I don't know what I expected..If I hadn't bought both books on the same time because I saw all the good reviews on it, I would have saved the money.
My main issue are the rapes (are all women automatically whores after being raped?), the poor characters (I wouldn't cry even if they all got ripped to pieces and the corelings won over mankind), especially the weak women (why not kill your raping father in the night, throw him to the corelings and live ever happy with your love?) and the ever long Jardir section in the beginning of the book (he is still an asshole, even if he got raped by his bodyguard).
I'm going to read something good as soon as possible before the thought of this book has raped and for ever scarred my love for reading....more
3,5 star. I liked the book. The story is really good and believable. About how we forgot how to ward (protect) our self against demons that rise from t3,5 star. I liked the book. The story is really good and believable. About how we forgot how to ward (protect) our self against demons that rise from the core every night. We focused on science after we beat the demons in the first demon war and forgot the magic. The the book is set in the future some time after that, where demons once again have surfaced, feeding every night on the rapidly decreasing human race. Around the little world set in the book, heroes begin to rise amongst the humans in farm towns and cities to once again fight the corelings no one have dared fight since the first war. Loved the story, loved the magic wards and the monsters.
I have some drawbacks (hence one star missing) though. This is an debut book, and it shows. Some of the description fails and some acts in the book have to little description, leaving me with little to hold on to when I read. Suddenly they where fighting, suddenly they where on they way to the hospital. With no description of how the dead man got hurt. It felt rushed. I would also have liked to learn more about Arlen, maybe followed him even more in his younger years. Anything. I had no time to connect to the character and at the end of the book, I felt like I did not know him at all. Big drawback. One other thing that annoyed me so that I was ripping my hair when I read was Leesha's endless crying, whimpering and teary eyes. She was much too weak for my taste and seemed like she was on her period all the time with her ever present mood swings.
Overall a good purchase. I enjoyed the book (even if I pulled out some hair) and that's enough for me. But I would have liked more gore though;) ...more

This is the fantasy book I have been searching for! This is (dare I say) a classic with a twist. It got the 3 D's Dragon, Demons and Damn much action.
I started with this book, already pumped up to read it. I had waited 1 MONTH to get it from USA and it's a long time waiting for a treasure like this. It's so much bigger than I imaged too, 661 pages are a lot in a book (and I wished it was more)!
I will not say anything that happens in the book, since I assume you have read the plot. I hate even the slight spoilers myself and I reassure you will no be any of that in this little review. BUT I will say that I cried with the character, I laughed out load (disturbing the people around me), I got dip furrows in my forehead, I tightnd my fists, I smiled AND cried.
Short said, I was into it.
I'm sure someone will have only one or two stars to give it, it always is that someone(s) that didn't like it. When it comes to books like this, I don't understand why.
So if you are, like I was, reading trough the reviews and wondering should I buy this book? I say YES, YES, YES! ...more
I don't know how many times I smacked the book closed and hurled it at the table so annoyed by the main character (wanderer) or some other charactersI don't know how many times I smacked the book closed and hurled it at the table so annoyed by the main character (wanderer) or some other characters in the book. I REALLY didn't like them. But I don't stop reading a book easy so, stubborn as I'am I continue reading.
The idea of the story is good. The message the story delivers is good.
I just didn't like the way it was executed, it was so easy to read and it DID remind me of "Twilight" in the writing and the love story. The end felt pushed and the triangle love story or whatever took a bit off for my taste. It doesn't have to be all "My skin burned where he had touched me. I was so in love and I can't tell him..blabla" I liked the love story at the beginning when it had a meaning, but after a while it got tiresome.
But I have given it 3 stars, so the story wasn't the worst I have read. I was a bit harsher with this book than the Twilight Saga cuz I expect more when it is supposed to be a adult book. ...more
