However, if I was being honest, I felt a little bit letdown by this book. Just 'a little bit'. Don't get me wrong here, it was still a great read (a really great read!) and I enjoyed reading the book, but I found that the plot twists and turns weren't exactly what I was expecting or rather 'wanting' or rather nothing was THAT surprising to me. Not to mention I thought the characters who died in this book did not leave me feeling too much emotion - mostly because I wasn't all that attached to them. The last death only affected me because of a certain character's reaction to it but yeah . . . I don't know . . . the evil part of me wanted a MAJOR character to die or something along those lines which I did not get unfortunately.
Now with the characters on the other hand, I still very much like Emma a lot (even though I still don't understand her actions sometimes) and especially Mark (who I really, really like even though I don't like Cristina very much and their whole relationship thing that evolves over the course of the series). But I think the only character that I was a little bit disappointed with was mostly Julian's character. Now I love Julian's character but now in this book . . . Oh poor little Julian . . . sigh.
Julian is kind of the character you are supposed to like and you WANT to love him so badly and forget his faults but sometimes those faults creep back up and you don't like his character sometimes. I guess you can say Julian is a very complex character and you can love and dislike him sometimes. While I've always LOVED Julian's beautiful connection with Emma and the relationship they share (whether it's in friendship or in the romance department) and I understand why he is so obsessed with Emma for reasons that we already know, but sometimes you don't want to trust him completely. Sure, while I like his unpredictable side because you're unsure what he will do next . . . but yeah . . . I just hope Julian gets better as a character in the next book but considering what happened at the end of this one . . . who knows what Julian will do next and maybe his much darker side is here to stay. This is very likely in my opinion. Of course I love his dark side and it'll be interesting to explore because he is a little anti-hero which is always a favourite of mine . . . but I just hope Julian doesn't do anything stupid in the next book. But knowing Julian he probably will and Emma will probably have to do something about that. Sigh. Oh Julian . . . he is such a tormented soul. I just hope for the character's sake that Emma and Julian get an ending they deserve (no matter if they end up together or not at all) because they have really been through a whirlwind in this particular book and oh the ANGST between them. Sigh. The one thing Cassandra Clare is very good at writing is . . . all that angst.
Overall, I liked this book. It wasn't perfect but I liked it. While I was disappointed in some areas of the book but mostly with the ending which was not shocking to me nor did it have a BIG cliffhanger like I wanted or thought I was going to get, but this sequel was still an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to the next book even though we can't get it until 2019....more

I mean, really? Why bother writing a long review (with words that can't match my FEELS at this very moment) about this awesome series with its awesome story with its awesome characters when I can just simply say to you all, especially those who have yet to read this book or this series so far . . .
