Not sure what I think of the menage with brothers (I think there was mention of them being from the same litter), and reading of a couple/trio having sex while a young child is in the next room always throws me off the sexy train. Otherwise, this was a hot paranormal. The story was pretty interesting and moved well. Small town feel was nice and the side characters were fun. (less)

Spoilers:
Heroine barely meets guy and she's having sex with him - because he's hot and the pheromones he's giving off makes her into a nympho (and vice versa). So, okay, this is an erotic novel - I can go with that. But then after she finds out about shifters and how she'll need a harem because she'll be highly sexed feline shifter, she has no problem jumping another guy even though she starts out by stating that was unacceptable to her. Must remember this is an erotic novel.
She seems to lose her human foibles quite quickly. Talking mind to mind? No problem. Just bit and drank blood from another being. Yuck, but no problem. There are other issues she considers for a moment and then shrugs off without a though.
Some other problems I had with the book: the 2 guys she's having a menage with are brothers; mentions of licking of lower body parts like a cat are not what I call sexy; and, then there's questionable consensual cat sex (also something I don't find sexy or care to read about).
Thank god this was a short read, but I can't believe I paid Ellora's Cave pricing for it.(less)

This story can be read as a standalone but I'd recommend reading book 1 (Mate Set) first to get background on the various characters that are involved. I read this book before book 1, and the "villian" of this story came out of left field for me - which wouldn't have seem so random if I'd read book 1.(less)

The heroine was likable, and the hero was protective of the heroine while respecting her need for freedom and relying on her expertise and experience. The outcome of who the serial killer was a surprise to me, and the hero and heroine's path of uncovering what's really happening in the bayou was an interesting side story.(less)

I did enjoy reading about an alternate Austin, Texas with a Shiftertown, but I just didn't feel the chemistry between the hero and heroine (maybe hero not acting alpha enough for me?) or that "wow, what happens next?" feeling a really good book invokes.
Also, I'm confused a bit by the end. Why let the captives die naturally? Why hide them and wait for them to die? Why not kill them while they were down?(less)
