Eventhough I knew what the book was about I was curious on what Amado could possibly say about the story in 500+ pages. I was pleasantly surprised and entertained. (less)

Urrea uses family testimonies, legends, archival research and much more to create a spellbinding story of the Saint of Cabora. Who in fact was a real person. My absolute favorite part is from page 484-487. A beautiful story. Urrea does a wonderful job of using words to paint a novel that at times feels dream-like which borders on the line of Magical Realism. But for some reason I would not consider this book a work of Magical Realism.(less)

I was first drawn to this book purely by the cover art. I walked around Barnes & Noble with this book clutched under my arm. I hadn't seen a well designed Christian book...ever. When I sat down to read it, I knew I had to have it. This book is so insightful. I had never thought of the correlation between creativity and suffering. I loved it so much that I bought a second copy and sent it to my aunt in California. She had been paralyzed for a sometime and I thought this book would bring her joy. And it did! (less)

I did like that we got to see the story from Jacob's point of view. That was definitely my favorite part. I also like that Bella has become more pro-active in protecting the people she loves. Although, I kind of new what her special ability would be, it is nice to see her more involved. Also didn't like the idea that Bella had been born to be a vampire, I felt like that was a little crazy. I think there could have been so much more to this book, maybe an additional book to follow breaking dawn. The ending wasn't disappointed but it wasn't superb either. It was just...okay.Despite a few hang ups I really enjoyed reading this series and I wish it wasn't over. (less)
