At first, I felt skeptical at reading about the Sanguinar because from the povs of the Theronai, they was a lot of negativity going on. But after reading this book, Logan and Hope are my favourite couple. Not once did my attention ever stray from the story.
Of all the Theronai that have been mentioned thus far, Nicholas has been my favourite and I enjoyed seeing more of him in this book. It was also refreshing to read about a Theronai who didn't hate the Sanguinar.
Can't wait for the next book to come out!!!!!(less)

I use to love Seph, she was a pretty cool character and there was no doubt that she was the Lustrata. But I didn't get the best feeling out of reading this book. I kept feeling like events that were suppose to be dramatic, weren't crafted as dramatic as they were suppose to be. There really should have been more development between Johnny and Seph. Yeah, Johnny. Cute and adorable badass band dude, who kinda acts like a little boy. Sure, it's cute when it's around Seph cause they flirt, but when he's a jealous little conceited boy who -is suppose to be the Domn Lup- but doesn't really look at the big picture, it gets just a little really annoying. Between Johnny and Menessos, I kinda wished she had chosen Menessos. At least he's not a whiny little brat. Love triangles are pretty played out so they're hard to write and develop. Halfway through the book I was like "Does she like Johnny or Menessos?"
At the big battle scene at the end, I felt like I was looking through the perspective of some random bystander. I know that the sealing of the barrier was suppose to be the "climax" but I got confused when she and Johnny didn't have a monumental scene cause according to the scrying glass, he was suppose to "die." Furthermore, after making a big fuss about the fiery ray of death, we didn't even get to see Fax Torris die!!! He was the freakin' main baddie and he caused all this shit and all of a sudden, he's dead, like that *snaps fingers*
The ending could also be much more rounded out cause Seph wonders if Menessos will RISE FROM THE DEAD ooooh, but there's no indication of why or how other than the fact that she's all like "MINEEEE" when she hexes him the second time.
I'd have liked to see more development in terms of Persephone herself who's suppose to be the protagonist. I don't really feel as if there's a turning point to her accepting her duties as Lustrata. She just kinda rolls with it and I guess that's pretty chill, but she muddles along with everyone which leaves me bored.
Compared to the other books, this one was kinda meh. I really had to plow through the middle before something interesting caught my attention. I'm hoping that the one after will be better.(less)

I had seriously underestimated this book after the jumbled up plot in the last book but the series is back and kicking ass as per usual. It was refreshing to read of Miranda and David again even after they got together in the first book and the betrayal in the second. It was interesting to see events happen from Faith's perspective as well as her emotional journey through the book and at the end, her death. She was one of the best characters I've ever read and she will surely be missed. I'm glad Ms. Sylvan brought back the Signets and enjoyed seeing Cora emerge a stronger though fledgling Queen.
A lot went on in this book but I have to say I wasn't the least bit confused and followed easily. Didn't expect Jeremy Hayes to end up as the Prime of Australia, nor did I expect Faith to really die until like the last two pages before she detonated herself. Deven's perspective is always an interesting read... though we learnt quite a bit about the we have yet to learn more about his long life as an assassin.
SERIOUS cliff hanger at the end of the book... but I never stopped believing that somehow David would come back to life... It's extremely rare that a book gives you characters that you love and laugh and cry and fight for.
Hopes for the next book: Miranda and David somehow find each other, a reveal on Deven's past, more on Cora and Jacob (who are so adorable btw)(less)

The book is a page turner, its events are so fast-paced that ever chapter leaves you wanting more. I loved it up until chapter 16-ish when Helen started demeaning herself and her powers. It got seriously annoying, I wanted to shake her and tell her to stop complaining about her "death" and start doing something meaningful about it. What I loved most about this book however, was the good camaraderie and playful banter between the Sentinels. I look forward to reading more of this world.(less)
