Iwww.booksforcompany.com When l started to read Stay it was clear it would overwrite my expectations by far and that it was going to be a great read. I loved how it was written and not just because it was in first person, which l usually like as l connect better with the characters, but because of how it was written. Deb just has a great way with words and getting emotions across. Because of how all the people in this story are seen from Clara’s point of view you are kind of pulled into feeling the emotions for them that she feels but at the same time you are given the chance to make up your own mind about them. I felt all kind of emotions for the characters in this story, even for Christian. Stay is definitely one of those books that makes you sees things in different ways and even makes you feel kind of sorry for characters you maybe shouldn’t feel sorry for. Clara is the main character in this story and is written from her POV with Clara explaining about why she is where she is now. What l loved about this book was how it goes back and forth in time. I tend to find these are the sorts of books which are so intense; Stay is one of those books where you don’t get a chance to breathe because of how intense it is. Especially when it changes from the current time to a few months back, leaving the current time in a cliff-hanger and by the time you leave the past, you are left with another cliff-hanger. Overall – l would really recommend this book! Stay is such a powerful book which stays with you even after you have finished reading it. Deb writes in a beautiful way which keeps you engrossed all the way through, you will find this one hard to put down!...more

It’s not the sort of book l am always reading at the moment but l think l will always like to go back to these sort of books every now and then as l do enjoy them. When l started to read this book l was very glad l pick it up from my pile of books. The 1st page of this book grabbed my attention straight away and l cannot see it failing to win any person over. What l loved most about the 1st page is how it introduced us to the first character in the book, Paisley, how quick l felt l know her. Seriously, from the first page l knew more about Paisley than l did about most characters within 2/3 chapters. C.J. then went on to introduce Beau, Paisley’s twin brother. I also felt like l knew him rather quickly. Not only did l love how quickly l felt like l knew them, l loved their characters. Skuse did such a great job of building up their characters, making them different, stand out and making sure their actions were true to the characters she had portrayed. Pretty Bad Things is written from the POV of two people, Paisley has one chapter and Beau has the other. At the beginning l much preferred Paisley’s chapters because of the character she is but as the book got more into it l very much enjoyed seeing into Beau’s mind too. The story line is quite a fast paced one and although l felt like this book was a character lead story (in no way bad!) l did also enjoy the twins journey in this book. I liked how the book kept to realistic things, especially as l got so into this book l felt like it had really happened and l was there with them. Bringing something ‘fake’ into this book would have ruined it, once or twice Paisley or Beau said about a fairytale but how this wasn’t one. Overall this is a great read, l really recommend it to everyone, even if this isn’t your usual type of book. C.J. has put so much character into this book, one minute you will be laughing and the next you will have a worried expression on your face! ...more

In Long I don’t know what sort of book I expected from Raw Blue but it didn’t lived up to the big expectations I had because of all the hype around it. I don’t know whether it was just because I was left feeling like I missed something which others got but I didn’t or because although I wasn’t expecting a certain sort of book I still wasn’t expecting what I got. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed Raw Blue and I came to really like the main character, Carly, after a bit of a rocky start with not quite ‘getting her’ but this book felt like it never had a point to it. I think I am left feeling this because of how it was written. Kirsty is a good writer but just not my sort of writer and I can’t explain the writing style to you, you just need to read this book yourself. What I will say though is that I was often left confused by it because it felt like it was all in the wrong order. For example it would mention a character who you have never met before and the ‘introduction’ to the character would come a lot later in the book so you are kind of left in limbo. In other ways Kirsty's writing is something I liked, it flowed really well and left you really understanding Carly’s feeling while at the same time not necessarily understanding her actions. The romance in this book is the best thing about Kirsty’s writing. She wrote it in a way where you fall in love with the people as a couple. I have never read a romance which was so so far from being cheesy while at the same time being unbelievably cute! It’s one of the easiest romances to believe and this felt so fresh for me. I think from this book I expected some sort of happiness but I never really felt it in this book, at no point! I think I can honestly say it’s one of the first books I have read that truly is very raw. Everything about it. The relationships, the emotions, the way Carly sees her life. It’s all very true but very depressing.I didn’t always get why Carly acted the way she acted or said the things she said but that’s ok, all people do things we don’t understand. It was another thing which made me believe in Carly. Final Thoughts I don’t really know how to round this book up. I loved it while I disliked it at the same time. I actually love how this book brought so many different thoughts and feeling to me, I have never had a book which has made me fall in love with the romance so strongly while still feeling slightly distant from the main girl. I think this is definitely a great read and you won’t find another book written like this (unless it’s written by Kirsty!). I can see why people loved this book and although I didn’t fall in love with it, I still really liked this book. Just a little note : This book is written by an Australian lady and based in Australia. There is Australia slang in this book you may not understand! www.booksforcompany.com 