The way he tackles controversial topics with ease and clarity is a gift from God. I also enjoyed how he develops stories into realities, therefore it is interesting to see his viewpoints concerning trivial and tough topics of what it means to live out authentic Christianity Additionally I watched many videos of him answering questions from the fans, always showing love without ever being evasive. Now unto the review told with brilliance and accuracy.
The beginning of this book is what pulled me in. I liked how he first defined Who is God? That fundamental question often gets overlooked in Christian books but he clearly defined who is the one that some question his existence? Then he preceded to go into the nature of his being, lastly he talked about the misconceptions about prayer and the perception of God. There were many highlights about this book that stood out to me, but the main thing was when he said humans tried to minimize God into their views, rather than the other way around. In other words, they stopped believing in God cause of who they want him to be and not who he wants them to be. Furthermore, he talked about the benevolent God who desires to have a relationship with his creation.
I read a previous book by Zacharias, however this one was much better than the last one. Ravi is one to watch, he is so honest and loving to people of different religions and doctrines. I am glad that is the last book I read this year.
This was an excellent book for church goers or the non religious ones....more

Andrew Farley is one of my favorite preachers, the way he teaches is a gift from God, He practically breaks down the Gospel in baby steps that you can understand. The way he explains difficult passages of the Bible while still managing to keep the context is amazing and well done. I have been following his ministry for about a year now, he never disappoints me when I watch his sermons;learning something new everyday is remarkable and I really do plan on hearing him preach live. I believe the message he preaches is the only Gospel that will save, there is no other Gospel but Jesus plus nothing! Now let's get started on the review!
First and foremost, I absolutely love how this story was written. It is rare for authors, particularly Christian authors to write in a way that pulls the reader in. Most of them try to use big vocabulary words that takes away the essence of the book and they overdo scriptures that take away the quality of the book. However this book started of with his vivid testimony about how he encountered Grace. From him upbringing, college life and his frustration of trying to live the Christian life. I was captivated in the initial pages,it reminded me a lot of myself, thus I appreciate how honest and vulnerable he was telling the story. Also I love how the chapters was broken down into parts, that really made the book an easy read. If there is one MAIN thing I loved ( hard one!), it will be the chapter about the will of God. It spoke to me directly cause years I was questioning if I was in the will of God and when he explained how God gave us the freedom of choosing was life changing!
The reward chapter was good as well, many Christians have a flawed perception on that. I personally agree with his stance, I don't believe there is going to be different rewards based on our good behavior. Otherwise we would be boasting about what we can do for God, except it being out of Grace and not works. He tackled tough scriptures but he did it with clarity and ease.
This has become of my favorite books, it is so readable, truly this is the Gospel, all others are a counterfeit!...more

At first I thought that the title was a contradiction but after watching it, I noticed that my views lined up with his. This book explicitly stated that it is Jesus plus nothing, no rules or behaviors to adhere too. It is simply Jesus living his right through you, I can relate to his vivid testimonies on how I got burned out by religion. All I heard growing up was "do more to get more." "Do good and God will bless you." "If you don't do this, then God won't do that." I was never convinced that there was a loving God that was not counting my sins against me. Neither was there a God that was reminding me of my sin and my broken promises to stay faithful.
Jeff states that it is not your works that matter but His. It is not your efforts to please God but it is the fact that God is pleased with Jesus and He is pleased with you. The love of God transforms your heart, not the god of religion with a bunch of rules to live by. Not the one that tells you that He is running out of chances to give you. Additionally, his testimonies about how God revealed Grace to him was amazing. Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, that saved me a wretch like me; I once was blind but now I see!
Kudos to Jeff for writing a controversial, poignant and relevant book about the Grace of God. Religion will put in bondage but the good news of the gospel will set you free!!

However this book not only exceeded my expectations but it convinced me of my unbelief. There are many examples in this book that was so relatable to me, I had to pause & wonder if I was a Christian atheist. The main thing that struck out was how candid and precise this book was on how Christians are. Many of us don't believe in the power of prayer, worry a lot, don't share our faith and so many other things. It just amazed me that this book provided great examples on how we are as a whole. I felt that the author was very sincere in his approach to the book.
I will recommend this book to any Christian, whether you are a new believer or not. It really highlighted the misconceptions about Christians and made you question your own belief....more

It is not because I dislike them or I found them unnecessary but most of them follow the same format. There are many books that are full of cliches and the content is not saying anything that I have not heard before. It is rare for me to really enjoy one, but there are a few exceptions. However I do look for titles that catches my eye, that is a sure way to grab my attention. For instance take this for example, the title is what made me want to read it but I felt slightly disappointed after finishing it.
The positive portion about this book is that it is calling Christians to "GET OUT AND DO SOMETHING!." It calls out the laziness in the church how we always want people to come, instead of going out and getting the people. I applauded that aspect of the book, there are far too many churches that want the world to come to them and not the other way around. Also I love the transparency and how the author used examples from his personal life. The scriptures went along with what he was saying, it really struck a cord with me.
On the other hand, the second half of the book seemed rather predictable. The author expounded on his reasons for writing the book and that lost me. Granted it is not a bad thing to explain why you wrote the book but I think the readers should draw their own opinion. Maybe I am being extra picky but nevertheless,it had valid points but also flaws....more

It was not your typical book with full of cliches and assumptions about what the Bible says but it was very relevant to what is going on in society. I learned a lot about inheritance, the misconceptions about money and why God wants us to live an abundant life. There were certain controversial topics that he talked about, he provided great insight without disputing over it. Although this book was nowhere near fantastic, I learned a lot about how to deal with money and how to be content in whatever state I am in.
I look forward to reading more novels by him, love his writing style and his unbiased views on things.

Although the author provided great examples on how to pray bold prayers,I thought this was a decent read but not nearly as captivating as I thought. Although the author provided great examples on how to pray bold prayers, it was not anything that I did not hear before. In fact, a lot of the things I read was basically rehearsed from other authors. However I did like how the author used scripture references to verify his point. I don't think it was worth the hype it received though, it was satisfactory to say the least....more

It was not so much controversial in terms of disputes but it raises a lot of questions in the modern church. I was taught that Jesus was a mere man and not the religious figure that we hold Him up too. Also this book explained the humanity of Jesus, and his divinity. Although he was God incarnate, He was also a man that experienced the trials that Christians go through in their daily life.
Solid book with good teachings that will lead believers surprised and unbelievers shocked.
