So far this is my favorite book on the series, and I love they the caracters are growing.
This book continues where Shadow Kiss left, with Rose living St. Vladimir after her birthday and going after Dimitri to end his misery.
Rose discover lots of things on her travel. First there's a new caracter, Sydney Sage, an alquimist, who is responsible to clean after the guardians (news to Rose and us). Second there's Abe Mazur, he dresses like a pimp or mob, and nobody really nows why he shows, but everything is explained in the end.
Rose's live in Russia is not what I would expect. Dimitri wants to turn her into a Strigoi like him so they con live together. But one reason that stop her is Lissa. Things happen really fast after she realize that Lissa needs her and return to St. Vladimir is the only way. So she tries to escape, and thinks Dimitri is dead after their fight. But when she receives a note with a D as only signature, she knows he's after her.
I think that's one reason why I like this series, the author give us explanaitions about the story and past that lead the caracters now.
Lissa continues on school but is heartbroken after Rose left, and when a new person show up and they became friends, it shows to me at least that Rose suffers more than her, for their time apart. Avery Lazar is royalty like Lissa and they have interesting things in commun, but I still don't like the who weak she is.(less)

I had my sights on this book for awhile. The first time I read the summary it totally blow me away. It’s completely different from everything that I’ve so far and I some way is disturbing, but so interesting.
When Rhine was kidnapped I started to really feel sorry for her. She lost her parents and in the end couldn’t get in touch with her twin brother. After I realized that she was supposed to marry a rich man, OMG, things started to really freak me out.
The author kept the story well paced and I didn’t even felt the time passing, but when I was nearing the end I realized that Rhine spend an hole year kidnapped.
Linden is cross to me, some moments I believed in his love for Rhine and others just kept me thinking that he was playing her and still don’t know how I feel about him. But his father I definily hate. I understand that science needs some tests, but he treats everybody as nothing and that made me hate him.
Can’t wait for Fever, because this one was like one taste of a perfect desert. (less)

