FIRST READ : Read at September 2010
This is the story after the event from Passion Unleashed. So this one is about Wraith and Serena. Told their life after they're mated and how Serena face her new life as a vampire. My compliment just, well the story is to short.
BTW, Give me more of them, and I will happy, if Larissa Ione make free story about Eidolon-Tayla, my other favorite couple :D
SECOND READ : March, 2011
Well, at March, 28th, 2011, my dream is come true!!!
Finally, Larissa wrote the scene between E and Tayla. The story take place between Sin Undone and Eternal Rider. Tell about E that want to be a father and make Tayla pregnant, but he don't want use his power to do that. Wonder that finally, he and Tayla get what they want ^^. Beware, their sex scene is scorching HOT!!
Now, all Seminus Brothers (except Lore and Sin), are become father..
I'm happy for them ^^
THIRD READ : September, 15th 2011
For celebrating her anthology Supernatural, that made it into USA Today Bestseller (congrats!!), Larissa Ione once again make short story for Demonica character, and now its about Luc-Kar!! You can read at Larissa Ione Author Facebook page, and click this link : http://www.facebook.com/OfficialLaris...
My review after read it :
We know Luc, warg and competent medical staff at UGH (Underworld General Hospital). After the event at Sin Undone, he meet his mate, another warg, Kar. Kar is pregnant, and she will giving a birth soon. Like mostly men, Luc not ready to become father. Although he want to help Kar, Luc can't do anything since Kar want to do it herself. Luc feel helpless, but his life is complete, when finally their child born.
The story is short, but sweet. Not hot like another Demonica:Overkill story, but its good to see what happen to Luc and Kar when they face the beginning of their parenthood. There are cameo from Runa and Conall too. For Demonica fans, this short story of course can't be missed!
FOURTH READ : January, 24 2014
Color me surprised but maybe because I'm so busy last year, I missed two short story that Ms Ione deliver (and posted on her blog). If I'm not stumbled into Goodreads, maybe I'll missed it :(. The first is Oh, Christmas Hell, Oh, Christmas Hell that told Runa and Shade's story. Whoaa their children are so cute and even this couple is not my favorite, I enjoy their story. It basically about Shade's worriness with Christmas for he doesn't want to lie to his children about Santa, and Runa help him to understand. Very short, and not steamy. So it safe to read this in the office, lol!
The second is O Come, All Ye Horsemen (and Angels), which continued after event in Shade's. This is a spoiler one, if you not read Rogue Rider first, you can skip this one. Already read it? Good.
So, Reaver just found that he is the father of Four Horsemen of Apocalypse, and now he doesn't know what to do with his children. See, he missed them for five thousands years, give and take. So not daddy material. With help from Eidolon (me squeal here!!), Reaver giving the Horsemen the most awesome gift for them all. The story is very short (shorter than Shade's) but it still bring tears in my eyes. I can't wait to read Reaver's own book after this :)
The first genre I love is fantasy. No matter what how many books I read, I still love fantasy. Even I still a little bit wary when it comes to3 stars
The first genre I love is fantasy. No matter what how many books I read, I still love fantasy. Even I still a little bit wary when it comes to Urban Fantasy. Since the second genre I love is romance, and Urban Fantasy usually just have HFN (Happy For Now), less don't have romance. Surprisely, last year prove that I don't mind with the lack of romance. So when there's new urban fantasy with catchy cover by a debut author called Night Owls, I snatched a copy on the NetGalley. I admit the blurb also help, for the idea of the vampire as a bookseller/librarian is interesting.
Night Owl is a very traditional urban fantasy, but instead have 1st POV like much UF we know today, it have 3rd POV and told from multiple POV. That's the problem number one. The story told from Valerie McTeague (aka Val), the vampire that own the bookstore Night Owls, her Reinfield Charles (aka Chaz) and Elly Garrett as a hunter who hunt Creeps, the enemy of this book. First I don't have any idea what is Creeps. I think it something paranormal creature going awry and zombielike (or ghoul-like). And then when Val called it Jackal, I realize that it was like werewolf, but they eat human flesh, and they love when their prey were virgin.
