He's been given the chance to play for the Boston Braves, and he's determined to give things his best shot. Baseball fills he's every moment, and he won't have things any other way. In his mind, he's got it made despite the fact that he encounters new challenges every step of the way.
While I've come into this series via this third book, I must say that Welcome To The Show was a delightful read. Frank has taken elements of the past and blended them in such a way that it piques the reader's interest from start to finish. Granted, he takes liberties with certain historical details, but that's what makes the story so good.
Frank gives us a glimpse of what it's like to live life as this autistic pitcher back in the 50s. The ups and downs, the uncertainties, and the hopes and dreams, we see it all and then some. It's truly eyeopening to see how different things were back then versus how they are now. The world has come a long way since then, though some things haven't changed as much.
We find ourselves immersed in Mickey's life as he heads to Boston. This is a character who gives his all to everything he does and it shows with every turn of the page. Full of thought-provoking moments, this book makes you want to know more about the world Frank has created around Mickey and the rest of the characters. You can't help but feel everything they do—the happiness, disappointments, anger, you name it. A truly inspiring read, I definitely recommend this series....more

Slow to start, the story offers you a view into the intertwined lives of Mayor Boggs, Thomas, Talitha Johnson, Skilleas, and several others. The chaos that surrounds them never ends, allowing them to join forces against those who seek to do them harm.
There's danger afoot in Indianapolis, and it's up this uncanny group of characters to come to each others aid. Things continue down their slippery slope, forcing the mayor to take matters into his own hands. It's then he realizes he can't do things on his own.
Miriam has given this book a little of a superhero edge. Each character serves a purpose, allowing the reader to delve deeper into the character's lives and the circumstances that bring each of them to where they are now. They're forced to take their actions into account before acting on what they believe is right or wrong.
Overall, The Double Life Of Tutweiler Buckhead is an intriguing read. The author gives us a crime story full of paranormal elements. Who wouldn't want to fight crime utilizing magic and gadgets, all while having the world at your fingertips?...more

Though he does his best to understand what is lurking deep within his psyche, his mind often refuses to make sense of what he sees. Determined to get to the bottom of things, he dives head-first into the secrets of his past, never once realizing that he's tied to the Titanic in more ways than one.
A delightful, yet thrilling read, Michael J. Bowler delivers a story that leaves the reader immersed in the book from start to finish. Utilizing the events surrounding the sinking of the Titanic, he's given history a supernatural edge. Though this is fiction, it's lovely to see history written in a way not many have thought to write it.
The character, Jamie, must take matters into his own hands. If he's to save himself, he must also save the Titanic. The question is, should he? Often, when we're plagued by such questions and situations, we have to take everything we do into account. Sometimes, however, it's best to leave things alone.
I like the fact that Michael has done all he can to retain historical accuracy. Yes, most of what surrounds his character is fiction, but it's still based on the past. He's created a suspenseful and romantic story that entices the reader to turn the next page. Definitely recommend it....more

II confess that when I first received this book, I thought it would be a fictional account of Emily Dickinson's life. Mind you, that wasn't the case. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this is a biography based on Emily's letters and poetry to various people along the way.
Via these letters and poems, Jerome introduces the reader to a different side of Emily. We see her vulnerabilities, uncertainties, and desires come through with every turn of the page. Growing up, I always thought of Emily as a lonely spinster who never surrounded herself with that many people. Reading through these letters, poems, and various accounts from the people Emily once knew, I was able to see to that what I previously thought of her was not the case.
Jerome shows us a woman who knew exactly what she was doing back in the day. A woman, though quiet, at times, who was not afraid of speaking her mind. She was not afraid of being who she was with her family and the world around her. Granted, she kept to herself, more often than not, but she did so in a way that prevented others from exploiting her privacy.
A Loaded Gun definitely captures the reader's interest and keeps it with every turn of the page. We're able to glean more of the woman Emily Dickinson became. Emily was never afraid of experimenting with the world around her. She gave as good as she got. A thought-provoking read, this is a book I recommend for those who'd love to get more insight on all things Emily....more

