Why you must read A Gentleman in the Street by Alisha Rai: a. Heroine is a billionaire, a rare occupation for any women in Romancelandia (queens, princesses and goddesses don't count) b. Hero is an author and mix of alpha and beta hero. Also have lumberjack physique appearance c. Interracial love. Diverse characters for the win! d. Step sibling love if you like that kind of story. But not ordinary step sibling love of course e. Mandy and Tori, ladies from Smexy Books, my favorite romance blog read and love this. And I always believe their review and ratings f. Seriously guys, just read this!!
Like I had stated earlier in my status, Romancelandia need more billionaire women that can balance their strength and their hearts. I'm a little bit surprised why so many authors choose to write CEO and billionaire men, while in reality there are so many succesful businesswomen out there?
I praise Ms Rai because she can write about a hero and heroine that balanced each other. Jacob might be just an author, even he's a best seller author, his money and status of course lower than his step sister. But, he didn't cower in front of Akira's rich and debauchery life. A nice change for the overused theme of billionaire, and I hope that A Gentleman in Street will be a start for romance that feature strong, succesfull and confident with her sexuality heroines, never ashamed with what she is.
This book also give an example, that a beta hero can act as alpha too when its necessary. Jacob might be desirable if you love lumberjack kind of hero, but it's not his physique appearance that make me love him. Often I read heroes that act as alpha to the heroines that end up I laughing a lot because it's ridiculous or want to kick them in their ass for their "I'm Tarzan, hear me roar!!". Not with Jacob. He act as asshole at first, but he changes and even until the end, he act as an adult he was. He balance his softer and rough side, and that what make him perfect for Akira. Since Akira is so full of doubt and think that she didn't deserve love. He embrace Akira's antique, accept her for what she is and teach her that she capable of love
I like Akira, and her devensiveness toward Jacob, with constantly taunt him sexually are understable. Sure she somehow seems like a child and the drama plus angst can be over the top. But, if we see her fucked up past, readers will sympathize with her.
It had been in self-defense, she assured herself. Driving people crazy was her time-honored way of dealing with those who disapproved of her. Give them exactly what they were looking for and they would never look any deeper
Lucky for Akira, she didn't going crazy have a spoiled rich father and scorned mother, both are sociopath. Her coldness and snark retort are her fortress, but I'm glad that in the end she, like Jacob, can balance both her sides and make amends with her past.
A Gentleman in the Street also one of dirty book (Akira is shameless afterall. And Jacob's fantasies about her is so raunchy!) I'd read this year. A warning first, this have voyeurism, menage, a little f/f and mild BDSM. But, despite the hot level, I can feel the tenderness between Akira and Jacob. When they don't busy bantering with each other, therefore make their sexual tension rocketed up, their cozy moments also make my heart melts.
Oh, also I really love the family theme that Ms Rai feature in a Gentleman in the Street. I love the dynamic between Campbell's family, especially from Jacob's younger siblings. I also praise that Ms Rai don't sugarcoated Akira's relationship with her scorned mother. Make it more real and also show that not all parents love their children dearly, but on the bright side, she also input her insight that people choose their own family. And Akira choose Jacob.
I think everyone who love a good and hot romance should read this book. And yeah, the reverse thing between the hero and heroine is very fresh. Because I'm so tired to read an alpha CEO hero "deflower" a naive or virgin librarian or secretary or something like that heroine :p.

The Extraordinary Life of Lara Craft (with A) is indeed an extraordinary book. A kind of parody and comedy version of Eat, Prey, Love written b3 stars
The Extraordinary Life of Lara Craft (with A) is indeed an extraordinary book. A kind of parody and comedy version of Eat, Prey, Love written by duo Becky Wicks and Sarah Alderson under pen name "Lola Salt". Even their pen name is make me snort *heh*. Lara, often mistakenly as mix of Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox and Lana Del Rey, just have a shitty day, fired and break up from her recent boyfriend. She then offered a job in Calibre Concierge from her childhood friend, Jamie, to deliver a package. Seems easy at first, to deliver a package and travel around the world. What a girl can ask for?
Turn that Lara will have extraordinary and raunchy world trips. Start from deflower a virgin and religious cowboy at Australia, have a threesome with Twihard wannabe that think himself as Edward Cullen and his junkies friend at Los Angeles. Then, must act as caught in a fragrante delicto with a gay Arab prince in order to save say prince from his brother in Dubai, discovered fraud cult that used sex in Bali, and last, kidnapped by pirates on Somalia just because the bandits mistake her with the real Angelina Jolie.
Even this book have some erotic vibe, all are written in subtle way but still intended for adults. I think that the part of the around the world trips come from Becky Wicks, and quite surprised that Sarah Alderson who is a YA adult write adult book. Some humor in this book and Lara's personality make me snort, gigle and laugh, even some can be over the top. So many pop culture and celebrity names throw here and there and sometimes it can be so annoying to read. I like "why all people (especially guys) that Lara encounter always have a resemblance with some famous actors?"
TBH, if readers set aside the sillines, I think that they will enjoy this story. Lara is hilarious, funny and so confident with her sexuality. I like the part when she go to Australia and my favorite is when she is on Dubai. Alas, the part in Bali is too short, imo. I would love to like how the author portray Bali, since I'm Indonesian and I know that Alderson also live at Bali. What bother me maybe when an Indonesian receptionist called Lara with "Ibu", then alter it with "ma'am". I don't know what Balinese used to called foreign, but usually we will used "Ms", or "ma'am". And if they used "Ibu", we sometimes shorten it to "Bu". Well, this is just technical writing but still make me a little bit annoyed.
Of course this is a fiction, so I will said that don't take this one seriously. Some parts also wrongly written such as in Australia, there's no cowboy term, then the writing of Muslim prayer that the Dubai Prince said (since I'm Muslim too), even I'm not shocked when read about their "antics", and many other. If you want a comedy and light read, prepare yourself to enjoy Lara Craft's life that indeed... extraordinary.

