This book was rather dull and boring compared to the first book. The pace of things was good, but everything felt kind of repetitive. The first book really creeped me out with all the zombies and weird beings. It was new and inventive. Book two was different to book one and had me hooked from the first page. Book three was a carbon copy of book two, which was really disappointing. And book four...well, the whole schola thing and someone always gunning for Dru was kind of "so what else is new" by now.
In book one we really didn't know who the bad guy was, and that made it all that much more exciting to read. I've missed the "not knowing" in the past three books.
I can already guess that in book five Anna is going to redeem herself and back up/help Dru in some way, and together they will run the show. End of.
I'm still giving this book a 4/5 star review simply because even if it's a little bit repetitive, I still love this series. I would have gone up one star though if Ms Saintcrow brought back the zombies and other creatures.(less)

I kinda miss the zombies and other creatures of the first book. It's what made it so creepy.
Christophe is back, Graves has gone missing, and we all knew Anna was the bad guy. That was kind of a given in the previous book. Now we just got the proof.
The book is well written, but all the Polish pet names keep taking me out of the story, and there's just too many of them. The misspelling keeps bugging me.(less)

What I like about the series, is that the next book picks up exactly where the previous book left off. Reading these, it's like seeing one, long movie in your head. Speaking of movies, these should be movies or a TV series. They're just different enough to stand out in the crowd. Why Hollywood hasn't noticed these books and picked them up yet, I do not know.
I don't think we'll find out who's really chasing Dru and wanting her dead until the very end of the series. Ms Saintcrow wraps up some threads in each book, but the main thread, the red line through the books, she's keeping a somewhat secret. By now we know who the good guys and the bad guys are. Mostly. But we don't have any definite answers, and I don't think we'll get them until we reach the end of the final book.
What has me giggling most of the time, is the usage of Polish words and phrases. Some of these are mis-spelled and mis-phrased, but I get the gist of it. It just sounds so weird and unexpected in these books, I can't help with the giggles.
What I like about Dru, is that she's a scared chick, pretending to be a tough chick. She gets bumped and bruised, and she hurts all over. And she gets going. It's the only thing she can do to survive. She's falling in love with two boys, but doesn't really want to. One is her best friend, and one is her hero. I have no idea who she's going to chose, and I can't make my mind up about who to root for either. Maybe she should just have two boyfriends....
Strange Angels is a win. The most original vamp books I've read in a while. You get attached to the characters, and you feel their pains and their joys. If anyone reading this is a supernatural fan, or vamp fan, or shapeshifter fan - read these books!(less)

I almost want to stop there, it's hard to gather your thoughts and write about a book that has so much happening all the time. The author has a new take on demons, vamps, zombies and any other supernatural thing you can think of.
The book kind of reminds me of the TV show Supernatural, with hunters and scary things and a world most "normal" people never get to see cause they just don't want to see it.
If you get scared by things that go bump in the night, read this book during the day. Cause Ms Saintcrow has an uncanny ability to write scary scenes.(less)