Night Owls have 7 important character, Val, Chaz, Elly, Elly's foster brother, Cavale, Val's employer that pursue by Creeps, Justin and two lesbian succubi called Sunny and Lia. All must cooperate to prevent the Creeps for harm Justin, because Justin somehow have a knowledge from the book that had been snatched by Elly and cost her teacher's life, Father Value. The story first told from Elly's POV, then Val's, then Chaz's and then all intertwined in the middle of the story. This is for me, is problem number two, too much character but not enough world building. The world is too simple and somehow lack of explanation. So many characters and so many event happen, make me confused and hard to focus to the story. Also lack of emotion make me can't attached to the characters.
It's not that Night Owls bad, but I will said it's not stellar either. I see it have "first book in series" syndrome and I can see that this book have potential. I think if Night Owls focus just in one character, like Val or Elly, it will make the story more interesting and reader can connect with the the characters. The myth about vampire (like how the vampire made) and the Jackal is interesting and I think can be explored more. I want to give this 3,5 stars, but the ending somehows make no sense whatsoever. I don't know if I can called it cliffhanger, just not connected with the main story.
I think if you want to read a traditional urban fantasy with things that go bump in the night, consider to read Night Owls. If you love romance, maybe you will disappointed to see the lack of romance, even there's just a little hint of romance between some characters, but I'm not sure if it will be explored more.
Thanks to Random Publishing and NetGalley for provide the copy ...more
Once again, Gena Showalter not make me disappointed (2 thumbs up) I've read the 3 short stories ((The Darkest Fire, The Darkest Prison sama Amazon's Curse) in e-book version, so i skip it and read just the guide inside
And... Its soooo great and very funny. My favorite part is "At Home With Lords of The Underworld" Where William (Anya's BFF), interviewing The Lords. I like his interview with Lucien and Gideon (laugh so hard until my stomach hurt ^^)
And then my other favorite is At Round Table Women in LOTU speaks. Its great and i like interview between Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter. There are The Darkest Passion sneak peek. Make me cant wait to read
Overall : Great Book for Gena Showalter's fans especially Lords of The Underworld ^^...more
Just give this book 5 stars. I don't know why this book not "touch" me like The Darkest Passion. But its stillFavorite Quote :"My Demon is a Girl??"
Just give this book 5 stars. I don't know why this book not "touch" me like The Darkest Passion. But its still have a great story
So, Gideon is Keeper of Lies. One day, there is a woman, her name is Scarlet, told him that she is his wife. But Gideon never remember when they are married and why they are now life separated. He can't detect any lie in Scarlet too.
Scarlet is the Keeper of Nightmare, she can unleashed the nightmare in everyone dream. She feel betrayed by Gideon, because he is not remember their marriage. So, Gideon try to remember and digging his memories. But the result is not like he and Scarlet expected...
There are many surprises in this book, not so many as in The Darkest Passion, but still intriguing and need an explanation. There are Greek Gods and Goddesses appearance too, that make the story interesting :)
This book is divided to 3 part, Gideon story, that tell his story with Scarlet to retrieve his memory of their marriage. Amun story, that tell he help Aeron (with help from the Sulky William) to free Legion from Lucifer. And Strider story, his journey to The Temple of Unspoken One and then meet the woman hunter that a long time ago had killed his old friend.
Actually I'm more enjoy Gideon's than Amun or Strider. First I got a hard time to understand his way of talk (with so many lies). But as long as the story goes, we can understand what he talking about.

A series that I admit (with shame) don't have much love for me like I treat Lords of The Underworld. I think last time I read Devyn Targon's book Seduce the Darkness, is... what? Maybe 2 or 3 years ago. So my first thought when read this is I have so much to catch up. Glad I still remember one or two things Like the recurring characters such as Mia Snow (who is cold. Like her name, pun intended), Dallas Guiterrez, Hector Dean, also Devyn and his mate that once is supposed to be McKell's mate, Bride McKells. And even the writing style and the story is so different from LOTU, I still recognized Gena's style. A writing style that make her as one of my author autobuy list and goddess. Not that I'm exaggerated.
The story actually is pretty simple. Just about Ava Sans one of AIR trainee have assigment to catch Victor McKell, famous as McKell only. Since his blood assumed can heal the disease caused by an alien, a queen of Schon. Schon is AIR arc enemy now , by the way and the disease is make people become cannibal. Now I'm stuck with "Plant vs Zombie" game song in my head. Ava and McKell soon attracted to each other, and turn that Ava is McKell's mate. But of course they resist each other yet want to rip each other clothes too. McKell can bind time in his own will so beside his blood, his unique ability can help AIR to defeat Schon's Queen. Can they defeat that b*tch and save the world? Well, not simplea anyway. Its complicated.
