OnceThere’s something to be said for a book that regardless of how many times you read it, you walk away excited and ready to read it all over again. Once is never enough, a hundred times would never be enough and for me DARKFEVER is one of those books. The first book in the extremely addictive Fever series, it’s well named because it does exactly that – spark a fever in the reader that is insatiable as the story delves into a darker side of Dublin that’s filled with monsters even our nightmares would shriek and hide from. A city where not everything is as it seems and you can’t always trust your eyes. This is a story that instantly grabs you and pulls you in, engaging you fully as you experience every emotion and situation along with the characters – the good, the bad and the dangerous.
DARKFEVER tells the story of MacKayla Lane, a twenty two year girl whose perfect life was thrown into chaos the day her beloved sister, Alina was murdered. Up until that moment Mac led a charmed life that consisted of sunbathing, listening to her iPod and coordinating her outfits to match the different shades of pink nail polish she owned. Fueled by anger and a frantic cryptic phone message from Alina just hours before her death, Mac goes against her parent’s wishes and flies to Dublin, Ireland determined to find her sister’s killer and bring him to justice. Once there however, her life is once again turned upside down with the discovery that her sister kept secrets and as Mac begins to hunt down the answers, nothing prepares her for the horror that she finds. Forced into a working relationship with the mysteriously powerful and sexy Jericho Barrons, Mac learns she is a sidhe seer – someone who can see past the glamour created by the Fae. Much to Jericho’s delight, she can also detect objects of power which makes Mac extremely valuable tool which he puts straight to work. Mac finds herself meeting all kinds of creatures, placed in all kinds of dangerous situations and every choice she makes takes her further away from who she used to be. Unable to turn away, Mac finally has to face the horrifying truth – war was coming and she was standing right on the frontline.
One of the things I liked the most about how DARKFEVER was written was it all came from Mac’s point of view which put me right in contact with her thoughts and feelings. I got to know her really well and loved what I saw. At first glance, Mac comes across as someone with very little depth and I kind of held my breath to see just what kind of character she would be. You need to know, the thought was fleeting because beyond those first few pages I got to see someone I could totally identify with. She had her heart ripped out and world turned upside down and instead of fading into the background, she took action. Mac has an incredible amount of heart and I loved watching the change she went through as each choice she made, turned her further away from everything she knew about herself. For someone in the middle of chaos, she showed a lot of bravery and it couldn’t have been easy being forced to grow up insanely fast. I love how she thought, for how incredibly human she was and it was easy to identify with her. I loved reading all the different insights she offers to what’s going on around her and the humor and sass she brought to the story. I still chuckle over the scene where she goes with Jericho to a vampire dressed as Jericho stated a “perky rainbow” She may not have had a lot of control over what was happening, but she fought for what she could and it made reading the book a great experience.
Excuse me one minute while I wipe the drool from my chin *quickly uses sleeve* Okay, where was I? Jericho Barrons and VLane. *wipes chin again* OMGSH could you get two men any more divine then these two?? Both are incredibly powerful, sexual men who are dangerous in their own ways. I honestly don’t know how Mac showed such restraint because these men were to die for. I loved the dynamics they brought to the story, the raw energy that had oozed off the page making it impossible not to want to keep reading. Both of them offer so much to the story but for me, the book was all about Barrons and I found myself asking all the same questions as Mac- who the heck is this man? Just when I thought I might have some kind of idea, the author throws in a word or an image that had me scrambling again. I love the way he was described as something wild and savage underneath a cultured veneer and couldn’t get enough of his sarcasm. I loved the interactions between him and Mac, his arrogance and mocking attitude driving me crazy. The man takes being “alpha” to a whole new level and I can’t wait to unravel the mystery surrounding him. He was just so forceful, commanding, dominating and I won’t lie – I spent a lot of the time panting over him *wipes chin* But I especially liked the Barron’s at the end – the protector who when all is said and done is man enough to paint fingernails. Yes, you read right – fingernails!! This is just the first book and already the man is turning up the heat. Heaven help my heart and body as I continue to read.
Coming from a person who’s read the books before, this is one of the best urban fantasy series out there. DARKFEVER holds nothing back and gives you an action packed, in your face, “OMGSH I can’t believe that just happened” experience with characters you’d love to do all kinds of things to. I wouldn’t hesitate in suggesting everyone needs to grab a copy for themselves. Just be careful because it’ll definitely create a fire within you and you’ll be joining the rest of us who’ve caught the “FEVER” and are hopelessly and completely addicted. Happy drooling… I mean reading!!

It's been a while since I've read Zarek's story and it packed just as powerful a punch as it did the first one. Wow. Sherrilyn truly is the Queen of Tortured Heroes. Everything about Zarek made my heart bleed and wish desperately for a happy ever after for him. This was such a gut wrenching story that I had to stop quite a few times just so I could remember to breathe.
