Photographer Lilly Grayson had never hated Mother Nature more than she did right at this very moment. She’s supposed to by flying to Vermont for her friend’s wedding but of course, a freaking hurricane has to be blowing through so now she’s sitting and waiting for the absolute last person on this earth she wants to see to come pick her up so they can drive the 15 hours together. Oh, joy. Nate Jennings. Brother of the groom, smoking hot Marine and former one night stand….and now she can add tardy to that list since he was two hours late. Luckily sitting, and stewing, gives her time to formulate a plan. A plan to get back at him for leaving her feeling cold and cheap after their one and only night of hot and steamy sex. She shouldn’t be bitter because they really only had one night together but the fact was she couldn’t stop thinking about him since that night. So now she was planning on using her female wiles to get back at him during their 15 hour excursion and leave him wanting her as badly as he left her wanting him. But you know what they say about the best laid plans, right? Of all the dangerous missions Nate Jennings had been on, this was by far the most risky. Why did he have to be stuck in the small confines of his truck’s cab with Lilly for a grueling 15 hours? It was bad enough he hadn’t been able to stop thinking about her since their one night together and now he had to deal with her animosity toward him. Not that he could blame her. She had every right to be pissed at him…but did she have to make pissed off so sexy? There was no way he would be able to keep his hands off of her through this trip. But he needed to stop thinking that way. She deserved a man who was whole and not screwed up beyond repair…which is the exact opposite of what he was. She wouldn’t want to be saddled with a Marine carrying more baggage than a department store. The problem is, he wanted her with a desperation that defied logic. It was going to be one hell of a roadtrip… With so much raw emotion and lust crammed into such close quarters for hours on end, it will be one hell of a ride for Nate and Lilly….and one that will change their lives forever. You know that one meme of the kids wearing their “time-out” shirt? If you don’t, I’ll explain. Two kids who love each other but fight like cats and dogs are forced to wear one extra-large shirt and work out their problems ultimately reminding them that they do, in fact, care for each other and that differences can always be figured out. Well, Nate and Lilly’s situation reminds me so much of that shirt! There is so much chemistry between them that it practically burns the pages but their differences are getting in the way. Nate is delicious. He’s smoking hot and is so alpha that I loved reading every man-handling and cave-man-like scene. He’s also beyond stubborn. He doesn’t see himself worthy of Lilly. He’s got emotional scars that are in dire need of healing and if he could just take a step back and see that Lilly is willing to help him, he could have a chance at happiness. Lilly is just as stubborn but in a different way. She is trying so hard to deny her attraction to Nate and tries so hard to put up an angry front. But in the end, they both let down their defenses and ultimately give in. Dear God…when they give in it is pure passion. Yum, yum, yum. But there’s more than just smexy scenes to this story and the emotions run really high at times. Hurt, loss, tragedy, and guilt all play a big roll and it made this story that much better. Oh, and the end? Freaking BEYOND perfect! I finished this book after midnight and was so tempted to wake my husband up just to tell him how much I loved this ending. Lucky for him, I refrained! I am really, really hoping we get more from this series because I absolutely loved these characters! Thank you, Nicolette, for one hell of a book!(less)

To say that Stephanie has had an awful life would be a terribly gross understatement. Her father has abused her both physically and sexually for too many years to count and her mother isn’t much better. As if that’s not horrid enough, her poor excuse for a father has some friends that like to use Stephanie as well. What’s even worse is the community’s lack of action and empathy. The teachers see her bruises, but do nothing. Stephanie is actually relieved they stopped calling the police. Why? Because the police already know about it. A few of the police are her father’s friends. And they use Stephanie, too. So calling the police or CPS only makes her life worse….as if that was possible. There are two things keeping Stephanie in this town and in this situation. Her little brother and her boyfriend. Her little brother needs her to keep him safe from their abusive parents and she needs her boyfriend to remind her that there is at least one kind and caring person in this world. But for all of the darkness and despair in Stephanie’s life, she always remembers there is hope. Hope for a better life someday. Hope for some justice. Hope to be free of all of this pain and suffering. The sun always rises the next day and with that sunrise comes the hope of a brand new day with new possibilities….of peace and love. Will she ever be free of her old life and able to find a new one? Oh my, this book was really heavy. But it was also a stark reminder that there are very similar and very real situations happening in this world right this very minute. I appreciated Elora bringing these situations to life in this book because sometimes we need a reminder that there is someone out there in need of help. Maybe it will be a call to action for some readers and that would be an amazing thing. Stephanie absolutely broke my heart. She broke my heart not because of what she is going through, but because her spirit, though buried deep, was never broken. I can’t imagine living her life. Now, onto the rest of the characters. I wish Stephanie’s father a long afterlife in hell. And I wish his “friends” ended up there to join him. Oh, and her mom, too. They all deserve a special kind of hell. But Kevin, Stephanie’s boyfriend, is beyond special. He’s a football star and I admired his ability to look past outer appearances and to be able to discover who Stephanie is a person. He picks her up when she is beyond down and is always there to remind her that she is worthy of a happy life. This brings me to the ending….which I have to say I had a love/hate relationship with. It gave me some closure and hope for Stephanie but was also a bit of a cliffhanger. (Knowing that some of you aren’t fans of cliffhanger endings, I feel as though I should mention it.) There is (hopefully!) going to be a book two and I will be anxiously waiting to see what the future holds for Stephanie and Kevin. Thank you, Elora, for a relevant, harrowing and poignant story that will stay with me for quite some time. I will be thinking of Stephanie and Kevin until the next installment!(less)