Because there's nothing new under the sun.
Cooking was a bet on the future, on shared moments with family, friends, a lover. Sarah cooked to carve time now, and in the future,4 BLAZING STARS!!
Cooking was a bet on the future, on shared moments with family, friends, a lover. Sarah cooked to carve time now, and in the future, to make secret shared moments. It was different from bringing over takeout, too. Cooking mean you thought about the food and the person more than dialing a phone number and handing over a credit card. Takeout had its place, but cooking... cooking built a future, one meal at a time
Afternoon Delight gave me so many FEELZ, and like the title, read this indeed is a delight for me :). Whether you read erotica or not, Afternoon Delight is a must if you love contemporary romance, but far from the same old same old trend right now.
A strong, witty, far from TSTL, confident with her sexuality, also a fabulous chef heroine? Check! You will love Sarah, a cook for Symbowl, food truck that delivered soup for your lunch pleasurement. I want to have BFF like her!
A hunky man with beard, paramedic with balls-to-the-wall lifestyle that have commitment issue, afraid to the future, act as jerk near the end, but surprisely, not that kind of ANNOYING JERK hero? Check! Tim will melt your heart (and maybe panties, lol!) with his dedication and gentleman-like attitude to Sarah. Yes, he's somehow hurt Sarah feeling, but it just a litlleeee bit. I really, love love love how he make amends to Sarah! :D
Steamy sex scenes that make you fan yourself and insta lust, but surprisely, not your common sex with benefit, no string attached relationship that feel not like same old, same old trope? Check! . I raised my brow when Sarah and Tim go to Tim's house and they already have sex. BUT, even it kinda insta-lust, there was no question that Ms Calhoun write a HOT SEX SCENE EVER! Sarah sensuality and confident nature make the sex very hot, titillating and exciting in the same time. Tired with all that angst-driven sex scene? Ms Calhoun will deliver you how a sex scene between two adults done well!
And a story that feel so slow, but make you savor it words, it moment after moment, a building romance between h/H, Sarah and Tim. Complete with description of food and deserts that will satisfy your bud. And a glimpse into the Big Apple City. Nuff' said, I thought. ;)
I guess, I will check Anne Calhoun other works. And if you had read hers before, why wait any longer to read this one?

My Indonesian review posted here:
This is astounding, amazing, so incredibly thrilling. Only today a world travelling cabaret performing drag queen took me out for lunch and named me as his new best friend. The idea plunges my black and white world into a vibrant techni-colour rainbow
My Goodreads friends..lemme ask you somethin'...
Why are you not rec'd Painted Faces to me? :((
Alright,I know Painted Faces from a year ago when see that my GR friends gushing about this one. Their reviews so far are stellar, even there are some that think Painted Faces just okay. I'm myself was not in the mood that time. A drag queen as hero? Umm, weird. Also the NA thingie not appealed for me too. But this year I dip my toe into NA world. Some I like, some don't. One of the factor because I don't like angst, and I know that Painted Faces will have so many angst. Yet, I'm still want to try.
And glad that I did try.
Painted Faces is... a sigh-worthy book. Unusual but still beautiful love story between Nicholas Turner aka Miss Vivica Blue with the full sarcasm Freda Wilson. Their story make my heart ache and yearning. Funny that I usually avoid angst and drama like a plague. Yet, all the angst in Painted Faces gives me so many FEELZ.
I want to hug Nicholas aka Miss Vivica Blue, like Freda did. I didn't like manwhore character, but Nicholas..ahh, he did have his reason with his playboy lifestyle, and I can totally understand him. His dirty talk make me squirm, his tender heart make my heart melt, his mischief and almost childlike attitude make me smile and sometimes laugh, his harsh act to Freda because he can't accept what Freda give make me sad, and finally his redemption make me love him. He's such a complex characters. Like his painted faces, he hide his ugly past inside a strong wall and plastered fake smile while inside his heart is bleeding. Freda change all that, make him a better person in the end.
"Why did you say you didn't care about me?"
His arms tighten around my stomach and he takes me silently for a time. "Sometimes we're cruellest to the one we care about the most
Freda..now this is a girl that I want to be BFF with. She resemble me too much with her low self-esteem, her curvaceous body and her smart mouth. How can I despise here when she sometimes make a smart retort but bordering stereotype-cast, because I can see myself act exactly like her. She has so many flaws, yes. And while I'm usually irritated reading Freda's archetype in another book, surprisely I'm not now.
I aggree that L.H. Cosway have a way with words and story. Painted Faces full of cliches, I told you. But, she can make those cliches not to be same old same old. She make this book shining and unique compared to others, make me put aside the glaring tropes that seems obvious. I also love a fact that she used Dublin as the setting, and explain about the culture and people of her city through Freda's POV (even sometimes she can be too TMI). I always want to go to Dublin!.
L.H.Cosway is an author that can't be missed and if Painted Faces optioned into movie, I would love to watch it! I can totally see Lee Pace play as Nicholas/Vivica. His face is pretty, he once act as transgender and drag queen. Also his face kinda have mellow vibe but can switch to scoundrel. This book is very movie material and of course I want people to know more a beauty that is Painted Faces :)
He asks me what made him behave that way, using words he never says?
He can only think it must be love...
He asks me to kiss him like it's the final meal, kiss him like we'll die toninght...
He says that holy cow he loves my eyes...
That only now he sees the light...
He says to throw the curtains wide, that one day like this a year will see him right... ...more
Way, waaay better than the predecessor, Rock Addiction! This is Nalini Singh that I'm familiar with :D. Yeah, there are some cliches too, but3.5 stars
Way, waaay better than the predecessor, Rock Addiction! This is Nalini Singh that I'm familiar with :D. Yeah, there are some cliches too, but not too much like RA. And I can relate to Thea (heh, we shared the same heritage :p, even I'm a Javanese rather than Balinese) and David, whom in my opinion is better than Fox :)
Really love the memos! :D. I love this kind of courtship and yea, one of Nalini Singh signature in her story is the hero slowly woo the heroine which imho, romantic! It's also make a relationship between Thea and David is not too rushed and forced. I can enjoy their sexy times more than the first, lol! XD
If you have a not-too-good experience with Rock Addiction (like me, ehm), I suggest you to not miss this one. Believe me, this novella is different. You will like Thea with her strong willed and witty personality, but she also has a kind heart and can be fragile. Thea remind me so much with Adria from Tangle in Need and I can't help myself to hug her when she feel down. And David, wow, he's so cute and endearing. He really earn his "Gentleman of Rock" title, because even he can be so hot in bed and playing dirty, he also a gentleman. True to his word, act and love to Thea.
Rock Kiss series might be not spectacular as Psy Changeling and Guild Hunter, but Rock Courtship make me believe again to Nalini to again deliver a beautifully written and sexy love story :D.