And guys I’m so regretting not reading it sooner, but at the same time it comes for the best because honestly don’t think I could manage it to wait so long for Insurgent.
The book was amazing and I’m loving’ Dystopia right now. Since Hunger Games I haven’t really touched anything from this genre and it isn’t one my favorites. I love stories with a happy ending or even in a different reality, but this idea of a world on a brick of ending, it gives me some bad thoughts.
Divergent has a great story; Beatrice Prior is a girl living in a society that for me is a bully thing, divided in five factions that struggled every day to live without war. Beatrice is having problems with her choice. Her family is from Abnegation and lives to help other people before thinking about themselves, but she is not as selfless as it should, so when the time comes for her to choose her faction, strange things happen and she discovers herself named Divergent, problem she doesn’t have any idea what that means and can’t discuss with anyone.
So Beatrice has a situation and after she choose her faction(I’m not saying with one), she has to dealt with training and more drama, she’s the only one who can save the world as they know from a rebellion, crazy right? But the book is fast paced, so I didn’t even stop reading it, it has 487 pages one of the biggest on my shelf and still kept me hooked.
A plus side there’s a little romance starting on this one that I believe will be more talked about on Insurgent. (less)
I like a good alien book and this one was really interesting since the start. The Earth was being attacked by some dark and bad aliens when the Kindred decided to come for the rescue and saved the day, but they also wanted one thing. A Trade. The wanted women, because their race is 95% made of men and since they’re humanoid. It’s a win-win and the government said yes. Years since that and we have Baird meeting his bride, Liv. The thing is nobody actually knows what happens in their ship, because no women ever returned complaining, actually they never return period. There’s a month of the claiming period while the Kindred can do lots of dirty things with their bride and after that let’s just say she’s fully satisfied. Baird was captured by the dark side and spent six months being tortured but while there he’s mind found Liv and they spent the sleeping hours exchanging informations about their lives. Liv had no idea he was a Kindred and didn’t knew her dreams were actually true. So one day Baird escaped he’s prison and came to Earth to find he’s bride. That’s were the story starts with us following Liv and Baird during their claiming period. It’s interesting because Liv promised her twin sister that she would never surrender and wasn’t going to bond with the Kindred because her life was on Earth being a nurse and helping save people. So Baird does everything in his power to show Liv they are great together and how much he loves her. He’s really romantic and tries to cook on her first night on the ship, but he’s restless and every day he also tries to seduce her. Plus he has some pheromones that helps to attract her. The book was really good and these aliens were romantic and brave to the extreme. Some naughty parts were present, aliens know how to seduce a girl.(less)
This was a very long book and it follows Claimed story. We met Sophia and Sylvan during Liv and Baird claiming period and now these two are getting married and all hell broke lose once the bad guys decided to kidnap Sophia thinking she can save them from destruction.
Pretty insane right, but I love an alien erotica and this series is good in delivering the hotness. These guys are warriors and they chosen one female to spent the rest of their life with.
But that not how things starter for Sophia and Sylvan. He was denied once during a claiming period and now chose to live as a eunuch, but his goddess has other ideas and made him feel really hot while close to Sophia, but she has no idea of anything happening because she’s just a human and is just now learning the Kindred rules.
Sylvan is like a vamp and needs to suck blood from his Bride to perform the claiming, but Sophia was once abused and has issues with any kind of male, plus these two are hiding and running from the hounds.
I liked this book and even enjoyed the Sylvan and Sophie problems for a bit, bit these two are too dumb to mess with. They had no idea what was happening half the time and even if Sylvan passed through this once, he just can’t believe it’s happening. Hello you are a male and close to a pretty woman, we both know what happens.
But I liked that we got to see more of the other stories and the author started explaining more of the Kindred's home planet.(less)
Things are getting more dangerous than ever in Mythos Academy and now Gwen must find an artifact her mother hide. An again it’s the only way to save the humanity from Loki, problem is she has no idea where it is and Loki’s champion is also looking and it’s probably inside the school.
Gwen’s life is not easy and Logan is almost her boyfriend, because now she has reasons to stay away from him. Reapers are popping up from everywhere and nobody is save, but Gwen is improving in her abilities and also learning how to fight better. Double yay.
But the book is all about action and death happens, but this one was really good for the series. It explained a lot about Gwen’s family and also helped understand a bit more of this war.
Can’t wait for the next because now the bad guy is out of the cage and Gwen is trying to save herself.(less)
This was another prequel, but I decided to read it after the first book because I usually get really confuse. They don’t explain much of the story and are short. But this one was different.
During the first book Gwen mentioned in passing what happened after gym in her old school and the prequel show us exactly this. What vibes se get and the memories she can extract from the hair brush that Paige let her borrow.
There’s also a visit to Mythos and Gwen first encounter with Logan. I don’t liked the way her grandmother just shipped her o school like it was a done deal. But I enjoyedd to know what happened before school started.(less)
I bought the first two books of this series last year and decided this week to read them. The summary made me realize this was exactly the kind of I like. The characters are powerful and solving mysteries about their lives and their places in the world. Plus the mythology is a very important part of the book. Gwen was a great girl and made me so happy after I discovered she is so important and humble about it. She lives in this very strange and different high school were everyone has some crazy power. At first she doesn't believe in their history with is kinda strange when she can see and feel emotions from objects and persons. She is not very different from them but I felt very attached to her while she investigated a murdered. I loved how the book became more dark after she encountered more clues to help her and when she started to believe in the myths. Her mother passed away before the book started and we get the feeling was very close to her mom and this investigation is her way to remember her. Danger is everywhere in the campus and she actually became friends with a Valkyrie. I liked how this friendship was created, because everyone is a bit posh in the school and Gwen was raised with a cop salary, so she’s nowhere that rich. But things became really good for these two. There’s a guy and he’s a bad boy crazy for a fight, he’s a Spartan and he’s also a womanizer, but I think he has some feelings for Gwen and it’s afraid of what she can discover of his past. I liked how he always saved her.(less)

The bad guy for me was obvious and Eve had a gut feeling about it since the beginning, but I loved the christmas setting and to see her better in exchanging gifts. Roarke as always went overboard, but Eve learned to pick the right things for the people she considers family, even the cat got a present!
The mystery was closer to Eve because some woman decided to show up and blackmail Roarke, the problem was the woman died during her stay and of course Eve had to investigate to put peace in her mind mostly. I loved Roarke taking her side and even some scenes with Bobby, the victims son, because they have a past together. The woman was a foster parent of Eve after she was found in Texas, but she was not a great mom and Eve suffered a lot. I liked the ending and thought it was actually fitting, but could do better with those suspects.(less)

I have to say that I’m surprise the author decided to make the fight so soon in the story, but it was full of emotion and so powerful. We can see Gin doubt during the book but I was pretty sure she would end up on top with her name still intact.
Owen was my favorite character during this book, he’s so sweet and loveable in a very manly way. He’s strong and so in love with Gin that we can see him fighting giants just to protect her. He proved several times that he’s perfect for her and we also discovered her life was connected with his way earlier than Gin had considered.
We can also see Bria coming to terms with Gin job and finally giving in to Finn, although for me it was at the wrong time, but she deserved someone carefree like him to chase the ghosts of her past away. Also several of Gin friends make an appearance on this book, like Roslyn, Jo-Jo.
Everyone was really important to make possible the grand finale against Mab, but the only way Gin could win, was once she accepted her dual elementals and learned how to fight with them in her favor.
Oh, and a very special appearance for me was the perfect way the author managed to include Fletcher on the end. He was very important to help Gin became the best and make possible her attack on Mab.(less)

