I am a die-hard Austen fan and, no matter how cliche and trite that may sound to others, I will never be cured and no one will ever be able to beat it out of me! I am a sucker for her love stories!(less)

I remember being so reluctant to read this when I was assigned it in my accelerated English class in high school. I freely admit to being scared of the dark and absolutely terrified of spook alleys. (It's pitiful, I know). Anyway, I ended up loving the story, the suspense, and the mystery. Dracula quickly became one of my favorite subjects (thank you Twilight!) and I am drawn to books about vampires--something about the sexiness of vampire horror I think. Anyway, thanks also to my friend Bonnie for suggesting the book I'm addicted to now--The Historian. She didn't tell me anything about it just that I would love it. And, I was pleasantly surprised that it was about Dracula and vampires!! I'll let you know how much I like it when I'm through, but I would highly reccomend it if you loved Bram Stoker's book.(less)

My eighth grade English professor Mr. Robbins read this book to us in class. His reading style was so animated--I can still see some of his facial expressions and how hard the entire class laughed. It was such a magical experience--that book will "live in infamy" in my mind. The movie is a pretty accurate portrayal as well (and who doesn't love a good movie with Gregory Peck in it?)(less)

After I finished, I was surprised that he recommended it . A bit graphic, but expected because it is about a glorified prostitute. Beautiful love story if you can get past all of the deception and infidelity on the part of the husbands who sponsor these girls.(less)

The book is written from the point-of-view of a murdered girl who is watching the events that follow her death and how they affect their family. Leaves you very sad and a melancholy fog followed me around for a couple of days.(less)

There is a scene in the book that will forever be with me and it's very disturbing. If you read it, skip the part at the club (?? I can't remember what the place is called, but you will know it when you read it) that they go to. It is very explicit sex and beastiality--horrible. There was no reason for it to be in there other than just gratuitousness on the side of the author.(less)

I am definitely on the optimistic side of the story and I believe that the Tiger really was on the boat. By the way, although interesting, the first 75 pages or so on Zoos is not very exciting. Get through that and on to the real story and you won't be able to put it down.(less)

What a genius Stephenie Meyer is. This series is addicting and everyone (save a few unmentionable people!) becomes quickly obsessed with the plot and the characters. Speaking of characters, these are well developed personalities here. You really feel like you know the characters and you become attached quickly--even married women (including myself) become irrationally in love with a vampire named Edward. If you have any romantic bones in your body--READ THIS!!