Don't let the cover deceive you, for Ivy Entwined not a romantic suspense, paranormal, or even erotic romance! This book is a contemporer rom 4 stars
Don't let the cover deceive you, for Ivy Entwined not a romantic suspense, paranormal, or even erotic romance! This book is a contemporer romance that set in small city, called Celebration (don't know if it exist) and a mix of drama, humor, a little bit angst and a tight community who know each other. Ivy Entwined is a story about Ivy Callahana, the mayor of Celebrate even she still 26 y.o. Now you wonder why a woman so young like Ivy become Mayor and I never see a mayor that in her/his twenties. But well, I'm not live in USA and this is just a fiction, so I will take it. Ivy replace the last major, her father, and now have a plenty of problem in her hand because Celebration need a fresh start from being an almost abandoned city.
Enter Marcus Weaver who are big franchise localist and he want to build Megamart on Celebration even he know the citizens will objects him. Ivy of course decline Marcus's proposal, even Marcus is her teenager's crush. But she offer Marcus to sponsor for the downtown renewal and they become close. Yet, Marcus still insist to build the Megamart, knowing the risk that he will lose Ivy's heart.
Both Ivy and Marcus are lovable characters and I like that I can feel their chemistry. Ivy sure is perfectionist but she has a vulnerable side especially with all problems that become her burden, some are from her annoying ex-fiance (who sometimes can be a comic relief). Marcus is alpha, but not too alpha, and like a fact that he doesn't hesitant to use his charm to won Ivy's heart. He's man of my heart! But, the winner is Ivy's family, the Callahans. Ivy is lucky to have a supportive family, from her own father, than her mother Delia, and last, a granny that I'm sure will won "grandmother's favorite award" if there's any. Colleen like to cuss', even she's so old, but she's so funny and wise. I really want to have granny like her, and I like a fact that family play a large role in this book.
I got the arc of this book July ago and realize that this title just had re-released. While the old cover is silly and have a badcase photoshop, I prefer the old because it's catch the atmosphere of Ivy Entwined. The new cover look too mysterius, too sexy and can be misleading.
Ivy Entwined is simple and perfect if you want to read a light romance story. Also, if you love romance that set in small city, you will love the dynamic that Celebration citizens have.