I love the Dark Hunters. There's something about them that just revs my romance loving heart. They are unbelievably sexy and powerful, their sex appeal literally oozes off the pages. I've always been a sucker for the REALLY bad bad boy and you can't get much worse than Zarek. I'd say the man has a death wish but you'd have to actually care and he is so beyond it, it's almost a little scary. The nurturer in me BEGS for a way to save him and it took an amazing woman with unfathomable courage to reach in and touch him. Good gosh, I can feel the tears starting to fall!
I can't even begin to imagine how horrific it was growing up the way Zarek did, to wish for death and wake up each morning being denied the peace it would bring. Where all others saw was a sociopath in need of a serious putting down, thank heavens for Acheron who KNEW Zarek's heart and believed in him. Makes me love that man even more *insert sigh* It was never that Zarek didn't want to be friendly and reach out, he just didn't know how and each time he did, he became vulnerable and it was open season on him. People can be cruel, vicious even and what they don't understand, they reject. It would take a special person to FIGHT to get beyond the extremely toxic barriers Zarek had put up over the centuries but Astrid was the woman. My giddy romantic heart wants to sing praises for the woman the kept looking, searching for that small glimmer of hope and who held on tight when she found it. *insert another sigh and wipes away a stray tear*
This book was an emotional goldmine for me because it had me cheering for the underdog, touched deeply by the struggles he had overcome and for the unbelievable risk Zarek took by letting Astrid into his heart. Loving someone is easy, it's accepting it... owning it... putting your heart in the other's hands that's difficult and I LOVED watching his transformation. Seriously, I'm a gooey mess here because this is why I LOVE reading romance. To win against all the odds. It's beautiful.
I say, you'd be crazy not to read Dance With The Devil.... to not read any of the Dark Hunters series. Sherrilyn really does have a gift for writing sexy tortured heroes and I'm looking forward to devouring each book! She writes an amazing story, with a plot that's thick with action and humor. Gotta love the snarkiness but most of all... I love the chemistry and the tension as the characters do the "I want so bad... I need so bad but I'm not good for them" dance. I love watching the stubbornness wash away and seeing the passion between them. Definitely sizzling in places and that's just how I like my Dark Hunters! Happy reading! ...more
I don't even know where to begin in reviewing this book. I've been a huge fan of Lacey Weatherford's from the moment I read her amazing Of Witches & I don't even know where to begin in reviewing this book. I've been a huge fan of Lacey Weatherford's from the moment I read her amazing Of Witches & Warlocks series, and when she announced she was releasing a new book, I was excited to see what she'd do. Chasing Nikki, her first YA contemporary romance story, is NOTHING short of a masterpiece!
I'm the kind of reader who wants to be swept up into a story and connect with the characters. I want to FEEL something and close the book with the experience that I'd been on a journey. Holy cow! This book had me right from the beginning and dragged my tender beating heart right through to the stunning end. I felt every emotion possible - pain and understanding with Chase as he struggled to keep his life together, laughter over the antics he pulled to impress the girl, swooning over the tender moments, and anguish for the trials he had to face. This book is the TOTAL PACKAGE ... you honestly don't get any better than this because it is beautifully written with the kind of detail that makes you BELIEVE in the characters. You want to pull Chase and Nikki from the books and hug them.
I could gush about this book for hours, but I'll sum up everything you need to know about this book right here - do whatever you need to do so you can sit UNINTERRUPTED and devour this book. Chase Walker is incredible. This story is AMAZING, POWERFUL, and something that will tug so hard on your heartstrings, you will walk away CHANGED for the better. You OWE it to yourself to read this book....more
When I finished book one and sighed deeply over Wrath, I didn't think it could get any better. Then I started reading Lover Eternal, met Rhage and eveWhen I finished book one and sighed deeply over Wrath, I didn't think it could get any better. Then I started reading Lover Eternal, met Rhage and every romance book crush I've ever had flew out the window and paled in comparison. I have three words for you ... OH. MY. GOSH. I've only just finished reading the book and still my heart is racing, my insides are melting and I'm pretty sure I'll still be sighing this time next year. All I can say is this book has to be THE most erotically sensual, sexy as hell, beautifully romantic, gut wrenchingly raw book I have read in a very long time. Heaven forbid I suddenly become illiterate and the world of books was closed to me but if it did, this would be the book I'd hope would be my last. The story was AMAZING. I instantly fell into the story and it seriously became a burden to have to do anything that prevented me from reading. Ok here's something you have to swear to secrecy over but I even snuck into the restrooms at work because I couldn't wait a moment longer before I had myself a HUGE dose of Rhage. My addiction to the Black Dagger Brotherhood has become very permanent and it's all because of this glorious warrior.
