First book I manage to finish for 2016. Yay, me! :D
Also first review for 2016 :P
Rising Fire is the first book from Stone Circles series and also my first try into Terri Brisbin's works. I try to read this one because Celtic mythology and deities is one of my favorites. Also the premise kinda remind me of Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts that I loved (wait, just realize both have same series name!!). What I liked again is, the deities is Irish deities, not Gaelic one, also this one set in historical era, when Christianity already spread in British Isle and druidic practice considered as heretic.
For a first book, Rising Fire did a good job. Not stellar, but definitely make a strong foundation for a series. The h/H are just okay, I mean nothing special to make me remember them for a long time. No TSTL heroine and no I'm alpha-hear-me-roar hero, so maybe it's look like them a little blah and bland. But it's okay, I still enjoy the story. What bugged me is the romance. The relationship between Brienne and William feel too rushed for me,also kinda lack of chemistry. As individual, they are not bad, but as a couple I feel something are off.
The villain is unusual and despite his I-want-to-rule-the-world attitude, Brisbin write him as not one dimensional characters. There is hope that the villain will be redeemed himself in the end. Because this book is part of trilogy, there are some thread to the next book and I'm glad that the villain remained the same. What I liked again, compared to Circle series by Nora Roberts, the characters don't know each other, but introduced one by one. The main characters for the next book doesn't appear in this one, but I'm sure that Brienne and William will have some role in the future.
I agree with one review that said the writing in this book seems choppy. It's easy for me to lost track and go "huh?", because some scenes transition is not smooth. I also lost track who is who, especially the nobles one. The fact about William's heritage also a little fuzzy at first and took me some chapters to know who he really is.
I think I will read the second book, Raging Sea. From the premise, it sounds more promising because both MCs already know each other but there are some heartbreak behind it. Second chance is one of my favorite trope and I want to know if the Goddess of Fire, Chaela will never ever released in this world. Because when that happen, boom!! Destruction everywhere ;)....more

So, to sum it up, Jewels of The Sun is my less favorite of Nora Roberts's books, sinArghhhh, I just write the review and my computer eat it. Damn!! X(
So, to sum it up, Jewels of The Sun is my less favorite of Nora Roberts's books, since its so slow and boring and things get interesting near the end. The characters don't help either. Since the heroine, Jude is too much wallowing in self pity and Aidan, even he's like Nora Robert's typical hero, he become jerk and arrogant. Even he kinda redeem himself in the end.
The good thing just the myth and because it's setting in Ireland. Kudos to Ms Roberts to make me want to go to Ireland. I want to know if that country is full of magic and well.. green everywhere.
Next to Tears of the Moon, but I don't want to have a high expectation. God know, Nora Roberts is still my favorite author...more

Here we goes :
dan yang terakhir, sudah pasti buku ini... The Iron King!! (yuhuu, throw confetti!! Just kidding *LOL*)
Oke ceritanya tentang apa sih?
5 reasons why I give this book 5 stars : 1. Ide ceritanya, walau ga begitu fresh, tapi menarik
2. Julie Kagawa memunculkan dua mitologi disini, A Midsummer's Night Dream dan Mitologi Celtic.
5. Praise dari Gena Showalter, my favorite author. Believe me, apapun yang Gena bilang bagus, emang kenyataannya bagus (udah membuktikannya, haha :D)
(Alasan tambahan : Buku ini buku pertama yang diterjemahkan Zaizai, my friend. Dan terjemahannya so far so good. Hei, aku jujur lho ;D)
So, Tim Puck atau Tim Ash? No Idea, hmpfh =)) )

Pandora said that Cin must accept who she truly was, why she has a dark magic. The question is, is Cin ready to released her dark magic?
The story still great like two books before, but the conflict sometimes feel flat for me. The ending make me wonder , is there a continue in this series? If the answer is yes, I can't wait to read the fourth book, and what adventure that Cin and Michael will face next... ...more

