Most of the author’s books (that I’ve read) have a hot alpha male saying things like I call the shots. I own your sexuality. He’s demanding in bed and gives her multiple orgasms. That happens here, but for some reason it wasn’t as good as in her other books. Maybe because Jessie was the initiator more than Brandt. I skimmed parts of the sex scenes.
The opening scene was off somehow. Jessie is having sex with Mike who is offering her to his drunk buddies. Brandt interrupts and stops them. Later we learn that Jessie hasn’t had sex in ages and wanted a wild night. A lot of good stories have strangers meeting and having sex. But this felt odd. I’m not sure what was off about it - lack of passion or desire?
17-month Landon has a major role. His mother is in jail for four months. Brandt and Jessie care for Landon during this time, which causes them to spend time together. Landon drinks from a bottle and doesn’t talk yet. A lot of time is spent with the couple caring for, playing with, and loving Landon. Brandt was a wonderful, doting caretaker for the baby. He was the ideal husband-father type with the way he gave his time, energy and attention to both the baby and Jessie. But the development of a loving relationship between Brandt and Jessie wasn’t being shown. Maybe the problem was Brandt had been in love with Jessie in the past, and we never saw how that happened. For her part, she never felt anything for him before. But after spending this time with him she decides she wants sex.
Some interesting plot things happen toward the end.
I had one minor problem with plot logic, but I was willing to accept it. Brandt had a lot of relatives with children who could have helped him take care of Landon. But he told Jessie she was the only one who could help. To add conflict, this baby was the result of Jessie’s former husband Luke cheating on her. Luke has since died.

STORY BRIEF: Ginger is a single mother with an 8-year-old boy Hayden. Ginger was not married to Hayden’s father who died in an accident. Her father Dash is confined to a wheelchair and lives with Ginger and Hayden. Ginger took over her father’s law practice when he retired.
Kane used drink a lot and had sex with lots of women. He stopped. Now he spends time ranching and mentoring young boys in the Little Buddies program. For two years he has been Hayden’s Buddy.
The story begins with Ginger falling down the stairs at her office, causing injuries requiring a leg cast and an arm sling. Her son worries about her and calls Kane. Kane stays at Ginger’s home for several days to take care of Hayden, Dash, and Ginger while she recovers. Of course she’s unable to wash her hair, so that starts things between her and Kane in the bathroom.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: This author has a formula and it keeps on working. She’s done many books in this Wyoming cowboy/rancher series. They’re all similar, and they’re erotically fun. The guy is ultra-macho in the bedroom “my way or no way.” The girl happily submits, follows orders, and is rewarded with multiple orgasms every time. The author writes good sex scenes, showing emotions and desires. There is rear door activity, and a little bondage and spanking.
Another positive is that the author didn’t annoy me or insult me with cheap plot devices, contrived conflicts, and stupidity. I was surprised that the author did not have the couple fight and separate which seems to be what most romance authors do. I was happy that she did something different for a change. Instead, she had some conflicts and events with others. Although, I was unsettled that the story about Brandt and Jessie was not finished - probably to be continued in a sequel. That didn’t fit well here. But it wasn’t a big problem.

She left town with her latest boyfriend leaving Harper to support and care for her younger sister Bailey, who is now a senior in high school. Due to lack of business, the tanning salon closes and Harper loses her job. There are only a few jobs available, and the employers won’t hire Harper because of things her mother had done. Harper’s friend Celia suggests Harper work for Bran who needs a ranch hand while his guy is recovering from an injury. Bran hires Harper because he can’t get anyone else. She’s never done ranch work before, but she works hard for him. Harper is a curvaceous beauty who entered and won many beauty contests. Her motive was earning money. Bran is a hunky guy who inherited his cattle ranch. It keeps him busy.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: I was surprised that Harper worked for Bran for quite a while before anything intimate happened. But when it did, it was hot. I liked that Harper insisted on no sex while she was on the clock. Sex was strictly an after-hours thing. I liked that he was so hot for her which is a turn-on. She was tempting, playful, and loved it. It was a temporary job. Harper planned to leave the area when her sister graduated high school. There were a couple of arguments that felt contrived. He didn’t express himself well and her feelings were hurt. But those weren’t major enough to bring down the story. The purpose of the story is lots of hot sex. There is some spanking and rear door activity - and of course a happy ending.

STORY BRIEF: Lainie is a medical technician who travels the rodeo circuit to treat injuries of contestants. She begins a relationship with Hank, a bullfighter. Later she meets Kyle, a bull rider, and starts seeing him as well. The two men have always been in different locations until one event where all three are together. The guys find out Lainie has been dating the other, and Lainie finds out the guys have been friends since they were kids. Lainie doesn’t want to choose between them, so the guys decide to share her at the same time. This has been a secret fantasy of hers, so she agrees. They get a camper, and the three of them travel together for the next three weeks where the guys will be doing the same rodeo circuit. The plan was for threesomes, but several circumstances cause Lainie to be with just one of the guys. So there is some jealousy and fairness attempts to provide “alone time” with the other guy.
Some of the conflicts and side stories include: A lot of time is spent on rodeo events and life on the road for rodeo people. Hank’s sister is secretly performing in rodeos. Hank is torn between working on the family ranch vs. rodeo work. Lainie’s job is changing. It’s becoming obvious that Lainie will need to choose between the men. Lainie is assaulted by someone.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: This wasn’t as good as some of her other cowboy books. I wanted a better story or to be more emotionally drawn to the characters. Part of the story included someone assaulting Lainie which was not developed enough. It was resolved in a believable way, but it wasn’t interesting. It had potential. The purpose of the book is hot cowboy sex. But the sex scenes were just ok, not special, not hot enough. Maybe due to lack of emotional pull. I’m not sure why. A few times I wanted it to be over. Sex scenes included two men with one woman and rear door activity.
OTHER BOOKS: My two favorite Lorelei James books are in the Rough Riders series: “All Jacked Up” and “Cowgirl Up and Ride.” I gave 4 stars to both of them. “Corralled” is the first book in the Blacktop Cowboys series.

