I think I like this book as much as The Fault in our Stars (although, that might not be fair to say since this one is so fresh in my mind and I read the other one a few months ago). But this one is definitely one of my favorite John Green books! I think what made this book so special was how relatable I found the characters. It felt like a story that any person that ever went to high school could relate too.
I'd also add that I really love John Green's books in audio format. The narrators always do a fantastic job. (less)

I thought it seemed a little slower then the first two, especially at the beginning. I feel like Sozanne Collins stayed true to the characters, the ending of this was really everything I wanted it to be.

To be honest, I wasn't very excited about reading this. I heard so many good things that I just felt like the hype could never live up but oh man did it ever! The audiobook was excellent, really amazing. I highly recommend that format. The main characters were relateable and likeable. And the story was so unique. I just really can't say enough good things about this book!(less)

I actually have loved everything this author has written. I think that this book is definitely not for everyone and I could see it getting a lot of mixed reviews but I thought it was fantastic. I just fell in love with the characters and the storyline. The little touches she put in like adding details about Thomas Jefferson's soul really added to the book. I just couldn't put this book down!

I was really intimidated by this book going in. Firstly, I don't really read fantasy. Well, I guess, I don't normally read "hard core" type fantasy. By that I mean that I've read and loved Harry Potter and Twilight and the Sookie books but nothing really like this. Also, I don't normally like big books. I'm a fairly slow reader and I read this slowly as well. I think I read at least 4-6 hours each Friday, Sat, and Sunday night into the wee morning with this one. I think that is why I'm going to settle on 5 stars though, because any book that gets me to read this much in a weekend when I have 10 + hours of DVRed shows to watch must be good!
So anyway, the book was wonderful. I was so completely captivated by the story and I think that is saying something because much of this book was what I think will be the foundation for the rest of the series. I cannot wait to see how it all ties together! (less)

The first word that comes to mind when I think of this book is charming. I completely recommend listening to this on audiobook, I think the different narrators really added to the letter style of the book and the narration was wonderful!
I knew from the beginning that I liked this book but as the book went on and it became amazing. I loved the setting of post WW2, I loved how all the characters felt so real and human. I loved how funny this book was in places. I loved the Juliet and how much she loved books. I especially love the book / fiance related story in the beginning.

I loved the build up of events, I loved the ending! I had a couple of ideas about where the book was going but I didn't see most of that coming! Wow!

Rachel is such a powerful main character and I felt like she was so well written. I don't really have anything negative to say about the book. The only reason I'm not giving this five stars is that for some reason probably not the fault of the acutal book, I found this for the most part to be a slow read. I'm not sure if it is because of the natural breaks in the story as Rachel ages or if it was the Hawaiian words that added a lot of depth and feel to the story but often distracted me because I had no idea how to pronounce them.
Regardless, this was an excellent book and I highly recommend it!
Edit - I have reviewers remorse. It has been a year since I read this book and I still really love it. I wish I would have given it 5 stars (what was I thinking!) so I'm going to change it!(less)

I thoguht it was true to the characters and the story all while having them grow and mature. I didn't want to reread Twilight - I wanted an ending and that's what I got! The writer does such a good job of writing that I really felt Bella's pain. My heart broke at the ending but was then happy in another way. I thought this one ended much better than New Moon. I could almost see how this book could end the series.
I can't wait until August when the final book comes out!(less)

True, it isn't the same as GWTW but I loved all the background on Rhett. I thought the way Rhett's story and things we know from GWTW were woven together was really neat. Seeing Scarlett and some of the other characters in a different light was very interesting.
I also thought this sequel was better than Scarlett. Though I did enjoy both.
I think I would have given this 5 stars except for the ending. I loved all of the story up until where GWTW leaves off and I think this book handled the after parts better than Scarlett but I still don't know that it could compete with the way I had imagined the story to end. I don't think the ending was bad, it just wasn't how I had always imagined it would be.(less)

I wish we had a little more information about what happens to some secondary characters like Luna. I also thought some of the stuff in the middle of book was a little slow but that also could have been because I was really tired by that point. Overall, I thought it was a great way to end the series.(less)