Dulcie call The Righteous, with her spell, and then one of The Righteous, come to her home. His name is Michael, called Devil's Archangel. He's so handsome, with his dark blonde, and Dulcie began attract to him, like never before. Then, the other members come, Devlin, their leader, called Lord Dark, and his consort, Justine, called Devil's Justice...
Later, they know, Sebastian's master is Kali, Goddess of Destruction, a vampire, that Devlin know, she so dangerous, and impossible to beat her. Kali need Dulcie's magic to free her from her binding, so she can rules this world with her bloodthirsty... (sound familiar).Dulcie know if she still become human, she can beat Kali, so she ask Michael to take her virginity, and then make her a vampire. She tell Michael to give her a new name. Despite her scarlet hair (that hide under glamor, and become a copper colored hair), and her voluptuous body, Michael called her Cin..
And after that, Cin Craven is born, the vampire with witch power, that will do anything to stop Kali from her ambition...
I love with the story in this book. Dulcie's change from a mere viscount daughter to become Cin, a vampire, was written well. My problem in this book is Kali's sex preference. She choose women than men, and the scene in Inn, when she have a menage with Sebastian and barmaid - and it involved Cin too!- make me cringed, and I almost skip that part.
Cin and Michael' s relationship is too new in this book. I want to know, how their relationship will develop, and how Cin dealing with her new life as vampire, when she never get old, people that she love is dying and left her.
This series is interesting, and I continue reading
If you love historical romance with paranormal aspect, first person POV, vampire, ass kick heroine, hot men (Michael, ehm). Just read this book! ;D...more

Cin had guess that Marakesh is guilty over murder case at Edinburgh. But MacLeod not believe her, he still think his wife is innocent. When wandering in the castle Cin met Marakesh. Bound and delusional. That's when Cin know someone cast a magic at MacLeod's castle...
Cin's investigation don't do well. MacLeod still believe his wife is innocent, his guards act suspiciously, and Cin don't know who the magician that hold the castle. Cin and Michael's relationship are rocky, especially after Michael see Drake embrace Cin (even actually he hold her when Cin fall from the stair). So Michael decide to go to calm himself with Belinda, MacLeod's guest.Of course that make Cin's heart broke...
Is it true Marakesh is a killer? If not who the real culprit? Who the magician that can't be detect by Cin? Can Cin control her black magic? Then, the most important, can Cin and Michael mend their relationship?
This book is better than the first. We can see how Cin's character is develop from a mere Viscount daughter to a new born vampire, then become vampire and witch. Her relationship with Michael is up and down. Michael think he not deserve Cin, since in the past he just a gardener (even he make it into Scotland's soldier), and Cin is noble, so they fight because of that. But Michael is the ideal lover for Cin. He's not too tall (just 5 ft 10 inch) but his sword skill that make his enemy afraid of him. And of course with his appearance,,with his dark blonde hair and his piercing eyes, that make Cin melt when see Michael ;)). And their making love scene is sooo passionate, make me want to fanning myself.
We will know about vampire hierarchy at Europe. Where they divide Europe into 2 place, Western and Eastern. We also will know about Marakesh's past, and later it will help Cin to mend her relationship with Michael. Who's the culprit and the conspiracy that vampires do at MacLeod's castle.

I buy the secondhand edition a weeks ago, despite I already read this a year ago, but I love Cheyenne McCray. And while I give the first read 5 stars, I decide to give just 4 stars for this 2nd read. Not that I'm not enjoyed it, but sometimes I give ratings for some books without thinking (sometimes happen, believe me)
I love Cheyenne McCray's books and stories, and Magic series by her is definitely my fave. She can mix suspense, magic, myth and a sensual story well. Magic series can be categorized for erotica, esp for 2 previous books, this one and the first. But not so heavy, I can said just at mild level. And this series can't be read stand alone, since the event always continue from the first to the last..
What I dislike.. Ummm, maybe because the hero, (almost all of them, really) use to have a long hair and wear leather pants. Not fans of hero like that, I prefer them have a short, military cut and use jeans instead, lol.
If you like paranormal stories with witch character and Irish myth, be sure to include this series to your must to read list...more