Captured in Surrender is a novella by Liliana Hart and is the third novella in the 1,001 Dark Nights Series as well as connected to her MacKenzies Series. I have read, and loved, a few of Liliana’s other works and was so excited to read this novella. Well, from start to finish this story was deliciously fantastic!
Hot on the trail of her latest fugitive, bounty hunter Naya Blade can’t believe her luck and that’s she ended up back in Surrender. A town she never wanted to see again. Sure, the whole bar fight and trouble her brother had gotten her involved in and subsequent arrest warrant had something to do with it, but the bigger problem was Lane Greyson. Lane, the hot, sexy, strong and silent Sheriff’s Deputy. The fling she had with him last time she was in this town had stayed with her far too long. Longer than it should have and it scared the hell out of her. She couldn’t afford to get involved with a guy, especially a guy who had the potential to steal her heart…like Lane did.
Deputy Lane Greyson can’t believe she is back. He couldn’t get Naya out of his mind since her last whirlwind visit to Surrender and now that she was back, he knew he was in trouble. There was no way he would let her get away again. She was the second good thing he’s been able to find since leaving the army. The first being the town of Surrender itself. First order of business though was to get her arrest warrant taken care of and while he had her in handcuffs he planned on showing her exactly how much she’s affected him since she left… Both hurt by loss in their pasts will end up bringing Lane and Naya closer than they had thought possible and will solidify their attraction…but will it be enough to build a real relationship on?
Holy yum, Batman! This novella was beyond smoking hot! The sexual tension between Lane and Naya was palpable from their very first encounter in this story and just got better (and hotter) from there. Lane has been somewhat of a loner and lives a very simple life in Surrender but wants Naya with a passion that I could feel and I loved that about him. He isn’t going to let her get away and the convincing he does to get her to stay is pretty amazing. Naya is a strong gal with a take no prisoners attitude but she’s not too stubborn to realize that Lane is pretty special. They end up working really well together in more ways then one and I really enjoyed their story! Oh, and did I mention it was SMOKING HOT? Man, the jail cell scene has me fanning myself while I’m typing this….
So, if you’re looking for strong characters with some action and plenty of heat, this is a story for you! Liliana fans will love this addition and if you haven’t read any of her work, this is a great place to get a taste! Thank you, Liliana, for an amazing story!(less)

Car...moreWanted By You is the debut novel from author Steph Nuss and the first in her Love in the City Series. Wow…what a kick ass debut. I loved this book! Carter and Ellyson met the very first day of their college career and became fast and close friends. But that’s all they ever were. Close friends. Oh, not because they didn’t have feelings that went beyond that because they both did. They both also had reasons for never acting upon those feelings and so it stayed in the ‘friend zone” for them. Soon college would be over and Carter had to head home to Texas to help his family’s business and they lost touch. Fast forward to five years later…. Carter Jennings can’t believe he’s finally back in New York and has landed a fabulous job as an English professor at his college alma matter. Of course being back here reminds him of Ellyson and has him wondering even more what she is doing these days and where she is. He can’t believe he let her slip away from him five years ago. He knew now without a doubt that she was the one woman for him. Now that he’s getting his life together back in NY, he knows his next mission is to tack her down. Little did he know that he wouldn’t have to look too far… Psychologist Ellyson Evans has made her dreams come true after graduation by opening her own practice and doing what she’s dreamed of. Mental health and helping others. She loved being able to stay in New York and stay close to her dad. After losing her mom to cancer when she was younger, he was her only family and she wouldn’t dream of leaving. Not even to move to Texas. Not that Carter had asked her anything like that when he left. Elly was the one who secretly pined for Carter, not the other way around. She still missed him every day, even five years later. Turns out she wouldn’t have to miss him much more when she runs into him while visiting a professor friend and immediately knows she won’t let him get away twice. Fate clearly had a plan for Carter and Elly and brought them back together at just the right time. It may have taken five years, but now they were both ready to admit their feelings and give love a try. But would it be enough to get past old fears? Oh my, how I loved this book! I read it on my flight home from vacation and the poor man in front of me had to deal with my giggling, dreamy sighs and ugly tears….but I couldn’t help it! Carter and Elly’s story is just so good! I loved getting to read when they met and how close they became but what I loved more was that they went their separate ways and came back older and wiser. They were able to grow together as well as apart and when they were ultimately reunited, they were ready to admit they both held feelings that went much deeper than friends. Carter is just so amazing. He is sexy, smart, caring, and will do anything for Elly. He practically does. He had me in a puddle of lovey-dovey goo by the end of this book. Seriously, he may be one of the most perfect guys ever. He’s there for Elly when she needs him most (no spoilers but I will say she goes through some serious things and will really need him!) and I loved him even more for that. Elly is a great match for Carter. She is smart, beautiful, confident, and kind. She is also afraid. Afraid of loving and losing…the way she lost her mother. Luckily for her, Carter isn’t one to back away when the road gets rough. The ending to this book was simply perfect and had me crying happy tears and grinning a big goofy grin. Oh, how I loved it! There’s also a fabulous cast of characters in Carter and Elly’s friends. I can’t wait to read more of this series! Thank you, Steph, for a fabulous book and for giving us Carter and Elly!(less)

