I wanted to much to LOVE this book, I really did, considering how much I loved the first two and tried to get as many people to read it as I could but it really let me down. I don't know what I was hoping for, I guess some quasi Truman Show meets M. Night Shamalamadingdong's the Village fit within the world that was built in the first two but I was hoping for something totally different outside of the city walls. In my mind the city was walled in to protect the citizens from something like, radioactive or biochemical. That upon leaving, they would be killed or have to start anew not, "Oh, now that we're outside, you want to go to like, the mall?".
The other thing that gets me about these books is the Purity Wars. Much like in the Hunger Games, is this thing happening globally, or was it centralized in the Americas. Is this going on all over the world? Or is England still full of genetically pure people? How is the rest of the world dealing with the problems going on in America?
Who knows, but I was really, really rooting for this book and I feel like I was left VERY unfulfilled. A solid 3 stars since it wrapped everything up but still left me with questions.(less)

No for real, what the fuck just happened? Who the hell ends a book like that?! I'm so angry now. Clearly this book is just a bridge between books because way too much happens. It was like, there's all this buildup, a climax, and no resolution. There's supposed to be a resolution! That's what we all learned in English class, right? Even in a series, each book usually follows a pattern. Way to jack that up. I AM NOT PLEASED!
All in all though, it was pretty good. The POV switches kind of got annoying after awhile but the change in font to differentiate between people was adequate. I liked the expansion on the different characters relationships, or lack thereof. Good character development too, many characters, especially Marina, found their voices. Even though the ending left TOO MUCH to be desired, I can't wait until the next installment to answer the questions I'm so desperately seeking!(less)

Blay and Saxton... Saxton and Blay....
Blay and Quhinn and Saxton....
I have to read 2 more books until I can devour Lover at Last and this just annoyed the shit out of me... Obviously Quhinn loved Blay just as much as Blay loves Quhinn, bitches need to stop pussy footing around shit and get it all out on the table.
I've been in this situation, being in love with your best friend and having them give you ALL the signals, say all the right things, and when you finally get the courage to reveal your innermost feelings they shoot you down. They rip your heart out of your chest, still beating, throw it on the ground, douse it in gasoline, light it on fire and put the fire out with a meat tenderizer. If that wasn't bad enough, I'm pretty sure they sat on it and let one...
So yea, I'm heart broken at the moment with the whole Blay and Quhinn situation...
In other news, I'm really happy for John and Xhex. After I finished this, I text my friend Alisa with the question, "How the fuck does one sign made up words like, Shellan and Whard? I'm pretty sure the ASL Dictionary doesn't have fucking made up vampire words in it."
I'm pretty sure I can wave my hands around Helen Keller style and make up words too.
Anywho, do I really give two shits about Darius' diary, not really. Do I give three shits about the ghost hunter wannabe's, again, not really. I know they have to do with Xhex and Muhrder, but who cares. Get to the hot sexy love makin' between John and Xhex.
All in all, a solid 4 stars... Add more Blay and Quhinn and maybe a Saxton (threesome!(Fuck off, I know they're cousins but this is vampire world and Rehv was fucking his sister so fuck you!)) scene here and there and it would have been an easy 5... Oh well, I guess I have to wait until Lover At Last for that :)(less)

Don't be mad at me for rating this higher than Vishous' book! I hate Phury, he's a piece of shit drug addict that doesn't deserve Cormia, Zsadist, or Bella buuuuuuuut, This is the first book where Blay and Quhinn get all hot and heavy and it was gaymazing!
