She doesn't want people to do what she wants them do. It's just that her emotions are tied to her singing, and it affects those around her whether she wants it to or not.
Christine Amsden has written another wonderful addition to the Cassie Scot ParaNormal Detective series. This time, we have a story told from Madison's point of view. As some of you know, Madison's life hasn't been hunky-dory. It's gone up and down, and all around. The poor woman has had to deal with so many disappointments that she's no longer sure of what is the truth and what is not.
This standalone novel gives us a little more insight into Madison's life and past, as well as to what makes her tick. We also get an in-depth look into her relationship with Scott. Who wouldn't want a gorgeous werewolf by their side? Granted, such things always come with unexpected results, but it's a chance Madison is willing to take.
In this book, Christine also tells us more about the lore she's created surrounding the werewolves. We get to know who there are, how some of them became what they are now, as well as know more about Scott's past, too. The fact that Madison is caught in the crossfire adds intrigue to the plights they find themselves in.
Madison also has to deal with the chaos surrounding her own family. She has to step up to the plate and right all wrongs, something she's loathe to do. Though things are difficult, she knows that if she tries her best, she'll be able to do what she needs to do when the time comes. I love this about her. She might be afraid and insecure, at times, but she's willing to do whatever is necessary to complete the task at hand.
I honestly enjoy this wonderful series. Each book brings us closer to the Scots, their friends, and the beautiful world Christine has created with her beloved characters. Whether they're in trouble, in love, or just trying to exist, we get to see each step her characters take in doing what they have to when the time comes. I so can't wait to see what Christine has in store for us next with this diverse and quite delightful series....more

That's a thought that constantly runs through Sara's mind. In a world dictated by your skin, hair, and eye color, she knows that she can never reveal who and what she is. To do so means she'd risk death, something she'd never do.
Christine Murphy has introduced us to a world where who we are and what you do in life is dictated by the color of your hair, skin, and eye color. In this world, the company, BioGen, is determined in creating the perfect being. Mind you, they already have, but they were afraid of the powers these perfect creatures exhibited. Because of this, they were forced to do away with what they'd created.
The author has taken such a touchy subject in real life and presented it in such a way that it truly makes you think about the consequences of toying with humanity. What would happen if we were to actually do what BioGen does in her book? Would humanity remain as it is now? Or would it change completely when the time came?
As it is now, we do deal with issues of cloning. Granted, it's only been done on animals, thus far, but who's to say it hasn't been done on humans? We just don't know about it, right?
I found The Hybrid to be quite intriguing. It not only deals with the issue of toying with someone's DNA to create something better, but it also deals with topics such as abuse and the ability to love. What gives someone the right to prevent another from loving someone else? Who should determine who and what we become later on in life?
The company, BioGen, sort of reminds me of Resident Evil's, Umbrella Corporation. Whereas Umbrella strives to create the perfect bio-weapon, BioGen strives to create the best being and life possible. Both companies hope to achieve an end to their own means. Granted, things fishtail out of control in doing so.
A truly engrossing story, The Hybrid delves deeper in the mysteries surrounding BioGen. It presents us with Sara's plight and what she does in order to stay alive. I enjoyed this unique read and definitely plan on catching up on book one since I started this series out of turn. The Hybrid is like a standalone novel, however, and gives you just enough information so that you don't get confused as to what's happened since book one. ...more

You have to do things a certain way, or risk angering those around you. It's even harder when you're a part of a pack where order must always be maintained. If something goes awry, you risk banishment or death, something Lilliana soon learns well when her talisman is stolen.
Alexia Purdy has shown time and again that she can write just about any genre. From the paranormal to romance and fantasy, she's given us stories we can definitely relate to. Ardent is no exception.
Diving into a world surrounding two rival wolf packs, we're given a taste of the lore she's begun to create around her beloved characters. Two rival packs vie for the right to control the world around them. While that might seem attainable, it's not. Most especially when tensions continue to rise between both packs as time goes by.
When Lilliana's talisman is stolen, she suffers the misfortune of being banished from her pack. For most who are sent away, this often means death. For Lilliana, however, it means that she'll survive, no matter the cost. The fact that Ephrem comes along to give her the helping hand she so clearly needs isn't lost on her. Yet she knows that what she feels for him is forbidden.
The book's fast-paced action keeps the reader's interest as they delve further into the mystery surrounding the missing talismans. It also makes us want to know more about each character and what fully drives them. I hope we get to see more of Ephrem and Lilliana soon enough. Maybe they'll get their happy ending someday. Looking forward to more of what's to come for this delightful series....more

What if you couldn't put those skills to use because you're afraid of upsetting your family? You can't seem to let go of the fact this innate ability exists within you, however. No matter what happens, you're determined in doing away with every demon you see.
Ruairidh deals with the above each and every day. He's also dealing with school, his brother, and a girl who stirs his senses at every turn. It's not easy being who he is. Nor is it easy keeping the fact that he's still hunting demons from getting out. If his mother were to ever know, she'd have his head for sure.
A wonderful start to what promises to be a great series, H. G. has given us a very diverse story. It kicks off with Ruairidh dealing with his father's demise, as well as having to move back home. Things between him and his family aren't fine and dandy. His family life is hectic, something the author shows us at every turn.
Ruairidh is young man who's tormented by his father's death. He's also conflicted about what he has to do. He also has to take into account that he's living a double life. The boy wants nothing more to do away with the demons that took his beloved father from him. Despite the odds against him, however, he does his best his to come out on top.
I love the way H. G. has crafted the difficult relationship between Ruairidh and his brother, Angus. The two do not see eye to eye. Most especially when it comes to the lovely Islay. Though things between them aren't hunky-dory, the two are still willing to be there for one another when needed. Sure, things later on take a different turn between them, but that's the beauty of having someone you go could to when things go south. No matter what happens, Ruairidh knows he can count on Angus.
H. G. has created a quite believable world where the characters find themselves in situations that sometimes seem hard to overcome. We get to see their strengths and vulnerabilities as they deal with their everyday lives. Ruairidh has shown time and again that he will do whatever is necessary to keep those he loves safe. He's also not afraid to take matters into his own hands.
I can't wait to see what H. G. brings us next with book two of the Reaper Born Trilogy. Will Ruairidh be able to get out of his current predicament, I wonder?...more