Okay, that's a glimpse of the story. What I love from Ecstasy in Darkness is the characters. Ava Sans and McKell. Ava first, she's strong even she have her own fear of abandonment. She also lucky to have her own BFF, Noelle Tremaine. Their friendship is one that make me jealous since they always call each other bad names, yet they not afraid to hurt others feeling. That's what a true friend meaning. To do anything without fearing you will hurt your friend , and if you do you know you will always forgiven. I'm so want to like it, even just to one people.I want someday call that people my "best friend forever".
Now into McKell. He's your typical alpha hero, a kind of "I'm Tarzan You Jane", also have tendency for "See Me. I'm beating my chest and hear me roar!!" Yes, he do roaring, growling and snapping, a lot. But he's kinda cute. Like his confusion toward his action to Ava. His endearment to Ava. He who defend her when she think she's unworthy and trash. And he who grin and feel so much pride when Ava defend him back. Their bantering is so much fun to read and enjoy, also sexy. We will get Gena's humor sense from them, but we also see how Ava and McKell love each other. The sex scene is still scorching hot, yes Gena will never disappoint you for that one. One reason why I love her books *wink*. The sexual tension that oozes from Ava and McKell is top off the chart. Very steamy, indeed.
I don't give this 5 stars like I used to rated Gena's book. Its good, have action, witty and humorous dialogue. Its just not like her LOTU books, its just something missing, and I don't know what. One reason more why 4 stars is I found so many typos! I don't know if its coincidence of my copy or since its 1st edition so there's no correction. If you love Gena Showalter's books, you will also like this. Satisfied guaranteed (do I look like a publisher try to promote any books? I hope not ;) ) ...more

Not bad lah, walau emang keliatan banget tulisan karya debut. Masih belum matang.
Sempat kaget pas tau heronya punya istri, jyah selingkuh diye ma heroinenya -__-". Tapi buku ini bikin ngakak euy.

I guWant to give 5 stars, but the translated version have so many typos and sometimes I lost track in the middle of story, so I give 4 stars instead. I guess the editor of the translated version not doing his/her job? There some pages that flipped, and some translation feel weird. Like they translate "growl" with Indonesian's word of "roar". Duh, that's different!!
But, I like the story. I love Mercy Thompson. I love Samuel Cornick, but I love Adam Hauptman more. So I can't wait to read their next story, since that's no guarantee of romance between Sam, Mercy and Adam. Actually no love triangle after all, and I always want Mercy to be with Adam.
BTW I'm so PISSED OFF, and ANGRY too. Because there no guarantee, the publisher will translate the next book or not. So, why you (publisher) publish this and then decide to not publish the next?
I'm so want to read more about Adam and Mercy!! Guess I will read the english version after this, huh!
I think I know why many people love (and like) this series . Despite the slow beginning and Mac's Barbie-attitude-then-turned-to-kick-ass-Buffy-like (according of some GR review I'd read), I enjoy read this and can't wait to read the next.
Dare I say I'd smitten by Barrons? ;) He's not join my harem yet, but soon... =))
BTW I can't picture him as David Gandy, Joe Manganiello or Jason Momoa. Eric Etebari maybe, (since he's Ms Moning's choice) but Jericho Barrons is more than them. He can't be portrayed, IMO (and Dreamworks plan to make Fever movies. Let's hope they do a good job about that).
My compliment is why Rocky O' Bannion's death seems easy. Despite Mac's words that said Rocky is the first human she kill, I expect some bloody and gruesome scene, LOL!...more
Fans of Historical and Paranormal, must read this.
I'm regret why it take me so long to read Soulless. G5 stars ++, and one of my Top Ten Read at 2011
Fans of Historical and Paranormal, must read this.
I'm regret why it take me so long to read Soulless. Gail Carriger is such a master of story teller, despite its a little hard for me to understand the story at the first, since she use an advanced English words and English not my native.
People said Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison is the most refreshing paranormal for this year, but for me Soulless is, despite its published 2 years ago. The story so original, even its have vampire, werewolf, ghost, but add a new kind in paranormal world, preternatural. Preternatural is not supernatural, nor natural. Its can make supernatural kind became human, and once is a supernatural hunter. And preternatural is lack of soul or don't have a soul, but they different from zombies. They just don't have a soul. Imagine what difficulty Alexia endure to become preternatural (and half - Italian too). But fortunately, she have her parasol to face it all.