This story was just perfect!
On Spring Break in Key West with her two BFF’s, Quinn must venture out and meet a guy. Why, you ask? It was the deal her and her girlfriends had made. They wouldn’t be spending a ton of girl time together. They needed to branch out and get some action. Some guy action. It’s this deal that leads her to a house party at a gorgeous and sprawling mansion. After being there only a short time, Quinn isn’t too impressed with what’s going on. Scantily clad drunken girls and Ken doll perfect frat guys. SO not her thing. All that changes when she meets James Hunt. He seems to be different than all these guys here and she immediately takes to him. It doesn’t take long for Quinn to decide James should be the guy she throws caution to the wind with and enjoy a fling with….too bad she finds herself wanting more with him by the end of their trip. Forget the problem of the trip ending. The bigger problem, Quinn soon finds out, is James wasn’t exactly honest with her from the very beginning. Could his dishonesty ruin any chance for a long-term relationship?
James Hunt was used to throwing the parties at his parents house on Spring Break. He was used to the girls and the booze and all the annoying nonsense that came with it. And he was over all of it. But he couldn’t be annoyed tonight. Now when he sees Quinn. She’s unlike any other girl at this party and he instantly knows he must have her and after spending even a little bit of time with her, he was sure of it. Of course his friends take that as a chance to offer up a challenge to get her in bed before the weekend was up. Just to shut them up, James accepts. Quinn would never find out anyway, right? The more time James spends with Quinn he sure hopes she doesn’t because he’s fallen hard and fast for her. But even if she did find out about some stupid bet, she would surely know his feelings for her were true and very real….right? Or could that one stupid bet risk it all?
Two people from opposite ends of the social status spectrum turn out to be a perfect match when it comes to matters of the heart. Will they be able to overlook all of the silly mistakes that lead up to the present and give what they’ve found a chance?
I simply adored this book. In true Jennifer fashion, she gives the reader two fantastic characters with an undeniable attraction that built beautifully throughout the story. Of course, the whole matter of the bet had me a nervous wreck and I was so worried for Quinn and James because I really REALLY wanted things to work between them. James, despite coming from loads of money, was a broken soul and I wanted to give him a great big hug when he let his true feelings about his childhood show and how he feels about his parents spill out. Quinn was so amazing and strong. She has been dealt a tough hand in life but is determined to make the best of things. Their differences balanced out and I loved them as a couple. I won’t give anything away as far as the bet and the ending but I will say this: the thing I love most about Jennifer’s writing is her ability to write an amazing ending. Chick-flick-movie-worthy type of endings, I tell you. And this was no exception.
Thank you, Jennifer, for a sexy and loving story! (less)

This book was sexy, sensual, and mysterious all rolled into a delectable package. I adored it!
Callie Ward knows she’s been stationary too long. She’s been on the run since she was 16 after her seeing her family brutally murdered and almost becoming a victim herself. It’s that mystery killer she’s been running from for years now. She’s been at Club Dominion for four years and fears the feelings she has developed for not only her Dom, but also the club’s master, will be her downfall. Callie has fallen, hard…for both men. Sean the sexy Scottish Dom and Thorpe, the club master. Both men have been kind to her over the years and they make her feel safe. Almost like feeling at home. To her, those feelings are practically as terrifying as a killer stalking her from the shadows. Deciding to flee Club Dominion was one of the hardest choices she’s ever had to make. Leaving the people you love is never easy. But Callie has no idea that these two men love her just as much and will do anything to protect her. They refuse to let her shoulder this mess on her own and with their help she may be able to live her real life again. But will she be able to live it with just one of these amazing, caring, sexy guys? Hopefully she won’t have to choose.
As if all of that wasn’t enough to deal with, the plaguing mystery of her family’s murders will come to light once more and Callie with Sean and Thorpe’s help, she may finally get the answers she needs. Hopefully without anyone else getting hurt or killed.
Wow. This book was fantastic. Callie’s life has been filled with heartache. She lost her entire family and has been on her own. She’s finally found a home within the walls of a BDSM club and went from loving no one to loving two very different, but equally desirable, men. I don’t blame her one bit for being torn. I don’t think I would have been able to choose between the two. Sean is smart, strong, understanding, kind, and ridiculously sexy. Thorpe is all of those things and more. He’s experienced and more dominant than Sean and holds the power to rein her in in a way she’s never known. It would be like asking someone to choose between two decadent desserts….who could?! I won’t say what Callie’s choice ended up being but I will say that the ending made me very happy.
Oh, and the mystery surrounding the murders? Wow. Shayla did an amazing job of weaving the who-done-it through the entire story and had me on the edge of my seat up until the very end. Really well done!
Fans of The Wicked Lovers Series will love this latest steamy installment and if you haven’t tried the series yet, I highly recommend you do! Thank you, Shayla, for a truly enjoyable read.

I will warn yo...moreFull Measures is the debut from author Rebecca Yarros and one of the most amazing debut novels I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I will warn you now; this may be one of the hardest reviews I have ever had to write. Not for any other reason than I loved this book so much and I hope I can convey my feelings adequately. (feel free to ignore my blubbering from this point on and just buy this book….because it’s that good.) When Ember Howard’s little brother came into her room that morning and said there was someone at the door, and her mother wasn’t answering it, she knew her life would never be the same. The men in uniform standing on the other side of her front door waiting to deliver their life-altering news would be certain of that. Now came the choice: break down or be the only person holding it together. Her father was dead. An army surgeon….killed in action. Her mother shuts down, her sister checks out and her little brother needed her. She could do this. Little did Ember know she would find strength in her brother’s hockey coach, and former high school hockey star slash huge past crush, Josh Walker. He’s different now, Ember realizes. He was something back then, but now? Now he was so much more. Mature, kind, patient, gorgeous, sexy…the whole package. Beyond that he will prove to be the rock she so desperately needs and will ignite the flame she had dismissed as a teenage crush. Could she be so lucky to call Josh Walker hers? Josh Walker has more of a connection with Ember Howard’s family than he hopes she will ever know. Because if she ever knew how deep his connection went, she would never speak to him again. After losing her father, he knew she needed someone to help her carry the burden of caring for her family until her mom got herself together and he wanted to be that man. Wanted it with a passion he knew he couldn’t deny. As he and Ember spend more and more time together he knows he’s falling deeper and deeper and he’s so scared of losing her. He’s determined to do any and everything he can to prevent that from happening…but deep down he knows eventually she will find out the secret he’s hiding. Will the love they’ve found be strong enough to keep them together? The stakes are high when you’re dealing with love this deep and intense and with emotions running high from an unimaginable loss, the obstacles Ember and Josh have to overcome are immense. I can’t say that I remember that last time I got this emotional over a book. Yes, a whole lot of books make me cry but holy hell, this book had me sobbing uncontrollably. Please, don’t let that turn you away from reading this book. The emotions were intense from the very first few pages and carried on throughout but it was unlike recent books I have read in the sense that the emotions weren’t centered on one single relationship. These emotions were from a loss of a father, husband, son, and soldier and they were so very real and incredibly touching. Ember is a heroine that commanded my respect from the very first chapter. She was able to push her own emotions aside to help care for her family. That, to me, is beyond admirable. She was strong when she needed to be and but her share of breakdowns and it gave her such a real feeling. Josh is just amazing. He gave Ember exactly what she needed, even if she didn’t realize it at the time. He was patient with her, and kind and caring beyond belief for a handsome guy with a player reputation. He goes down as one of the most amazing book boyfriends. And knowing how many books I’ve read, that’s saying something. The heat and chemistry between them was delectable and builds at a delicious pace…with Josh being the quintessential gentleman the entire book. He is just too amazing for words. Ok, the secret that he’s keeping? Whoa. I can’t give it away but I will say this: just when I thought I had cried all the tears I could shed for this book, the waterworks were back. Full force. Big, ugly cry. That being said, I couldn’t be mad at Josh. In fact, I loved him even more and it in the end it brought a deeper meaning to Ember and Josh’s relationship and the relationship he has to her family. Now, if you’ve stayed with me up until this point, I hope I’ve conveyed to you just how amazing this book is. I gave it a “five loves” and I would give it more than that if my rating system went higher. Rebecca poured heart and soul into this story and it showed with every page. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this awesome up and coming author! Thank you, Rebecca, for giving me puffy eyes and for giving us Ember, Josh and this incredibly amazing story!(less)