4.5/5 This is one of those books l would have never read if it wasn’t for all you bloggers and it’s definitely one of those bookwww.booksforcompany.com 4.5/5 This is one of those books l would have never read if it wasn’t for all you bloggers and it’s definitely one of those books which makes me have even more faith in your amazing taste, my fellow bloggers! I actually, not long ago, finished ‘Deadly Little Secret’ and l absolutely loved how it included chapters from the stalkers point of view. For a lot of Deadly Little Secret' l found myself looking to see how far it was until the next chapter by the stalker. Now, not much longer ‘down the line’ l find this gem of a book which also has a chapter every now and then from the POV of the murder. I really have fallen in love with this way in which a book is written and Kimberly did it great. It really adds to the mystery of the books and doesn’t really give many clues away at all but instead just makes you ask more questions. Anyway, this book starts in quite a calm way which l liked as l got to know Violet and straight away fell in love with Jay. Not long after the action picked up quickly and l was totally engrossed in this book! What l mostly loved is it’s not all about Violets ‘powers’ but also has a few interesting relationships in this book. I found the relationship with her parents an interesting one which felt very thought through by Kimberly. And then of course there is the relationship between Violet and Jay which takes a very front seat in this book (and l hope continues into the second book) Violet felt like a very normal girl who l am sure a lot of people will feel like they can relate to with her problems (not her powers!) I have seen some people felt she sometimes made silly decisions which l do agree with but then l think maybe you would with how Violet felt. I think Kimberly did amazing to understand how someone in that situation would feel. I am excited to read Desires Of The Dead but l do fear it will not be as good as The Body Finder, l just feel that this book ended in a great way. We will have to see though! There is just one reason why it's not 5/5 and is instead 4.5/5 and that's just because l felt a relationship in this book changed too easily and l like to see and feel things are a bit more 'real' which l felt Kimberly did all the way through the book till then. (Explained below, spoiler) Overall l would really recommend this read to everyone. I feel some scenes may not be suitable for much younger readers (10/11) and l was certainly on edge at points and wouldn’t have wanted to read at night by myself (l am often called a wimp though) If you haven't read this l recommend reading half the blurb, l didn't read the other half and l am glad l didn't, it lets you know the half of it! ...more
http://www.booksforcompany.com/ I am unsure about this book, not in a bad way, l just don’t know how to rate it. Right at the beginning l got really inhttp://www.booksforcompany.com/ I am unsure about this book, not in a bad way, l just don’t know how to rate it. Right at the beginning l got really into this book, l absolutely loved the plot in this book and how unique it is. Towards the end of the book, which was when the books pace got very fast, l found l wasn’t as ‘into’ the book. I don’t know if it was myself, maybe l felt a bit distracted, but l just felt a bit 'distant' from the characters which l had grown a 'bond' with! Either way, this book is amazing. Everything l read in this book was so unique, l haven’t come across a book like this before which l always really love in a book. One thing l found unique about this book is how much depth Jennifer goes into with how the werewolves think and feel, it’s quite amazing but also strange in the way it is probably quite real. The characters in Raised By Wolves are all very strong ones, even the ones which don’t play a huge role were very well developed. The main character, Bryn, is a very strong person who doesn’t mind testing the limits and boundaries set for her. This is a great characteristic for a main character as it makes their actions unpredictable and therefore the book is never predictable. The people around Bryn all stand out for their own reasons, so much so that they could also be main characters because of the amount you know about them. I never predicted any part of this book (apart from what the blurb 'hints' towards) and in no way did l see what was going to happen towards the end, for some reason, like l mentioned, l wasn’t totally gripped for the first bit but then by the last 30 pages l was engrossed. The action was never ending! I think probably the only thing l didn’t connect with in this book is the sudden connection between Bryn and the ‘male’ (depending on if you read the blurb or not, l don’t want to ruin anything for you). I understand there is kind of an explanation behind the sudden feelings but in another way l also found it hard to connect with any interactions between the two characters. It all felt a bit, fake, in some ways. It just happened too quickly! Saying that, this book isn’t just about romance between two people in any way, this book focuses strongly on a ‘pack bond’ between the wolves. This may seem strange as humans can never totally understand the pack bond between animals but when l was reading this book l found it easy to believe what Jennifer wrote because it felt very real and like she had seen into an animal’s mind. This book surprised me in some parts and l felt Jennifer included things which other authors may miss out as it's a YA book but l am glad she did include these parts. In particular there is one scene which shocked me but also showed how strong the pack bond and rules are. I liked this because Jennifer, right from the start, makes the reader see how important it all is and then she shows this by following through with it by the wolves actions. Overall this is a great, intriguing read which you will not regret picking up! Jennifer has created a new world within this book which lets you see inside the minds of. P.S Sorry this review is quite bad! I struggled to write this and not give away spoilers....more

This was one of those books that l didn't know what to expect from and l admit, l didn't actually read the blurb before l did a swap for it. I actually did a swap for it because l had seen this book on so many different blogs and because l trust you lot so much, l didn't need to read the blurb!
