The whole concept of an arranged mating was different than what I've read, also the whole alpha mating with an alpha, as well. I can see the difficulties they'll still face, being both in charge of the pack and undoubtedly having others look at them and wonder which one is actually in charge.
I loved the angst and unconfessed feelings of the pair, though Bennett definitely had the tougher time adjusting to how he acted in the past and trying to make it fit into the mold of the alpha. He made my heart ache in all his insecurities and hidden fears. Marsdon was a great character, too, so strong and in charge in the first scene and then so loving and yearning when Bennett became his mate, despite a situation that he could have turned around into something completely different. His pain in watching Bennett prove himself to the pack jumped right off the page for me. I loved the pairing and my only faltering with the book was wanting to know more about their day to day life after they'd finally settled the whole master/pup thing. Will they be able to show affection in front of others or would that show some weakness from one of them and deem them not a real alpha again? I'd just really like to know how the dynamics will work from here on. I know there's another book coming out, based on another pairing so I'm hoping the alphas will make an appearance and answer some of my questions. :) As a side note, I loved, loved, loved the matching scars.

This is the first book I've read by Mary and I really enjoyed her writing style. I loved Jin - he was a great quirky, intelligent character and put together with Logan - just totally hot. I liked that he didn't completely conform to his mate's rules and ways, just enough to show he was where he should be and was happy to be there. He'd been through so much already - so many trust issues and abandonment, not to mention abuse, but now I think Logan will take good care of him. Logan, himself, was so likable and displayed a lot of emotion compared to other alpha shifters I've read, and yeah, I really liked those qualities in him. I've never read any shifters except wolves so panthers was a nice and interesting change.(less)

It has all the elements of a great romance - plenty of angst, hurt, comfort, misunderstanding, drama and most of all love. I loved the way the boys marked each other, how they both postulated what the other "must" be thinking and feeling. Together these two wolves are a force to be reckoned with and I can't see anything stand in the way of their bond. I'm hoping the author is going to let us see a little more of them if this indeed becomes a series.(less)
