Wawzaa! That was one heck of a book!
After much persuasion when the fae king has agreed to help Jolie in her task, the book picks up from there.
Jolie is more powerful after blood swaping from Sinjin, though she doesn't bring back any dead people in this book.
Rand is still resentful to bond but why is that we find out later.
Jolie's relationship with Rand was just about to happen than BAM no bonding clause. *head desk*
Jolie, heartbroken as she is she still wants to fight even though Rand is very much against it. So Jolie takes up help from the only one who is willing, Sinjin. Which involved her drinking his blood. It scars me because I am pretty sure after swapping blood this many times it should represent something significant but who knows! I guess we have to wait till the third book! Or maybe their world doesn't quite work like that ;)
But the fact that Jolie has feelings for both Rand and Sinjin is clear. The war is in it's full swing and then another one. BAM. Back to the future people!
I loved reading this book, specially the snarky comments. Toli and Troubles is a short read. Quite funny and romantic of course heap amount of fluffs and steamy smexing! (less)

His father was cruel to him his brothers but what ended his human life was in fact his brothers. He was never popular nor did he had a friend amongst the many dark hunters, just like his half brother Zarek, who is now a demigod living in Olympus married to the justice nymph. Valerius has always been alone and he thought he would always be, until he met Tabitha.
Tabitha – a Goth girl who has taken an oath to kill Daimens and she didn’t take that oath lightly. She dressed herself in pure gothic attire as she slays vampires. Her family is a hoot, most of them have been mentioned in other books. Amanda, Tabitha’s twin married to an ex-dark hunter Kyrian. Most of the Devereaux family is involved with supernatural world. Tabitha’s kind of guy would be an emo dude most likely or so she thought until Valerius Magnus came along.
This book deals with a return of the old villain who is after Amanda and Kyrian’s daughter. To save her New Orleans becomes populated with more dark hunters but being a DH they can’t fight together as it juices out ones powers. While saving their life they lose some really good friends, which completely tore through my heart. Major angsty past from Valerius, as expected. Agrippina’s death was painful and he never truly recovered from it.
Nick of lawd! Don’t get me started with the boy. I love him I do but sometimes he can be a real ass.
Artemis was more civil in this book. And I have a feeling Apollymi and Acheron might be related. Just Sayin.
Overall a good book. If it wasn’t for everyone becoming immortals it would have been my favorite book on the series so far. (less)

I routed for teams and found myself connected to Justine on many levels.
Let's start why I found Justine so appealing, she was ogling every man meat she came across. Not complaining, I do too. lol.
Justine leads a double life with her stoked up fear. And it's a relief for her when she finds herself without it but everything has a IF at the end of a bargain so does her new found freedom from dilutions. Along the way she finds herself attracted to the boss along with a few others. And to be honest I was routing for the boss the entire book, even though she had a boyfriend most of the book.
Packared and Otto both very powerful man and both attracts Justine. No wonder girl was very confused till the very end. And frankly I am secretly hoping she ends up with the boss in the next book. *shifty eyes*
Overall a good book. There are mention of some smexing, mystery and little bit of sup world, I highly recommend it.(less)

This is not like the last book at all. There is more power hungry people going around. Secrets are getting revealed. People are not what they seem. I think Shelby will get dark by the next book, driven by revenge. Justine..... I hope there is a way to change or cure i don't know what but something that might rescue her from the current state she was left behind in this book.
And now about Team Cucumber...... I sympathetic with him when he came out with the story to Justine, now when I am finally finish with the 2nd book I don't even know how much of truth was in there.
Team Kabob, it's not hard to hate him and then love him at the same time because the hole story is being told from Justine's point of view. I'll leave it at that.
Great story, I just hate the cliffy. And I guess it's only because of the cliffy I'll be waiting for the third book like a hawk. (less)

Okay. Well, I did have hard time getting into this story in the beginning but after I started getting into it, it wasn't half bad as i thought it would. Actually the story was pretty good. But too much descriptive on mythical creature and what was that Shisa-du
Mac, urgh... seriously annoying. Not really surprising though, i had been through-fully warned not to get my hopes up about her. She sets out to find the murderer of her sister and finds herself in another world entirely. Fay, Sheer, unseelie, vampires almost all type of mythical creatures exists. Being the stubborn as she is, she stays in Dublin ignoring all the warning and threats. There were some parts she was even strangle worthy. I am hoping I can change my mind about her.
Is it Barrons or Barrens? I am still confused. He is a hard character to define, because at the end of this book I was thinking I would know what HE is but no explanation on what spices he is yet. He saves Mac, he knows about stuff, he knows people, he has a thing worked out with shades, he jumps off of roof.. it's a bird, it's a airplane no it's Jericho Barrons I guess it'll be revealed in other books.
I am intrigued with fae prince V'lane. I have 100% doubt on his honesty. But but but he sounds... idk what to call it either.
I wouldn't absolutely call it adult genre but not YA either. It's for a bit olderlings. (less)