When l started to read this l was straight away drawn in, it's one of those books that after the first chapter you know that this is going to be an amazing book. I didn’t realise how amazing! The whole tine l spent reading this book l kept telling the people around me (family) how great it is. What makes it so great l hear you ask? Everything in the book makes it great!! The characters are really well developed, even those in the background are developed enough that l felt like l knew them myself. This is what made me love the book so much, as the characters have so much depth to them l actually started to feel like l was really there. At a lot of points in the book my heart was beating so fast and l was totally zoned into the book. Not only are the characters amazing but the story in this book is so engrossing and kept my attention throughout the book, reading it really quickly and in big chunks (Usually read throughout the day instead of for 2 hours at a time). It is just one of those books which are really hard to put down and even when a chapter has ended in quite a 'calm' way, I still wanted to keep reading. Overall l really really loved this book, l am pretty sure it will be my favourite of the month and in my top 10 for the year! I loved the added mini chapters which were written by the stalker and also how the action in this book is never ending! I felt the final scene could have been dragged out a bit longer to make it better but l have no ‘complaints!’ ...more

As I’m sure everyone has, I had heard amazing things about Anna and The French Kiss so therefore expected this to be a good read which I would thoroughly enjoy. What I didn’t expect was to feel the way I did and as strongly as I did! I have said it before and I will say it again, there is a few special books which come along every now and then (quite rarely!) which are near impossible to put down, near impossible not to fall in love with and impossible not to get completely drawn into this! Anna and The French Kiss is one of these. I have to admit, the storyline isn’t the most gripping ever, neither is it the most unique story line but it’s not really the story line which made me addicted to this book. It’s the way which Stephanie has written it and given the characters so much depth that they became real people to you and things going on in their life become so real you feel like it’s your best friend telling you the story. As well as the depth to the characters her writing is something which can not be missed or without giving credit too. Her writing flowed so well which made it even harder to put this book down. Stephanie was able to make me become engrossed in the two main characters lifes to the point where the day to day things they did became interesting to me. While Anna became my best friend, St Clair became my 'secret' crush who I fell in love with more and more! I loved the different romances in this book, especially the main two which were so alike at some points and so different at others. The main romance was so so cute, i fell more and more in love with it with each page and it got cuter and cuter. Everything in this book is so likeable. Nothing about this book felt like a typical book or a typical romance, it was all so unique, sweet and real. Over all Anna and The French Kiss is definitely as good as everyone is making out and don't let all the hype turn you off! This is a book which you can't help but fall in love with.

