But finding well written non erotic titles in this sub genre is not easy. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind reading some fluffy erotic earthling kidnap story once in a while, but often its all sex and no story. Just like I sometimes want fluffy historicals and other times more deeper and more researched ones, I want to read SF romance with world building and plot.
And I hit the jackpot with this title. It has many of my catnips. :). I prefer the kind of SFR where Earth is either still there, or like earthlings having had to leave or such things. Like colonization of other planets. I guess I just prefer some connection still with humans.
Several things worked for me in Contact. Heroine is not of the wimpy kind, she is capable. She is a commercial airline pilot and shows humanity and willingness to look beyond the surface. Hero is also a wonderful character. Hard life, so seems cold and and closed off.
I loved the world building and the images it created in my mind. There are many other characters that are just as vivid as the main ones creating a full experience.
I enjoyed the heck out of this one and I am sure I will have a let down now with not finding many more like this. And yes, romance readers want world building and plot and story and characters and emotions. I want it all and thank you to this author for creating all that in a Science Fiction Romance. :)
First of this author I read and now I will go through her back list. (less)

I am really OCD when it comes to reading stuff in order and by order I mean chronological. I just don't like to go back when a story is already ahead. But every review insisted this has to be read after the first in this series so I did. Reluctantly. :)
First the actual romance here was just a tad to sugary sweet for me. Compared to Daemon and Katy in the first book, Dawson and Bethany were just a bit to cutesy.
It was good to finally get to meet them though after the snippets of talk in the 1st. It was also nice to get to know the other Lux better and what makes them tick.
This story of course also explains a bit better why Daemon is the way he is in Obsidian, but he isn't completely off the hook for being a douche.
What I liked best though was getting a tad more info on the Feds and how they are dealing with the Lux. I think there was more info on that here than in Obsidian, so that was good.
Overall it was ok, a bit short and sugary, but important for the info.

First off, it was a total page turner. I just couldn't stop reading. I liked the story line and anything sci fi-ish I am on it like a kitty on catnip. I am also intrigued at what else is going to happen going further so I will definitely continue to read the series. I am not usually a big fan of young adult stuff, but this plot interested me. The characters are lively, sometimes too lively. But holy crap what a douche Daemon is. And Katy unfortunately showed many signs of having TSTL tendencies. On one hand she has her head on pretty good so that is why it was so frustrating to me that she would continue to give him chance after chance when he always goes right back to being a douche. He was still a douche at the end and I finally saw some of that backbone that I knew Katy had. Oh to be 17 again. Or not. :). I don't think I was ever this emo that age. Omg the drama lama. Yet, I couldn't stop turning the pages. So there is that.
Off to find the next in the series. Finding sci-fi romance, or sci-fi with strong romantic elements at least is really difficult, so on that front, this book delivered. Bit tired of the furry and fanged I guess. (less)