Dear Nalini, what happen to you to suddenly write a New Adult title that have gazillion cliches, a very immature and unbel1,5 stars
Dear Nalini, what happen to you to suddenly write a New Adult title that have gazillion cliches, a very immature and unbelivable heroine (at first. Oh,give me ELENA DEVERAUX PLEASEEE!!!) and.. too much sex?? Don't get me wrong, I'm no prude. I love erotica but the sex in Rock Addiction is too much! :(
I'm so sad when writing this review. Mind you, I'm a NALINI BIGGEST FAN! I adore her Psy Changeling series. I eat up all of her Guild Hunter books, especially books that feature Elena and Raphael. I can show you the spine from some of my Guild Hunter books that already broken, a sign for books that well-read and well-loved. Heck, even her Harlequin titles are so good. That's why I have HIGH expectation when knowing that she write about contemporer romance and it featured rock star, one of my favorite trope. I admit that I'm a little bit wary when my friend,Ami (who I trust her opinion and review) DNF'd this, but she said that maybe I'll enjoy this one.
I'm not :(.
This book open by a biggest cliche in romancelandia. A virgin librarian (heck!). Then, she named Molly (double heck!! I have issue with "Molly" name apparently). She attracted to Zachary Fox, and then decide to lose her virginity (oh,my heck!!!) to the rock god. And guess what? She didn't feel pain. Zilch, Zing, Zero, Nada, Nay. (heck, heck, heeeeeck!!!). This is a cliche that honestly, I hated it so much. I know it's just a fiction and mean for an escapism, but at last please give us some reality! :(
After that...it just camaderies of sex between Fox and Molly. Knowing Nalini, I'm grateful that her beautiful proses still there, a thing that make me love her books in the first place. But the amount of sex is grated my nerves. I swore that each chapter have Fox and Molly having sex. Rock Addiction tagline might be "SEX, FIGHT, REPEAT. SEX, FIGHT, REPEAT" . Yeah, because when they are not busy banging each other, they shout to each other about their "pitiful" past and their "demons". Oh, my. -__-"
I give Rock Addiction 1,5 stars, beside both h/H that I can't connect with (even Fox have Nalini's hero trademark and I'm a little bit grateful of that), overused cliches and too much sex scene, I like the friendship between Molly and Charlotte, and later with Katherine, Fox's close friend. I'm more interested to Thea (she's part of Indonesia, yes!) and David's and can't wait to read their story in Rock Courtship. I'm intrigued with Kit and Noah, and want to know who's Abe's ladylove. Beside Abe also so fucked up like his bandmate and I want to see a woman that will heal his wounds. The last part of this book become its saviour even I'm still not satisfied with the result. IMHO, Rock Addiction better work as novella rather than full-length, because I feel that Nalini seems like prolong the story (I skimmed for some part!) and the plot is actually pretty simple.
Nalini also didn't hesitant to show the harsh side of celebrity world, the unwanted attention that Molly will get after her relationship with Fox revealed and those part that I like beside her beautiful writing style (gah, I mention this again, right? But I like her words!). I can see that Molly's jealousy because Fox surrounded by many sexy women is a real thing and it's understable. But what I don't like is how she and Fox work their difference by sex. Fox also too much alpha-macho with "you are MINE" throws here and there. Sure he's better than Molly, and his characterization actually not too different from another Nalini's heroes. It's just, yeah, I can't connect with them :(.
This is not the first time Nalini write New Adult, if we see from the age of the character and their problem. She already did it with Sienna Laurens from Kiss of Snow and Sahara Kyriakus from Heart of Obsidian. Both are still in their twenties, but they are so different of course from Molly. I know, I know, it's unfair to compare them, because the genre is different. But if Nalini think that New Adult and rock star romance must have tons of angst, drama, cliches, and sex,ummm.. no. Just no :(.
Oh...well. Me and Rock Addiction have a "rocky" relationship and it's sadden me that I can't enjoy this one. Maybe I will stick to her Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter. If you new to Nalini's books, I suggest you to read those series. They're good. They're GREAT. And they will ROCK your world. Better than Rock Addiction.
Addendum: I read the e-ARC version, and I know that this is ARC, not final version. But, the formatting in the epub file I receive from NetGalley is drive me nuts! No extra space when the POV change from Fox and Molly make me difficult to understand their story, so it kinda affect my rating too.

Well.. Even Owning Her Innocence maybe so much more like those "daddy-little girl porn theme"books out there, surprisely there was a plot. An actual plot and a little character development. Ms Riley didn't kidding when she said she want to write a different daddy book and I think she did it well.
The dual POV make the story work, and I like William POV, maybe because he's already mature (my give and take, he is in his 40-ish), while Haley is annoying, whiny and sometimes I imagine her as my own sister because both are 18 years old. Make me have an SUPER AWKWARD moment when read this novelette, because..imagine your own sister that still like a little baby for you to had sex with man that twice her age *shudder*. I just hope that Ms Riley write Haley older, maybe 21 years old more, not 18 years old. Even I know that 18 is legal in USA (and also in my country), but still...
So many sexual tension, spanking (just a little),bonding (just a middle level), a deflowered sex scene (bwahahaha I really said it X)) ) and lot of dirty talk. Daddy smut book not my kind of erotica (insert awkward moment here when you call man you have sex with as "daddy"), but I will recommend this if you love that kind of smut....more
Per months, InterMix usually make some of their title free to request on NetGalley, and when I see Risky Busi4 stars
Review in Indonesian posted here:
Per months, InterMix usually make some of their title free to request on NetGalley, and when I see Risky Business (and drooling a bit), I don't hesitant to request it. Sport romance is not my forte. Honestly, I RARELY read sport romance. And contemporary romance too, but heh, I willing to try and broad my genres.
After reading Dark Skye that make me have a book hangover, I pick this title because, my, I must review this! I think that this book will be mediocre at first and surprised that in the end I really like it! I love both h/H Allison and Theo, and I think the star of this book is Allison. First, she is so naive, just want to become a devoted house wife. But when her world crumbling, she decide to chin up. Become a single mother with a big fear of water is not easy, but Allison somehow make it. I like that she is a warrior, of her own way and her development, imo, is satisfying.
There's no insta love between Theo and Allison, and like their dynamics. Yes, Theo at first is jerk, too much brooding, to much wallowing in his self pity. Yet, when I know his injury, even he's not lost any limb, his traumatic brain injury make he feel incapable to function. His struggle to maintain Cloud Nine, a boat business he loved above each other is apparent and make readers will sympathize with him. What I love more is, so many sexual tension and when both Allison and Theo have sex, it's sooo sweet. No forced chemistry, no rush. Just the way I like it in my romancelandia
But, Risky Businees maybe will make ice hockey fans disappointed, because the sport is more like a background. Actually, I don't bother with the lack of sport, for the story about wounded veteran and the small town setting is enough to quench my thirst for a good romance. Because Destiny Falls is a small town, people know each other. The secondary character like the Bomb Squad member and the women who become Allison's friend are lovable and not just into background. They give interesting development to the story. The Bomb Squad member love Allison, in a friendly and family way, remind me of KGB series by Maya Banks. I also like Chelsea, Allison's sister, despite her reckless attitude, she give a best advice ever.
I will recommend Risky Business to any contemporary romance fans with a sprinkle of ice hockey sports, a hot and brooding hero (with a homage to any heroes who use glasses. Glasses heroes are HOT!!) and strong heroine. So intrigue to read the next installment of Bomb Squad series!