REVIEWER’S OPINION: There was nothing insulting, none of my pet peeves. It works for what it is - erotic romance. There is a lot of sex, bossy caveman style. Cam gives a lot of orders for example he says: upstairs, now, get naked, wait for me. That’s the flavor. There is rear door activity and a ménage scene, two men and a woman. The first 60% of the book is getting to know each other and smokin’ hot sex. The last 40% is more of a story. It’s about growth and change through tragedy, insecurities, and family relationships.
This is one in the McKay family series. Each brother and one sister have their own book. But each can be read as a stand-alone.
Minor annoyance with the publisher Samhain: The cover is hot and really good. I love “her abs.” But the models don’t match the characters. Domini has white blond hair, cover girl has dark hair. It peeks out from under her hat. Cam has chest hair, cover guy has none. It disappoints me. Are there no models out there with chest hair?
STORY BRIEF: Domini is an orphan from the Ukraine who now works as a chef in a Wyoming restaurant. Cam was a soldier and is now a deputy sheriff. One of his legs was amputated above the knee and he wears a prosthetic leg. He and Domini are attracted to each other but Cam won’t act on it because he’s embarrassed about his leg. He also likes rough sex and being dominant. He believes she wouldn’t like it. After months of frustrated desire, Domini finally tells Cam she wants to be his submissive – she had been drinking with girlfriends. So he takes her up on it, and they begin a hot and passionate affair. But Cam won’t let her see or touch his leg. He either blindfolds her or positions her in ways to ensure this.
During the last part of the book, things happen to other people which affect Domini and Cam. I’m being vague to avoid spoilers. Also, Domini has an insecurity about something.

She is a physical therapist who recently bought a building. She wants to rehab it and open a medical center. Because it’s a historic landmark, she is required to hire an architect specializing in restoration. Jack is the only one available in the area. She hates Jack.
Jack wants the job overseeing a large restoration project in Utah, but the owners have rigid morality issues. They won’t hire a bachelor. When Keely asks him to oversee her project, he agrees only if she’ll pretend to be his fiancé to help him get the Utah job. She reluctantly agrees. Now they have to act like they love each other and learn about each other.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: I loved their banter as they were getting to know each other. For example when Keely is guessing what Jack’s favorite movies are, she says “Jackass” and “The Jerk.” She’s a ranch girl and sees Jack as the metrosexual type. She calls him GQ. It was entertaining. I was pleased when the author used a good reason to separate them later instead of inaccurate assumptions (which are too frequently used). In general I’d say it’s a pretty good story. The main purpose of course is sex, and those scenes are hot and frequent. They are explicit and include rear door activity. If that’s what you’re looking for, go for it.
If I might suggest: it would have been nice to see some revenge against Martine, she was despicable.

They agreed not to marry and went their separate ways. The mother recently died, and Cash wants to spend time with his now 22-year-old daughter Macie. Macie comes to live on the ranch with Gemma and Cash. She’s an excellent cook and gets a job in the local diner. She also falls in love with Carter, who is working on the ranch for the summer. Carter is an artist and wants to sculpt and paint Macie. They too have a lot of great sex.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: I’m not sure how I feel. The story and characters were good. The erotic scenes were better than good. I think I wasn’t emotionally pulled in as much as I would like. But it was still good, especially if you’re looking for erotic romance. Sex acts include men with men, ménage with 2 men and 1 woman, rear door activity, light bondage and spanking.

He hides his eagerness to be with her. For example, when she knocks at the door he counts to ten before answering it. She is like a puppy, eager to please and compliant. He starts out teaching her ways to please a man. But he also pleases her. He tells her this is a temporary relationship and must be kept a secret.
AJ is a student in Colorado. She came to Wyoming for a few weeks to help her mother who is ill. Cord is in Wyoming.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: Bossy controlling guy with sweet compliant girl. I liked the emotional development between the two. The major question and conflict is “will Cord ever be able to love again?” He has closed off his heart. The story between AJ and Cord is a simple story with some arguments and conflicts, nothing unusual or too deep. There’s a sweet feel good ending. There are some side stories with Cord’s relatives that were interesting but needed more development. I wanted to know more about Kade and Skylar, Dag, and Colt. However the purpose of the book is sex, so don’t expect a fully-developed-in-depth novel. The sex scenes are erotic and hot. There is a little bit of the Dom/sub, but not too heavy. There is group sex (3 men 1 woman), gay group sex (4 men with each other), rear door activity, light bondage, spanking, and sex toys.