This book starts off right after a week of Darkfever. Mac is convincingly more mature. I think I hated her less in here. But overall verdict on Mac, I would say she grows a lot in this book, she is even a little darker and she is aware of it. The dark side of her is hiding but it feels as if it's waiting for the right kind of pus to be let out of it's shell. There are still three books left, I have a feeling we are just seeing the start of a dark Mac. I am really curious to find out how *IF* she even turns to the dark side.
Barrons *I think it's supposed to be Barrons not Barrens. What's up with the first part's spelling thing I don't know =/* is still an unknown species. He is definitely not sidhe-seers or Fae, but we still don't know what he is either. Some of the parts of Barrons did, I was a bit uncomfortable with. But I think I got past that throughout the novel. Barrons is ALPHA male, there is nothing tender about him. He doesn't even mind chaining Mac. Dude, if it was for BDSM or kinky role-play I don't think I would have minded. But that's just too much protectiveness. JS. Even though you know what you did you know you shouldn't have done. Lol. I think I can channel my inner Mac too. V'lane. Someone stab him in the nuts! That's what I felt at first anyway. But I guess he is 'trying' to figure out why Mac keeps on refusing him and he turns off the fae magic for tiny few seconds.
Ending - New alliances and characters are introduced. Mac is still trapped in Dublin *i don't think she is getting away either but one can always see the silver lining* we are closer to finding Sinsar Dubh. (less)

that is me after finishing this book. I would love to start from the begining to tell everyone how the book went, but my mind is too boggled with the ending to say something else.
Let's try this again, after finishing Bloodfever Faefever takes up from there, Mac on the ground writhing from the pain.
Mac is learning more and more about fae world, but sadly it's V'lane who is giving her all the information. I still don't trust him, can you blame me?!?
Barrons, really did you have to throw that pink cake up the ceiling? It was a perfectly good cake you know, it sounded really delicious. *sigh*
Mac tries her best to get her mind in control, even if that does mean giving Barrons every answer he wanted. I am just surprised he didn't ask her if she wanted to have sex with him. I repeat what I said in my review for Bloodfever, if this was a BDSM book, Barrons would be the perfect example for a DOM.
In this book I felt like, Mac and Barrons seems to be on a friendlier acquaintance. Which I loved!
The ending had me baffled, there is no way to sugarcoat this. Mac was raped. That is it. No matter how it happened, how she felt. It was rape.
See after this book, I should say I give up, but I cannot. Now more than ever I want to know what happens next. I am not wondering if there is a HEA anymore. I just want to know what happens. (less)
I have hormones under control because I STARED Shadowfever LAST NIGHT AFTER THAT GOD DAMN WTF AGAIN.
*deep calming breathe*
As usual Miss Moning started off this book where she left the last one, Faefever. Mac had no coherent sense of what was happening to her with the unseelie princes. They were sent to RAPE her by LM aka Lord Master. And of course he refused that he was the fourth one that raped her. Now the question remains who was the fourth *if there was a fourth* But I do hope Shadowfever clears up some question for me couse no way in earth does this man sound sane to me, why on earth does he keep saying he had feelings for Alina?!? *sigh*
Living a pri-ya Mac, Barrons is the one left to bring her back from that state. 'The method' to bring her back might seem o_O *yeah I don't have a word for that either* I kept saying aloud 'what? Why? Barrons, No!! She is gonna hate you.' for the first five minutes, and THEN Barrons opened his mouth. Me = melts. After Mac is back and she described how the room looked, to what length Barrons went to bring her back... me= melts.
Ryodan, aka IYCGM is seem to have a bigger part in this book. His statements about Mac is a bit unsettling and it lead me to think she might be a fae... you never know with KMM's book. Always expect the unexpected. Ryodan also seem to be fascinated by Dani, even though she is 13. *blinks* I can't say something here till Dani and Ryodan have an ACTUAL encounter. Who knows maybe when she grows up!!! But I am so fecking glad she was okay after this book, I couldn't have handled her turning into pri-ya.
Lot of smexing between Mac and Barrons *yes you saw it right* People went missing V'lane, you are one confusing dude Dani is the shit. That. Is. All *personal note: Dani would make a kickass leading lady if KMM by any chance decides to write something about her* Someone is dead.