To sum it up, this book is boring. Might be the most boring book I read this year with characters that act like a bunch of teenager, can't feel1 stars
To sum it up, this book is boring. Might be the most boring book I read this year with characters that act like a bunch of teenager, can't feel the chemistry between h/H and boring story. I also skip some parts, because it's make me yawn.
Molly (can't take a heroine seriously with that name. Always remind me of Molly Weasley from Harry Potter *shudder*) is a boring heroine, too much have "snow queen" archetype, try so hard to be "good girl gone bad", have a backbone in the first chapter, but back to her doormat state after that. Her relationship with the hero, Beaugrad "Cash" Campbel, imo, feel forced. Their sex also left me cold, since I can't connect to them both. The angst and drama make me rolling my eyes. I will not said that this one is erotica, just steamy. Have a word such as pussy, slut, whore, etc didn't mean your story will be labeled as erotica. I expect scorching hot sex scenes, together with a believable chemistry and a blistering sexual tension, alas, Ms Green failed in this.
One character that make me pissed off is Arden, Molly's friend that addicted to gambling and it's her fault in the first place because she offer Molly as part of her debt after she lose to Cash in the game. Yeah, such a friend Molly has. Good thing she have Sofie, another friend. Even Sofie sometimes act too much like a mother hen, she also the character that I can relate and liked.
This is the first time I read Ms Green's book and I'm very sad that I can't enjoy Rough and Tumble.

Healing Her Heart is the start of what I assume a new series by Audra North, called Stanton Family. This is also the first time I try her book and well, I like her voice.
I rarely reading about medical romance, and the first medical novel I read was Demonica series. And it's paranormal, so some part can be considered as not real. As for Healing Her Heart, it's relate with our daily lives. I once want to be a doctor, but I chicken out in Biology class and so, I bury my dream to be a doctor. But, I have many friends that are doctors, and it's always fascinating to see their life and some facts about them that surprised me.
What happen to Greg Stanton, a cardiac surgeon can happen to anyone, and it's very humane. If I'm in his shoes, I'm not sure I can't handle the pressure. While I like Carrie (you know, when I read this, I always hummed "Carrie" song and imagine Chloe Moretz in her Carrie remake, lol!), sometimes she's too hard to herself. Her hurt and heart wound was too deep, and I can't blame her. I know that women can hold a grudge for a long time (yeah, I know it!), so it's normal that she think Greg just used her to calm his mind. Ms North handle their situation with a grace and make this novella is a satisfying read for me. I also love Greg and Carrie interaction with New Beginnings residents. So warm, full of laugh and also some wise advice about life.
There was a hint for another member of Stanton family, like Greg's sister Lily and her beau, Bruno. If Lily's have her own story, I don't know if her significant other will be Bruno. I think Bruno's name is.. a little bit weird for hero name (no offense for anyone with name "Bruno").
If you love your contemporer romance steamy and need a quick read, Healing Her Heart is a perfect choice. Also this give you a first glimpse into the new series by Ms North. And well, I can't wait to read the first novel of Stanton Family!

My review also posted there:
“See, Drew, there are three kinds of males in this world: boys, guys, and men. Boys—like Billy—never grow up, never get serious. They only care about themselves, their music, their cars. Guys—like you—are all about numbers and variety. Like an assembly line, it’s just one one-night stand after another. Then there are men—like Matthew. They’re not perfect, but they appreciate women for more than their flexibility and mouth suction.”

