It turned out that I was wrong. I was really surprised at the equality of the characters. As other reviewers have mentioned, in this type of story there is usually a jealousy angle or a lack of equal footing with the characters, so to speak. I immediately fell in love with Matthew. And I loved Richard. Luke was....... so-so......... in the beginning anyway. Though his behavior was the entire point of the story so I grew to like his character as well.
There were a couple of things that I thought were too much. Yes, I know the entire point of the story was sex pretty much. I get that. But it seemed to me that sometimes the timing was wrong. Meaning that when one of the guys was mad or hurt or upset (or whatever) it was straight to the bedroom (or dining room table, or basement) or wherever. Don't get me wrong. It was sexy as hell. But it seemed to me that it was too much at times.
Another thing was Luke's dad. Considering that he was the root of all of Luke's problems, I felt that there should have been more details written about him. Not just the few snippets thrown in to show why Luke was upset and living his life the way he was. Also, Luke's mom. She spent 15 years having nothing to do with her son, but suddenly she was forgiven after a short conversation? Not sure how I feel about that.
Then there was the climax to the story: Taking down Dad. I liked the way it all came together with the way that Luke tripped him up and got him on tape. BUT.......... Dad was depicted as a total domineering control freak throughout the book. But when Luke brought up Conner, he suddenly confessed to his gay son that he had been in love with him? This, coming from the person who had made Luke's life miserable because of his lifestyle. Suddenly it's confess time? I am always bothered by books that do that.
I really liked the book and I really didn't expect to. I was surprised at an actual love story being in this type of book. Normally it's sex, sex, sex and nothing else. And not only was it a love story, the author actually made this type of relationship seem plausible. And the way the author put the 3 characters together was really good. I will definitely read more by Sloan Parker.(less)

I fell in love with Justin immediately. I love when a story starts out good right off the bat. The way Justin introduced himself to Kevin on the street............ priceless.
I never got bored during any of the book, which is basically unheard of. I liked Kevin's character "okay" but it didn't come close to Justin. Justin was hilarious.
It takes a lot for me to say I loved a book. I can usually find tons of things wrong with ANY book I read. Though this was tongue-in-cheek, and totally not realistic, it was still a good, fun read.

This is the third Jet Mykles story that I have read and they all have had the same thing in them: One guy is gay. The other guy is straight (or thinks he is). The straight guy then suddenly decides that wow, he just may be gay after all! Even though he's never been with another man. He's never wanted to be with another man. But suddenly this attractive gay man comes along and "Wow! I'm gay now!" Okay, I know the sarcasm is wrong but c'mon.
I didn't hate this story. I didn't love this story. I just feel that it needed more depth. I understand it was meant to be a short story. But even in short stories, there should be SOME type of depth to it.
I will continue to read her books. I do like the characters in them, even if I do think that some of the stories are a bit much.(less)

It was just two friends discovering each other and their relationship. I would probably rate it higher had the author taken the time to better explain things at the end. As I said, too rushed.(less)

Not this one.
Hmmmm.... 3 friends. 1 is bisexual. 2 are "supposedly" completely straight. But suddenly after a game of truth or dare and some totally ridiculous talk of acting out a scene of a m/m story (that one of the straight guys is trying to write) suddenly they are all three on the floor playing out the scene. With very little awkwardness on the part of the two straight guys. Oh, and then they make their way to a hot tub where they all three get down and dirty............ again, no awkwardness from the two straights. Two totally straight guys jumping into it that quick? I've read books where it has happened but none that were this bad.
I'm glad it was a very short story. But as short as it was, I still almost stopped mid way.

And Adam's shyness seemed to disappear too quickly as well.
I loved everything until that. Good story. Quick read.(less)

Most m/m books are all about sex, with very little substance to them. Not Sloan's. I came across "More" by accident a few weeks ago. I was very iffy about reading a book of this type that was so long. I'm glad I did. After I read that (and totally loved it) I couldn't wait to read "Breathe".
There is sex in this book (duh!) but there is such a heartwarming story to go with it. You immediately feel for the characters and you wonder throughout the book if and how everything can come together in a good way. Not only is it done the correct way, it is done in such a way that you feel good about the way it ended.
I've read tons of books over the years. It's very rare to find an author who can take such an unusual subject and make it seem realistic. She did that with More and Breathe and her short stories.
Breathe is sad in some parts, which would normally turn me off from a book. Not this time because I knew that only this author could make it all come together so well.
I can't wait to read more from Sloan Parker. She is (by far) my new favorite.(less)

But it's difficult to focus on the story when you have to see exclamation points in every other sentence, the word cowboy constantly and Blue Eyes almost as much. To me, that just got annoying. It completely took away from the entire book. I've noticed this type of thing in other books of this nature as well and that kept me from being overly fond of those as well.(less)

I have actually read this story several times since I discovered it way back when. This is the first time I have had the pleasure of reading the graphic version. This was my first m/m story. At the time I picked it up the first time, I had no idea that not only would I enjoy Zathyn Priest's work (all of it) but that I would become such a huge fan.
I have become such a fan of this author that I annoy the hell out of people when I recommend his books over and over. My "Read the books and I'll stop bugging you" usually works.... and then he ends up with more fans... :)
I would say that this is the classic enemies to lovers story but it's really not. Ric bullied Alex to the point of putting him in the hospital when they were in high school. Years later Ric is a patient at the Chiropractic clinic where Alex works with his father. Alex's day starts out with every little thing going wrong. Seeing Ric again (after many years) is the icing on the cake.... Alex thinks. It only gets worse from there.
This is laugh out loud funny and you can't help but feel for the characters... both of them. Even Ric.
It was just as good this time as the other times I've read it. Only this go 'round I had the pleasure of being able to see Zathyn's amazing art as well. His talent always amazes me. I've yet to read (or see) anything he's done that I did not absolutely love. There is no doubt that I will be reading this again in the near future.

A curse that has completely taken over his life. Only one person is allowed close to him and that's Artie, a police detective and friend/protector. A serial killer has his sights on Greg and is using his ability to get to him in the worst possible way. As the killings are being investigated by Artie, the killer has upped the ante and is slowly bringing Greg into his dangerous world.
Artie and Greg are perfect together. They go from being long-time friends to lovers and the way this is done is nice. The star of the book, however, is Duke. Duke is Artie's psychotic cat and I smiled every time his name was mentioned.
Overall, I enjoyed this. However, I did have some issues with the dialogue and sentence structure that were entirely too similar to another book that I DNF'd awhile back. Also, there are minor editing issues throughout.

I have issues with any book that has a character say "I love you" right off the bat. By having Lucas do this, it made his character look weak, even though he came across otherwise as a tough-man type boss.
Cooper was wishy-washy. While I liked his character "OK" he didn't stand out to me.
This story was very unique. I've read stories where this type of thing happens via email, facebook, etc., but not with 2 truckers finding love via CB radios.
I totally fell in love with both lead characters. Elliott was the broody type, where Jimmy was a fun loving, easy going guy.
Everything about this book was good to me. I especially loved where each character had guilt when they were together....... before they realized who it was they were actually with. While the sex was hot, it wasn't simply about the sex. Each character had feelings that were shown throughout the story.
