I'm hoping there will be more books--continuing the journey.
It would be great for tweens who want to read up, I would guess, as well as teens. No bad language or sex. Some of the scenes are a little intense, though, with how the newest cadets are treated. Might be an interesting springboard for discussion.

Kate deals with that feeling every day of her life because her sister Edwina is breathtaking. Kate, at 21, is resigned to being the spinster sister and eventually the spinster aunt. When the two women come out on the same year, Edwina has all the suitors... including Viscount Anthony Bridgerton.
Anthony is determined to marry but to never fall in love, which is why he feels Edwina will be perfect. She's beautiful, refined, and he feels absolutely no spark when he looks at her. But first he has to win her stubborn sister's favor, as Edwina has vowed that she will only marry a man of whom Kate approves.
I loved this book! Julia Quinn weaves a wonderful comedy of manners with a depth of emotion. Beautiful!(less)

Leo started out as a very sympathetic character in the series, but a sympathetic character who was in a downward spiral. I loved watching him grow as the series progressed, and by the end of Married by Morning, I felt that he would make an excellent husband. He will take care of Catherine the rest of his life, and she will stand up to him beautifully.(less)

It felt fresh and fun, I really liked both characters and the story was very compelling. The book is set in Australia which made it interesting. The author really grabbed me from the beginning--not an easy task. I kept sneaking time to finish the book, which is always a sign of a great read.(less)

Logan and Grace were well drawn characters with rich lives. Logan is smart and athletic, a genuinely nice man, but he's leery of love because his mother abandoned him and his twin brother when they were young. Of course he doesn't trust women - he was betrayed by the one woman who was supposed to love him no matter what!
Grace is a brainy scientist who has been sheltered in academia her whole life. She has a genius IQ, and yet she's very naive. At heart, Grace is a sweet woman who craves connections. She didn't know what she was missing until she got a job at Logan's luxury resort in the Caribbean so that she could collect samples for her experiments during her time off work.
I loved watching Logan and Grace find each other and realize that they had found the missing piece of their lives. Stayed up late to finish this one!(less)

I'm a huge YA fan, but not all that into paranormal. So I was hesitant. Still, Maureen promised I would be hooked and I was.
Sophie, a 16 year old witch, is sent to a special school after casting one too many spells that go awry. There she finds out there are other witches (and fairies and shapeshifters) who have also broken the rules.
The book has all the wonderful angst of growing up--the issues of trying to fit in, the cute crush, the awkwardness of making friends, along with the trauma of coming to terms with who we really are.
There is a hint of darkness with the paranormal element, but nothing too grisly. On the "should my daughter read this" scale--there is one kiss, an overheard discussion about whether or not to "give up the V" done with a very light touch, and a teen dies. The death is quiet but on the page. No drinking, no drugs.
I've already ordered the second book in the series for my Kindle. (less)

In the beginning, I thought it would be mostly about Frank's growth, but just as Frank was learning the lesson he needed to learn, we found out that Jenny had some secret conflicts of her own to overcome.