One she'll do anything to protect. When her life takes an unexpected turn, she soon realizes that not everything is as it seems. To make matters worse, she has no choice but to trust the one man her heart tells her not to--the notorious Matthew Blair. Little does she know, appearances can always be deceiving.
Christine has done it again! Writing another standalone novel that takes place in the same world that surrounds her Cassie Scot series, she pulls the reader in from the moment he/she flips that first page. In this novel, we learn more about Kaitlin's plight and the secrets that surround her. I love the fact that Christine has wound Kaitlin's story around the events that previously took place within the lives of the town's residents, as well as Cassie herself.
While this novel delves deeper into the background that surrounds Kaitlin and Jason, we also get to learn a little more about several others characters along the way. I'm so not spoiling that for you, by the way. If you want to know what I'm talking about, you'll need to read the book. And you're going to want to, trust me. If you've read the previous books taking place in this wonderful universe, Kaitlin's Tale will definitely pique your interest.
I honestly love this world Christine has created. I do wonder if she'll give us more to read about Kaitlin and Matthew, as well as Scott and Madison. It would be awesome to know what they're up to in the future, as well as what happens next with Alexander. Who knows? Maybe we'll have more stories to read someday soon. Thank you for an awesome read, Christine!...more

Though sheDespite her recent heartache, Arianna's mission hasn't changed. She'll continue to do everything possible to ensure her mother's survival. Though she has gained a little traction in the dominion that is Hell, she still has a lot to learn. The princes--some of them, anyway--resent her for what she represents, and are not quite ready to give her the benefit of a doubt. In their eyes, she presents a bit of a conundrum. One that will change their entire worlds as they know them.
Karpov Kinrade have written a wonderful sequel to the Vampire Girl. We get to learn more of Arianna's plight, as well as what happens to the princes because of her current actions. Though quite a few twists and turns are thrown into the mix, they do not detract from the beautiful storytelling this writing duo has put together. They've branched out the worlds belonging to each prince, telling a story that sucks the reader in and leaves him/her wanting more.
I love the fact that Karpov Kinrade aren't afraid of pulling punches. They've taken the lore surrounding Lucifer and Hell, bending it in such a way that you truly can't help to wonder what happens next to these characters. Though Arianna and the others are pulled into different directions, they aren't afraid of fighting for what they believe in. Can't wait to see what happens next for each of these characters....more

Sadly, her mind refuses to give her the luxury of remembering what she doesn't know. Though pieces of her life come at her in small snippets, there's a lot she doesn't know. Deep inside, she wishes she could make sense of what she sees. It would make everything she's been dealing with so much easier.
Demand takes up where Denial left off. Here, we see Ella struggling to make sense of her current predicament. She's grateful of the fact that Kayden's by her side, doing his best to help her remember. His chaotic life, however, clashes with her own.
Lisa has given the reader more fuel for thought. We get to learn more about the circumstances surrounding Ella's plight. We also get to see more of her vulnerability. Granted, she tries to keep a tight rein on it, but there are moments when her emotions get in the way.
Branching out more of the world she's created around these characters, Lisa has shown us just how Ella's story ties into her Inside Out series. If you haven't started reading that series yet--or started, but didn't finish--you're going to want to catch up. It's delightful to see so many threads from books in that series come together in this one.
While Ella is still in danger, she's definitely making progress. I so can't wait to see what Lisa has in store for her, Kayden, and the others once it's time for her to release book three of this series....more

To make matters worse, she now has to contend with a man intent on protecting her every move. While that does appeal to her, it also makes her afraid. She has no idea who this man is, or why he came to her rescue in the first place. Still, he's the only one she can trust for the time being. At least until she regains her memory.
I love Lisa's stories, and Denial is no exception. If you've read her Inside Out series, then you're already familiar with who Ella is. In this series, however, we get to explore the reasons behind Ella's disappearance. We get to find out what's happened to her and how she overcomes the adversities popping up along the way.
This is a wonderful and refreshing series. Not only do the characters get new problems to contend with, but we're also given some closure to events that take place throughout the Inside Out series. It's nice to see Lisa tie up those lose threads. Granted, we're now left with several new threads that eventually must be answered and closed. Will Ella be able to find a bit of closure to the chaos that surrounds her, I wonder? Definitely looking forward to what book 2 has in store for us soon. ...more