So who do I talk about first? Rhage or Mary? I love knowing that alot of the books I've been reading lately, the female lead has been strong. Not strong as in indestructible but strong in character and in their ability to deal with anything and everything asked of them. I adored Mary. She's my favorite because even though her body was failing, her spirit was strong and she handle each situation with grace with very real reactions. I loved reading her responses to Rhage and how she had her insecurities about being with him. Once she was solid on the sincerity of his love for her, there was no going back. She embraced him fully, beast and all, to the complete astonishment of the brothers. I understand her resolve to be strong and not show vulnerability and equally cheered for her when in the face of losing it all, she didn't let the vulnerability deprive her of her heart and Rhage. She was a pure JOY to read.
*Insert GUSH here* When I see Santa this year, I know what I'm going to ask him for Christmas... Rhage. What a MAGNIFICENT MAGNIFICENT character. That man pulled on my heart strings HARD right from the beginning and all throughout the book I wanted desperately to swap places with Mary. Rhage broke my heart because from the first book, he was painted as the “whore” of the Brotherhood with a new girl every night, sometimes even two. He was forever commented for his gorgeous appearance, earning the nickname "Hollywood”. It made me wonder a little just how seriously he’d been taken and wondered whether it phased him a little. For that brief moment talking with Tohrment, he revealed himself honestly and it really set the tone for the rest of the book. One of the things he struggled with was the curse of the beast within him and it was amazing to watch the reaction he had to it. You would think with that kind of power he would use it to his advantage and it definitely helped him in his fight against the lesser, but there’s that vulnerability that he may eventually hurt the people he loves. In fact, it was the very first thing he asks, despite the pain, when he becomes himself again. There was so much that I loved reading about him, his devotion and protection of Mary, the frustration he had as she kept him at arms distance, of the hurt he felt when he needed to protect his heart but most of all I couldn't get enough of the sheer sensuality that just OOZED off him. It was intense to read how Rhage could be this senseless killing machine but be incredibly sensual the next. There were so many scenes that had me melting or extremely flushed (I told my workmate one scene and almost had to excuse myself for a moment) but the way he talked to her, the way he seduced her was breathtaking. I think one of my favorite scenes was just little into the story when she fed him breakfast - goosebumps and fever worthy. Do I really need to go on? I loved peeling back the layers and learning not everything is as it seems.
Aside from falling hopelessly in love, there was something in the book that I wasn't expecting- Zsadist. You want to read about a tortured, hostile, EXTREMELY misunderstood bad boy? Look no further because he IS the poster child for it. My first impression was "Wow, scary much?" but I really started seeing there was a method to his madness and that nurture instinct kicked in so hard I wanted to reach in and hold him (chances are if I did he'd eat me...literally LOL) I can't begin to tell you how excited I am that book 3 Lover Awakened is his book. Sigh .... I smell another phenomenal read ahead.
The only thing left to say is to please don't be like I was, don't hold yourself back from reading this book. Regardless of whether you love the hot sensuality of romance or you skim over it, Lover Revealed really is a fantastic read and incredible story. It's a book full of sexy romance and an absolute MUST READ. If it wasn't for the fact I'm devouring the books every chance I get, I'd be kicking myself for being so stubborn. Enjoy...more

When I was asked to read and later review STOLEN DREAMS, the comment “I hope you like this Belinda” was offered. In my mind, it’s a Stacey Kennedy story so for me it was a no brainer – I would read it and fall head over heels in love with it. It didn’t matter that there were no vampires or werewolves in it; I was ready to try a new kind of supernatural… a ghost. Having read some of the amazing scenes from Stacey’s previous books, I had no doubt the story would be filled with humor and incredible emotion. What I was curious about was how would she give me those hot yummy bedroom scenes when one of the characters was strictly no touching? Would the story still contain the heat I’m addicted too? Let me tell you… OH HECK YEAH!
STOLEN DREAMS tells the story of Tess Jennings. She’s just a regular character – beautiful, successful, great best friend. But there’s something that sets her apart. Something that others may call a gift but most days, she calls a flat out curse because she can see, hear and talk to ghosts. These lingering spirits come to her for help and to keep them from annoying her for eternity, Tess sucks it up and helps but one morning as she’s in Starbucks getting her morning dose of caffeine, she finally meets her match. Tired of feeling harassed, Tess ignores the ghost who approaches her, hoping the spirit will take the hint and take a hike. And he does… to her work, her apartment and out on a blind date where he proceeds to arouse her with some HOT HOT dirty talk. Knowing that if she doesn’t respond to him she’ll be walking around with a perpetual blush, Tess learns that the ghost – Kipp McGowan was a cop who worked on a famous cold case and he has an important message to give his partner – he has a clue to the murder of Hannah Reid that is linked also with his death. He needs Tess’s help and after a little reluctance, she agrees. The story unfolds as the duo include Kipp’s partner Zach and Tess finds herself knee deep in detective work, all the while fighting hard the attraction she feels towards Kipp. She tells herself she shouldn’t feel this way, that as a ghost he’ll move on but the chemistry between the two is scorching and it leads to some pretty imaginative scenes. As both their hearts become invested, the question lingers in the air – how long with Kipp be around before he moves on and how will Tess ever be able to survive it?
