Wolf wouldn't stop going on about how he's a dirty Indian etc basically woe-is-me, everyone is so racist.. but that really wasn't the case. I couldn't figure out what century this book was supposed to be in...obviously the 21st century because of the presence of cars..but someone should have told the characters that!! Wolf made way too much of a deal about his heritage.
My other complaint is that there is heaps of background for wolf's character but hardly any for Mary. She sometimes brings up her Aunt's opinion on things but we never learn anything more...In fact why IS Mary in dinky Wyoming in the middle of nowhere, in a climate she's not prepared for. I'm trying to rack my brain...but seriously WHY did she go there in the first place?? On top of this she seems too frumpy for the 21st Century...she wears shapeless bland clothes and wears no make-up at all (um, what?) and is a virgin. She comes across as sheltered and naive but then she stands up for the dirty ol' Indian and sticks to her guns...so conflicting!
My other issue is more of a personal nature, I happen to have a learning disability...and so did this villain! I didn't like how this villain was portrayed...because he thinks DIFFERENTLY (typical of learning disabled) then automatically his brain must be wired WRONG so he does villainous things (..what?!). LADY! this is called a psychopath, not someone with a learning disability! He's also portrayed like he can't do day to day things and is continuously tied to his mother's apron strings because he is so inept. GRRRR!
Rant over, I do not recommend this conflicting mess! However I did give it one star because it COULD have been good....more

Gosh, I did not like this book at all! I thought that I might have liked it because it seemed like a nice medieval romance. Not the case! I found the heroine to come across like a giggling teenager of about 13 whilst the hero came across as an extremely abusive man and a complete jerk. Not to mention two rape scenes, potential affair and multiple cases of abuse towards the heroine due to paranoia (the word jealousy is too subtle for the hero's behaviour). I probably shouldn't call him a hero either he was more a villain, or at least had a multiple personality disorder.
I found myself so disgusted with scenes in this book I only read about 2/3rds of it. It obviously must get better due to the good reviews I saw on here, but I could not tough it out!...more

The first part of this book and the witty banter reminded me of my all-time favourite book Jane Eyre however despite its gloomy premise it managed to be extremely funny. Not to mention I loved the enormous plot twist at the end, I never saw that coming!
This was a nice, funny and surprising read, highly recommended!!...more