This book knocked my sock off despite the slow opening until the middle part, the story flow like I watch a movie, which is good! Can I have parasol like Miss Alexia Tarabotti, so I can catch a werewolf alpha like Lord Conall Maccon? Or befriend with the eccentric vampire Lord Akeldama? *grin*
What I love from this book, despite steampunk genre is not my cup of tea, are the character and the story itself. The biggest star of this book of course Miss Alexia Tarabotti. Born as half italian, a spinster and blue stocking, no wife material, always mocked by her family, especially her sisters, not make her down and backed to the corner. Instead she is witty, smart and sarcastic. I think sarcasm must be her middle name after all.
“How ghastly for her,” said Alexia, driven beyond endurance into comment. “People actually thinking, with their brains, and right next door. Oh, the travesty of it all.”
Then her bantering with Lord Conall Maccon, a werewolf, the fourth Earl of Woolsey , and alpha of Woolsey pack, I found is cute.
“Mark my words, I will use something much, much stronger than smelling salts,” came a growl in Miss Tarabotti's left ear. The voice was low and tinged with a hint of Scotland. It would have caused Alexia to shiver and think primal monkey thoughts about moons and running far and fast, if she'd had a soul. Instead it caused her to sigh in exasperation and sit up.
“And a good evening to you, too, Lord Maccon. Lovely weather we are having for this time of year, is it not?” She patted at her hair, which was threatening to fall down without the hair stick in its proper place.
And its interesting how to see their relationship work. Alexia is not innocent, but she never guess Lord Maccon will love her, even she make a mistake at their first meeting which include a hegdehog. Conall might be old, but when its come to relationship between men and woman, he is clueless like Alexia was. Good thing he have his Beta, Professor Randolph Lyall, who make a best advice at human relationship. Alexia-Conall romantic scene not to steamy, but written well. It make my heart so happy when they're kissing, lol.. And when finally they declare love to each other :
“Well, my love,” said Alexia with prodigious daring to Lord Maccon, “shall we?” The earl started to move forward and then stopped abruptly and looked down at her, not moving at all. “Am I?” “Are you what?” She peeked up at him through her tangled hair, pretending confusion. There was no possible way she was going to make this easy for him. “Your love?” “Well, you are a werewolf, Scottish, naked, and covered in blood, and I am still holding your hand.” He sighed in evident relief. “Good. That is settled, then.”
There are so many interesting character at Soulless who will make you enjoy this story like Lord Akeldama, Alexia's flamboyant vampire friend, Miss Ivy Hesselpeny, Alexia's friend with horrible taste of hats. Floote,Alexia's Buttler, Countess Nadasdy, Queen of Westminster Hive or vampire community and many more.
I hear Soulless is made into manga, and I can said, the artist can describe Alexia and Lord Maccon well (even I'm not too satisfied with Conall's drawing). You can see their description here :

--------------------------------------------------------- Just wanna I HAVE A NEWS FOR ALL EIDOLON'S FANS!!
Just look at the bottom of my review *grin*
--------------------------------------------------------- Just wanna say :
Everybody love Wraith, maybe because his bad-ass attitude
Everybody love Shade, maybe because.. what? Dunno *lol*
For me, just one of Seminus Brother that from the beginning until the end, that still captivated me, still make me love him, still make me adore him and his name is..
So, is it wrong that his book is favorite of mine? But, actually all of Demonica are favorite of mine!
This is my 3rd times read...And I realize something,...
Wraith's book is about his change, from his bad-ass attitude to became a better person (and remember he is badly tortured at the past, so he deserved happines for his book)
Shade's book is about how he deal with his curse, and his feeling to Runa..I dunno, Shade is not my favorite Sem after all, but after re-read his book, I got his"other" side, that I'd missed when first read it...
Eidolon's is about prejudice... Maybe with highly erotica content in this book (hello chapter 2 *grin*), people forgot, that his book have a deepest meaning from all Demonica (in my opinion of course)... It's about prejudice, both from Demon side and Human side... Especially from human side, let's say Tayla...
Tayla believe that all demon are bad, all demon are cruel. But look, after she meet Eidolon, she know that she wrong. That every side not always black and white. Every side always have a gray side, a shade, that make is right isn't always right, and wrong not always wrong.. Demon aren't all bad, there are some harmless demon, and The Aegis, her organization is not as good as she believed..