Well, after reading this book I have added this series as one I will be looking forward to more from. I freaking loved this book!
Anxiously looking for a way to further her music journalism career, Stella Ramsey knows she is holding that very thing in the palm of her hand. Literally. But she also knows that if she leaks what she has, she won’t just be reporting an über exclusive piece on Tattoo Thief, she will be risking losing her best friend and her best friend’s trust. Without really thinking her actions through, she leaks it anyway and regrets it immediately. Now Stella finds herself having to gain her friend’s trust back. She also has to get more stories on Tattoo Thief, which means she’s going to have to gain their trust back as well. Enter Tyler Walsh. As Tattoo Thief’s hot and sexy bassist he steps in and gives her a chance to fix things while giving her material for a story. Tyler seems to good to be true but Stella knows all about the bad boy rocker types. The thing is, Tyler keeps surprising her. He turns out to be unlike any preconceived notion she had about him and that becomes dangerous. Dangerous because Stella doesn’t do the whole nice guy thing. She’s used to dysfunction and hurt. It’s all she’s known when it comes to guys. Could Tyler be the one to change her mind? The better question is, would Stella ever feel worthy of a guy like Tyler?
Rock star bassist Tyler Walsh has learned the hard way that he’s got to keep his guard up. He went from awkward teen to gorgeous and sexy rock star in such a short amount of time that he still isn’t used to all the attention that comes along with it. It was hard believing a girl wanted him for him and not just his fame and face. Then came Stella. She was kind of a mess when they met and he knew he could help her. He wanted to help her. The problem was he had to keep her at arms length until he got to know her better. Tyler finds himself hoping beyond hope that Stella could see past all the hype and into who he really is. He was willing to give her everything if she could do just that.
The attraction and chemistry between Tyler and Stella is positively delicious and they both feel it. But with old trust issues and constantly being in the spotlight, will they be able to find something true and real in a world of hype and tabloids?
*Dreamy sigh* Oh, how I loved this book. From the very beginning the story grabbed me and I was kept in its hold until the very end. I devoured it in 24 hours and loved every minute. Stella is kind of a mess. She drinks too much and hurt her good friend. She’s got a messed up past that has cut her deeply emotionally and in turn has made her self worth take a nosedive. But I loved her. She is raw and fresh at the same time. She wasn’t the flawless heroine that every guy drools over and I truly enjoyed that facet of her as a character. As for Tyler, all I can say is: yes, please! Talk about the complete opposite of the rock god persona. He is so amazing. He’s the good guy in a bad boy role. He’s kind and warm and has a huge heart. He’s got his share of secrets that he holds close to his vest and rightfully so. He treats Stella with such care both physically and emotionally and I absolutely fell in love with him. He is one of those book guys that I will hold future book guys next to for quite some time. I think one of the reasons I enjoyed this story so much was that Stella and Tyler’s roles were almost reversed. She was the one in need of love and kindness and he was the one who had so much love to give. The build up of heat between them was perfect. It was ever present but acting on it was something that took time and when it finally happened it was sublime.
The secrets that both Stella and Tyler are keeping are two pretty big doozies and I let out a huge “whoa” when one of Tyler’s was revealed. Never saw it coming throughout the whole book. I love being shocked like that!
Overall if you love a good guy saving a damsel in distress with a modern rock and roll twist, this is a book for you! Thank you, Heidi Joy, for an amazing story! I can’t wait to see what’s next for Tattoo Thief! (less)

