She even buys the empty store front next door that was originally part of the bookstore. Little did she know that she also aquired the ghost of PI Jack Shepard who was murdered in the bookstore in the late 1940's. But when famous author Timothy Brennan drops dead during a book signing at the store, Pen will happy that the extra voice in her head belongs to a Private Detective.
This is the first book in the Haunted Bookshop Mystery series. It is lots of fun. Mixing a modern woman with an old-time Sam Spadeish detective is a great idea. I like the quirky small town characters and her aunt Sadie is a hoot. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.(less)

But progress is stalled by the presence of two ghosts, Maxie and Paul who were murdered in the house. They want Alison to solve their murders, and when Alison starts getting threats, she tries to do just that.
This book is a great start to the series. Alison is just snarky enough and Melissa is a charning character. The mystery is very good. The ghosts and other characters are fun too. I am looking forward to the next book.(less)

In Victorian London, Violet has been helping her mother stage fake seances for years. She does not enjoy it, but she has no where to go so she does it, despite guilty feelings. So there really is no bigger skeptic than Violet. But on a trip to a country house for a set of seances at a country house, Violet starts feeling and seeing creepy things. Once at the estate, it only gets worse as Violet starts seeing ghosts all around her and one in particular, the desperate ghost of a young girl who was murdered.
WOW, I LOVED this book. It is creepy and clever and sweet. I thought the descriptions of the society in Victorian England were spot on. I also liked the links to the Spiritualist movement of the time. Violet is a likeable character as are her friends, Elizabeth and Colin. There is a sweet story of growing love that does not overshadow the ghost story. Violet's mother is a perfect wicked woman with no redeeming characteristics at all. The ghosts are all sorts, scary, funny and furry. I loved this book so much that I was willing to forgive the use of the word "snuck" on more than one occasion. This book is suitable for tweens as well as teens. Anyone who likes a nice historical ghost story should enjoy this book.(less)

You see, Sadie can see and talk to the dead. She can also help them cross over to where ever they are supposed to go. But at this new assignment, Sadie and co-worker Zach are surprised to find a baby, a dead goat and a ghost right out of hell. Looks like they interupted a satanic ceremony, and that is just the beginning.
I enjoyed this second book in the Ghost Duster mystery series a lot. There was more family and ghosts and less icky stuff. (Crime scene clean up is not pretty). The story moved fast and I liked the characters and family feel. This is not a traditional cozy, but had more of a cozy feel than the first one for sure.(less)

But her father was a cemetery caretaker who could also see ghosts and she grew up loving the atmosphere of cemeteries. Her father taught her to never acknowledge the ghosts and they could not harm her. But when her expertise is called on by the police she is forced to work with the charming policeman, John Devlin, who is super-haunted. As more bodies turn up in the cemetery she is working on, Amelia is drawn further into the investigation and closer to the mysterious Devlin.
I enjoyed this book. I love Charleston and have been there many times. The descriptions and the people were very pure Charleston. I also love ghost stories and this one gave me a couple of chills. And I must admit that cemeteries hold a fascination for me and I have visited many of the old Charleston graveyards. I enjoyed Amelia's family and found her relationship with them endearing. There were a couple of things that sort of made me crazy. Amelia seems to a a bit whiney at times. Of course she is in a stressful situation but geez, if you are going to keep getting involved, grow a pair already. I also thought the story was a slow start. However, the mystery really got interesting and the mystery about her family is left hanging deliciously. So I ended up with 4 stars and looking forward to the next book.(less)

(Long Story). Anyway, she gets to New Mexico and the adventure begins. In typical Pepper fashion, nothing goes right except meeting the hunky police officer, Jesse. Other than that, the bodies are piling up and just when she needs them most, Pepper can no longer talk to her ghosts.
This series is so much fun. Pepper is a classic chick lit heroine who is slowly realizing that there is more to life (and death) than shoes. (Maybe). The change of location works and the mystery is good. I really like Jesse. I hope we get to hear from him again.(less)

She is also a medium who has been seeing ghosts since she was a child. When she visits Nevin Vanderhorst in his prime historic house on Tradd Street, Melanie fails lto get a listing, but in a short time she learns that Mr Vanderhorst has passed away and left her the house and a trust to restore the aging beauty. You see, Mr Vanderhorst know that Melanie saw the ghost of his mother in the garden and he wants her to solve the mystery of his mother's disappearance when he was a small boy. With the assistance of a hunky writer who is also interested in the disappearance of Mrs Vanderhorst, and a crew of friends and family, Melanie moves into the aging house, ghosts and all.
I truly enjoyed this book. Charleston is one of my favorite cities and I visited it many times when I lived in South Carolina. This book really captures Charleston and the people of Charleson. I loved the mystery and the ghosts. I also enjoyed the secondary characters who were really lots of fun.(less)