Stacey did such an amazing job writing this story because it was filled with so many funny moments that helped lighten some of the tense moments. She has such a good sense of humor that shines through her characters and my favorite scene would have to be where the men explained to Tess how police work was such a rush that it gave them all hard ons. Can you imagine being Tess, in the middle of nowhere (they were on the case) suddenly standing still? Where do you think her eyes would have gone? Yep and she just had to comment on it. Made me chuckle so hard, I had to share it with my husband. I love that I was able to picture the story in my mind because it made it so much easier to become a part of what I’m reading. Stacey always does such a great job describing each scene and there was one mid way that will forever be etched in my mind it was so HOT *fans self* Another thing I loved about how it was written was there are books where you’re part way through and you can pretty much guess the way it’ll end. With STOLEN DREAMS, you think you know but as I read there were just so many different possibilities. It helped keep everything fresh and my mind intrigued because I wanted to know what would happen. When I finally did get to the end and everything was revealed, I was left with a huge smile on my face because I was completely satisfied.
Tess had so much sass and I loved it! I could feel the turmoil she went through as she tried to fight how she felt for Kipp and that man didn’t make it any easy for her. I loved that she was able to stand up for herself and put her foot down when people tried to get her to do something she didn’t want to do. Fat lot of good it did because she ended up helping but she was able to do things on her terms. I really liked the image I have of her in my mind, of the silent conversations she had with Kipp and how she would get completely caught up in them. More and more she started seeing him as a man, not just as a sexy but pesky spirit. I can’t wait to see where the next book takes her as she finally realizes that she has been given a gift and that her life has now changed.
Kipp can come haunt me anytime he wants, especially if he brings that sweet talking mouth of his. My first reaction to Kipp as I watched him try to get Tess’s attention was to shiver and giggle because he was just downright sexy. He’s the type of man that once he focuses on you you’re a goner and that pretty much sums it up for Tess. I can’t begin to imagine how hard it was for him being a ghost – not being able to touch or smell, to spend all day with the woman you love and never be able to truly kiss and hold her. But he didn’t just heat up the pages for me, Kipp also had a very caring heart and I wept for him when he finally had that moment of “OMGSH I’m a ghost. I’ve really lost my opportunity to live the normal life I’ve dreamt of” He always came across as a strong, focused character that seeing those moments where he was vulnerable were endearing. I loved how he was with Hannah and the strength he had to put solving her crime first, even though it looked like doing it would make him move on also. So many incredible moments with this character and it was impossible not to fall in love with him.
This is definitely going to be another hit for the author because STOLEN DREAMS is the story that sucks you in and leaves you sighing. All I can say is thank goodness this is a series because I haven’t gotten close to enough of Kipp and his charming ways and I have a feeling as Tess begins to learn more about her gift, things will really start getting interesting. Can’t say enough about just how much I loved this book. Go grab yourself a copy from Smashwords.com. Happy Reading!

When I first read about the series, I was scared by the supposed "erotic" nature of the series and thought it would be too much for me to be comfortable with. *PHHFFT* A few times over the past year, I've picked this book up in particular, looked at it, put it in my book basket, looked at it again and put it back on the shelf. That's until yesterday when I was looking through the Kindle application on my phone. Up popped Dark Lover and without giving it a second thought I bought it. That was all it took to becoming INSANELY addicted to these incredible men. I seriously didn't stand a chance after the first chapter and now all I can say is how INCREDIBLY crazy I've been that it's taken me this long to read a Black Dagger Brotherhood book. Yep, I'm The Bookish Snob and I'm addicted to the Brotherhood. * nods in respect to all those who warned me that it wouldn't take long before I was hooked*
Nothing beats starting a new series than going for the top dog and turning his world upside down. Wrath was no where close to wanting a romantic interest in his life and was quite content on killing his way through his day. Even more, he doesn't want to get saddled with the daughter of one his most close and trusted member of the Brotherhood. He is fine with staying in the shadows and keeping people at arms distance. Surprise surprise one look at Beth and that steely resolve of his crumbles and fight as hard as he may, it never fully recovers. This was an amazing story of two people coming together, from different lifestyles, from different mindsets and falling in love. I loved being pulled into this story, of being part of some extremely beautiful scenes that really churned up my emotions. I couldn't get enough of the story and hated the fact it didn't just keep on going forever. I don't think I'd ever get sick of reading about Wrath and Beth - again a really BEAUTIFUL way to start the series.