This book was not in ANY way hard to get into it. It straight away draws you into the story, introducing you to Willow in a way which then leaves you with a lot of questions about what is going on, who they are etc. I found this a good thing and not in a confused way (until further in the book) but instead very intrigued. I didn’t feel all the characters in this book were amazingly developed; l would have liked to have seen some more depth to some of them. Mainly Willow’s parents as they just seemed to spend their whole time worrying about Willow so l felt that is the only side l really saw of them. Saying that, Willow is well developed and for me, the reader, she felt very real. Her emotions are clear and although sometimes she did annoy with me carrying out very silly actions you kind of feel like it’s acceptable with what she is going through. Not only is Willow a very developed character who is great to read about, the story line is a very interesting one too. It is a very unique read which was never predictable in any places. When you first start to read this story you feel like everything is ‘set out in front of you’, so to say, but actually so much more happens in this book which is unthinkable. So much is so very unique and so refreshing to find out about this new world with Jamie Magee has written about in a lovely and easy way to understand. Overall this is a great book which really does not have enough recognition at all! If you’re looking for a book which will pleasantly surprise you then this is the book =) I don’t really have anything negative to say about this book, the only reason it isn’t 4.5/5 is just because in some places l felt a bit disconnected from the story because of the way love is 'found' and it is sometimes confusing towards the end. I look forward to reading another book by Jamie Magee...more

Wow it was. It left me speechless. The thing about this book is, for most of it, Stolen is set in the same place with the same two characters yet never in this book did l get bored of the characters or the story. Never. l was constantly holding out for the next line, the next chapter. Needing to find out what happens, needing to stay in the world alongside Gemma. I could never guess what was going to happen next and if l guessed a tiny bit of it, something bigger would surprise me. First off, what makes this so amazing is the emotions. Gemma truly feels like a real person, l bow down to Lucy and how she got the emotion so right! It was how l could imagine myself acting if l found myself in Gemma's situation. Gemma is such a likeable characters, not just a typical teenager but someone l really felt like l was there alongside her feeling the emotions she was feeling. Feelings which are explained in such a great way by Lucy. Ty, the captor is a very unique character, the perfect character for this book. Creepy but not too creepy to be kind of likeable. I have seen a few reviews where people have said they liked him and although it may sound strange if you haven't read this, l liked him too! Being honest, l can see some people may not enjoy this if the writing style isn't right for them but for me Lucy Christopher is a beautiful writer, she gets across the emotions in this book which are so important with this type of book. I think it shows that the writing is beautiful when you find yourself crying at the end of the book for the characters. Overall this is must read for everyone for me. Stolen is one of those rare books which makes you feel like your a different person in the writers world. l seriously don't think any review l write will show you how amazing this book is in every way. This is my favourite book of February and l am sure will be in my top 10 of the year. I will be looking out for more books by Lucy!...more

Jenna kind of just annoyed me with her spoilt ways, well it was actually Charlie who acted like that (her real name). At the beginning it didn't annoy me which is probably why l enjoyed the first 100 pages more but after a while it started to drain me and l just wanted to say "Wake up, spoilt brat! Why are you 'snapping' that easily?". I always think if a character makes you feel this way they are written in a way which makes them feel real but l have to say, sadly, for Jenna it just didn't work. I felt she was just so spoilt and that was all that was for her. Jonah annoyed me at points but he also had a funny side and a very confident side to him which was interesting to read about. I think for me this was my first problem, Jenna/Charlie just wasn't explored enough, it just seemed to always be the same responses from her to Jonah. Characters in stories have to each be very unique and very explored and Jenna just wasn't explored enough for me. Moving on, the story is quite predictable but it's one of those that is but is still enjoyable. I think that's what makes predictable books good, the fact interactions between the characters are fun to read about. Another probelm for me though was how some conversations just didn't flow. It was like someone was having a conversation and kept just saying random things. It was kinda of fun and funny to read at some points but in others it's like "What are they talking about now?" or "That felt like a pointless sentence". At sometimes l kind of just got so confused by what they were talking about l didn't even know who was actually talking. Saying all that, l did like this book. At some points it had me laughing out loud, mostly in Jonah's chapters and l found it a nice read with a book which is focused in today's time instead of one with vampires or focused in a time 60 years from now! Overall it's a light read which will be good to read if your feeling distracted or a good relaxing read for the beach or bed time. l would recommend it to anyone who likes fun reads which has the little twist of the romance being filmed .. l think this added to the story a lot. ...more
