After that I was hooked.
False Pretense was a very moving short story, the character was real and believable. The story takes place in Laguna Beach, California, where two girls decide to go to the club on a Saturday night. But when a creep or offender on the dance floor, with his paws all over someone else starts undressing her from a distance, she feels uncomfortable and tells her girlfriend Liv that she is going home.Liv tells her it is too dangerous to walk alone to her car, a 10 minute walk from the club. But she says she has her car keys in her hands for protection. But she had been a victim in the past, and has a 5 inch scar on her neck as a reminder. After that she carried a pocketknife in her purse, after her attack.. The man in the Club reminded her of her attacker "Grant", that had given her the look over.As she walked to the car she caught a whiff of his scent...he was following her.But she didn't run. When he got close enough he said to her "You wanted me back there."
She knew what it was like to be a victim...and she knew what she had to do.
I loved it.I wished it had been a full novel.Looking forward to reading her new book next "Hide & Seek".This is an amazing author who is so talented. One of my favourite authors. Thanks so much Jenny. (less)

I normally don't read too many short stories, but this short story was very witty and entertaining.
Marietta Becker was working undercover at a singles dance, to investigate the homicide of five men. Of all assignments to get...she would never go to a singles dance because she was married. But somewhere in this room was the murderer-all victims of a serial killer, "The Crusher". The entrance card for the single dances, had been found in the wallets of two of the five crusher victims, two other victims were on the list and the fifth victim was married.
Her husband,George, and her had work schedules that were never compatible. They were like ships in the wind.
And then feeling like a piece of meat at the meat market, at this singles dance, with all the men staring at your assets or lack of...it happened...the unthinkable...her husband walked in. She was then told that George was a regular. This explained why he always worked late on singles night.
She had to get out of there fast, so not to blow her cover. She made a dash for it. The Crusher would take care of him.

The Perfect Game" takes a look at what could happen when real life and reality tv cross the line. Written by John Hansen, this book shows the dark side of human nature. It is a very well written book that shows a creative side to Mr. Hansen that most people might not want to admit exists in most people. Definitely a Horror book, the reader is on the edge of their seat with a surprise twist at the end. This is a must read for all readers - no matter what their tastes may be - they won't be sorry for the experience of reading it.
I am so glad I read this in the daytime and not late at night...or I probably wouldn't have slept.(less)

I downloaded the Kindle version free through Smashwords. This was such a Short short story.I no sooner starter the book, and it was over.I was gripped by the description, and was not expecting the story to down this path. In the beginning it felt like a nervous meeting between two people who didn't know each other very well but had agreed to meet. It sure caught me off guard.I was expecting a love story between two ships in the night. I won't give the ending away.
I would have rated it higher if the book had developed into more of a story. So much was left in the air...and maybe for good reason... to pick up in the future.I got just a taste of the author's writing style, and I liked it.Looking forward to reading more. (less)

What a wonderful choice of words. I Have never read a story written as a poem.I was quickly drawn into the story. It has so much to offer for your thoughts. It makes you think about what is important in your life, whether it be family, career or something else. And how important that it is. What would you do given the choices this man made. Most of us would not have made the choice he did to be cured from a fatal illness or from whatever it is that is eating away at us. It was a wonderful read and I feel everyone should give it a try.
Life is too short and sometimes it takes something so simple and honest to make us realize what is important in life.(less)

These are three short stories each with their own merit. They represent some creative writing combinations, weaving elements of fantasy, crime and humour. I really enjoyed reading them. It shows the imagination of this author as well as her diverse writing skills. I am not going to give a recap of the stories...you just have to take the time to read them for yourself. A nice refreshing change!(less)