I liked Beth alot. She refused to be bulldozed over by Wrath and was one of the first people to ever put him in his place or even tell him no. It must have been really hard to never know your heritage, to not know who your father was and to suddenly wake up to find out that not only did he love you but that unfortunately he died before you could meet him. So many things were happening with Beth, so many different twists and I really think she handled herself well because it'd have to be terrifying. I can't imagine how scary it would be to turn around to find Wrath in all his sexy bulky glory, totally dominating the space around him or to find out that your world and who you ultimately are is going to change. Beth shows an amazing amount of courage, especially in the face of fear when any other person would have run and hid forever.
Wrath. Sex on a stick Wrath *giggle* The very first opinion I had of him was that he was this cold and detached person, lacking any kind of emotion and warmth. I kind of got the impression that he was empty inside for whatever reason and it made me feel a little sad for him. There was no connecting to him as he kept himself at arms length for everyone and his sole focus was on killing and the incredible high that comes from it. What kind of life is that when that's all you think your good for? Wrath was a great warrior, revered amongst the Brotherhood and yet he felt unworthy of it. I could see a mile away how incredible he was and enjoyed watching the journey he went on. There were times I wanted to reach in the book and make out with him then hold him and then slap him because he drove me crazy with how he bounced back and forth. He had such a hide time resolving the feelings he had for Beth, craving to have her and to be had by her but also feeling that he wasn’t good for her. The constant come to me and then push away and Beth, although very confused, was able to hold on tight and ride it through. I loved watching him come alive and slowly become more human (well as human as a vampire can be) and see him soften from a hardened warrior to one who knew how to be gentle and tender. He really did take my breath away and he was more than I could ever hope for in an Alpha male character. The man curled me toes.
Talking of toe curling, there were some INCREDIBLE scenes in this book that could melt even the hardest and most cynical of hearts. I'd just finish one sigh to be lead by the author into an even bigger sigh. You really got a glimpse at a powerful set of warriors and the camaraderie they had with one another. They truly were a brotherhood and my bad boy appetite has definitely been roused. An example of a few scenes you can look forward to that I LOVED were the ones where you get a glimpse at the vulnerability of Wrath. I can't tell you how amazing it was to watch the transformation he went through. The concern he had for Beth, how he hung on every move and emotion, always seeking to please her in anyway he could. The fear he had through her conversion and the total lack of control he had as he watched her suffer killed him. The marriage ceremony and ritual sent shivers down my spine and put tears in my eyes as my imagination worked over time trying to show me the scene as it unfolded. All I can say is a band of honorable warriors joined together to pay solemn homage, an adoring groom whose breath is stolen as he looks at the woman he loves and bride whose emotions get the better of her was definitely a scene worth remembering because it was just that moving. And just you wait to the barn scene where Wrath is revealed in all his masculine glory. *sigh* Good good stuff!
I desperately wanted to know who Mr X was (the resident evil) and found my mind looking at all the different characters in the book, wondering if they were him. It took a while for it to dawn on me that maybe we hadn’t met Mr X yet and I’m telling you, I can’t wait for the big reveal. My gosh what a sick bastard he was (sorry seemed like the only word to describe him). The way he manipulated people and totally messed with their heads made my stomach hurt. It didn't take long before I was ready for the show to be over, for the Brotherhood to get it over and done with and kill him. But unfortunately every story needs a villain and this guy, he's a doozy.
I am really glad I bought this book, that I finally stopped being stubborn and gave it a chance. It has set itself up to be a great series filled with AMAZING warriors that are guaranteed to kill you over and over again with their seductiveness and bad boy appeal. I highly recommend you check this book out. Don't be surprised if you find yourself just as addicted as I am. Enjoy! ...more

The author does such a wonderful job in creating stories about these strong and powerful warriors and pairing them with women who are by far their equals. When I saw Living Nightmare was due to be released, it was a no-brainer that I would buy it the second it hit the shelves and devour it. I'm glad I did because not only was this edition to the series exciting and filled with action but it was the best by far when it came to the Alpha male and his leading lady - Maddox and Nika.
There are so many variations out there where the male struggles with the battle within himself and needs to find the one female in the entire world that can quiet that torment and restore peace to his soul. I love the author's version where she gives her warriors life marks in the form of trees on their chests that over time begin to lose its leaves. With the falling of that final leaf, the warrior is lost and his life is forfeit. The only way to save him, the only way to restore his life mark is finding the woman who helps make him whole. As a hopeless romantic who thrives on those kinds of sentiments, this book had me in total heaven and there were many points throughout the story where the only sounds you could hear were of me sighing heavily (in a happy way).