Being a huge fan of Laura’s work and this series, I was so excited to read this second installment…and it did not disappoint! Filled with action, emotion, intensity, and suspense, this book is a WIN!
Knee deep in a mission to answer some haunting questions, former Army medic Shane McCallan is working with the men he never thought he’d have the honor of doing so again. After half of his Special Forces until had been killed in a horrific ambush, the surviving members had pretty much gone their separate ways after returning from overseas. But his brothers in arms were never far from Shane’s mind. Now, they were trying to put the pieces of an act of betrayal together and figure out just what happened to their unit in the desert that day. Their first not-exactly-legal mission has come to and end but has left more questions. With hopes of finding the answers, Shane keeps thinking about the strip-club waitress who helped him and his team the night of the daring rescue they pulled off. If she hadn’t helped them, who knows what the outcome may have been. But that’s not the only reason Shane keeps thinking about her. She was beautiful and held a certain something that Shane knew was special. She didn’t belong in the dangerous world he and his buddies were up against. Little did he know just how right he would be and just how much that waitress would need the lifeline he gives her.
Cocktail waitress Crystal Dean has been pushed to her limits so many times that she isn’t sure she even has them anymore. But she only has eight more months of living this hell. The hell of working in this strip club, of being a thug’s girlfriend, and of paying off her father’s debt to one of the most dangerous gang’s in Baltimore. In eight short months, her sister will have graduated from college and they can start over in a new town, with new identities and really live life the way it was meant to be for two young women. The only problem now was the handsome grey-eyed stranger who kept coming back into her life and threatened to make her bad situation much worse. She had helped him when he and his men came in to rescue the poor guy being kept in the basement of the club and she sure as hell never thought she’d see him again. But he keeps coming back. To the club and to her apartment and she finds herself taking chances with him that she knows are potentially deadly for her and her sister. But there is something so good and honest about him that makes Crystal want more out of this hellish life she’s living. Maybe he can help her and she can get out sooner. Crystal has never wanted anything more. Could Shane be her savior? Could he be more?
The odds against Shane and Crystal are stacked a mile high and the dangers are severe but they won’t prove too great to defeat hope. Hope for a new life, hope for love, hope for becoming whole again. Both Shane and Crystal need those things more than ever and together they can accomplish them….but at what cost?
This book rocked. There was so much packed into the pages that I was excited and anxious for every chapter and to see what would happen next. Shane is delectable. He is charming and kind with a confidence most would envy. But under all of that, he has a huge heart and has his own painful past that has made him hold the ones he loves even closer. He is persistent in his pursuit of Crystal because he knows she’s in trouble and he knows she’s an anomaly in this world of crime and corruption. He can feel her attraction to him and he vows to get her out of this hell. His honor is immeasurable and I adored reading him. Crystal is in an awful spot and really could use someone to trust. She has been through so much all while showing a brave face to the world. I was so happy Shane found her. She proved to be an immensely strong woman and I was pulling for her and Shane to get together. Did they? Well, I won’t spoil anything for you but I will say this…..the sexual tension between them builds beautifully and ends in a most delicious way.
Of course, the heart of the story is the unraveling of the mystery surrounding Shane’s former unit’s commander and his betrayal of them. Laura is doing an amazing job of building this aspect of the story and I can’t wait to see how it all progresses as the series continues!
Thank you, Laura, for another kick ass Hard Ink book! (less)

Well, Rebecca has a new fan in this blogger. This book was wonderful. Young, beautiful, smart, savvy and über successful businesswoman Jada McLean has worked hard at building her popular up-and-coming hotel chain and is now just a week away from the next meaningful chapter in her life….her wedding. It’s in preparation for that day that she heads home early one afternoon and finds her fiancée and her best friend in a very compromising position. A very naked, bent over her desk, hot and sweaty compromising position. Immediately Jada calls off the wedding and cuts her now EX-fiancée and EX-best friend out of her life. Trying to seek some solace and time alone, Jada heads to Lake Tahoe and almost immediately upon arriving meets an arrogant man who irritates her every time they run into one another. Unfortunately that seems to be an awful lot. Just when she can’t imagine things getting much worse, she gets the horrible news that her ex-fiancée has been murdered. Now, instead of mending a broken heart, Jada finds herself a suspect in his murder investigation. Jada also finds herself getting closer and feeling a bit warmer to the irritating man, who just happens to be the D.A. Jonathan Kole has just been appointed to the position of D.A. and he couldn’t be happier. He’s smart, handsome and things seem to be going well…unless you count how many times he’s put his foot in his mouth with the beautiful new face around town in Lake Tahoe. It seems he can’t manage to stop being a jerk around him and he needs to change that. He gets his chance when she becomes his father’s law firm’s client and he starts seeing more and more of her. Jonathan also realizes that she is completely off-limits and could be career suicide considering her suspected role in a murder but he can’t help it. She needs a shoulder to lean on and dammit; he wants to be the one. Is she worth risking it all? What starts out as a relationship of annoyance between them slowly builds into more when Jada and Jonathan find themselves in the middle of some intense situations. Murder, kidnapping, theft, and deceit, just to name a few. But can something good and true come from such an impure origin? Only time will tell. This story started out with a one-two punch in chapter one and just got better from that point on. Jada has ben dealt quite a crappy hand and needs to pick up the pieces. That proves to be easier said than done and the hits just keep coming for her. Luckily, even though Jada and Jonathan’s relationship started out a bit strained, they find out pretty quickly that the attraction they feel is something that shouldn’t be pushed aside. In the meantime, the investigation into Jada’s ex-fiancée’s murder leads to some incredible findings that involve many more players in a plot that I never expected. I can’t give anything away but I will tell you this: You will be on the edge of your seat until the very end. Oh, and the epilogue? Simply perfect. I had a big grin when I read it and let out a happy sigh. If you enjoy romantic suspense with every emotion packed into the pages, this is definitely a book for you! Thank you, Rebecca, for an amazing story!(less)