And then E.... While many fans of Demonica love Wraith,I love E because his dedication to his hospital, and while his relationship with Wraith not good like Wraith and Shade, he still care for his little brother...
I must stop babbling about this series *lol*
I'm glad when some friend of mine decided to read this, and then they love it...
I'm glad that Larissa Ione make this wonderful series...
What I must said?
If you not read Demonica yet, you must take this to your top to-read list ;) -----------------------------------------------------------------------
As the gift from Larissa, because so many fans of her support Jaci Burton at DA BWAHA, she write the scene between E and Tayla, and their efforts to make baby!!
This scene is take place at Sin Undone and Eternal Rider..
How can I do that? Don't ask , it's one of seven wonder in this world
Despite my early rating that just give 4 stars, I re-read again this book, and why I give 4... I dunno why... But after re-read, I give this 5 stars!! :D
The story is about Elena, the Guild Hunter and Hunter-born. She can smell the scent, mostly for vampire. Someday, she hired by Cadre of Ten, the powerful group of Archangel. One Archangel, Raphael (woot, woot no need to say, he's so sexy!!!), said that her job is to find another Archangel that turn bloodborn, and tried to make havoc at New York, place where Raphael rule. After that Elena enter an angelworld, a world that she just dreamed of, a world that a stronger creature rule and a world that a powerful Archangel want her for himself alone..
My favorite scene is the last scene when (view spoiler)[ Raphael fight with Uram at New York sky. Raphael will get lose, but when he want to deliver the last blow to Uram, Elena help him. She shoot Uram's wing while Raphael finally defeat Uram with his angel fire. Elena body is broken, so do Raphael. When they both facing the death, miracle happen.. What miracle, it will be double spoiler then :P (hide spoiler)]
I can't enough said that Guild Hunter become my favorite series. My..., maybe ALL-TIME favorite! I'm never bored when read this. And, despite the hero is archangel, THERE'S NO RELIGIOUS ASPECT IN THIS BOOK!!!
So, stop muttering why the hero is angel, why the hero's name must be Raphael... C'mon! This is just fiction! The angel not deity, they're just an immortal that breed, have parent and children, live and even they immortal, they can die.
So what are you waiting for? Just pick this wonderful series and start reading! ;)
You know that I pick Oriol Elchaco as my Raphael right?(what my? Yes, he is mine! >:) ).. This is some Raphael's hotness!
He's nom nom right? So, don't forget, Raphael definitely one of my nom nom boyfriends ;) ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>...more

I guess, that's what happen for all Ilona Andrews's books, at last for me. So hard to enjoy the first book of their series (even I still like On The Edge from Edge series), but the next book become better. What I love more is how the author put Celtic Myth into this. I like, no more likely love that myth! I guess, because there was so many book that put Greek and Norse myth in their books, it become boriiiiing. And so few books have Celt myth on it (even now, it become many. And nope, I will not count Fae. I want to read about Celt Gods and Goddesses). Beside Celt, they also have Hekate from Greek pantheon (but as Ilona Andrews mention in this book, Hekate also from Asia). The fact that Oracle Witch are 3 people that represent Hekate make me.. what I can describe... umm, squeal! Heheheh :P
Yep, I love myth and folklore, that's why I like Magic Burns more that it predecessor. But, I also love Kate. Her sarcasm, dry humor, her dark past (I know kinda guess, who her real father was), her responsibility to Julie. Talk about Julie, what with that kid, huh? Offer her virginity to Red, just because she love him. Blech! She still 13 years old. And Red just 15. I don't like Julie, she's an irritating child. Kate and Curran fight so hard to save her from Fomorians who want she died, and all she cared were about her feeling to Red, especially when that little bastard (uhm, sorry) left her. What a spoiled child!
Curran, hmm Curran. I'm soooo frustated to see his relationship to Kate. I understand that he somehow care for Kate, and who know maybe he plan to court her. But, ugh, at last just one kiss please? Poor Kate doesn't get laid for almost 2 years, her hormones go overload. Just one kiss is enough, no hanky panky is okay *sobs*. The last scene between Kate and Curran make me giddy, lol!
Okay, this review more like me ranting and gushing anyway :P. I'm glad I can enjoy this series now. And I can read the rest of the books very slowly. Book #6, Magic Rises will be released in July. That's mean I can read one book in a month. Slow of course, but at last I will not feel tortured while wait for Magic Rises to be published....more
