This secHer Next Breath is a short read, packed full of action and great writing. It started off strong from page one and really caught my attention. This second book in the Uncharted SEALs series is a mix of romance and suspense, action and sexy insta-love. While on a mission, former SEAL Jackson Keller and his spec ops team rescue/take into custody school teacher Suri McAnally. I love a good rescue and this one is both sexy and intense. I also love a romance that takes place during a dangerous mission, which heightens the hero and heroine's emotions and speeds the relationship development up. It makes the insta-lust/insta-love a little more believable and kept me turning the pages. I didn't love the heroine as much as I would have wanted to, and didn't think that her actions always matched up with her backstory. But overall I was happy with where the story ended up and I will definitely check out more Delilah Devlin books. I'm interested in reading about the rest of this spec ops team and I'll go back and read book one in this series....more

Wealthy businessman, Mikhail Lysenko, is a sexy, moody, doesn't take no for an answer, Russian bad boy, alpha male. All things I really enjoy in a hero. Mikhail has set his sights on lawyer, Lindsay Carlisle and plans to make her his as soon as possible. The only problem is that her current client is on the opposite side of a potential business deal with the wealthy and powerful Mikhail. Despite her strong attraction to Mikhail, she knows she can't afford to get involved with him. But he is both persistent and persuasive and her walls come crumbling down sooner rather than later.
I enjoyed both of these characters and the different sides they brought out in each other. Their relationship moves fast but it feels real and honest. And when Mikhail and Lindsay give in to their attraction, they heat up the pages. There is also some suspense mixed in with their sexy romance and it amplifies Mikhail's protective and possessive side. Their intense relationship only gets stronger with each hurdle and they prove to be a very good match for one another.
I've always enjoyed Carole Mortimer's writing, and her latest books, including her Alpha series and Pursued by the Devil are sexier than ever.

I really loved the first book and was looking forward to Bryce and Bronwyn's story. A Husband's Regret is full of angst, heartache, stubborn characters and hope for love at the end. This series is so unique in that it starts after the hero and heroine are married and have reached a very dark point in their relationship. Their marriages weren't perfect to start with and each story starts with a bang, throwing you into turmoil and sympathy for these characters. Bryce is an ultimate jerk hero, behaving horribly towards his wife Bronwyn, sending her running away from him. The events that unfold afterwards are heartbreaking.
Bryce was definitely over the top, and his actions were almost too much for me. I was hoping there would be a really, REALLY good reason for his behavior, otherwise I might have rolled my eyes right out of my head by the halfway point. Rest assured, there are good reasons for the way Bryce is and they made sense. I was looking forward to seeing how he would turn things around later on. I loved how Bronwyn didn't let Bryce get away with his awful treatment of her at all. She really made him work for her forgiveness, and in doing so, he was able to work out his own issues and become a better person.
I didn't love this story as much as I did the first book in the series. I thought the second half of the book dragged a bit and just made me sad, but I was glad to find a believable happy ending for these characters come the end of the book....more

I love the brother/sister's friend trope, especially when the relationship starts out in secret, which it did for Mack and Josie. I did feel like the switch from friends to lovers happened pretty instantly without much buildup, but there was no question about the chemistry between them. Mack and Josie steamed up the pages!...more

This is a hard oneI started Risk the Night excited and looking forward to a quick, hot read. Unfortunately I was left feeling a little disappointed. This is a hard one for me to rate because I love Anne Stuart's writing and her dark heroes so much, but I just didn't connect to this story. I found it hard to find qualities to like about the heroine and hero, and instead found too many things I didn't love. I really like the premise of the story, but with so few pages to play it out, there wasn't any time to settle in and really understand where these characters were coming from. One big thing that bothered me was the fact that both the hero and heroine were cheating on the person they were seeing, and didn't seem to care too much about it. What made it worse though was having it rubbed in constantly, even during intimate scenes, which ruined the mood for me. I did enjoy the sexual tension and feeling of danger to their relationship though.
Setting aside those issues, Anne Stuart is still a favourite author for me and I would pick up another of her books in a second....more

I really loved Flirting With Scandal, the first book in the Capital Confessions series. I've always enjoyed a romance that mixes in some politics and shows that lifestyle from the inside, and this story was everything I'd hoped for. It was scandalous and super sexy right from the start. It was also a story with a lot of heart. I liked Jackie and Will a lot and wondered how they were going to make it work ultimately. Will was a nice guy with a definite edgy side, and I fell for him hard myself. Okay, I'll admit I swooned big time for his character. If I'm going to read about a good guy who isn't dragging around a lot of angst and baggage, from now on I want him to be just like William Clayton! I loved how Will really felt that he could be his true self with Jackie and fought for her throughout the book, not giving in to her fears.
And holy moly their chemistry was intense from the get go. This author can write seriously amazing love scenes! The details, the heat, I could go on and on. I understood how they couldn't keep their hands off each other!
I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in this series, featuring Blair. Hopefully Will and Jackie will make an appearance. I'm so glad to have found another author whose writing I love!
(view spoiler)["I walked away, Will trailing behind me, his hand drifting down to the small of my back. To the onlooker it was a perfectly casual touch as he guided me through the crowd. But I recognized it for what it was, could feel it in the way his skin pressed against mine. He was marking me, and strangely enough, I liked it."
"I didn’t tell him the rest, that there was something about the poem that gave me hope. Hope that even though I’d been born from this ugly affair between two people who didn’t give a shit about each other, that maybe there was something out there that was special—more—even if I was afraid to find it. Even if it sat across the table from me, staring at me like I was everything."
“Sometimes when I’m inside you, I feel like the breath has been knocked from my body, and I forget everything but the look in your eyes. There’s something about our bodies joining that feels right, like there’s nowhere I’d rather be. Like it’s exactly where I’m meant to be.”