a. How to be a Douchebag (with step-by-step) by Drew Evans b. (I know)HOW MEN thinking by Emma Chase c. The Downfall of the Drew McPussyWhipped Evans by... (fill the blanks)
I always have a bad luck with a very popular book. I think that what make me hated by some people because I dislike the book they loved (mwahahaha #evillaugh). So, I have a doubt when so many Goodreads friend appraise Tangled. I'm afraid that I will be the minority here. But, hey, I'm not the one who judge book before read it (except for some special case. Like, when the author show bad demeanor, plagiarism issue, etc). So, I brace myself and start reading Tangled.
The first part of this book make my hackles rise and I almost DNF. But since this is part of buddy read with SPANK CLUB (don't ask :)). We are a pretty cool club actually), I decide to read it until the end. And well, half the last part is good and make me laugh :). I know now why so many readers love this even Drew McPussyWhipped is a douchebag. At last he admit that he's DOUCHEBAG, and I give him credit for that.
Don’t look at me like that. I’m not a bad guy. I don’t lie; I don’t sandbag women with flowery words about a future together and love at first sight. I’m a straight shooter. I’m looking for a good time—for one night—and I tell them so. That’s better than ninety percent of the other guys in here, believe me. And most of the girls in here are looking for the same thing I am.
But his personality is another matter. Sorry dude, it's because I had read so many heroes that apparently better than you (even they are have narcissitic tendency. I talk to you, Mitch Shaw and Gwenvael the handsome! XD. Don't have any idea about who they are? Check Shelly Laurenston's Pride series and G.A. Aiken's Dragon Kin series. Even maybe you are not into PNR ) and because you act as douchebag. You know that "Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Pissed-Off" right? ;D. This is some part that make me so pissed:
Like I said, I am typically an observant man. Sherlock Holmes and I,we could hang out.
Sorry Drew, Benedict Sherlock might said this to you:
Yeah, you are boooooreeeed :|. And...
So, if you think I’m arrogant? Selfish? Spoiled? You’re probably right. But don’t hold it against me. It’s not my fault. I am a product of how I was raised.
Yeah, I know you are a spoiled brat Drew. But you are almost thirty, for God's sake!! Blame your family for your own attitude is a childish demeanor!! -__-".
Where was I? Oh yeah, right. For 40-50% on this book, Drew is a mysogynist pig and a douchebag extraordinairre. I'm so disturbed about the way he saw woman he dated. Also the author voice about how men thought like she was an expert for Men. For example:
- ALL GUYS TALK TO THEIR FRIENDS ABOUT SEX. If a guy tells you he doesn’t? Dump him, because he’s lying to you.. Umm, I don't know. I think not everyone think sex is a good discussion, haha. Also, I will not dump my hubby, and I know he rarely talk about sex with his friend.
- Men pretty much have sex on the brain twenty-four-seven. The exact figure is like every 5.2 seconds or some shit like that. This sound like what some research stated actually. When I ask my boy friend, he denied it. Not sure if he's so ashamed to admit it. Same goes with my hubby, lol!
- The thing women don’t understand is that a guy can want one woman and still fuck another one. Hell, a guy could love a woman and still fuck ten others. It’s just the way it is. Sex is a release. Purely physical. That’s all. At least to men it is. . Yeah, just for you Drew. Just for you and any alphahole or alphamacho or "I'm Tarzan, You Jane" kind of guys that make me want to kick their ass ;P
- When it comes to a woman’s past, no guy wants to hear about it. I don’t care if you’ve fucked one guy or a hundred—keep it to yoursef. Talk about double standard. Why we can't boast about our adventure? Why women who sleep with so many men considered as slut, yet men who sleep with many women sometimes are considered as hero material? What make them alluring in many reader's view? Sometimes I want to know why :/
- No man wants to fuck a skeleton—and nibbling crackers and water like a prisoner of war at dinner isn’t attractive. It just makes us think about what a cranky bitch you’re going to be later on because you’re starving.. While this sound assuring for any women to not worried about what they eat, this still sound sexist :|
Newsflash, ladies: We can’t read your thoughts. And frankly, I’m not entirely sure I’d want to. The female mind is a scary place to be. Newflash to you to Drew and all guys out there. WE ALSO CAN'T READ YOUR THOUGHTS -_-". But I do agree that you all are sometimes a honest human being when it comes to feeling
And the same goes for romance novels. Alexandra practically took Steven’s head off once because he borrowed one of my Playboys. Yet every summer, there’s The Bitch laying out on the beach with her Fabio-covered soft porn. Well.. your book is for some people can be considered as porn, Drew. I smell sarcasm here XD
But there some Drew-talk that I agree with
- Men with confidence sure can win any women heart. Well, I'm agree with this! We love men with confidence.
- I need to talk to my sister. Disney is dangerous. Corrosive brainwashing bullshit, if you ask me. Don't throw anything to me XD.
- Guys love heels. We associate them with all kinds of fantastic sexual positions. If you want a man to notice you, you cannot go wrong with a pair of shiny four-inch stilettos, I swear. Hmm, maybe tonight I'll wear stilettos. Just in case...
- If a woman is angry? It means she cares. If you’re in a relationship and a chick can’t even be bothered to yell at you? You’re screwed. Indifference is a woman’s kiss of death. It’s the equivalent of a man not interested in sex. In either case—it’s over. You’re done. I'm SOOO AGREE with this! Sometimes I don't know why Hubby think my anger is worthless. I think he never see that I'm angry because I care! :(
Anyhoo, it's not that what Ms Chase wrote about Men's thought are completely wrong. I just disagree with some of them. Or maybe because Drew's voice, even he's a man, he sound like a woman to me! This is what make 1st POV somehow very complicated! If you like the MC voice, you will love the story. If not, it's hard to get into the story. Also the early banter and the quarrel between Drew and Kate is.. sooo childish! I know an author that can turn childish banter into something that make me laughing so hard (R.L. Mathewson, I bow down to you). Yet, I'm not laughing when read it. Because, yeah, childish. Much. You got the message :/
BTW, I love Kate. I think she's though and pretty badass, and we can see why:
My name is Kate—Katherine. Use it. And I’m not a kiss-ass. I don’t have to be. My work speaks for itself. My intelligence, my determination—
Although, from Drew POV, I think she somehow kinda typical. A sophomore, still fresh, younger than Drew (err, of course). And her fiance is also typical. I don't know why for some people, musician considered as loser. They bring happines to this world with their song :(. Anyhoo, for Kate, she's so determined and not playing easy to get, and this is what I like. Yes, she want Drew, but she make Drew works so hard to have her. The part when Drew pussywhipped and beg Kate to be with him are... priceless!! And this is the part that I think what make Drew redeemed for any readers. Ms Chase make us forgive the mysoginist and sexist pig Andrew Evans, and fall hard for his effort to make Kate love him back. Because, well, it's romantic. And me, a hardcore romance readers that accutely aware with this cliche, also fall to this trap. My bad XD.
Another favorite characters are Matthew and Delores. I hear that they got their own story and I can't wait to read it! Also love Alexandra the Bitch. Poor woman to have a spoiled lil' bro like Drew. She deliver the best advice ever! And my favorite thing ever is Mackenzie and her BAD WORD JAR. I want one pleaseee. :D
There's some little tidbits that somehow make me and my buddy read a little bit annoyed and amused. It is (view spoiler)[ when Drew said in the end "Edward Cullen can take his stupid heroin and OD on it. Kate is my own personal brand of Viagra. . Okay, this come from a man that said "The Notebook is so fucking gay". My friend said that a man like Drew will not likely love Twilight. I'm not sure, but, well, if Drew hate The Notebook, sure he will hate Twilight (hide spoiler)]
Also some little fact about Tangled. One of my buddy read said that Tangled is like fanfic for her, that's why she suspicious if Tangled was a fanfic before. And surprisely, yes! According to her, just 3 chapter of fanfic-soon-to-be-Tangled that Ms Chase published, then she pulled it out. Well, I don't know how 100% true it is, but the fact that Tangled was once a fanfic do not affect my rating and opinion.
The sex scenes are steamy and well, Drew have dirty mouth for sure. Glad the sex well-written and yeah, the way I like it, tbh. Can't see Colgate in the same way again :)). So many cussing words too, so Tangle is not recommended if you easily offended! :D This book is not funny, at last for me. But in the end, it become a fun read and I think I will read the next book.. that feature Matthew and Delores, mwahahaha >:D.
And I will end this review with this quote:
Women fall in love quicker than men. Easier and more often. But when guys fall? We go down harder. And when things go bad? When it’s not us who ends it? We don’t get to walk away.