As usual Morning never does what readers expects. Did I see this coming? No. I did not. After devouring the first four books, I had hunches what might happen. But of course that didn't.
One of the reasons I loved this book is because Mac and Barrons FINALLY seem to 'talk' about their relationship other than being aggressive.
Of course most of the questions I had from the beginning was answered. Except what the heck is Barrons. I don't think I am ever going to find out what he is or whatever it is that happened to him and his men.
See, from the very beginning of fever series their is doubt about who killed Alina. In Shadowfever, that is also revealed. Just a heads up, I didn't see that coming. Who would have thought this person would lead Alina to her death! *sigh

Bestie had read this quite a while ago and she wouldn't stop badgering me till I read it too! I am so glad she did! *though it was tough on her when I told her in which pages I was, she just wanted to spoil RAWR!*
This was slightly different book then what I usually read! Which, warlock, werewolf and vamps! Naked men, getting to see naked EIGHT packs and then again being naked after transforming!! What more does one ask for in a good book? ;)
Jolie Wilkins is a card reader living in LA with her bestie when she is hired to do something that changes her entire life.
Rand is a sexy warlock with eight packs who also happens to become Jolie's employer! He is a bit withdrawing about his feelings towards Jolie at the beginning but then again there are so many obstacles!
On the other hand there is Sinjin, a vamp packs unknown, he didn't take off his shirt GRRR who let his intention known quite bluntly.
There is a scary supernatural word and many of these scary creatures want Jolie and her powers, no matter what. She is tought to improve her powers and also defend herself... which sometimes didn't came so helpful =/
All supernatural powers are uniting and it's not for the cost of greater good. Jolie, Rand and Sinjin are the few who are resisting these unity and trying to protect the ones who wants to stay neutral. While Demons, some werewolf which and vamps are in her side Jolie has a few followers of herself but sadly they need more power to stand a chance against them. That's when the fairy step in but convincing them aren't a easy job!
Overall a good and fun read!Recommended to readers who loves reading about sexy warlocks and vampires!(less)

You know when you have been reading a book and also following the tv series that's based on this, you are wasted on the story line from the very beginning. Well, I guess that's me when it comes to the Southern Vampire Mysteries.
I'll stick with series till the end *I know, I know I am a complete sap* After the last book 'Dead In The Family' I had actually given up on the series but Charlaine Harris was able to restore my faith on these books again.
While Sookie was very darker ans emoestic in the last book, she was back to her own self in this one but a little bit matured. I know completely shocking.
This book had some major revelations on Sookie's love life (with Eric Northman duh!). Sookie finally realizes her TRUE feelings for Eric. YAYYY!
Eric and Pam's relation on maker and child takes up some bumps on the roads and I have my fingers crossed that it doesn't get worse and they are able to sort out their differences.
Even though Eric's maker is dead (thank you Sookie) he still hasn't left Eric in peace. Yes, it comes back to haunt both Eric and Sookie, which I have a feeling the next book will be about.
Sam, I always had mixture of feelings towards this man, and by the time I was finished reading chapter two I was pretty much o.O by his incest suggestions for Sookie. WTF!
Other than the 'interesting' use of words by Miss Harris, this book was quite good.
Cover art: None of The Southern Vampire Mysteries book covers never make sense to me!

H.P. Mallory is becoming one of my favorite author through her writing. After finishing her both books of Jolie Wilkins series, I am still eager to get the third one in my hand however I am a greedy person so I grabbed the next best thing, To Kill a Warlock. This series is a lot like the Jolie Wilkins series's paranormal world. Dulcie O'Neil is a fairy regulator who is working undercover with a Loki to find the criminals who brought back a creature from the other world.
Dulcie (I am not sure how it's pronounced though) is a fairy and part-time novel writer. Hot hunky men finds her very attractive and she finds a way to only have them as the fantasy hero of her books or sometimes her dreams.
The book doesn't have any cliff-hangers at the end, which it A+ for me. Dulcie returns in the second book A Tale of Two Goblins. And yes I am getting started on that as soon as I finish this review :')(less)

I am not so keen on the idea of fairy and all. But in case of H.P. Mallory's fairies I make an exception and I am glad that I did. Dulcie O'Niel is definitely one badass fairy. I am surprised at just how much I loved reading this book.
In the second series of Dulcie O'Niel, Dulcie has to find the person who is putting everyone she cares about to sleep. She is next and the key to not to let her mind wonder off is to not sleep.
Dulcie does some stuff she wouldn't in her right mind will do. Brings out more reckless side of her, and lets face it when there are lives are at stake, you will do almost anything to save them. Dulcie also realizes her feeling towards are Knight is extremely strong which ended the book in a bright mood.
Overall a really good book. If you are a fan of urban fantasy and Henry Cavill, this is a MUST read.

