Again, I have not an inkling why so many people rate books that are horrible so high. This book at the most is a 3 and nothing more. The things I hateAgain, I have not an inkling why so many people rate books that are horrible so high. This book at the most is a 3 and nothing more. The things I hate about this book:
1. My main problem is the there isn’t a clue to why the infection is creating these so called abominations. Is this some kind of alien invasion or is there really an infection? O and about to the very end of the book, you realize that some of these alien creatures have the ability to communicate (the speak some kind of language). I have no idea what really has happened in this book and what the actual plot was suppose to be.
Example: a. Screamers: Humans that fall down screaming from the infection, then wake up to kill other, eat small children and they smell like sour milk. b. Giant worm creatures: They eat the screamers and anything else it can get its hands on. c. Jumpers: These things are shaped like monkeys with strings on their privates or stringer on the tail (I am confused about this part)? I mean from the description you don’t really know, also the jumpers lay eggs with the stinger. They are parasite creatures that need a host to reproduce. d. Mutant Elephants: Not a lot of information was giving on this creature, other than it was large and could lift great amounts of mass. e. Large Dinosaur Creature: This creature also eats the infected humans (the Screamers); it has a long neck, long tongue and also has alien features. f. Demon: Horned Creature that attacks the Bradley. g. Bemoth: Another large creature. Other creature (has to be large): This creature tried to push over the Bradley and left major damage to the vehicle. You never really know if it was the mutant elephants or another product of the infection because the author doesn’t do a good job being clear. 2. The relationship between Sgt and Wendy!!! It feels unreal and totally acquired, plus Wendy doesn’t really act like a women, she acts more like a shell of a women. Then in 2 weeks they are so called in love! Really? How can you fell in love running from whatever these creatures are? 3. The flashbacks are confusing sometimes and you have to re read some areas to get any understand of who the author is talking about. 4. The characters personalities and decisions are not logical and point blank just stupid. I was thinking that there just can’t be that many stupid characters in one book; however the author made sure that there was a lot of idiots. 5. The writing style is just plain weird, horrible and vague. 6. The only character that had promise disappears before they get to the FEMA aka Defiance camp.
The things I like about this book:
Ann Yes, that is the only thing; she is a bad ass and has wits about herself. She knows that the government is lying about the condition of the infection. Nothing is jaded with her!!! What you see is what you get!!! I don’t think I will be reading the next book in this series and to be honest, I don’t know if I can give this author another chance to waste my hard earned book money. I am kind of sad that so many people praise horrible writers.

I am so sorry, I just could not like this story as much as I tried; this zombie story fall flat!!! Why are there so many good reviews on this book? I mean here is the main reason:
1. The characters know that a bite, blood, fluid or scratch would get them infected-but no one thinks to put on leather, extra layers or anything to protect their skin!!! So, they were basically saying- "Look at me zombie; I am a walking fried chicken leg."
2. Sherman doesn’t make good decision, but yet the author has you under the impression that he is a wise guy. Well, he isn’t too smart walking into a silent town; knowing damn well that the outbreak has been spreading at a rapid pace for the last week.
3. The characters language, mostly Brewster is so annoying that I had to stop reading several times to relax my jaw muscle from clenching so hard. This guy is super annoying and should have got killed off soon. He put a lot of people in danger with his stupid ass suggestions to Sherman. And for Sherman to even consider this loser advice is beyond me.
4. The author kills off character that are likable and that you want to live to fight another day.
5. Why keep making body shoots? When all you have to do is make one good head shot!!!
6. The over use of the military terms and military language is a major turn off. Just think about it, if an outbreak really happened; the 1st place to go would be the areas most crowded and therefore the authors logic of the military lasting as long as it has in this book in illogical.
Therefore, this book in one of the waste books I have ever read:-( ...more

She has almost what we call a split personality and the author’s writing wasn’t clear enough so it takes awhile for you to figure it out. Along with the split personality, you have her want to be mother Roxanna and her want to be father Karien; both of these characters weren’t developed enough for you to “like” them. And then there is Dejrr, he was a lost puppy in love and a total fool for Aurora/Tarana and I felt completely sorry for him the entire story!!! The plot was ok, but nothing new and the world was under developed.
Now, the whole story was basically a journey from Aurora/Tarana’s home town to the Wizard’s Army stronghold. Along the way you find out that she is suppose to be the one and only wizard left on earth and who basically is to lead the Wizard’s Army to the victory over the Citizen’s Army. However, the way the war is taking place is very weird or I should say convenient. And everyone knows war should never be convenient. And that is really the meat of things, I however will probably never read another piece of work from this author; to me…this story could have been so much better if only more time had be spent developing character with real emotions. ...more

First off, this story started with a plot and seems to have great promise. But as the story progressed, you can see that the author couldn't execute what the story was about. What I mean is this whole story was about a necroform, but when you get the definition of it; you are left thinking…..this author must have been smoking some serious sh#@! to come up with this rubbish. And to be honest, the author could have made this story awesome; because you have an old village, the death of the main characters mother and the disappearance of another character. With all these elements the story could have been a great ghost story. But atlas, we were left with rubbish:-(...more

And, I so hate to write bad reviews, but this book was pure rubbish and should have never been published in the first place. Needless to say, it is not the author’s fault that I am inclined to finish a book when I start it; will be my down fall. But this book made my head hurt and literally had me wanting to pull my hair out. Ok, so the book started off really odd; this girl name Chalista was dead. But, she can see thru her eyelids. Then the next thing you know the she is small (a school aged child) and her parents kind of leave her to fend for herself on the 1st day of school. Next thing you know, she tells the story of her family inheriting a house and a person named Quinn. Really weird, right? Next thing you know she want to play pretend "Bluffy the Vampire Slayer" with Quinn, but before they start to play; she must get her daddy's stake (yep and real wooden stake) from beside his bed. She accidentally kills Quinn (he burst into dust looking particles), well so she thought until she runs home to find him standing in the door behind her weirdo mom (who only comes out at night). Come to find out her mom is a terrestrial vampire and the dust particles from Quinn are the particles from this exterrestrial vampire time plot. What the hell is all that? I mean that is what I was f#%@* and I just became so confused. I could not find in this book the origin of the time plot and the real difference of the 2 types of vampires. O and let's not forget the space/mind sex....WTH!!! I was as confused-Did I already say that? I just couldn’t follow the author’s train of thought and keep having to stop to see if I had missed something. She probably should have written a book about aliens and then one about vampires. Because the whole story made no sense and I can't even tell you what the plot is. So, this book is beyond my comprehension and if it was in my hands now; I would burn it!!! ...more