Melanie's mother has returned to Charleston after many years and Melanie has her feelings of desertion to deal with as well as an evil ghost who is out to do in her and her mother. Melanie continues to deny her attraction to the hunky Jack Trenholm although the current mystery in her life, the identity of a body recently found in a shipwreck, keeps pushing them together. All together great fun set in one of my all-time favorite cities. Enjoy!(less)

Well, it does not take Alison long to find out that the lady is alive and kicking. Well, she is until she attends a seance at Alison's guest house, anyway. Now Alison has a murder in her house (again).
This series is lots of fun. Alison and her daughter, Melissa, are funny and charming. The resident ghosts are real characters. The mystery here is pretty good and has a nice twist. Alison is just a bit snarky, not over the top. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.(less)

They are supposed to be on vacation, but Rebecca has already been contacted by a spirit doomed to travel between NYC and New Orleans for all time unless someone finds the locket he lost and returns it to its rightful owners. Rebecca is determined to help but she is not the only one interested in the locket. And to make things worse, old grudges raise their heads and threaten Rebecca and those she loves.
I really liked this book. I am a sucker for books set in New Orleans. I think you really get a taste of New Orleans in this book. I also love books about ghosts so that is another plus. This book does an excellent job of showing that teens can make a difference in the world. Not only with the other-worldly, but also in practical day-to-day living. Rebecca and Ling are on vacation but they spend part of there time volunteering. Something I probably would not do if I had a week in NOLA. But working with the locals just adds to the flavor of the area. This book would be good for teens and tweens. There is just a touch of romance to keep things interesting.(less)

As this book begins, Pepper is back working at the cemetery and has been promoted. The job is pretty demanding but Pepper soon finds that there are plenty of ghostly inhabitants of the cemetery who are dying (yes a pun) to do something. Pepper is more than willing to accept their help because she and Quinn are finally back together, sort of. And of course the ghost of a man who was murdered is haunting her. But this ghost is bound and gagged, so getting information from him is really difficult. And he was drowned, so he leaves puddles everywhere. Ick. Pepper is trying to get a big donation from a local big wig with a Superman obsession and as soon as she meets him, a Pepper obcession. And there is a comic book convention coming to town. Oh, just lots of stuff.
This book was really fun. I am glad that Pepper and Quinn are back together even though he can be a butthead. And there are several surprises in this book. No, I want it to be a surprise. Anyway, you know you want to read it. Oh, did you know that Superman was created in Cleveland? I had no idea.(less)

Kath Rutledge has come to Blue Plum, TN to attend her beloved grandmother, Ivy's funeral and to settle Ivy's business since she is the sole heir. She is in for a lot surprises during her visit including that she has lost her job, and her grandmother was being blackmailed. She also discovered that her sweet granny is a suspect in a murder. As she tries to solve the mysteries surrounding her grandmother she becomes acquainted or reacquainted with many of the residents of Blue Plum. She also meets her first ghost.
Hmmm, it took me a while to get into this book. However, once it got going I enjoyed it. The only issue that I still have is that the reasons for blackmail seemed pretty lame to me. Anyway, the characters were fun and the mystery was pretty good. Loved the ghost. I will read the next in the series.(less)

Charlotte is an ordinary New York teenage girl just waiting on her subway home when someone pushes her and BAM she is dead. But she is floating on a cloud in heaven, instead she is in an invisible hotel in NYC with a bunch of other dead teens. Now Charlotte has to solve her murder before she can pass on.
This book was fun. It was interesting to see how Charlotte reacts to being dead and the things she discovers while she is trying to solve the murder. I would definitely read another book. It was sort of left hanging so I expect s new murder victim and a new book.(less)

Following the devastation of his previous BAU team, Jackson Crow is assigned a new and secret unit to investigate the death of a Louisiana state senator's wife. The catch? The senator is convinced that his wife was killed by a ghost.
I enjoyed this book and will be reading more in the series. I am a sucker for anything set in New Orleans and ghosts just add to the fun. It was not the best book on ghost hunting that I have ever read but it was introducing characters and that always slows the first book in a series down. And it could have been a tiny bit scarier. But all in all a fun way to pass a few nights.(less)

Grace Alban returns to childhood home for her mother's funeral and to settle family business. Grace has not been back to Alban House for almost 20 years but not much has changed. But when a long presumed dead relative appears at the funeral with a reporter, Grace decides that she needs to put all the family ghosts to bed. She discovers that task is bigger and more dangerous than she could have guessed.
I enjoyed this book. I love a good ghost story and this book though short on ghosts definitely has a creepy vibe. I like the setting and the characters. Grace and her daughter are a nice pair. The loyal servants are also interesting characters. And the love interest/minister is pretty hunky.(less)
