In fact to take a break from thinking I read another book and then went back to Poe's writings. I did find them quite a marvel of his time. I can imagine how people of his time saw those writings as bewitching and scary. And mostly likely called him crazy for writing them.

"The Insider" by Reece Hirsch is amazing. I love a good suspense/thriller/mystery book. This book doesn't disappoint. Reece takes us on a journey through Will Connelly's life as it becomes upside down once he sees a co-worker fall off the building he works in. There are quite a few lines that will have you laughing. He details it so well I could envision being there with Will. This is a must read if you like thrillers.
Reece Hirsch writes a entertaining thriller that is well written and thought out. It had a great pace while keeping you hooked and wanting to read more and more. He kept the suspense up through the whole book. I myself was not able to put the book down. Reece writes the type of book I love. Thrillers. It was a great honor to read "The Insider" by Reece and I was lucky enough that my copy was autographed! Thanks to GoodReads and Reece Hirsch for this wonderful Thriller. It will remain on my bookshelf forever. I give this 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book on pilgrimage that I've ever read. Charles Foster had me laughing and thinking throughout this whole book. It took me a long time to finish because it made me aware of myself and my beliefs. Something that no book has ever done.
The Sacred Journey by Charles Foster is well written. I was not bored with this book in fact the opposite is true. His writing style is bold and blunt, something you might need to keep an open mind about. This book is about the journey of man, religion and pilgrimage. He writes throughout the book about different belief systems and how they involve pilgrimage. He shares his own personal experiences with pilgrimage and explains his ideas about the importance of going on pilgrimage.
However, I found it a bit confusing and hard to follow at times, but that I think had a lot to do with me and not the book itself. This topic is not something I would think would be easy to explain or discuss in a book. This being the seventh in the series of books. This is a book that makes you think. With that being said, I say read this book and then read it again. Maybe use the suggested reading in the book for a better understanding of pilgrimage. By reading this book Charles Foster has made me want to be more aware and understand what pilgrimage is all about. (less)

Vickie Hinze creates a suspense filled tale that keeps you hooked, you will not want to put this book down! I loved how the characters were portrayed in this book. Deadly Ties is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the second book in the series, and some things in this story won't be entirely clear unless you've read the first ~ Forget Me Not. With that being said go get Forget Me Not you will not regret it. I must say I really liked this book and would recommend this for your reading list. Even if you haven't read Forget Me Not you will still be able to keep up with this storyline which has a nice blend of romance and suspense. I would have given this 5 stars had it not been for the fact that Anne, Lisa's mother in the book stayed with an abusive man for so long. Coming from my background ~ My father was abusive ~ that part of the book made me cringe. But I still liked the references to God and that there was nothing "dirty" about the romance. I think this would be a great read for a young adult. I give this 4/5 stars.
Author Bio:
Vicki Hinze is an award-winning author of more than twenty novels (including Forget Me Not), three nonfiction books, and hundreds of articles. This is a beautiful book for children. This book touches on praying for your child. Easy to read and beautiful illustrated by Mark Elliott. My daughters 10 and 6 loved this book. This Little Prayer of Mineengages childern to open up to God with their fears, worries, joys and more. I loved the beautiful illustrations in the book and my 6 can read it with ease. I think This Little Prayer of Mine could be a starting point for talking about God and his love for us with your children/child. I know it is helping my 6 year old understand more about God. It helps me on my child's level of understand God. This Little Prayer of Mine is great to get the understand from a child's mind. At their young age it's hard to know what they do or don't understand and this book is not confusing at all. I give it 5/5 stars.

I’m a huge fan of romance/erotica novels and this was my first experience reading an Olivia Cunning’s novel in this genre. “Rock Hard“is the second in the “Sinners on Tour” series and was a truly fantastic find! Although second in a series, the first of which I have yet to read, but soon will,I found this book to be everything one could hope for in novel of this type.
The main characters of “Rock Hard“are Sed,the lead singer of a band named “Sinners” and Jessica,an aspiring attorney working her way through school working as a stripper. Having broken up two years previously their relationship is explosively rekindled when Sed visits the club where Jessica is working.
Initially readers will find Sed to come across as a total jerk, but as the story progresses you realize that he is hurting from previously bad experiences and is acting out in negative ways in a vain attempt to calm his inner turmoil. Jessica too,is having her own growing pains. Despite her plans of becoming an attorney, she struggles to effectively express her own feelings and finds it hard to find her own voice. The stubbornness on both their parts leads to much head butting and consternation that the two must deal with in order to maintain balance in their relationship.
The main selling point of this book however has to be the passion and romance seen throughout the book. Sed serenades Jessica, which is a personal fantasy of my own,and I consider this to be one of the most romantic scenes and one that most women can relate to. The book is full of steamy scenes that left you wanting for more and Olivia doesn’t disappoint in this department. I found this book almost impossible to put down and I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
I can honestly say I am an Olivia Cunning’s fan and I know after reading “Rock Hard“you will too.(less)

