Lots of developments with the subplots and secondary characters make me itch to read the next installments! There was that customary Gena Showalter-heat that made her 'love-scenes' in this book ones to remember and it's taken a few days for me to start a new book without having 'Gideon Speak' cloud my progression! LOL! You'll like it, if not, Love it. Guaranteed.(less)

Enjoyed the chemistry between the characters, the comraderie between the jaded, and the extremely satisfying plot. One of my favorites books of 2011 and I am officially a Renee Bernard super fan! Can't wait to explore this series and other/future works by this author. A more detailed review coming to Not Another Romance Blog soon! (less)

I wasn't too head over ears for her towards the middle, but as I progressed through the book, and I saw her character flesh out and saw her insecurity and vulnerability, she grew on me! She's one of my fav's!! And Serious Simon was also a character that took me a while to love, but once I did, it was for forever!
Whether reading to complete the series or just stand-alone, you'll enjoy and want MORE! (I am laying claim right now to Benedick! That big ole' sweetie-pie!! Would have liked to have seen more of him in this book with more of a supporting role-there was some potential for him to be more significant to the plot which I know SM would have written beautifully-, but I will just have to settle for reading his book ...when it comes out...if it comes out.. Oh please Mz MacLean, give Benny some lovin!)
You'll gorge yourself on these St.John's I tell ya! And these Hartwell's, and these Townsend's, and these Rivington's, and a select few Pearson's!!(less)

Gillian, the daughter of Ellis of Westerbrook, and her brother Clifton, are being hunted down after their father committed suicide to save the identity of the second assailant in their attack on the King and to take away the King's satisfaction in doing the deed himself. The King now wants his vengeance.
King John send one of his noblemen,Gareth, the lord of Sommerfield, to track down the offspring and dispose of them. He tracks down the daughter, Gillian, off the coast of Cornwall, but his ship is destroyed in a storm and he is washed ashore terribly injured and without his memory.
Gillian finds Gareth and nurses him back to health as he slowly regains his memory. Gareth grows fond of Gillian while under her care and repays the favor by taking her from the small, ramshackle cottage where she was lying low, to the grandeur of his castle to better protect her.
Shortly after their arrival to Sommerfield, Gareth remembers that his son is in the King's 'care' until he succeeds in his task of taking out the Westerbrook offspring. HE is the one who poses the greatest risk to Gillian, but he can not allow anything to happen to her or his son. Drastic measures must be taken & the treat of discovery is barley kept at bay as Gillian and Gareth discover true love.
This book was very fast paced in the beginning but slowed a bit towards the middle, and by the time you got to the climax at the end, it felt rushed. But overall, I enjoyed this book, and chapter by chapter I feel a little bit more in love with the hero and heroine! Gillian was kind and good natured while being able to hold her own against the macho man. And Gareth was honorable,head-strong and crazy about the heroine, which is exactly what we want in our heros.(less)

I get that it's a book about falling in love over twitter, but the hopeless romantic in me wanted to know what happens after the last RT, ya know? The book really is 70% in tweet, and while all the tweets are clever and funny, I found myself wanting more action to go along with the wonderful conversation.
The majority-twitter format wasn't completely sold to me either, and i know if any other author did it I would have been royally pissed, but TM did a great job with this book and i know that I'll be on her next contemporary (if she decides to make more) like white on bread. I anticipated this book HEAVAILY, and got lots of great things out of it (that twist at the end really throws readers for a loop and I felt my inside react to the plot keenly), but maybe I held TOO much anticipation and expected to see flying monkeys or pigs flying or something different from what was there. Whatever way you look at it, this book is special, entertaining, and a must read for any reader.(less)