I think Nailed better written as full novel rather than novella, since some plot can be develop into something more and the relationship between h/H, Sophie Hollbrook and Fynn Babineau is too fast, the chemistry is not too good. While the sex scenes were steamy and sizzling, I wonder if 1st POV make readers don't know how Fynn feel about Sophie. IMO, better to write this in 3rd POV and alternate it to Sophie then Fynn, so I can relate to them both. What make Nailed interesting is just the TV show and home improvement concept.
Recommended if you want to read a quick and steamy read.

I often hear about Cara McKenna, that she write some best erotica story. I want to read her Willing Victim, but I'm just too freaked out to read about the "almost-rape" theme. Nor that I have time to read her other works (sound cliche, eh?). So, when Harlequin Cosmo Red Hot Read have "Her Best Laid Plans" on Netgalley, I snatched a copy. Not just because I want to try Ms McKenna's work, but the blurb catched my interest. Set in Ireland with a hot-to-trot man with sexy accent? Sold!
When I read read the part when Ms McKenna describe the hero (blue eyes, dark blonde hair, sexy accent and voice, chocky charm), my mind scream "OMG, ROARKE, ROARKE, ROARKE!!!. See, I always want to go to Ireland, because I read In Death series and people who know me maybe already know my (un)healthy obsession to Roarke. Yes, I know it's silly to want to go to Ireland, just to meet my own Roarke. Now, happily married to my sweetheart, I kinda buried my hope to go to Ireland. But reading this novella, renew my dream to go to Ireland again.
Her Best Laid Plans is a simple, fun and steamy short read. Perfect if you want to have a quick read. Basically the story just a fling between Jamie Webb and Connor Kelleher, how even just met for 2 days they decide to have "no strings attached" relationship. All get complicated when Jamie realized that she want to be with Connor forever, not just a holiday affair. But she also can't abandon her first plan, to become a commander for her own plan and future.
What make me love this novella is how Ms McKenna describe about Ireland. Lush and simply beautiful. I find myself transferred to the Pub when Jamie first met Connor, to Cork Harbour when Connor took Jamie to her lesson, to feel all Jamie's experience in Ireland. My, I hope that someday I really, really can go to Ireland! To see the green hill, a mist that rumored surround the island, a blue ocean that will make me feel drowned on it.
Even just a short story, Ms McKenna make us can relate to both her characters. I see that Connor somehow is too good to be true, and I don't know that why he's so shy at first to Jamie while he already her 5 years senior. I see his personality is contradictive. Shy, yet can be bold. Charming and also dirty in bed. For Jamie, hmm, I somehow do not want she think too hard to herself. While I praise her to her confidence and her decision to stick with her plan. This couple is somehow is too sweet for me, but when it comes to sex, just one word. Wowza! Ms McKenna sure know how to write a sizzling and scorching sex scene. Make me want to check her other books (ehm!)
Need a quick sweet and fun read with sizzling hot sex that set in Ireland also sweet and fun? Just read Her Best Laid Plans, you will disappointed if you miss this :).

Read my review in Indonesian on my little blog here:
Guidebook to Murder is the first book of Tourist Trap Mystery, and I believe this is the first cozy mystery book that Ms Cahoon wrote. I like it in overall, but Jill's voice kinda girrated my nerves. She seems like to cry often! Make me want to said "oh, chin up, Jill!". Add it with so many emotional baggage that she had, make me wish to Jill to take a break.
The mystery is well written, even imho too much factor and things happen. There was also a little paranormal aspect, which I think not affect the story much. The culprit is also not who I guess before (or my deduction skill is suck), but the end kinda anticlimax.
My little complaint, maybe about the cover. I like the pic, because it have bookstore on it and my nerd self is squealed in delight. But I don't like the letter. IMHO, it's more like a bad case of photoshop. The letter is too... normal, too blah for cozy mystery cover.
For book #1, Guidebook to Murder make a good start and I want to read the next. Want to know more about Jill and her friends, also her relationship with Detective Greg King

