I had forgotten that I had entered the giveaway, and it truly made my day. There's not many times when I win things like this, so I was grateful to be able to read a proof of this before it was released. Lisa Schroeder is one of my favorite authors, so I was truly excited to see what she wrote.
I will not lie. It is a bit of a cliche story. It is one of those young adult romance-y novels that is about a cliche teenage romance. The popular guy chasing after the new, "weird" girl. I say weird because she really is not, but people who do not know her make her out to be that. If you're like me though, you'll love this new novel by Schroeder. The book is written in verse (Lauren) and in prose(Colby). It is different from Schroeder usual in verse style, which is actually awesome, because you can see how talented she is to go between the two styles yet create a full and flowing story.
I really loved the plot line. Although, Colby's was a little too overdone because it's just the stereotypical white male story line in a story that involves sports and parents pressuring their children to live out their glory days through them. I did not like that aspect of Colby's plot line, but Benny made it thousands of times better. He brought more like to Colby and showed how close they truly are.
Lauren annoyed me a little bit especially towards the end...I'm not going to spoil it for you. She was a bit of a nuisance, but I also loved her character because it balanced Colby. Her aunt and uncle are so sweet, but I wish they would have been more involved in Lauren's life before the ending. That's just my personal preference, but it did work for the story itself.
Overall, I really liked the book. Lisa Schroeder definitely did not disappoint with this one. I'm giving it four stars due to the problems that I explained, but otherwise, I loved it and would most likely read it again.(less)

I also ship her with Julian, but I think she'll end up with Alex even if it seems like his heart has become stone. I felt bad for Lena, and I was really mad at Raven and Tack after that whole faux pas. But, Lena and her mother. I did not expect it to happen that way. I just...I'm unable to even. I can't wait for the third and final book in this trilogy. The suspense is killing me, Lauren Oliver!(less)