I love this book so hard! From the first few pages I was hooked. Maksim Kirov is a character that demands attention and I was happy to give it to him. An Obsession With Vengeance is the third book in the Wanted Men series and I have to say it is my absolute favourite so far. This series is a must read! If you love badass, strong, sexy, very alpha, dangerous heroes, then you're going to want to read about these men.
This book features Maksim and the woman he falls hard for, Sydney. I thought Sydney was a perfect match for Maks, their chemistry was off the charts from the start. Sydney is strong, sexy, smart, and a single mother who works to protect and provide a great life for her son, Andrew. Maks wants her right from the start and has no problem letting her know all about it. Maks is beyond sexy, mysterious, definitely dangerous and yet he's also a rock that Sydney can lean on for anything. Maksim Kirov is a respected member of the Russian mafia, and a tortured hero for sure, overcoming a very difficult past. When Maksim and Sydney are on the page together the heat is undeniable. And their love scenes are intensely sexy.
This book brought out all kinds of reactions from me, which is how it should be when you're reading a great book. Before the halfway point I had overheated, squirmed, laughed and even gasped. And there was so much more to come! To say An Obsession With Vengeance was intense (in all the best ways), is an understatement.
You won't find any fluffy, just for show gangsters here. When threatened or disrespected, there are consequences to pay.
"When he threatened you, he opened himself up for like. He plans on taking your life; he's given me permission to take his. That's just the way it is."
He does not take lightly to Sydney or his organization being threatened and he, along with the men in his circle, work to protect her and flush out those who dare to make moves against them.
I recommend An Obsession With Vengeance so highly! This one is headed for my keeper shelf. I also can't say enough how talented this author is at writing secondary characters that draw you in and leave you begging for their stories to be told. The brotherhood of these men is a pleasure to read about. Alek's story is up next in the series and I absolutely can. not. wait! Watching Alek's emotional state deteriorate through each of the three books, I just know it's going to be another consuming read!
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

"His fingers curled into fists, and he felt a bead of sweat roll down the middle of his back. Not yet. But soon. As he had last time, he'd mark her, leave behind his scent. Like an animal. It won't leave you feeling like you've missed out on anything, so you can just dive right in. I would say that I mostly enjoyed this book, so I'm giving it 3.5 stars. Taking What's His has some of the elements that I really love, like the best friend's little sister trope, secret relationship, a damaged hero, and lots of dirty talk. Holt is dealing with a lot of issues from his time as a Marine, and I really wanted to see how Lydia was going to be able to get through to him and show him that he's worth loving. It felt very realistic how that didn't happen all at once, it was a slow process throughout the book. Their chemistry felt real and exciting. There were times that I didn't feel as connected to the characters and lost a little bit of interest though. I love a good hero-being-a-jerk moment which Holt definitely gives more than once, including near the end, but I also felt like there was a little too much happening at the end. This is only the second book that I've read in the Shillings Agency series, and I'll definitely come back to it again and see what else it has to offer....more

This is the first book by Nancy Haviland that I've read and I'm excited to have found a new series to follow and a new author to enjoy! This is a standalone and the first in the Wanted Men series.
Gabriel Moretti is a powerful, born leader who commands respect from everyone around him. He is a definite alpha male and I really enjoyed his interactions with Eva, who happens to be the daughter of his good friend and mentor, Vasily Tarasov. Vasily is also a powerful mafia boss. I thought this would give Gabriel more pause before pursuing Eva, given he was asked to protect her by Vasily, but he throws caution to the wind and decides to worry about the consequences later. Eva is almost an obsession for Gabriel from the start and the progression of their relationship felt real and meaningful despite the short amount of time together. And I really couldn't wait to see Vasily's reaction to their relationship.
There are a lot of great elements to this story: a sexy mafia hero, an innocent heroine coming into her own, suspense, murder, a touch of MC club , and a whole list of secondary characters to love. And I really have to stress my excitement for these men! There are so many interesting, sexy, mysterious, complex, alpha males that I can't wait to read about in future books. Some of them work for Gabriel and some head their own organizations. The author really knows how to write a bromance, which I love. But there is also some tension among the large group of men and it will be fun to see how they interact in future books.
A Love of Vengeance brings love, sex, danger, sexy alpha males, violence and a lot of promise for more in the books to come. I'm excited about this series and I look forward to reading Vincente and Nika's story in book two, The Salvation of Vengeance.
P.S. Am I the only one who really wants to see Vasily find love again too? I can't be! I think he deserves a second chance and I hope there's a possibility of his own book later down the line....more