A sexy, scorching hot and laugh out loud funny story . Tiffany Reisz will always be my author to go for erotic romance :)
Told the story about Beatrize, or Miss Bea Haven, a sex toy (and education) blogger extraordinairre. So, yes, she got paid for having orgasm. I wonder why there's no sex blogger in my country, Indonesia. But I think there will be uproar here ;). When attend Claudia,Bea's foster sister, she must review "The Manual", book about sex position, so yeah she need a partner.
Enter Ben, Bea's old flame when she was in college. Ben made a big mistake with avoiding Bea'a offer to have sex with her. But now 5 years later, both are adult and Ben is more than eager to assist Bea in her "research". It's funny to see they have sex, and then Bea review it for her blog! There's a funny twist near the end that caused by Henry, Ben's friend and Claudia's fiance'.
This is so different from The Sinners series, tamer and somehow vanilla. But I still love it! Misbehaving is erotic re-telling of Shakespeare's play "Much Ado About Nothing". Haven't see or read the play, I can enjoy the story without compare it to the original. Bea and Ben is so sweet, their story is so heartwarming, especially how they finally declare their love to each other, make me have a fuzzy and warm feeling (it's not bad actually!). The other couple, Henry and Claudia is so funny, but they care about Ben and Bea so they do anything to reconcile them. A bellshop name Keaton make a comic relief here, and have so much funny one liner.
Alas, the story is too short and I want more about Bea and Ben. Also, before reading this, I browse so many pic of Benedict Cumberbatch, and when I know the hero's name is Ben.. well, I can't stop imagine Benedict do many dirty things! He's British and also have a sexy voice, so yeah my imagination running wild last night ;).
Thanks for write this story, Ms Reisz. I expect more funny and erotic story from you :)

I once read an article in a women's magazine that said it's a really bad sign when you and your spouse stop arguing. It means that you've given up and no longer care about saving your marriage
When I read that part, I'm kinda a little freakout. Covet has an issue. A big issue. It's not just about cheating (even emotionally) if you read from just the blurb. Covet is about Claire Canton's struggle to support her husband and her family. An emotional weight that I know, some women out here understand too.
Can I blame Claire to fall for Daniel, when her husband Chris so distant from her? Morally, what Claire did was wrong. You must not cheat on your husband. But, emphatically, if I'm in Claire's shoes, I might be do the same with her. Claire was emotionally battered, suffer from her diabetic condition, try to hold her family, sexually frustated, can I blame her when she feel happy when she received a call from Daniel? Even in the end she choose what better for her.
And that what Covet is. It's not a novel about cheating. It's a novel about Claire's journey. It's show her strength, as woman, as a wife and as a mother.
No matter what that you are married or not, woman or man, Covet is a must read for anyone. If only the ending handle differently and not that easy, Covet will likely become my Top Read this year.

Sole Regret is a rock banTempt Me is the second book of One Night With Sole Regret series, which story about... one night with Sole Regret of course. Sole Regret is a rock band. With famous and hot to trot rock stars. In the first book,Try Me; Olivia Cunning, one of my author goddess tell the story about Gabriel "Gabe" Banner or Force, a drummer of Sole Regret with his lady love, Melanie. Love blossom in just one night. Just.One.Night. Are there any conclusion of their relationship in the second book aka this book aka Tempt Me? Nope.Nada.Zero.Zing. That's also the problem with Tempt Me. You not make a problem and not write the conclusion, JUST BECAUSE THIS ONE IS NOVELLA AND NOT A FULL-LENGTH NOVEL,WOMAN!!
Sorry, I'm just kidding, Olivia ;). But yeah, I don't like the way she write the ending. The problem with Adam's drug habit and his addict father is not solved in this one. Even this book is still sexy, I also find it not... sexy. Confused? Me too :/. The main characters, Adam Taylor, the main guitarist and Madison Fairbanks, the drug abuse consultant (okay don't know the right term, sorry) is steady couple. Had know each other for a year and always have sex each time they met. Romantic? Well, maybe that what Madi thought. Me? I can't do that, but hey, that Madison's problem. To choose with a rock star.
The first chapter is interesting and Adam already caught my heart with his adorable feeling to Madison. I always think Adam is like Brian Sinclair from The Sinners! Until, I find his drug habit. Okay, he's now clean and sober. But there's chance he will back, even he work so hard to not become addict again. For Madison. Uh huh. BUT, he admit that he got laid with another women when he's not with Madison. Even he finally feel sorry about that. Ehm, dude, that cheating. I don't like cheating in my book. Ever. The other thing that bothered me is Madison seems to eager to work up Adam. Um,long time no see make she hot and bothered, but pass border of naughty girl (maybe its harsh if I think she kinda slutty? :/) I'm a little bit disturbed.
Thing that save this book, beside the romance is just okay for me, and the sex scenes is still hot hot hot (but become a little bit boring with all that talk), is the friendship and bromance between Sole Regret member. Oh, and the stage performance part! This is why I love Olivia Cunning's books (this and The Sinner). I always love to read how she write the bromance, how each member care with their own way. For Tempt Me, there's unresolving problem between Adam and their vocalist Shade, which remind me a lot with Sed from Sinners. And of course, we don't know what exactly the problem betwen that two :/.
Final words, do I love this? Umm, I like the first book than this. Do I still want to read the next book,Take Me ? Yeah, bring it on! Hope its get better and... even just one night, please don't make unresolve problem again! :(...more