I loved the two main characters of the story, Maddox and Nika, and it was incredibly easy to feel a connection with them and the struggles they were going through. Maddox simply blew my mind with just how far gone he was and straight away, I wanted to reach out and find a way to help restore his gentler side. He was a tortured soul who had come to the point where he just didn't care and knew sooner or later, he would cross a line and hurt those around him. The author wrote him in such a way that my first thought was there wasn't enough good qualities about him to redeem him, but occasionally I would see a small glimpse of decency and the more exposure he had with Nika, the more she was able to influence him. The more time they spent together, the easier it was to see that Maddox was in fact an incredibly passionate man who still had a lot to offer the world. When it came to Nika, he never thought he was good enough for her and worried that if he made any room in his life for her, he would ultimately destroy her.
As Maddox developed throughout the story, I loved seeing him rein in all his aggression and instead use it to protect and love Nika. For me, Maddox is my favorite kind of hero because despite the odds, he was able to rise above everything that would destroy him and became an amazing character. He was still a little rough around the edges but that's who he was and I couldn't stop smiling.
It's so important when creating characters that play love interests, to make sure that regardless of how different they are, they balance and complement each other. Nothing makes me sadder than reading a book where there is a very obvious inequality to the couple and I'm left wondering why the author thought they should ever be together. Maddox was an extremely strong character and so it was important that Nika would have her own way to match that and she did it perfectly. Nika had gone through so much in her life and overcame the torture of being mentally connected with the monsters of the story.
Through the help of Maddox and loved ones, she had slowly regained her mind and transformed from a weak, frail woman to one who was able to speak her mind and go after what she wanted. I loved that she set her mind and heart on Maddox and regardless of how gruff he could be, she showed courage and great patience in letting him know that she loved him and that she would do everything she could to protect and save him. For all the stubbornness of Maddox, Nika brought her own to the relationship and all throughout the book I cheered for her. Where past experiences would have broken anyone else, they only made her stronger and more capable to defend herself. I loved that she didn't allow herself to be weak and that she fought for everything that was important to her.
One thing I found interesting as I read this book, and also from the other books in the series, is the author doesn't solely stick to the main characters' story but weaves in other subplots. You're able to gain insight into the other characters within the Sentinel world and there were quite a few side stories in Living Nightmare that I wish more time was given to explore them because they had me incredibly curious to see what would happen next. A few times, I felt there was a little too much going on and I would definitely suggest readers start at the beginning of the series and read the books in order because without prior knowledge of the characters, it would get a little confusing. But even after saying that, the author writes her characters in a way where a connection is easy to make and you're pulled into the story.
Reading this book was a great experience and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I had no trouble being able to imagine what was happening and my emotions were almost immediately involved. For those who love their romance with a tortured bad boy, this is definitely the book and series to read. I can't wait for the next installment. Happy reading!

I'm telling you, Ghost Of A Chance completely sucked me and held my heart. You have two amazing characters - Remy, who is this tortured individual whose stuck living the consequences of his actions. He's had time to realize the errors of his ways and is desperate to find the woman who'll help him. But not just desperate for her ... desperate for love. Even though he's filled with self doubt, he goes on a date with Susannah and is completely blown away. For a ghost, Remy is incredibly sexy and sincere and I held my breath through most of the book, begging that he get his happily ever after. I feel in love with Susannah the moment I met her and I whispered "She's the one." I loved the way they interacted and that she gave Remy a chance.
If I could sum Ghost Of A Chance up into one sentence it would be this - Deena Remiel has created a love story with a swoonworthy balance of tenderness, sensuality, hopeful longing and desperate desire, a romance you're not going to want to put down until you've savored every last word and emotion.
And because I just can't stop thinking about it:
I guess I'm a swoon-a-holic where when I'm in need, I reach back to those stories where I know I'm guaranteed a good read. Ghost Of A Chance has become one of those for me and I love the way I can slip back into the story and get the fix of romance I crave. Being the tortured hero junkie that I am, I just love Remy and that feeling I know we all get when we desperately want the HEA. Two people with so much to give but will it happen??
I really loved the intimate scenes in this book, one in particular because honestly, how does a ghost touch a woman? I loved the uniqueness of how Remy brings pleasure to Susannah and it had me closing my eyes, imaging it as well. It was erotic and sensual and absolutely PERFECT! I'll admit it made my heart melt and left me with a huge smile on my face.
