This is easily one of the coolest books I have read this year! a circus filled with mystical beings, a alt reality where griffins and monitors exists! Im inlove and Im hooked!
The Menagerie has everything I wanted, it was dark and intense, set on the back drop of a travelling circus!!
Miss Vincent did a wonderful job of spinning a tale of woe, excitement and magic. I really hope there is more!...more
Concentr8 was not at all what I was expecting. I don't think I really read the blurb, so I went into this a bit blind. Essentially London's government gConcentr8 was not at all what I was expecting. I don't think I really read the blurb, so I went into this a bit blind. Essentially London's government gave out a cheaper version of Ritalin to the majority of its school kids, then took it away. Mass hysteria and the plot line of this book ensue.
I found this book to be pretty boring, I mean yes there is a kidnapping, there riots, drugs, drinking, theft and yet its all...boring.
None of the characters are likable not even in the " they are so bad I like them way" they are just boring, and I didn't care about their plight at all.
I feel like this was a sensationalist idea, that was down played to try and make it feel real and gritty, but it failed. Sutcliffe should have just gone for sensationalism.
Something could have been there, but it just didn't work for me...more
I don't usually read a whole lot of time travel books, the genre never really pulled me in, space travel yes,"The roof tops getting a little crowded"

Rewinder's story sits in a little pocket of history, ( one I'm sure would be more important to me if I was American but alas I am not), allowing two time lines to exist, ours and Brattles fictional one.
It was a relatively quick read for me, and I did enjoy it. It's fast passed which left little time to get bored. But honestly I think I was only really able to enjoy because A) I am not a history buff and B) being Australian I was never taught american history, I know the basics but pass a test I would not.
There are quite a few plot holes...rather large ones, and the characters felt really undeveloped. I didn't get Iys and Dennys connection at all, felt like an after thought to be honest.
Overall I did enjoy it, but if you where looking for a more thought out time travel book, this is probably not the book for you. If you just want a bit of fun, and don't really want to use your brain, then this is the book for.
It will probably get made into a movie, I can easily see that happening.
I really enjoyed Like Candy, and I was excited to get this approved on Netgalley!

Its probably my fault that I had such high expectations, Sweet Liar is a nice wrap up the story, and I loved all the secrets being revealed. Nothing was really forgotten about and so many questions were answered. I just felt like the book dragged on a bit, I guess because of the ending in the first book I was ready for all action all go.
none the less, I still really enjoyed it, and thought it was a good ending to the story
I have never read anything by Debra Doxer so I had no idea of what to expect from Like Candy. I have to stay I was presently surprised.
From the blurbI have never read anything by Debra Doxer so I had no idea of what to expect from Like Candy. I have to stay I was presently surprised.
From the blurb I thought I was going to be getting some trained high school assassin story line, what I got was something much more in depth, and honestly much better.
I loved the characters in Like Candy, they felt real, and the pranks where a gold mine.
But truth be told its the romance and mystery that sold me on this one. First I didn’t see any of the plot twists coming, I really didn’t, and I loved that. The romance between Candy and Jonah was written so well, there was no insta- love..in fact I don’t think the word love was used once between the two of them. It was a refreshing way to see the romance play out. Insta attraction is fine, love not so much.
all in all I really enjoyed this book, and I cant wait for the next one to see how it all ends up
