I think the author is a great storyteller, and I was captivated by the Spanish Civil War and World War II background. I must say it is difficult to weave a story between so many characters and not come out a little sporadic in coverage. The book jumped quite quickly at times. I would have loved to have a character or two from Japan. (less)

This young adult dystopian book, is full of action, mystery, and questions about life. The main character, Todd, is a 13 year old boy...and of course I just loved the dog. Of course the ending is a cliffhangar...so I better get the next one.(less)

I guess I just expected to read more chaotic thoughts and feel more rage from a character so obviously suppressed. Overall it lacked the appropriate sentiment in certain situations, but it is a good book with plenty of merit to it's orginal concept and somewhat x-men feel to the developing cast. I probably will read the second one, but more in the hopes that I can see more impassioned characters with honest opinions and motives.(less)

The going back and forth between 2 voices was not interesting. The book was a bit slow in the beginning and rushed at the end.(less)

The author does a great job creating a new world in Silos, and slowly shows the reader what is happening in this new world. I would reccommend getting the omnibus because you wont want to stop between 'books.' (less)

Stephen King wanted to write "the longest popular novel in history"...it definitely is an epic series. I have to say she writes so clearly, I could feel the fear, cold, dispair as well as the excitement on her journey. I guess what din't work for me was... I never could understand why she was so self-destructive (drugs, marriage failure, infidelity etc.) or how she was able to get her act together again.(less)

A good read for those who want to know more about the hippie commune movement of the 70s. The timeline moves from 1970 to 2018...and I'm not sure why the author was so taken with epidemics. I was disappointed the author didn't go into how Bit adjusted to normal life. (less)