I haven't read many of the 1NS series but I love the whole idea of capturing this moment between to hopeful want to be lovers and exploring it. It's a short story so it gives you the chance to fully dive in without the worry of interruptions pulling you away. You can fully immerse yourself from beginning to end and if you're like me, that's just what you need at the end of a long day or a weekend afternoon. Deena did a wonderful job making me care about Remy and Susannah and I know I won't be the only one sighing over this book. Definitely something to read and devour! ...more
WOW. Double WOW! Now that I've regained my senses, can I quickly laugh? I know... not exactly the kind of reaction you'd think you'd get from me so leWOW. Double WOW! Now that I've regained my senses, can I quickly laugh? I know... not exactly the kind of reaction you'd think you'd get from me so let me explain. Having met Deena (SQUEE) and read her book, Trinity (SQUEE x2) I was excited for the chance to read Brethren Beginnings for the Menage A Blog Tour she was participating in. One of the first things Deena said was "But it has no romance!" and it's to that I now chuckle. Dear, dear Deena - yes, I love romance but I love just as passionately HUNKY, SEXY, TORTURED heroes and you gave them to me in a breathtaking fashion! Everyone... clear a space in your hearts because the Brethren have ARRIVED!
How can you not love Angels sent to earth to protect, serve and heal the inhabitants from the effects of Evil. These men put the W in Warrior and S in Swoonworthy. In Brethren Beginnings, Deena gives us a glimpse into the lives of three angels - Gabriel, Nathanael *insert dreamy sigh* and Cassiel. These men each have their own roles but all share the same purpose and I absolutely ADORED them! I couldn't read fast enough as I watched them face evil head on without hesitation but showed incredible mercy and compassion for those they were helping. I even made the comment that before this book I hadn't known it was possible to swoon in a NON romantic situation. Well I did and each story touched my heart.
So who was my favorite Brethren? Gabriel, who reached out and saved a group of young people caught up in the depravity of being under the control of a horrible pimp? Nathanael, the tortured angel worried he is losing his grip on the good in him as he delights in delivering justice to the unrighteous? Or Cassiel, the healer who brings joy to sick children and stops at nothing to protect them from the influence of evil? While I loved them all and each made me a little giddy, I confess... Nathanael stole my heart and claimed me his! Sure, I was swayed by the leather pants, boots and sword but it was the inner conflict he had, the despair he felt because he didn't feel quite "right" anymore. Being a defender of all that is good, he knew he was on a slippery slope and it was pointing down to Hell. So tortured, so delicious, so ready for me to swoop in a save him. I absolutely LOVED the conversation he had with E.L at the end, it gave me hope that Nathanael isn't as lost as he thinks he is and I can't wait to see him in future books.
Deena is one of my favorite new authors and one to look out for. She's a sneaky swoon attacker. You think you're safe, you think you know what's going to happen and then she blows you away and leaves you sighing. Make sure you also grab a copy of Trinity, a full length novel staring the angel Michael. Ahhhh so much to say about him but that's a review for another day. Can't wait for the next installment! ...more

This book NEEDS to come with a warning label. Oh wait, it does *rereads "this is a hot threesome story..."* Well it needs to include that the sexiness and intensity between Naomi, Ethan and Javier is so HOT that if you're not swooning, you're hosing off the bed sheets! I absolutely loved this book and it's another winner for Eve.
There's a reason why Eve is an author that's an auto buy for me. I don't even have to read the blurb or see the cover to know I'll enjoy every word. That says a lot because I'm a complete cover whore and have been known to turn away from a book when I wasn't "feeling" the blurb. There are so many things I love about Eve's books and this could very well be my favorite of hers to date.
One thing I love the most is the heroines in each book and Delicate Freakn' Flower had one so feisty that she literally screamed from the pages. Naomi is surrounded by loud, abrasive, rough and tumble shifters and craves for any sense of "normalcy" in her life. So much that she will ignore her shifter instincts and hold on to anything human. She proudly and loudly declares herself a delicate flower and is furious when her life is turned upside down by not one, but TWO suitors declaring her their mate. Does she get two calm, gentle human mates? Nope, she gets two hot as heck shifter Lacrosse players, Javier and Ethan and they drive her NUTS! I give her kudos, she gave it a good try to ignore the feelings they stirred in her and her own need to claim them. I wouldn't have been able to do it. One moment under their scrutiny and I'd be putty in their hands. I loved the attitude she gave, the way she tried to get what she needed but most of all, I loved it when she finally gave herself to them *sigh* it made for some hot lovin'
Javier and Ethan were PERFECT! I loved how they were both best friends and that they were able to roll with the punches when they realized they were mated to the same woman. It didn't become a contest to see who was better, it became how they could both help Naomi accept them and the mating. They both had these amazing attributes that made it hard to choose which I loved best. I loved Ethan and how he seemed like the under dog. He wasn't this suave casanova - he was honest, dedicated and completely focused on making Naomi happy. Javier was silver tongued with all the right flirty words but I loved how ready he was to commit, without a second thought. Together they were so protective and I can't even begin to imagine how they were together when they set their sights on you. Complete swoonfest!