Mind you, I started this series with this book, but it's made me go back and start it from the beginning. Can't wait to catch up!
The book is part of a series, but it also acts as a standalone, since you don't get lost in the minor details. Lisa provides enough details to catch you up on what's going on with Chad and Amy in case you haven't started reading from book one.
The fast-paced nonstop action is awesome. I enjoyed the camaraderie between Gia and Chad. The two are caught up in such a profound web of deceit that it's hard to know which way is up or down. I love the fact that they play on each others weaknesses, too. Yeah, the two are like oil and water, sometimes, but they mesh so well that you want them to be together by the time the book ends.
I honestly wonder how things will end up for everyone and can't wait to read the next chapter in the series soon enough. Hopefully, they'll all get their happy endings and the villains will get what's coming to them soon enough.
I truly recommend this series if you haven't had a chance to read it. Trust me, you're going to want to....more

I loved the camaraderie between the characters, most especially the explosive moments caused by Micke himself. When I first opened up the book, I thought it would be something much closer to full-blown erotica. Boy, was I wrong!
Though the story does take place in present time, the introduction of the troll gives it that fantasy element that piques the readers interest the further along they get in the story. I also enjoyed Kai’s interactions with the group itself. He might be a greenhorn, but he does know what he’s doing.
While this is a short read, it packs quite a punch. Tanith has done a beautiful job in taking the lore surrounding trolls and presenting it in such a way that that you honestly want to know more about them. Each character is nicely developed, too. I hope we get to see more of the characters and the world she’s created....more

This is a leThe life of a shifter is never easy, much less when you possess the powers of a Seer. Seeing the past, present, and future is never easy. This is a lesson Sarai Bouchard learns well. Though she's perfected her gift from an early age, she still has difficulty coming to terms with what she sees.
Her saving grace comes in the form of Zac Montclair, though she's loathe to admit it. Nor will she admit just how much he affects her. Despite the fact that she sees his future happen time and again, Sarai knows that she'll have to do everything possible if she's to save him from what fate has in store for him. The question is, just how far is she willing to go to make sure that what she sees doesn't take place.
Though I began this series from book two, I've gotta say that I was hooked from the moment I began reading. So much so, that I'd get irritated every time I had to put the book down. That's how interesting and engrossing the story is.
Abigail's smooth storytelling draws you in to the point that you honestly have to know what happens next. Full of nonstop action, delightful camaraderie between characters, and never-ending twists and turns, Sarai's Fortune is a story that will make you want to keep reading once the story ends.
I definitely can't wait to see what the author has in store next for the Shadowcat Nation series. Will we also get to see Corrie's story told some day, I wonder? I certainly hope so....more

From the moment you begin reading, Giselle's plight draws you in. She's alone and scared with a secret she can never divulge to anyone. Or so she thinks.
In her mind, she believes that she's a freak of nature. That there's no one else like her out there. Until she meets the members of what promises to be her new family and home. It's then that her life changes.
I enjoyed Giselle's naivete. She may appear to be strong and self-sufficient, but underneath it all, she's vulnerable. It's that vulnerability that comes through whatever she intends to do. Despite the fact that she's been dealt so many hardships, she does her best to make do with what she's got. Good or bad, she'll deal with it.
The fact that she lands smack-dab in the middle of a feud between two different packs makes her question a lot of things. Her being able to assert herself through it all speaks volumes. She's not afraid to delve into things if the need calls for it. Granted, doing so tends to get her into trouble more times than she can count.
The lore Katie has set up for this book makes you want to know more. It sets up so many angles for various storylines. Full of fast-paced action and intrigue, Pretty Little Werewolf is a story that captures your attention and then some. The reader will definitely feel for Giselle and what she continuously goes through. By the end of the book, they'll be fully immersed in the world Katie has created. I enjoyed this story very much....more

Unsure of how much she can take, Melanie does her best to continue with the world around. Deep inside, she nurses a deep uncertainty about what's going on with Jason. To make matters worse, she also has to contend with unexpected circumstances that further upend her world. Part of her knows she should let things go. That she shouldn't delve into what she doesn't understand. When it comes to fighting for your life, however, a person will do anything, and she will do whatever is necessary to do exactly what's right.
A riveting, yet bittersweet story, Melanie's Evanescent Journey pulls you in from the very beginning. The action is nonstop, and we learn quite a bit about each character as we go long. I liked the fact that B. showed just how vulnerable Melanie can be. Though it might seem like some people might walk all over her, she bounces back to show that she is also headstrong.
This is the start of a truly delightful series. I admit there were quite a few twists I never saw coming, but I think that's what makes the story so good. I honestly can't wait to see what B. has coming next for these characters. Keep it coming!...more

Sadly, they're from two different spectrums. Despite that fact, both do want to make things work between them. That's what make this book so wonderful to read.