I would like to thank Author Artie Van Why for the chance to review this book. I remember that day as none other I have in my entire life. The attack of those towers that sat across the bridge from me was gone and the smoke was heading my way. I cried,I was angry and confused. I saw it all. I appreciate the fact that Artie Van Why wrote this book. It is a rememberence of what happened that day.
In a few weeks it will be 10 years since it has happened. I do think this book should be used as a rememberence of that day. I also think that if you are expecting much from it don’t. Not only is it short about 84 pages but it tells more of a tale of post turmatic stress then the actual event itself.
I think a lot of us remember that day as one we will never forget. My brother was on a subway to the WTC that day. One of his friends perished that day. One of my husbands friends was in the building that day and was lucky enough to escape. Artie was lucky also and feels he must tell his story and for that I say thank you. Thank you for giving us something to remember. For all those lives that were lost and people we should remember.

I loved some of the crazy things that Zee & Zoey did. It was great to read about life with cats and how they change us and bring us so much joy. We are animal people and love both cats and dogs. My kids also like the beautiful pictures and we read some of this book together. Deborah did a fantastic job on this. I loved the pictures. I can’t gush enough about them. The whole book is just beautiful! The book does stir up lots of emotions in you. You laugh. You cry. I loved how Deborah takes us through life’s journey of kids, love, hardship and of course her cats. I think any animal lover out there would love this book. It is great to share even with the kids. They will be amazed at the pictures. If you want a heart felt journey I suggest you pick up a copy of this book. I give The Chronicles of Zee & Zoey by Deborah Barnes 4.5 of 5 stars.(less)

I didn’t like how they spent so much time apart but at the turn of the century that is how it was. Julia was almost killed in a fire at the Ranch she was staying at with Paul. They have to spend this time apart because Paul has to find the cattle that was lost because of that fire. As the book progressed it got better and better and they finally get to be with each other again. Julia finally gets to marry Paul like she has dreamed about. She leaves behind an easy life to be with Paul because she loves him. They have many struggles to endure because of being Mormon. Even people Paul has known for years treat him differently when they find out his beliefs. There are references to sex through the book but it’s still a clean romance. Overall, I would say this is a good romance book. The underlining of the book is God, faith and love. I give Enduring Light by Carla Kelly 3.5 of 5 stars.(less)

We are taken on a journey of fathers and their sons. Matt who is the father of Micheal who has allegedly killed his girlfriend. Micheal and Matt don’t get along. Matt’s ex-wife Debra is at fault. Matt is a defense attorney and is trying to find out why Micheal is accused of murdering his girlfriend. What a thrilling ride the whole way. Matt is a semi likable character although I never felt like I particularly liked him in the book. I still liked the story. This has some political messages in it. All of which I enjoyed. I felt more for Micheal then any of the characters in the book. I understood why he was mad all the time. Jade – Matt’s ex-girlfriend and becoming girlfriend again spills her secret to Matt on why they broke up and then Matt spills his secret. Matt to me is a hypocrite who I didn’t really care for. In fact I just didn’t like him a lot and felt he need justice himself. I also didn’t like that he felt he should take it upon himself to find and kill who needed killing and with cops who were his friends. I liked the idea of the story and it was really well written, I just didn’t like the characters. I think the author could have created some better main characters. But, because this book could provoke such strong opinions and the author could get me totally involved in his characters and have such a reaction to them. I found his book simply amazing. I give Gods and Fathers by James LePore 4 of 5 stars.(less)