In her mind, she yearns for something more, something that will bring meaning to the bleak existence that surrounds her. When her life takes an unexpected turn, she's not sure what to make of it, or where to go from that moment on. To make matters worse, she now has to contend with the Princes of Hell. They've bestowed a difficult task upon her, one she's not sure she'll be able to complete, though she's hell-bent on trying.
Karpov Kinrade have given their readers another wonderful series to contend with. While a good many may balk at the fact that this story surrounds all things related to Hell, what they don't realize is that this is a story. It's nature is not meant to be taken literally. A story is just a story.
I honestly enjoyed the craziness this writing duo has put together. This story is one where you get glimpses of the world Karpov Kinrade have put together. A world they'll continue building with every story they have yet to tell. The story's version of Hell is quite different from what we've been told it is like. According to the Bible, it's all fire and brimstone. It's a place where souls suffer for all eternity. With the Princes of Hell series, you don't see that. You see a world where anything is possible regardless of where you're coming from.
Enjoy this story for what it is, a beautifully written tale about a girl who must do everything to overcome the obstacles that pop up every step of the way. Vampire Girl immerses you in Arianna's plight, and we get to see her grow throughout everything she does. She strengthens her resolve and does what is necessary to survive.
This is a story about sacrifice, about a girl who must choose to do what's right, or suffer the consequences. What would you do if you found yourself in such an unexpected situation? Would you fight for what you believe in, or would you turn tail and run? Looking forward to what comes next for Arianna and the rest of these delightful characters....more

She's put up with the loss of her mother, her father's constant indifference, as well as a slew of other torments along the way. Her recent loss, however, is one she'll feel many times over. Still, she can't fault Nightfall for what's happened. The nephilim saved her life, after all, but that doesn't make things any easier for her now that she knows the truth.
Continuing where Night of Nyx left off--of sorts--we learn a little more about Corrine and her dysfunctional family. The princess's life hasn't been an easy one, but she's made do with the family she's been saddled with. This is a constant theme throughout the book, not only for Corrine, but also for Nightfall and the friends she's made along the way.
Karpov Kinrade have shown us that despite the difficulties these characters experience, they're determined in sticking together, no matter what. We learn a little more about Corrine's past, as well as what made Kai who and what he was. Added into the mix is the fact that we get to see Nightfall, Zorin, and the rest of her team grow a little more each day. Granted, the chaos that surrounds them is still there, but each and every one of them is determined in setting all wrongs to right somehow.
I do wonder as to what will happen next for Nightfall and the rest of them. Will they be able to make Varian see the error of his ways before it's too late? Looking forward to what this wonderful writing duo has in store for us next....more

UnfortunatelSean Rivers hates the fact that he harbors a power unlike any other. He can manipulate the earth, and use its resources to his advantage. Unfortunately, his power has done him more harm than good, since it caused his sister's unfortunate demise. His vow to never use his power ever again is soon shattered when he meets the beautiful Asia. She incites both his protective instincts and baser desires, prompting him to make unexpected decisions at every turn.
Another awesome addition to the Seven Forbidden Arts series, Geomancist takes us on a fast-paced ride that leaves us wanting more of Sean, Asia, and the rest of the forbidden arts team. Charmaine has filled this book with so much explosive action that you immerse yourself in the world she continues to weave around these wonderful characters.
In addition to meeting Sean and Asia, we're treated to glimpses of the pasts that bind each of the team's characters. It's a delight to see Lann, Joss, and the others build a camaraderie with these new characters. Granted, not everything is copacetic between all of them, but that's the best thing about getting to know a character. You're treated to those small snippets within their lives that make them all unique.
Charmaine has a created a unique, though turbulent, world that pulls the reader in from the moment we begin reading the book. We're shown what it's like for these characters to live with their forbidden arts, as well as what it's like for them to learn things as they go. Though there are two more forbidden arts that have yet to be unveiled, I've a feeling that they won't be the end for this wonderful world. Who knows? Perhaps we'll be treated to other character creations that live within this world the author is creating every step of the way. Definitely looking forward to what's coming next for this series....more