http://www.booksforcompany.com/ l am going to start off by saying the few little things in this book which meant, for me, it’s a 4.5 and not a 5. My onlhttp://www.booksforcompany.com/ l am going to start off by saying the few little things in this book which meant, for me, it’s a 4.5 and not a 5. My only real 'complaint' of this book is a few things were repeated too much which gave me the impression some sentences were forced. The sentences which felt forced didn’t flow with what was happening, it kind of felt like déjà vu and l found myself thinking ‘Didn’t you just say/think/do that a second ago?’ For explain if a feeling was being described sometimes the same feeling would be described a paragraph down, not always in the same way but still something which has already been said. Minus my negative feelings, repeating things can sometimes be a good thing, at one point l didn’t understand what had happened but because it was kind of said again l then understood it. Saying that, like l said above, l felt for some feelings the reader already understood them and it didn’t need to be repeated. Ok, on a more positive note, l LOVED this book! First off the cover and inside of the book really stands out, the cover is sooo shiny and the page numbers etc are red as well as a picture of a few trees at the bottom of each page, l loved that! Apart from how appealing the book is to read its obviously not the most important thing, the writing inside is! Well let me tell you, Ivy has wrote an amazing debut book. The writing is great with an engrossing plot behind it that shows off Ivy’s writing and imagination skills. I don’t think it’s an action packed book because, like l said, some scenes and actions feel a bit repeated in this book. For me though that didn’t matter too much, l was engrossed by Avery’s struggles and discoveries and enjoyed following her journey. It felt like the ending of this book hinted towards a second to follow which would suit some people as l have heard some felt not too much happened in this book and was more developing of the characters. I can’t see this myself, l think this is a great book within itself and do feel relationships between the characters will be interesting to see how they grow and change and should be a big part of the second book, if there is one. Overall l would really recommend this book, it’s not a big book but is an enjoyable read and definitely a debut author of 2011 who will grab your attention!...more

First off it's not something l would usually read, the female being the sort of 'hunter/law enforcer' doesn't usually interest me. Anyway l wanted to start to try different things and give them a go, you never know what you might like! After finishing this book l am so glad l read it! Lindsay is a great writer, the story flows well and nothing seemed rushed which isn't always easy when you have such a fast paced book. As well as loving Lindsay's writing l also really liked the characters in this story, they are all very likeable and although this is a very engrossing story line with a great plot behind it l felt the characters made this book. The characters are developed really well to the point where you feel like you know them as a friend. They are all unique and l actually really liked every character in this story. Sicarius managed to be a likeable character (for me) in a very 'weird' way as he is actually quite a heartless character but he is one of those people who you like because of how they are! Amaranthe reminded me of myself in some ways, she is a very caring character who wants to be strong and often is but sometimes shows not all things are easy for her, this makes her more real for me. The interactions between the characters were also written in such a great way. I actually found myself laughing quite a lot while reading this, all the characters are so unique in their own ways but also are very funny with the things they will do or say. The book mainly made me laugh because of how the characters were with each other. The Emperor's Edge focuses a lot on doing things as a team and most of the time this was the focus so the interactions between the characters were really very important and could either 'make or break' this book. For me it really made it. Overall this is a great read. You will find yourself feeling all sort of emotions, one second you may me laughing and the next your eyes will be glued to the book and your heart beating fast while trying to read as quick as you can! Lindsay is a writer to look out for and l am sure when you read one of her books you will be wanting to read another!...more
When l received this book (Thanks again Diana) l was shocked by how small the book is, it’s only 192 pages. You couldn't be blamed for thinking ‘Can this book be any good when it’s so small? Can it introduce the characters in time and get a good story line in?’ well in answer to that, yes. Yes it is a good book even though it is only 2/3 the size of most books, yes it does let you get to the know the characters well but still have a good story line behind it, yes the size of the book fits the story perfectly.