I cried within the first three chapters of the book. That’s how great this is. If any book could get my emotions just wrung out like this, it has to get the highest recommendation I have ever put forth to a book. I have read hundreds of books, but this might be the first, in my memory, that I have ever cried from. That’s how touching and descriptive scenes from this book were. Genevieve has out done herself in this novel. I can’t wait for book two and there will even be more in this series. We are taken through the life of Maggie, a girl from South Carolina that has dreamed of a boy since she was very young. Across miles and oceans. They don’t know each other. They have never met, yet in their dreams they do. Maggie has the gift of sight. She is able to see things that are going to happen or are happening. Yet, it doesn’t let her see everything. She can not read everything in her own future but she does get flashes of things that will happen and to the people around her. We are lead through some HORRIFIC occurrences in her life and her growing up and becoming a woman. Then we watch as the man Maggie has dreamed about helps her in ways that are so surreal. She also helps him in his times of need. I loved how they did this for each other. Helping each of them give strength and love to one and other was just magical. I don’t even feel like I can give this book the justice it deserves. It’s just that great. It’s a wonderful and imaginative tale of strength, honor and above all else true love. I HIGHLY recommend getting a copy of this book. I give Under the Same Sky by Genevieve Graham 5 or 5 stars and is another of my 2012 favorites!(less)

Caileigh is a dancer at a club. She is trying to make money and get over her past in foster homes. As we know foster care only takes care of you for so long. Now she’s on her own and trying to make money to gain a better life. This is the best way for her to do it. Not the best job but one she needs in order to survive. She has never had sex and this causes demons to come after her. It’s a purity of heart, mind and body that attracts them. All the things Caileigh posses. Orias is the only one that can protect her from the demons. Orias knows he’s on dangerous ground with Caileigh because she temps him in ways that could make him lose his immortality. But of course they can’t help it. Love is love and it’s going to get them. Some parts of the book had me a bit confused and for a short novella Mahalia did explain it in the end where you understood. This is the first one night stand book I have ever read and I am so glad I did. I will be looking for more from Mahalia Levey. I enjoyed this story and for a quick read it was well worth it. I also love stories that have fallen angels in them. Great read!(less)

I certainly felt that this could happen in my neighborhood, right under my nose and I would never know. Clark moves back home to live with his mother, who is going crazy if that is what you want to call it. We are told the background on his mom and basically she is old and just lost her husband and Clark feels it’s his duty to take care of her now. I agree. Then we get started on this tale of terrorism and government operations. There is a lot of POV switching back and forth between the characters and introduction of new characters thrown in at you. I felt a little lost at some points as the view would switch and then we would get a detailed description of the next persons view. Which is not a bad thing, it just kept throwing me for a loop. I like that the book had some comical moments in it. You even get in the minds of the terrorists and get their POV. This book had a ton of twists and turns in it. I especially loved Mr. Stanley. He was funny and he was suspicious all along. I enjoyed his and Clark’s banter. I enjoyed him in the story tremendously. All in all the book was good. I do think it’s a thrilling read. Lots of mystery and suspense all along in the story. It will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens. I know I sure did. I give Love Thy Neighbor by Mark Gilleo 4 of 5 stars.(less)

If for nothing else but to hear the tale of the pictures themselves. Now, I know that they made up the stories about the pictures and put them in. But, I found myself enthralled with them. Maybe it’s the uniqueness of the photos or how they were displayed in the book but I really, really loved it. We are told a tale passed down by Abe, grandfather of Jacob. He has been telling Jacob all his life about peculiar children that live far away. And as Jacob gets older he’s not sure if he believes these tales. Jacob doesn’t want to feel foolish for believing in them but then he can’t seem to dismiss them either. Jacob was very close to his grandfather and suddenly finds himself dealing with the lose of him and what he seen happening to his grandfather. Jacob is having a hard time dealing with the death of his grandfather and is made to get to see a psychiatrist to help him deal with his loss. We then find ourselves on a journey with Jacob and his father to the island Jacob has been told all about. I found myself thinking what a wonderful experience for him. I was hoping to see a bit more bonding between Jacob and his father but that just never seemed to happen in the book. I also felt that the father didn’t take an active role in Jacob’s life at all. Jacob was a whiny kid and left to his own devices, which I didn’t think was a good thing. I just didn’t feel Jacob himself had much depth. I would have really liked to have the story focused around the grandfather, Abe and felt he had more character then any of the other characters in the book. So that leaves us with Jacob on his own to discover the island by himself and soon discovers the peculiar children he’s been told about and seen pictures of. What a wonderful, exciting trip to this island. I would have liked to have seen Jacob grow a bit in the book but that just didn’t happen. The only part that could be kind of scary was what attacked his grandfather and what came after the kids in the book. All in all, I truly loved the pictures and the explanations in the book and how this all came about. What I didn’t like was some of the relationships in the book. I felt they were lacking in depth and left much to be desired especially in the semi romance that occurs. All in all this was a OK book but the pictures were what kept you turning and reading more about them. I give Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs 3.5 of 5 stars.(less)
