Towards the end though, the writing was more academic and my mind began to drift. Also, though her argument was solid and interesting, some of Faludi's "evidence" seemd like she was reaching. I'm not sure, for instance, that I see the ressurgance of victorian inspired fashions as deeply connected to a backlash against women's rights. I mean, it sounds good doesn't it. But anyone reads the occasional fashion magazine knows that these things are always cycle back "in." (less)

I tend to get bored with a lot of non-fiction where the author just throws fact after fact at you in service of their one argument. But I thought the authors here did a good job of supporting their argument without going on and on for too long.
This was a book club pick and at first everyone was groaning about reading another depressing book. But it's actually very hopeful.(less)