I was straight away drawn into the book even though the beginning is a bit confusing. When you understand it, it is very clever way to start the book and definitely makes you want to read on. More importantly, when it keeps you wanting to read more Memento Nora doesn’t feel rushed, you have the information you need to follow the story, probably not as much as any books but enough. I didn’t know the book is told from three peoples point of view but l enjoyed this, although sometimes l forgot to look who’s point of view the next chapter is fro. I felt by doing it from more than one persons point of view it meant the information you need is there as you are in three peoples 'minds'
This book is hard to write a review about without containing spoilers as everything happens quite quickly. l wouldn’t say there is ALOT going on in the book but it still keeps me engrrossed, mainly because l love the concept of this book about the pill which you can take. The differences between characters also interested me, l love how they interacted together when they are different (In ways l won’t say) Also like l mentioned above, the characters are still developed well even though everything happens quite quickly in this book. I felt l knew Nora as well as l know other characters that are in books that are 400 pages long, that shows the book is written well in my eyes!...more

I think it suits the book well and sometimes covers have nothing to do with a book so this is refreshing that this cover does. Saying that l don't love the colours which is why it's only a 3.5. Anyway onto the actual book and my opinion. The blurb tells you a lot about this book and l worried about how many more things could come up in this book which weren’t already told in the blurb. I do feel blurbs sometimes give so much away. Anyway just let me say, the blurb doesn’t tell you the HALF of it!!! I have to admit, 50 pages into this book l WAS enjoying it but found myself a bit nervous that it was going to be too much like other books and not stand out. Boarding school, girl with passed away family, secrets, the nerd at her old school. Then suddenly everything changed, the storyline took to a whole new level! As l got further into this book l was very pleasantly surprised, Kristi really made her unique thoughts and her take on the paranormal world known in this book. WOW was l nicely surprised. Things came from nowhere and twists on the paranormal world which l am so used to reading about were changed. Simple things about the different ‘paranormal’ creatures which are common in lots of paranormal books were twisted and changed in this book to make a new world. That alone made me fall in love with this book. It’s so refreshing, Kristi ideas are truly amazing! This book is not just a refreshing read but a very fast paced book with great characters in which are developed the more you get into the book. Even though it’s around 400 pages this isn't too long at all, the pages really whizzed by because Kristi constantly brings something new into the story. In some places it will mention about a character going to do something but then will skip forward in time and explain what happened in a few sentences. This may sound stupid but l always think these are thought out books to have so much going on and to make something which could be a chapter long into a few lines! Over-all l would strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes paranormal, its a fast paced book with great twists. Kristi is really an author to watch out for and l will be excited to read any books which she releases in the future....more
This book never really stuck out and made me really want to read it, it doesn’t have my sort of cover and the blurb doesn’t grab my attention a lot but this book is amazing. I feel rather lucky this year because the amount of amazing books l have read already! I have no idea how l will choose my top ten of 2011. Be a lot harder than the top 10 for 2010! Anyway on to my thoughts. This book pretty much has something going on from the beginning, the main story line is introduced within the first 30 or so pages. This is good but l did feel one thing happened a bit too fast and l was like “would it really happen that quick?” In fact there were a few scenes where l was thinking “what who’s that character again? Are they related to them or them? Are they good? Evil?” l just got a bit confused which ruined some scenes for me which could have been good and more gripping. Most of the time my confusion was answered by Kelly as she did well to go over things but there are a lot of characters. When a story has a lot of characters you can sometimes struggle to get to know them enough but Kelly a few main characters so you could grow a bond with them. Ari is a character that has had a few problems in life and wants to try and put to rest some of them. Sometimes she annoys me a bit with what l felt was overreacting in some cases, being a really angry sort of person and being a wimp in some ways but then really strong with other things. For example in one scene l would of been really scared but she wasn’t and then in a scene a less big thing is happening and she is scared! Saying that l think Kelly did an amazing job of putting forward Ari’s feelings to the readers and her thoughts. It really made her feel real. One of the only ‘negative’ thing l thought about Darkness Becomes Her while reading this was totally random sentences. E.g. - ‘l could look at him forever. But there was something he would never ever know’. L can see how this makes sense but l think it just needs to be explained a little bit more, like what she’s feeling when looking at him. I had seen lots of very positive reviews on this book but it still didn’t grab me as a must read. To be honest l read it next because l only had 8 days left to read it and it’s a short story (240 ish pages). BUT l am VERY glad l read this and chose to read it next!!! Wow. From the start this book is very interesting because of Kendall and how much of a unique character she is, she suffers from OCD which plays a big part in this story and is brought up a lot in the book and follows her struggle. Also because she lives in a small town it makes for very interesting relationships with characters, how these change as the story goes on and the things which she comes to realise about her relationships with people around her (Explained on my blog in the review). I did really like Kendall, l thought she was a very normal girl who l would get on with myself if she was a real person. She pretty much kept herself to herself and enjoyed doing normal things. I had been told this was a creepy book and l am a bit of a wimp so l was scared l wouldn’t enjoy it as it would freak me out too much but being honest, if you read this in the day you will be fine! Yes it’s creepy but in the good way which keeps your heart beating fast and desperate to find out more! It’s definitely one of those books where you wish you could skip a few lines or read faster just to find out what’s going to happen! With a book which is built up so much around one thing and finding out about the one thing, eg who is causing something, the answer to your BIG and main/only question throughout the whole book has to be a good one. I have read a few books which are so intriguing but when you read the end its kinda like, Oh. Is that it? This WASN’T one of those books! I loved the whole story behind it and felt the story is nicely wrapped up and answered all the questions which l had throughout the book. Overall I can’t say l was bored at any point in this story and the pages whizzed by. I am glad Lisa didn’t try to force anything else in the story just to make the book big, l sometimes feel like authors do this and some books could be half the size. You get to know each character just enough and the plot is just gripping. SO worth a read! ...more

I have so much to say about this book, l have a whole list of notes writtenhttp://jodiesbookreviews.blogspot.com Check out the link above for ratings. I have so much to say about this book, l have a whole list of notes written that l started to write after l had read the first chapter. Before l start my review l have to say l didn't expect much from this book, the cover doesn't grab me at all BUT this book was a nice surprise. Even if l didn't always enjoy the concept of it, its a thought out book! Oh and also before l start, just to get it out the way, l was often annoyed but the constant exclamations being used. Yes l use them lots but in a story they seem totally out of place being used so much. I did warn you, l have a lot to say about it. ~ I haven't read a book in awhile that l have had a strong love and hate relationship with it and not known which one l side with the most. First and foremost l should let you know this book is set ahead of time, around 2086 l think it said somewhere in the book. I think this is always daring because you need try to guess how advanced we are going to be by then. I think Hilari got it right most of the time and l loved nearly all of the things which she added to the world which Kelsa lives in. ~ Now for my thoughts. This book actually started off as a great surprise as l was enjoying it a lot, l liked how the characters were introduced and Raven had great character at the beginning and l really warmed to him. Kelsa on the other hand l felt myself getting annoyed at her, she is rather mean to her mother and as l am very close to my mother l didn't get how she could be like that. A bit spoilt she came across in a few chapters. Anyway at least they had their personality's at the beginning because suddenly as the story went on the l felt the two characters lost their personality and become flat. This may have been because Hilari seemed to focus so much on the plot that the building of their characters seemed abandoned. Stuff was being repeated as well as finding myself totally lost in a few sections and not understanding what was happening at all. ~ The plot itself is the main thing which l am struggling on deciding if l loved it or hated it. It's confusing, interesting, frustrating, repetitive .. as you can see, its a lot of things! I truly don't know, l wasn't bored by the plot and its certainly a unique concept which Hilari had obviously thought into but l felt in some ways it was just too .. strange. Sometimes l connected with it and other times l didn't and its the times when l didn't connect with it when l am thinking "Please make Raven and Kelsa a bit complex!'. I honestly still don't know where l stand, l actually feel confused! ~ I guess at the end of the day my final verdict comes down to if l will read the next in the series. Yes. Just because l want to find out what happens as l am a nosey person but l won't be a rush to read the next one. Being honest though l would probably be satisfied with reading someone's review which tells me what happens next....more
http://jodiesbookreviews.blogspot.com/ I brought this book to read as l had the second book to review called Always a Witch (Not yet released). l neverhttp://jodiesbookreviews.blogspot.com/ I brought this book to read as l had the second book to review called Always a Witch (Not yet released). l never like to read a book which is second in the series before having read the first book because l hate missing out on a good book and would never read the first book after reading the 2nd already. Anyway, my thoughts - Carolyn is a new author for me and l am glad l have found her, l love the way she writes, her writing style makes the book constantly interesting and great to read. This book is also one of my first (if not my first .. can't remember) book which l have read that focuses so much on the magic that the characters hold. I was a bit nervous this would be too unrealistic but actually you quickly get dragged into the world which is created and start to believe this world really exists. I love how the book started off and Tasmin introduced me to her world and that she felt a very normal girl. The characters and their relationships are fun to read about, l especially loved the relationship between Tamsin and her sister. It is so similar to real sister relationships out there (mine included with my sister!) but has the added factor of the magic in the family which makes it very funny to read about. You find the characters themselves and the relationship between other characters changing as the story goes on and bonds between characters are quite out of the blue! The complex connections and ties between different people in this book makes for an interesting 'community' within the book and more so because of the different opinions with the characters hold about their family. As well as many of the bonds between the characters coming as a surprise the main storyline within this book was not expected. I thought l had a idea of how this book would turn out but l was totally wrong with new twists coming up in this book constantly. It really is a book which you can't get bored reading. The talents which Carolyn included in this book was great, l loved every single one of them and some were a very clever idea . I was excited to start the second book, Carolyn really leaves you with a cliffhanger in this book and l would very much recommend it, it's so close to being a 4.5....more