I’m not surprised but there were several attempts of killing her, making it seems like Jonah McAllister is really after finishing her, but I liked the fact that she wasn’t happy about it and it didn’t change her life.
Her relationship with Owen is still very strong after they admitted their feelings and now the only real problem she has is how to connect with Bria. Finn being really nice and all decided a vacation was in order and I liked to see Gin in a different place and having fun once in her life with family and friends.
Not surprising danger found its way to Gin and she became involved with another Gig. Collie was Bria best friend since childhood, so when Gin discovered a big and bad vampire was trying to kill her and buy her restaurant, she jumped to help.
Several things made me really this book would not be perfect. At first Gin didn’t make a plan to actually kill the vampire and there were rumors about his abilities and the fact he had elemental in his side, but Gin never really discovered before the job. She decided to give him a chance to back off, but was surprised by the fact he knew who she was and Jonah was actually his buddy, so things didn’t turn up very good.
I’ve never see Gin so careless, but I blame Donovan Caine, can you imagine his back? I was never much of his fan, but this book made me really hate and of course love even more Owen.
I liked the action, but it wasn’t Gin style. Fun book and I had a feelings things would be bad before they turned good. Bria finally accepted Gin jobs and her reasons, so in the end it was all worth it.(less)
I was strolling to the library in my country and saw this book was released in Portuguese, but since I already had an English ebook edition, on the first minute I returned home this one was picked and I already bought and read the rest already released. It was so fun and mysterious to follow Kylie while she tried to discover her new powers. Is not everyday a girl can believe she see ghosts and there’s also several other non-human persons in this camp. After being shipped to Shadow Camp by her mother, Kylie start to discover a new world where everything is possible, from vampires to werewolves and shapeshifters, but her powers are very different and again she fells alone. I loved Kylie adventure to understand how to communicate with the ghost following her and also discover from where she received those strange powers, but the best part was trying to discover witch supernatural she was. She has so different powers and they could fit in several different places. Another great part was the friends she made. Della is a vampire and she struggles with her family and can’t tell them the true, but the camp is the only place she can feel save and be honest about her strength and drink blood regularly. Miranda is a witch and can’t make a spell work, she suffers from her family pressure. Of course there’s also some guys that catch Kylie attention. Lucas is a werewolf and she actually met hi before when she was just a kid. He’s a little older, but sounds like a nice guy with some dark moments and a dangerous past. On the other side we have Derek and he’s half-fae, very sweet and a great friend. It’s fun to follow Kylie during her adventures and her passions, her life was really miserable at home while her parents are separating and her grandmother just passed, but the camp made her feel at ease and helps her try to figure out her powers and help the ghosts. Loved the first book and how fast things happened. (less)
We met Colt since the second book and watched as he struggled to overcome the alcohol problem after a series of mistakes and Dag death really affected him while all the rest of the family was more worried about themselves. It’s really interesting for me to see the two troublemaker together in this book after three years as best friends the actually decided to jump in a relationship. Never saw them together actually, because Colt is wild and I though he needed a nice girl to balance him, but after Lorelei started in the emotions and I realized the best person for him is really India, they spent some many times together and know a lot about the other that the only thing missing was the sex, and oh boy that was amazing. The interesting part was how the family don’t know Colt at all and India made them aware that he was suffering and things were really difficult and they didn’t help any moment, it’s really strange because they always bond and only Kade and Keely were supportive. Since India suffered and her life was really difficult and the overdose made her stop and start over. So now she has a tattoo shop in this little town, so she’s kinda of a stranger to the town. Colt helped her and was the perfect guy. This book was really good and the sex was ohm. Loved how Colt and India finally found their way in this life.(less)
I’m disappointed because this couple was only maintained passing in a couple of books and now they only get a novella to solve their problems. This was not enough for me and I want more form Quinn and Libby.
She’s sweet and a great housewife, but is unhappy with her marriage and feels like a failure because she can’t get pregnant, so the relationship is hanging by a breath. I liked Quinn but he needed to be more upfront with his feelings and desires. The marriage is really boring at the moment.
I liked how Libby handled things because the present was not a good moment for these tow and they needed a good push in the right direction. Quinn living in a trailer helped him put perspective in things of his life and appreciate Libby better.
Libby was a bit obsessed with having a baby and was suffocating Quinn, but talking was not the greatest thing between these two and the fresh start helped them find reasoning within their problems.(less)
This was a strange book at first because Cam was not around on the last few and since his injury I don’t know what to think about him and now he has a job and a house but it’s afraid to get close to people.
We met Domini, but only passing and she sounds like such a sweet girl that I didn’t thought it was right to put her with Cam, but after a couple of chapters I realized that she’s is so much better.
Domini is a strong and very capable girl, but she suffered in her original country and decided to take a chance on the US, her life is definitely better now, but things were not so great until a couple of months back and she’s still trying to help people. Sweet to the extreme.
I’m not gonna say anything about the ménage, because I honestly think is was not necessary, but I liked how Domini managed to canvince Cam to let go and enjoy life in town and with his family without worrying about what people would think. Plus the sex between these two was really awesome and I didn’t expected Cam being so Dominant.(less)