A Matchless Romance is the final work in author Christi Barth’s Aisle Bound Series, and if I had to vote on my favorite book in the series, this would be it. Oh, how I adored this story!
Video game designer Drew Watson and matchmaker Tabitha Bell meet by running into each other, quite literally, and forge a quick and unlikely friendship and business relationship.
You see, Drew doesn’t have what you would call great social skills and it has almost cost him his biggest career move and almost killed his dream of his newest game hitting mainstream blockbuster status. Enter Tabitha. After almost being run over by Drew, and after a quick chat, Tabitha thinks she may be the one person capable of helping him with his social cluelessness. He wasn’t awkward, per se, just totally clueless. Saying the first thing that came to mind and lacking a filter. Tabitha thought his personality was refreshing, but the big wigs in his company? Not so much. Drew ends up hiring her, not for her match making skills, but to smooth out his rough edges and get him out into the social scene. And always up for a challenge, Tabitha goes for it. She doesn’t really think this will be too hard considering Drew is completely gorgeous with a delicious tall and athletic build and a geeky charm about him that totally works well on him. But the rules in her matchmaking business are pretty strict about dating the clients…so her drool worthy client is off-limits. However, we all know the saying that some rules were meant to be broken…
Where to begin? There were so many little things that I loved in this story. All those little pieces added to the big picture and made up one hell of a great read! Drew is so freaking adorable and deliciously handsome. His geekiness cup overfloweth and it made him an incredibly endearing character. I wanted to hug him too many times to count over some of his dorky antics. But besides his adorable nerdiness, he’s an amazing athlete and has a brilliant mind. Can we say triple threat? Hell yes! The most lovable thing about him though is that he has no clue what a catch he is and just sees himself as a video game nerd. Don’t you just love that type of guy? I know I do! Tabitha was a colorful and spirited character with an interesting past and such confidence. She’s an amazing judge of character and nailed Drew and his quirks from the very first day. The chemistry between them is almost instant and builds beautifully…of course I can’t spoil anything for you so that’s as far as I can go!
Oh, and the ending? In typical Christi fashion, she wrote an ending so fitting and perfect for Drew and Tabitha. Honestly, it was one of the best endings ever! I get a big goofy grin just thinking about it. We also catch up with the rest of the Aisle Bound crew and it was beautiful and bittersweet. I couldn’t be happier for all of the couples and where their futures are headed. Thank you, Christi, for a fabulous ending to a series I have truly enjoyed. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next! (less)

Lifers is the newest work from author Jane Harvey-Berrick, an author I always look forward to reading. As I sit here with my tear-puffed eyes and type this review, I know it’s safe to say that Jane has once again rocked my world. This book is simply incredible.
Escaping a miserable, failed relationship and unhappy life in Boston, Torrey Delaney winds up in small town Texas and living with her reverend mother who she hasn’t talked to in years. You could say she went from bad to worse. That all changes when she meets Jordan. He walks into the diner she’s been working at and immediately Torrey senses something about him. She never expected the reaction of every person in the diner that morning. Reactions of contempt and hate toward him. Clearly there was s story there but she wouldn’t get the chance to ask him…at least on that day. To Torrey’s surprise the mystery man shows up at her mom’s house and begins handyman work. Clearly fate had a plan and Torrey was bound and determined to get to know this beautiful and clearly hurting man. But like an abused puppy, she had to earn that trust. Luckily she had all the time in the world…
Jordan Kane has finally ended his 8-year prison term and is now faced with life on the outside. He’s on parole, which will limit almost anything he could do, but at least he was out of that cinderblock hell. Unfortunately nothing could ever free him from the prison of his own mind. A place that was far worse than a jail cell. He expected the horrible treatment he was receiving from his neighbors, his parents, and the whole damn town. He was an ex-con with no plans for a future and most likely not deserving of one. What he wasn’t expecting was the treatment from the reverend’s beautiful and amazing daughter. She saw him as a person and not a damaged piece of trash. He knew he didn’t deserve it, but damn, how he longed for it. Surely she would treat him just like everyone else did when she found out his truth…but maybe, just maybe, she wouldn’t. What starts out as a much-needed friendship for both Jordan and Torrey turns into something much deeper and it’s that relationship that will be tested. Tested not only by the past, but also tested by the potential of a future together.
Every author has a certain character they write well. A type of character that remains with a reader long after the book has been read. For Ms. Harvey-Berrick, that type of character is the broken and damaged hero. My God, does she write them so well. I started this book and knew immediately I had to clear my calendar until I finished it. No way could I put this book down. And here I am, 24 hours after starting it, writing my review. This book was amazing. I don’t know if “amazing” can truly sum it up. Emotionally gut wrenching, poignant, touching, beautiful, full of hope and promise, yes…all of those things. Jordan is like a broken and battered puppy. He’s got a huge heart and has been paying for a horrible accident that happened when he was 16. Now 24, he may be out of jail, but he will never forgive himself for what happened just as no one else in town or in his family will. He truly believes he deserves all of the horrible treatment he’s been receiving and he’s stuck in this town until his parole ends. He broke my heart. Ripped it out, stomped on it and smooshed it in the dirt. I wanted nothing more than to heal this amazing boy. Then, in walks Torrey. Thank God for that girl! First off, she is a spitfire with a dirty mouth and full of life. I adore her. She had me laughing too many times to count and she was exactly what Jordan needed. Their relationship started out with Torrey busting through the walls Jordan has built up around himself and before long, the tables turn and it was Jordan’s turn to bust through her emotional walls. To see the transformation in Jordan as the book went on was a thing of beauty. All thanks to Torrey. On the flip side, I wanted to kick Jordan’s parents’ asses along with the other townspeople and their hideous treatment of him. But like yin and yang, there was a balance with a few of the townspeople who believed in Jordan and helped him live again.
I honestly went through a box of tissues reading this book. My chest physically aching for Jordan and his story while I was reading. I can’t remember the last time I wanted a happy ever after for a character so badly. This beautiful broken boy was just so deserving of one! Of course I can’t tell you if it happens but if you know me, you know I don’t recommend books that end poorly.
I’m certain I will be in a serious book hangover over Jordan and Torrey for a long time. I will always recommend Jane’s books and this is no exception. Get it on your list. Get some tissues and experience Lifers for yourself. It is so unbelievably worth it. Thank you, Ms. Harvey-Berrick, for yet another stellar read!(less)