This was a great book for a lazy afternoon. I had so much fun reading it and I walked away with that "feel good" feeling I expect after I finished devouring a story. I wasn't disappointed and this is definitely a book lovers of romance and shapeshifters will want to get their hands on. Two thumbs up Eve! Happy reading! ...more

I was a COMPLETE goner!! This man felt like he was dipped in decadent chocolate ... I was dipped in chocolate or heck, we both were because he was absolutely SINFUL!! He was caloric!! He was swoonworthy!! He was masterful!! He was panty melting material!! It didn't take long for me to fall under his spell to where I was ready to follow any of his commands. In fact had you watched me reading, you would've heard me whispering giddily "Darius, tell me to say it. I will you know... I love you." This is the EXACT reason why I love reading romance and it just got better and better.
I loved the mixture of historical romance and bdsm. Now before you go thinking of lords and ladies wielding floggers and chains, it's not like that. This was really light bdsm - think robe sashes to restrain and blind folds. The focus was more on the need to submit and dominant... to provide the needs of the other so that both were happy and fulfilled. I thought Raine did an outstanding job with it, the things Darius would say to Marianne making me tingle. I loved the way the author explained it and the limits she set within the story. It made for interesting dynamics between the couple, especially when it came to sharing feelings of love.
I adored this couple. Can you imagine how incredible it would be to find out the man you marry has loved you for what seems like your entire life? You have been watched over and protected. Things you said in passing carefully and lovingly remembered. It was enough to make me swoon to know Darius had always loved Marianne, he was just bidding his time before stepping in and making her his. The opening scenes were enough to make me feel like his gaze was on me, it was so easy to fall into the story and join the characters.
I loved the conflict and inner turmoil I found in His Perfect Passion. It reached in and grabbed hold of my heart, laughing and crying for both of them. Marianna has this terrible secret, one she hopes Darius will never find out because even though it takes her a while, she actually loves him and doesn't want to lose him. To know his wife is harboring something, something he can't fix and wipe away the sadness from her eyes, it hurts Darius. Oh gosh, it was all just so beautiful because all they needed to do is confide in one another but hey, what would the story be without the extra angst to make you really love the characters? The storyline was PERFECT for me as a romance junkie. It left me breathless and excited for more.
I would recommend this book to everyone without hesitation. Please don't let the term "bdsm" make you overlook this wonderful romance story. Love comes in all forms ... what's important is the journey and this is one I am so VERY grateful I didn't miss. Happy reading everyone!! ...more

Three hours later and buzzing with excitement, I finished devouring The Willow and immediately reached for the next book in the series The Wicked. A definite sign that what I had just read was amazing.
Straight away I was drawn to Nexi, really wanting to find out who she was and how she was going to handle being brought into a world where she had always belonged but had been kept from to protect her. At first it seemed a little strange, that with the rapid fire changes happening in her life, she seemed to accept everything a little too easily. It wasn't until I continued reading that I began to see it was something that worked well for her because she wasn't then prone to wasting a lot of time whining (I loathe whiny characters) about how terribly unfair her life was. It helped her develop into a stronger character that even as she was pushed to her limits through the story, she was smart enough to realize there wasn't much she could do and instead focused on her own attitude. She faced a lot in this story, discovering things about herself and her past, about loved ones she didn't know she had and about what she was truly capable of when forced to fight for herself and those she had grown to love. She has all the potential for a great female character, filled with sass and energy and just so you know, she and Kyden are SPECTACULAR!
This story introduced Kyden, the guardian warrior assigned to train Nexi who inevitably falls in love with her and sets the book on FIRE. If you love your male leads passionate, over protective and alpha with a capital A, look no further than Kyden because he is the poster child for them. There's not much not to love about him. He's incredibly sexy with an often laid back flirty nature one moment but flip that switch and he becomes this fierce warrior who has such a power-packed presence bullies would cross the road to avoid him. I have to say he got my blood boiling when he turned all seductive and alpha male and the more I read the deeper I fell in love with him. He was what pushed the book over the top for me and guaranteed I'd keep reading the series.
This is the first time reading something by Stacey Kennedy and I have to say I was extremely impressed with just how easy it was to become immersed in the story and how effortless it was to read it. I was a little reserved at first because the book wasn't as long as I'm used to so I was worried that either the story was a few basic scenes strung together that would leave me feeling blah or that it would be so incredibly fast-paced because the author raced to cram everything in. There was no racing in this story, no huge gaps of unexplained time and although it was fast-paced, everything had a purpose and there was a very natural flow and rhythm to it. When I finished, I was left not only feeling satisfied and grateful for an amazing read but also with the sense that the author had really enjoyed writing it. This is definitely a series and author to keep an eye on. What a great way start to a new series!
