I always love a good paranormal romance and the paranormal aspects of this story really intrigued me. I haven't come across the light/dark elves very often, so it was a nice break from the traditional vampire, shifter stuff. While I did enjoy the story, I do wish it had been longer. I believe there will be more books- not sure if they will be about the same characters, but because the story was on the shorter side, I felt like not too much was able to happen. The writing was really good though and I think if there are more books about these characters coming in the future, then it was a good introduction to both the world and the characters.
I will definitely check out other books about these characters or in the series!...more

I got everything I would have wanted from a full story, compacted into a quick read. It's well written and has some great characters. It's sexy and romantic with a hint of action and a lot of paranormal goodness. Felicity's strong points are definitely her writing and her world building.
Asteria was an absolute pleasure to read. She's so sassy and so much fun. She clashes with Rey's goodness and we get some great banter as a result. I enjoyed the fact that we haven't yet seen these characters previously in the series. While I love getting glimpses of all the other characters in the other books, this was refreshing and different.
Felicity Heaton is the paranormal romance queen in my opinion. You can't go wrong with one of her books if you are a fan of the genre. I definitely recommend any of her series! I can't believe that AbaD is book # 1o in the series! I hope there are many more stories to come because I am not ready to leave this wonderful world Felicity has created....more

I will be checking out more of her stories as I very much enjoyed Everywhere and Every Way. I love Property Brothers and think it is a genius idea to base a book series off of. Who wouldn't want a gorgeous man who can build her dream home? Seriously though, I love the plot of this story. At first I wasn't too sure about their father's will being the main catalyst of the story, but not only did it get the ball rolling, I feel like it did a great job setting up this book and the next books in the series.
I really enjoyed watching the different types of relationships progress through the novel, especially the relationship between the three brothers. It was a relief for them to finally be able to put aside the past and their differences in order to not only run the company, but to finally have a good relationship as brothers. The relationship between Caleb and Morgan is the right amount of sexy and sweet without being too overdone. I appreciate that the story focused as much on the house they were building as the relationships building within the novel. That's the type of contemporary romance I enjoy; one that has a bit of storyline other than straight romance.
I enjoyed Jennifer's writing and am looking forward to checking out not just the next book in this series, but some of her other stories too. If you like Property Brothers (or similar shows) and romance novels, give this one a shot!...more

With that said, I didn't fall in love with the characters or the story; this was a case of like over love. I think the story happened too quickly for my liking. I felt like the novel could have been expanded and that would have added the depth and complexity the story and characters needed to be a great read. The characters did not seem to grow or change much within the twelve chapters. It was a well written story, but it was too short for me to really connect with the characters.
Dare to Take is a standalone within a series, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the other books in the series because previous characters make appearances in this one. I did enjoy seeing the different family members interacting and found them all intriguing. The back story was also really interesting. Part of me wants to read this series from the beginning so I can have a deeper connection to all of these characters and get a bigger sense of the Dare family. One of my favorite parts of the story was the way Carly emphasized the importance of family and the closeness of the Dare's. It's easy for the reader see how much they all love and care for one another.
Another thing I didn't particularly care for was the romance. I liked the mystery and suspense that flowed within the book, but for a main character to be more focused on a man instead of worrying about who is targeting her and why is not believable even within the pages of a romance novel. I would have loved to see the mystery aspect of the story play a larger role. But it was nice to see these characters succeed at their second chance of happiness.
Dare to Take is a cute, short romance with mystery/suspense mixed in. Though I wasn't crazy about it, I will definitely try out some of Carly's other novels. I enjoyed her writing and was intrigued by most of the Dare family.
I do think that a lot of people will enjoy this read though. The story is full of romance and has just the right amount of sexy to please romance lovers. I recommend this story to anyone that likes second chance romances with a hint of mystery and spice....more

It was quick but enjoyable. The paranormal aspects and the writing were my favorite parts of the story. I do wish the novella could have been a bit longer as we had just begun to get to know our characters when the story ended. I like the combination of having one paranormal character while the other is completely human. It made for an interesting combination. I found the sunstone plot to be intriguing and am interested to see how it plays out in the next story.
All in all, I think these will be a great little series of novellas that I look forward to checking out....more

(So far!) Possessed by a Dark Warrior has been wildly anticipated by myself and other fans of the series since book one. I believe it was well worth the wait. Felicity's writing gets better with every book she releases. The characters and worlds she creates are some of the best in the paranormal romance genre. I love how vivid and captivating every moment is- whether it's an intense battle scene or a tender love scene.
This installment of the series is larger than the last few stories and I really enjoyed that. We got to spend more time with the characters, watching them change and evolve and learning more about them. Because of this, the characters themselves- Bleu and Taryn- are one of my favorite parts of the book. They're so complex with such a fascinating history between them. It was wonderful to watch their story unfold.
Like with all of the author's other paranormal tales, there are heaping doses of romance and action. This is another reason I was glad the book was longer. These aspects are allowed to flow while the reader gets to enjoy them fully. This allowed for the pacing to work wonderfully. Everything is drawn out to the perfect point and nothing is rushed or cut short. The ending is perfect and left me with a smile.
This series is a must read for all paranormal romance fans. I would recommend starting from the beginning of the series as character crossovers happen a lot within the series, though I don't think it would be completely necessary....more

Sustained was the first book I read by Emma Chase. Therefore, Jake and Chelsea have always been my favorite couple. It wasn't just that I read their story first. It was because their story was so profound, so touching- that it stayed with me for a long time and will always be one of my favorites. When I found out about this novella, I was beyond excited to get another glimpse of them and the kids.
Jake is still super swoon-worthy. Even more so in Sidebarred. There is something so beautiful about a man that loves his woman unconditionally and is unafraid to show it. Chelsea is as spunky as ever and all of the kids are back in their full glory. The humor they added into the story was delightful.
Though heavily centered on Jake and Chelsea, we do get a glimpse of the rest of the Legal Briefs gang. It was a wonderful way to catch up with all of them and a get a deeper look into their happy endings. The story is wonderfully written and romantic. I shed a few tears at the conclusion because I was overwhelmed with happiness. What a wonderful way to add to and end the series. Never before has a novella left me feeling so satisfied. Though I am sad that it is over, I am excited for the many rereads that will occur in the future.
I highly recommend this novella to fans of The Legal Briefs series. ...more