When I saw Missie was hosting a Some Girls Bite read-along with Tina, Rummanah and Jenny I though I have the book, I haven't had a chance to do a read-along before so lets do this!
It was awesome. Reading four chapters a week and making turtle friends along the way, but I think most of the bloggers had already finished it. I am going off track with my thoughts about the read-along here.
So about the book, I liked the entire situation with Merit's vampiredom and how she grows to accept her situation. Under a month time Merit went from grad student to super sentinel, I don't think I would have come out of my hidie hole before a month past.
Ethan, Merit's master and the head of Cadogan house is a bit of a jerk in the entire book. And I am told to be patient, apparently he isn't always so much of a jerk as the series continues. I would like him a little less jerky too. Mallory, Merit's best friend got it on with a fellow sorcerer. I am sort of those readers that love slow built up love. Mallory and Catcher was more like lust-in-first-sight than love. They are both GREAT characters individually and had a lot of potential to bloom in to a great relation that I would have liked but I just didn't feel the love there. Now let me finish my character evaluation with one last character, Jeff. He is the ONLY were we meet in this book, he is twenty one and a lanky computer geek. I am thinking about grabbing him and then running towards the mountains. I even have a pair of handcuffs somewhere in the house to have him cuffed to the headboards. Too much! I think not.
At the end, I honestly don't think I would have liked this book if I was reading this on my own. Because of the read-along mainly, I loved reading this. I plan to continue the series soon.
Recommended to ... umhh ... readers like me who had second thoughts about picking up the book. Just wait for a read-along or something when you start! Review originally posted on The Nerd In Heels(less)

After a lot of probing and poking I finally caved and picked up the book. My first thought. I LOVED IT. Study series isn't your average romance novel and I had hard time deciding if it's young adult or adult genre. Then I decided it's better not putting it under either of those label. It's a good adventure and a bit romance novel and that works for me.
I love Yelena's character and how she fights to survives when there is no hope. She hadn't grown up in a loving environment and after heating puberty it wasn't a good experience for her being one of General Brazel's lab rat. After being brought out from Commander's dungeons for killing Brazel's son she is offered either death or be the the official food taster for the Commander of Ixia. Yelena's will to live makes her accept the offer. Yelena is in no way out of danger as she enters the life of the being food taster for Commander.
Valek, is .. I don't know how to describe it. But I didn't expect him to be a love interest for Yelena that's for sure. Mainly because of the age difference but who cares. Valek is AWESOME! He used to be an assassin and now the chief of guard for Commander Ambrose. He is ruthless killer, skillful tracker, takes out four men with his fighting skills. There has been no men or women that defeated him in a fight to become him second-in-command. So when someone so powerful like Valek confesses his love for Yelena. I am floored, weeping with joy fist-pumping in air while screaming' I KNEW IT I KNEW IT'.
Somethings that confuses me in this book is that you can't guess which century it's based on. So I stick to a very alternate universe and time where some technology is available while they still live in the Renascence.

After reading something as good as Poison Study my expectation for this series was YAY high, but unfortunately my expectation for the sequel was actually too high. Magic Study mainly focused on Yelena's magical ability and training her while figuring out who is out to kill the young magicians in Sitia.
Magic Study introduced allot of new character and I felt like they kept appearing to fill the void of the other character from Poison Study. Yelena seem to find her entire family and they all live in the trees and jump from one branch to the other like Tarzan. Yelena's brother has some deep problems with her returning. He even seem to believe his sister is the spy from Ixia. Yelena's parents were very interesting, specially her mother. I was reminded of Disney's Tarzan far too many times while reading about Yelena's family.
If you have read Poison Study you already know Valek, the master spy, lethal killer, chief of security for commandeer Ambrose, he can assassin with his pinkie and also happens to be in love with Yelena. I missed this amazing character in this book. The only time he appears is when he is sneaking in Yelena's guarded room to have sex! I mean yeah sure they are together it fine and dandy but where the heck did that lethal killer go? Valek was purely a mental support for Yelena without being there physically in this book. I missed their sparing very much.
Overall I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. I say if you read Poison Study stick to that no need to read this one and have the image ruined. I am going to continue this series anyway, I am still interested to know how this will play out in the end and I have no expectation from the third book so I know I won't be disappointed even if it is total failure.

But I still wish I hadn't though. This book follows some times after Magic Study. Revealing more about the magical ability of Yelena and her quest to find more about her powers of a Soulfinder.
This book didn't introduce as many characters as it did in Magic Study but still I missed my two favorite soldiers Janco and Ari, there can never be too much of these awesome duo. Yelena travels back to north so we get to see a lot of old characters return from Poison Study. Yelena is wanted by the council of Sitia and her magic is not safe to even safe herself. Valek plays an important part in Yelena's quest but still I missed the Valek I had seen in Poison Study.
Overall better than Magic Study, doesn't live up to the expectation of Poison Study though. (less)
