Hott Review: This book is a very difficult one to review. Even though at the end of I can say it was a good book, there were several times when I just wanted to put it down and walk away. The first half really drug for me. The writing wasn’t poor it was just that it was sad and action oriented. Very different than what I read. The romance was sweet but a bit quick and different. Take note, though, I did end up buying this book for Grandma it’s something that she’ll love.

This was the perfect read for the family. Each of us enjoyed it, were entranced, and were enriched by it in many ways. This is a must have for your shelf!!
To tell you how versatile this book was – I was reading it to my 10 yr old daughter when she was sick. My 16 yr old son overheard part of it & sat down to listen. When I couldn’t read anymore he grabbed his kindle & immediately downloaded & finished it. Yep! Don’t miss this one!!

Being a mom of teenage boys it really irked me that these girls set out to corrupt them by trying to capture their attention. However, this is a book I’ll absolutely give my daughter when I believe it’s applicable & it’s a book I’d suggest reading and then sharing with your girls – and boys – there is so much “real life” captured in these pages it’s perfect for all of us!

Start this Christmas season with this new tradition – become Santa’s pen-pal! Don’t just have your child write him letters – have your child learn what his life is like and make Santa’s visit not about the child but about the relationship!
Hott Review: This is a tremendous idea! I wish I’d had something like this for my kids – but I’m definitely getting it for my nieces & nephews. Won’t it be wonderful? Concerned that you won’t know what to write? Don’t worry – there are instructions and sample letters included to make sure Santa’s letters are sure to please!

Abby is slowly putting her life back together after deciding that she wouldn’t live with a cheating husband the way that her mother did. She had to move from the town and house that she loved, uproot her children, and leave her best friend warming the bed Abby used to sleep in. Now, with Christmas fast approaching and the kids off to visit their father on the other side of the country, Abby is looking forward to a little peace. Until her company gets a new contract and she’s whisked out of her holiday plans to help the little town of Blessing make it’s mark on the tourism map. At least, there won’t be any interesting guys there…. well, except one. Learn more at Life in Blessing
Hott Review: What I liked: A cute Christmassy romance that’s full of fun & life. What I didn’t like: There was a lot of foul language in this book that I really didn’t care for nor feel was necessary. It detracted from the book for me.

Now, her husband has disappeared – during their anniversary cruise – and the entire town of Whiskey Creek, including his parents, are blaming her for his nefarious deeds. Really?!?! Like she ever had a say in anything he did! Ted Dixon knows that Sophia’s a trophy wife, it’s been completely obvious since she dumped him to marry the richest man in Whiskey Creek, so he’s doing his best to remember that now that she’s a widow she’ll be looking for a new man.
Except someone has to protect her from the investors her husband bilked since they've decided to get their money from her one way or the other.
What I liked: A great book! I’ve been feeling bad for Sophia while reading the other books but this one just made my heart crush for her. I just wanted to go protect her. It was great to see her become a real person, learn humility, and find friendship! What I didn’t like: Ha! I just love Eve and she makes me sad.
Author: Brenda Novak Source: Harlequin MIRA via Netgalley Grade: A Ages: 18+ Steam: Adult – a bit steamy but not too descriptive. There are some snide references due to the abuse Sophia suffered during her marriage that will not be appropriate for all. Series: Whiskey Creek #5(less)

What is she supposed to tell her best client? “No, Sir, I’m not flying from California to Ireland the week before Christmas because I don’t believe you when you claim to be dying”? Sure, That’s gonna fly. But Claire definitely didn’t expect to meet Mister Christmas or to have her dreams come true… Review: I greatly enjoyed this book. It was very Christmassy & a bit thrilling even though the romance was a bit quick and fanciful for me. Author: Fern Michaels Grade: B+ Ages: 16+
The Yellow Rose of Christmas When sixty-four year maiden Velvet Tudmore begins receiving roses and notes from a secret admirer she thinks it’s a prank but as they continue she finally begins to see men as something other than worthless. Will her hopes be dashed or will her dreams come true? Review: I didn’t love this. It took a lot for me to get through the set-up of Velvet’s feelings toward men. It ended well and was well written but isn’t for one who dislikes gender discrimination. Author: Marie Bostwick Grade: B Ages: There’s no steam but I can’t honestly recommend this as it’s written.
Nightmare on Elf Street What was I thinking? Honestly! I went in for an interview as an ad exec and ended up with a job as an elf & the promise of a second interview. I had no idea what was in store for me or I never would have thought that was a good deal! Especially when Santa is found deal and I’m the elf with the motive! Review: WOW. We completely switched genres again! This set is making my head spin! ;) It was cute but sometimes difficult for me to follow. Author: Laura Levine Grade: C Ages: 15+
Room at the Inn Socialite Barbara Stanowski is stuck in a rural cabin in the middle of nowhere in the midst of a blizzard with her husband, Jimmy and a few others and realizing that maybe her life isn’t as full as she’d always thought. Review: This was absolutely my favorite of all of the novellas. It’s less of a romance and more a women’s fiction but it was so very real & just a perfect ending. Side note: In this they participate in the tradition of Las Posadas. (“Las Posadas is a procession that takes place for the nine nights before Christmas, ending on Christmas Eve,” Elena said. “It is done in memory of the holy family’s journey to Jerusalem, and their search for a place for Mary to give birth to Jesus. The procession goes from house to house in the neighborhood, singing and praying. At each door they ask for shelter, but are turned away. At the last house, they’re welcomed in for more songs and praying and food and fellowship.”) To me this is one of the most special traditions & I’d love to be a part of it one day!

David cant believe he didn’t make the team! What were they thinking? Oh, it would have been nice if they’d given him a good reason – like, your jump shot needs work – but no, he didn’t make the team because he’s too small. David tried to give up on basketball, he really did, but it called to him. So again he’s on the court pretending he’s something and wishing he was a part of the team. But this time others show up. Others who should have made the team. Others who love the game like David does. If only they could make their own team… Hott Review:
I LOVED this book! It was terrific. It was written so that middle-graders will love it – as well as their moms ;) – and want to read the entire series. It’s not just about basketball. It’s about believing in yourself. It’s about real friends. It’s about teamwork. It’s about growing up. I can’t wait to read more in this series!!

He must be if he’s stepping into a fight that the superficial Genevieve Beaumont just started. Sure, he agrees that “The Little Drummer Boy” has no place in The Speckled Lizard but a girl fight over it? So not worth it! There must be something wrong with him – besides his obvious missing parts – that causes Dylan Caine to take up for the underdog. Boy, he’s going to need an attorney to get him out of this mess!
Hott Review: What I liked: I loved this book! Though it’s not at all as the synopsis makes it sound. This book is about a superficial girl finding out that maybe there is more to herself than she ever thought possible. It was tremendously endearing & re-readable! What I didn’t like: There were times when the book was a bit confusing because it was pulling characters and events from the rest of the series and was a bit overwhelming.
