There are some spots of humour, some great 'wow' moments, but mostly this book has a fantastic storyline and characters, and is a gripping read.
The three main characters are interesting as individuals but I also enjoyed the way they exchange ideas with each other, and you can see their relationships developing as time goes on.
This author is a new discovery for me and I am keen to read the first book in the series now, so I can discover more about the characters. (less)

I am so pleased that this was the first offer of this kind that I have accepted, as I absolutely loved this book.
Told from the perspective of five of the characters, the book is about a gunman taking a class full of school children and their teacher hostage, a school in lockdown, and everyone else in the community.
I felt the pacing was enhanced by the fact that each character "had their say" and I was so engrossed in the story that I only realised half way through that the author uses first person for some of the characters and third for others. Very cleverly done.
I have very limited reading time, but for me this book was a page-turner and I savoured every minute I spent reading it. I enjoyed the reveal at the end; it made me want to read through the book again to see if I could spot more clues the second time I read it!

It has some really funny parts in it, and kept me guessing right until the end. I was very impressed - and to be honest much more so than I had expected.
The book will appeal to any of you who have a blog because it's set out in the format of blog posts and some of those posts have the sort of comments we all get every now and then, from Internet Trolls. These are the things that made me laugh out loud. In fact one day I was sitting in my car just before collecting my children from school, reading a few pages, and I laughed so much that one of the parents who was walking down the road turned around and looked at me as if I had lost the plot.
The book went straight onto my Goodreads 'Favourites read in 2012' list, and I also want to read it again asap, which shows how good it is.(less)

She is a tomboy who loves anything with an engine, especially Gypsy Moth aeroplanes.
This book contains wonderful characters, a believable and interesting plot, and is romantic, but with a twist.
I couldn't put it down until right near the end when I slowed right down because I didn't want it to finish. I really hope there will be more from this author soon. (less)

I particularly like the characters Arnold and Tom, both secondary characters but they move the story lines along fabulously.
The book has a wonderful blend of inter-twining plots and it made me laugh out loud a couple of times.
In summary, Flings and Arrows is a book I would highly recommend to people who like contemporary womens fiction. I am looking forward to reading more by this talented author. (less)

It's not often I read a book so quickly but I find this author has the style of writing that I simply can't put down. I read this book in three days.
If you like contemporary fiction with humour, twists and romance, this is the book for you. I am already waiting in anticipation of this author's third novel.
