She takes quotes from different books and shows the reader why it worked or didn't and she explains the whole synopsis and query aspect. Although best advice I ever rec'd regarding queries was at Pub Rants. That's here nor there. Anway I would recommend it!(less)

It took the basic myths surrounding vampires and broke them down into regions. THen explained why the stories were formed and how each country added to each myth. Then in the back of the book it discussed other creatures such as werewolves and demons very interesting in the historical sense. I do recommend it for a different take on vampires *g*(less)

Other than that it had the same stuff every other book on writing has and I am glad I checked it out before buying. Read it if you haven't read any other help books otherwise borrow it for the section mentioned.(less)

I did enjoy the last half of the book that is written by an agent on what they expect and what a writer's job is. They had some good points the first half is written by a published author and she gave the typical show don't tell speeches. If you are going to look at this book look at the last half. There are pleanty of other books out there that would help with characterization and what not. (less)

I especially like how he breaks the process of making/discovering your own planet and how to make the rules and how to make the story interesting.