Crimson Twilight is the second novella in the 1,001 Dark Nights Series as well as part of Heather Graham’s Krewe of Hunter series. This novella is packed with suspense from the very first page and I loved it! What starts out as a wedding trip filled with friends, joy and happy times ahead for Sloan and Jane quickly turns into anything but. The priest scheduled to perform their ceremony winds up dead at the bottom of the castle staircase and their dreams of wedded bliss are postponed as a murder investigation begins. But, like all things involving the Krewes, this is anything but a routine investigation. Talk of castle ghosts and wedding curses will turn this situation into a who-done-it involving the living and the dead.
Don’t let this story being novella length fool you…the amount of mystery and suspense packed into these pages was divine. From the very beginning we are treated to a murder mystery involving ghosts of an unlucky couple set to wed in this very castle many years ago, who unfortunately never got the chance. I wasn’t sure what to believe. Could an apparition really be responsible for murder? Could it be a member of the castle staff? With so many possibilities, I was kept on the edge of my seat until the very end. Sloan and Jane work so well together both as investigators and as a couple. Their tender moments amidst the murder inquiry were a bright spot in the darkness. Also woven into the mystery is the beautiful love story of John and Elizabeth. The ghostly couple who never got the chance to wed. Their story added another layer to Crimson Twilight that I truly enjoyed.
Overall, this was a truly entertaining and enjoyable read with an exciting and thrilling ending. Thank you, Heather, for a fantastic read!(less)

Enticing Interlude is the second book in author Michelle Mankin’s Tempest series and admittedly the first of her work that I have read. Both enjoyable and entertaining, this was a great read.
Single mom Bridget Dubois has recently lost the only family member she could ever count on and now faced with picking up the pieces has decided to start over in a new city. Thanks to a good friend she met in rehab, she has a place to stay until she can get her bearings in her new hometown. She has been hurt by too many people in the past and is beyond thankful to have found a true friend in Lace. It’s through her friendship that she meets Justin Jones, the talented and sexy musician and new front man of the rock band Tempest. After her less than stellar track record with men, Justin is a risk she isn’t willing to take. But trying to keep her distance gets really hard when Justin proves to be incredibly kind and sweet to both her and her son. Would she have the strength to stay away? More importantly, would she have the strength to give a relationship with Justin a chance?
Things are going really well for Justin Jones these days and after seeing the beautiful blond living with his friend Lace, things just got even better. He’s landed one of the most coveted positions in music, has finally managed to get his relationship with his family better than it ever has been and now after meeting Bridget starts to think in terms of a real relationship. Sure, it may seem fast but there’s just something special about her that he can’t ignore. After getting to know her better, he knows she’s been hurt in the past and Justin is determined to prove he won’t be one of the people to let her down. Her or her son. Justin wants to be in it for the long haul. Will she let him?
Together Justin and Bridget have a whole lot to work on as far as letting go of the past and moving forward together but with a little bit of luck and a whole lot of determination, they truly have a shot at a happily ever after.
The story of Justin and Bridget started out slow and steady and kept building at a terrific pace. I think that is one of my favorite things about this book. It was believable. Bridget’s guard is up and rightfully so. She isn’t going to just jump into things because she finds Justin attractive and attentive to her and her son. She’s got a smart head on her shoulders and I appreciated that. One of my other favorite things about this book was the relationship between Bridget and her son. Having a son of my own, I really enjoyed reading the interactions between mom and son. He’s an adorable and smart little boy and Bridget knows how lucky she is to have him. Justin is kind and patient, which is at total odds with his perceived bad boy rocker persona. I loved that about him. He was willing to wait for Bridget to learn to trust him and did everything in his power to make that decision an easy one for her. Together they make a great couple and family.
There were also a few side plots that were really interesting and added another layer to this love story. All in all, I think this is a story all romance fans will enjoy! Thank you, Michelle, for a great read!(less)

Blood Reunited is the third and final installment of author Amber Belldene’s Blood Vine Series, a series that I have loved from the very beginning. As sad as I am to see the end to this series I must say that I am equally happy with how it did end. It was absolutely perfect.
Blood Reunited picks up where the second book, Blood Entangled, left off and to say things are a mess for the Kastle Estate Winery would be a gross understatement. The situation with the Hunters and the wasting disease are at the most dire points and things have never looked bleaker.
But vampire Halfling, Bel, still has hope that he can cure the wasting disease and in turn save the vampire race. He has been working non-stop on in his lab and believes he’s isolated what makes the wine so important. He also believes he’s figured out the same thing about the Hunter blood. It’s all right there, practically in his grasp but alas, it keeps eluding him. To throw another monkey wrench into things, Uta is at the winery. Uta, Bel’s childhood friend, one of the oldest vampires in existence, and his blood mate. As if he needed this kind of distraction. Her presence has awoken a need in him he has never felt before and also has brought back all his childhood feelings of hurt when she pushed him away all those years ago. He still had no idea why she sent him away when he needed her most after his mother’s suicide and he certainly didn’t have time to worry about it now. He needed to focus on his work and saving vampires. Easier said than done.
Vampire Uta Ilirije has stayed away from Bel for as long as she could. Now, being forced to head to his family’s winery with the council so they could work on saving the vampires and stopping the Hunters, she would be forced to see him…and ignite the blood bond. A blood bond she had formed by accident. No matter what the circumstances though, she loved Bel. Always had. And seeing his distaste for her was crushing her. But she was a warrior and would do what it took to stop this war with the Hunters and in the end she hoped one day Bel could forgive her. Dare she hope along with his forgiveness he could learn to love her?
Adding to this storyline was Ethan Bennett and his new plaything, Gwen. Whoa, talk about one effed up relationship! Amber did one hell of a job portraying them as the uncaring, soulless fiends they are…or shall I say were.
We also learned more about the vampire race and their ancient relationship with the Hunters. Seeing all the pieces fit into place was pretty amazing and again, Amber did one hell of a job weaving their historic tale throughout the series with the culmination in Blood Reunited.
While reading this story the saying “it’s going to get worse before it can get better” kept rolling around in my head…because never had it been truer. Things with the Maras clan and the winery are a devastated mess and I was heartbroken for all they had to endure. Bel and Uta go through so much in terms of emotion and rehashing their personal history. Bel being stubborn and angry while Uta is broken and tired of feeling all the guilt she has carried over their blood bond. All of that being said, it made the ending ever sweeter. I had such a sense of contentment when I read “The End” and I finished this book with a smile. You know I won’t give anything away so you’ll have to red it for yourself to find out.
Amber, thank you for one of the most amazing series endings I have ever had the pleasure of reading and for giving us the Blood Vine Series. All you vampire lovers out there really need to read this series…you won’t be disappointed!(less)

