The friends play together and discover a beautiful flower.Bear picks the flower for his friend but it inevitably fades and the little girl is inconsolable. Bear decides to look for another and in doing so leaves his friend alone. Both suffer through the separation and although bear returns without a flower, together they find a better way to enrich their lives. A little saccharine, but nicely told and beautifully illustrated. Definitely a story of hope, and a useful conversation starter about growing plants and seasonal changes.(less)

There are some nice refrains - 'Hen looked left, Hen looked right, Hen looked all around, the hairy scary big bad fox was nowhere to be found'. Untimately it is the chicks that outwit the fox and the farmyard friends who chase him off. Bright and lively illustrations enhance the tale. (less)

She asks a number of other farmyard mothers if they have seen her chicks, but all say they have been too busy with their own young to notice them. Eventually Dora finds her chicks in various places in the farmyard. However, when one of the farmyard mothers asks Dora for help, she is too busy with her chicks. I didn't like how this ended, Dora seems to have a case of 'sour grapes' and turns out to be as unhelpful as the other mothers - hum!(less)

His exuberance shines through as he runs with geese, bounces with a lamb, jumps with a pony, and rolls around with a pig. He returns to tell his mother all about it and finds some new playmates. Bright illustrations and fun noises to copy.(less)

Her memory of them stays with her as she grows up, becomes a mother and helps her own daughter make a new set of paper dolls. There are some nice repeated refrains and the dolls names' are perfect!(less)

This nice rhyming story tells of a group of animal friends preparing for a Spring party. They have to do everything quietly so as not to wake the bear sleeping nearby. Inevitably, the bear is awoken by a spectacularly loud POP (the hare over inflates a balloon) . The animals are afraid there will be trouble. You'll have to read it to see what transpires - I love to ask my listeners what they think the bear will do. Only then do we move on to see what really happens.(less)
