This book was a little to predictable and flat for me. I think it would've been an incredible novel if it was written from an adult point of view, but the 5 year old narration hindered the story in my opinion. The characters were written well and I enjoyed it as a story, but I really think it could have been done better. The story seemed to have some gaps, and there were things that didn't make sense, or were just pointless and unnecessary. ROOM was a decent read, and it kept my attention well enough, but it was nothing special. I probably wouldn't recommend this book.

This was a great read. I really enjoyed the setting and all the beautiful descriptions of the gardens, it really made you feel like you were walking through them, too. I thought the characters were well written, I especially liked Gwen and Jane. THE LOST GARDEN kept me interested and intrigued, and I was quite surprised at the ending. This book was a great mix of loss, love, grief, and hope. It was a beautiful and unique story to read. I recommend it. :)
But what is love if not instant recognitition? A moment of being truly equal to something.

The first half of this book was a bit confusing, but as it went on and the characters became connected the story greatly improved. After weaving a mildly interesting story the confusion popped back up near the end. I found myself wondering what this was all about, and was it even necessary in the story? I liked the intertwining characters aspect of the story, but the rest of it I thought was too muddled and just thrown together. It didn't have much order or clarity to it, which made it had to enjoy the stories of each of the characters. Some of IN THE SKIN OF A LION intrigued me and made me want to read more, but in the end, once more was revealed, it wasn't very enjoyable. Beautiful writing, but lacking substance.
The first sentence of every novel should be: "Trust me, this will take time but there is order here, very faint, very human."