Loving Cara is the first book in author Kristen Proby’s newest series, Under the Big Sky and talk about one hell of a debut. I loved everything about the book from start to finish.
Cara Donovan and Josh King have known each other for years. They went to high school together and still live in the same small town but despite the geography, they really don’t see much of each other. That all changes when Cara gets a job tutoring Josh’s nephew over the summer. Seth’s mother drops him off at the King’s family ranch and leaves without so much as a backward glance. Zach, Josh’s brother and Seth’s father, is in the Army and overseas for at least another month which means Seth was now Josh and his parents responsibility. No problem, right? Wrong. Seth needs a whole lot of love and attention to bring him out of the anger he’s settled into. He also needs whole lot of help in the schooling department which is where Cara comes in and ends up as Seth’s tutor. Luckily Cara is up for the challenge. Of course that means Cara and Josh will be spending a whole lot of time together and soon the attraction they both feel is too much to deny. Josh can’t believe his high school friend has grown into such a beautiful and smart woman and Cara is in awe of the handsome, sexy, and caring Josh. Sparks will fly and lust will ignite all while helping a young man learn to trust and love again. Will they all get their happy ending?
Man, I devoured this book. In less than a day. Cara and Josh have some serious heat building from the very beginning and it slowly builds at a delicious pace until they both decide to take the next step and holy hell. These two are HOT together! But beyond that, Cara and Josh come together to help Seth, and that’s where they shine. Where Josh is stern, Cara balances him out with a softer side and Seth stands to learn a lot from both of them. Of course there are a few bumps in the road for Cara and Josh, which makes it more emotional and intense and that much better. Along the way we meet Cara’s best friend Jillian (love the name, of course!), Jillian’s brother Ty, and at the end, Zach, Seth’s dad. All of them are fabulous, complex characters and I suspect we will be seeing more of them in this series and I can’t WAIT!
If you’re looking for a romance with serious heat, loads of emotions and a small town feel, this is the book for you! Thank you, Kristen, for a fantastic book and a series I look forward to continuing!(less)
Concealed is the first book in author Victoria Michaels’ Hidden series and a title I actually stumbled upon after a blog tour invite and it is truly a hidden gem and am SO glad I found it. I absolutely loved this book. Loved, loved, LOVED!
Sydney Ross has been on the run and looking over her shoulder for six years now and hasn’t ever had a moment to felt at home. That was until she cam here, to Elton Missouri. She has finally found somewhere where she can picture herself staying for the long term. People who treat her like family and that have embraced her. Her job at the local diner has given her friends she knows she would be able to count on when the chips are down. Her job has also given her the treat of seeing the sexy sheriff, Wade Jenkins, each and every day. Man, what Sydney wouldn’t do for a chance with a guy like him. She knows it’s safer for both of them to stay away from him but when the whole town points out that he has been coming to the diner for her, not just her pie, she starts to wonder if it could possibly work between them. Maybe she could finally leave her past in the past and get a chance to enjoy Wade and all he has to offer. After making her decision and just when things really heat up between them, her past comes slamming into her present with a murder and a clear message that she was in serious trouble. Would she ask the town of Elton, Wade, and her friends to risk everything to help her or would she pack up and run? Never has the decision been harder and never had so much been at stake.
Ok, so there’s a big giant piece of this story that I cannot give away in this review and one that the whole story hinges upon….one that makes this story so freaking amazingly good. Sydney left home at a young age and hasn’t looked back since. She hasn’t been able to. She’s a determined and strong willed gal with a smart head on her shoulders and a huge heart. I admired the steps she has taken to keep herself safe and somewhat happy. I was a nervous wreck for this poor gal for almost the entire book and felt as if I was right there next to her, looking over my shoulder as well. Luckily, she has sheriff Wade. Delicious, sexy, brooding, loyal sheriff Wade. I’ve read a whole lot of book guys and he ranks up there with my favorite. There is just something about him that had me swooning from the very beginning. He ends up being even more amazing than I could have imagined and the very end of this book had my crying happy tears. The rest of the cast of characters is just as fantastic. The kind and caring diner owners, the feisty neighbor, Sydney’s best friend….all of them played an important role and I so wish this was a town I wish I could go and visit.
The mystery surrounding Sydney is quite a doozy and I haven’t read anything like it before. It made this story intense, emotional and nerve wracking and when I got to the end, oh so satisfying. Concealed is a story that will be staying with me for quite some time, it was that good.
Thank you, Ms. Michaels, for an amazing story. I will be eagerly awaiting the next chapter in this series!(less)

In the Stars is the debut work from author Joan Duszynski and kicks off her In the Moments Series. It was a sweet and hot beginning with potential to sizzle more as the series continues. College sophomore Caroline Reyes is woken up early one morning by a very angry “other woman” and has no way of knowing it at the time, but things are about to change in almost status quo life. Turns out the angry gal, Tara, is the girlfriend of the guy her roommate has been shagging. They soon form a friendship that will introduce Caroline to a deliciously hot police detective….Tara’s brother. But before Caroline can explore that attraction, she catches the attention of a hottie physical therapist while attending one of her best friend’s therapy sessions. Torn between the two, Caroline finds herself wondering which her heart will end up choosing. I enjoyed this book and the rock and hard place Caroline is stuck between is a pretty yummy place to be. Both of her love interests have great qualities and she certainly has a tough choice. The was a delicious build up and slow burn throughout the whole book and it ended with the choice of guy I would have made for myself. There was plenty of steamy scenes and they were written really well *fans self*. Of course, my lips are sealed and I can’t reveal who it is! I look forward to see what the rest of the series holds for Caroline, Tara and the gang as In the Stars builds a pretty good foundation for the series ahead. Thank you, Joan, for an enjoyable read!(less)
