Holy crap on a cracker Batman. This book! Just when I thought Ms Armentrout couldn't get any better she comes out with this gem. My heart is still racing just thinking about it!
I'm sure everyone knows by now that I am a mahoosive fan of this woman's books. I will read anything she writes and I have been dying to read this one. When I got an ARC in the post from the publisher I was so excited! I couldn't wait to get stuck in. And boy did I get stuck in. I finished the entire book in a day! I just could not put it down. It was so addictive and I just had to keep reading because I just had to know what the flipping heck was going on! The main reason I adored this book is that I did not see that ending coming. Normally I can figure out the big twist early on, which always annoys me cause it takes the whole suspense out of the book. But not this time. One minute I'm sure it's this person, the next I'm like " No it was them". Only to have all my theories completely blown out of the water. Ms Armentrout throws so many different possibilties into the mix that you're left almost pulling your hair out trying to figure it all out. I felt just as frustrated as Sam, not knowing a thing. We are just as clueless as her. So bravo to Jen for keeping the mystery going until the very end. I really did not see that coming.
As with all of Ms Armentrout's books, there is a healthy dose of romance thrown into the mix. This time in the form of Carson Ortiz. Ah Carson. He is such a sweetheart. I really did love him. The author just has a nack for writing swoon-worthy guys. There is plenty of other great secondary characters too. Including Sam's twin brother Scott. He is like the best brother ever, he was so protective of Sam. It was amazing to see that even after Sam was a bitch to everyone before she lost her memory, there were still people there who loved her and stood by her. Sam really was a "Mean Girl" before the incident. And the people she hung around with were just as bad, if not worse. Veronica and Candy, ugh, I wanted to strangle them. And Del the Dick, Sam's boyfriend. The name was so appropriate because the guy really was a dick. I really hated him.
I don't want to say anything about the story-line because I'm terrified of giving away spoilers. But I cannot praise this book enough. Full of nail-bitting suspense, hair-raising twists and turns, and an intense romance, this is one book not to be missed. I really hope Ms Armentrout writes more books in this genre, she is a natural when it comes to creating a great mystery.
*Thank you so much to Hodder for sending me an ARC copy.*(less)

Oh glorious gargoyles everywhere! This book was everything I thought it would be and then some! JLA has created another gem of a book and I fell head over heels in love from the very first page.
I have been dying to read this book and the main reason for that is...gargoyles. I have always had a love for gargoyles, ever since I got addicted to that kids TV show Gargoyles many years ago. I have never read a book about gargoyles before and WHK was like the answer to my prayers. And the fact that it was being written by my favourite author was the icing on the cake. I knew that I would love this book no matter what and oh boy did I love it!
White Hot Kiss follows the story of Layla as she struggles with her half demon side and all that comes with it. I loved Layla. She was such a strong character and was so loyal to the Wardens, even when most of them treated her like garbage. She tried so hard to fit in, to be normal. I felt so bad for what she was dealing with, especially in regards to the whole no-kissing thing. She has had a crush on her protector and best friend Zayne since forever but a relationship between them was just physically impossible. I liked the friendship between the two but I never rooted for Zayne as a love interest. Enter Roth. Oh holy hotness. Roth was just all kinds of yummy. Cocky, hilarious and covered in the most awesome tattoos ever. I swooned so hard. The chemistry between him and Layla was electric and they shared some really hot scenes. Team Roth all the way! One of the things I was worried about when starting the book was the presence of a love triangle but thankfully it wasn't as big of a problem as I was fearing. Probably due to the fact that Layla can't kiss Zayne. And I feel like their relationship is better as a brother-sister type than a romantic type. I just really hope that the love triangle isn't more pronounced in the next book. I want Layla and Roth together so Zayne butt out!
Along with being romance heavy there is also plenty of suspense and action. The fight scenes were very well written. There were also a lot of twist and turns to keep you hooked, never knowing where the story was gonna go. I finished the book in no time because I just could not put it down. Never for one second did the story get boring, it was all just go go go. As well as that I loved the history behind the Wardens and the demons that we are given, it was fascinating.
Overall I just loved loved loved this book. JLA's awesomeness shines through, with a smoking-hot romance and heart-pounding action. But that ending killed me! Woman you can't do that to me! I can't wait until November for book 2 :( I need it now!!