All the new characters which are brought into this bhttp://jodiesbookreviews.blogspot.com/ I loved Once a Witch but l loved Always a Witch even more!!! All the new characters which are brought into this book are unique, interesting characters which all have a real meaning within the story meaning none feel out of place or just 'there' which l find can happen in 2nd books in a series. Tasmin is developed even more within this story and l felt her character stayed the same which is a good thing when you liked her character in the previous book. I have seem numerous of reviews where the characters have just changed too much in the second book, l felt the complete opposite of this! The plot is even faster paced than in Once a Witch (which was pretty fast paced) and you can't stop at any place within this book and not find yourself wondering what's going to happen next until you pick the book up next. Even when you get to the next chapter there is always a cliffhanger making you want to read more! The ending was nearly a disappointment but then l got to the last 5% (Kindle) and it totally turned around, WOW! It's not a big cliffhanger if there is going to be a third book and being honest it would be a good ending to the whole series as l feel satisfied with the ending, its one of those books you put down and are left with a book smile on your face. At some points l did find myself confused because the times changing but most of the time l came to understand the thing l was confused about. The concept of the time seemed very thought out at all times and it was actually very interesting sitting there trying to figure it out then being like "Oh yes, thats very clever!" Overall l loved this book, its a fun read which leaves you laughing in some places but also totally gripped in others. The interactions between the characters are great to read, even more so with the new characters and the good/evil traits. ...more
I started this book having seen lots of great reviews on it and can’t remember seeing one bad review. This often makes me nervous about a book because at times books which have a lot of great reviews don’t live up to my expectations. This book did! More than anything else l love about this book, its unique. Cynthia has come up with her own ideas and made her own little world. Never have l read a book and been interested in the environment which the characters live in. Mostly l am so focused on getting to know the characters l don’t care much for the detail of their surroundings. In this book l did because Cynthia put across the image in my head of what Clara was seeing and l became interested. This book is very fast paced and l could see it easily being made bigger (and l believe the released book is.. l got the ARC} For example Cynthia skips a whole section which l feel could of had it’s own chapter. I didn’t feel this was a bad thing as it made the book even more engrossing and still gave you a ‘round up’ of what had happened. I love Clara, she is a lovely character which although with her ‘powers’ she is a very nervous person with not a lot of confidence and l felt sorry for her in some parts of this book. In fact l loved all the characters in this book. They were all developed well and very different from each other. I also loved the relationships in this book, especially the relationship between Clara and her mother. It was very real, with their ups and downs and her mother trying to look after her/protect her but Clara disliking her mother for doing so. This book constantly keeps you thinking and throws more things at you. What l loved about this book is how you never knew what Clara was going to do and l felt a lot of the things she did other authors have ‘stopped’ their characters from doing this even though they have hinted to it and the characters have had to choose, they have always chose the other option. (Explained below .. in SPOLIER section) I really recommend this book to any paranormal lovers, its a great read and well worth the time spent reading it!...more

It's just not that sort of book and after the blurb you kind of expect a bit more than what you get! Saying that I am glad l have read this but can't help feeling if l read it a few years back when l was younger (l am 18) then l would of enjoyed this even more. The writing isn't amazing, its pretty simple and at some points l would say its quite poor with very simple sentences which ruins the communication between two characters. For instance you know when you feel a sentence could be written in such a better way? l felt that many times. Likewise a few things this book deals with would be perfect for someone younger but for me how they were written in the book felt very emotionless, towards the end the way it was written got to me so l found the things which should be quite sad and should of made the reader feel something, didn't make me feel anything. At sometimes this book contradicted itself, at one point a character was mean't to be a person who Dante got on with then 5 minutes later they are having a heart to heart, l just didn't get it! Once this had happened l was more fussy and picked up on other things which got to me. The unrealistic parts in this book annoyed me. If a life changing thing happened would you just carry on like nothing happened? Well characters in this book did and seemed to with ease. I then got a bit frustrated with how the baby (l think around 2) seemed to be able to talk so well and understand a lot, the things the baby said l felt they wouldn't ever say. It's definitely a book that you could read if you find your distracted a lot and need an easy read as its quite easy to put down and come back to whenever. Overall - I wouldn't buy this book and probably won't read another by this author but l found this book ok and wouldn't want to have left it unfinished! ...more
