The story takes readers on a journey through the eyes of people from different walks of life as they uncover hidden and even deadly secrets in a quest to find the truth.
I was extremely impressed with how the author was able to weave fact and fiction to create a powerful story that explores the impact disasters like this can have on people. It was very well developed and had me riveted from page one. The characters were all relatable and it made the stories backdrop even more chilling to easily see yourself in them and made you think of the real survivors and everyday people that were affected by the Chernobyl incident.
The story was engrossing and full of twists and turns that will have any mystery lover on the edge of their seats in anticipation. The plot takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions as you struggle to find the secrets and lies hidden by the characters and find yourself trying to uncover the truth right along with the characters.
A warning this novel is not for the faint of heart as it is graphic and deals with touchy subjects such as rape, but it is dealt with very well. If you are looking for an intense and complex mystery set in historical events this is the book for you. ...more

Explosive new edition to the Alien Mate Index!
I could not put this book down, Evangeline sure knows how to write some hot heroes! The story is fast paced and full of suspense and lots of alien intrigue. I will admit that at first I was a little skeptical at first given how stubborn and stuck in their ways Charlotte and Kristoff were, but by the time they left earth I was hooked and rooting for them both. These two were absolutely perfect for each other and falling in love with them on their rocky journey was the easiest thing in the galaxy.
I also loved the humor and wit in this book. Evangeline's characters always have some hilarious snark and sarcasm and this book definitely delivered in that area! My favorite being Zoe who ends up saying what everyone is thinking and knocks some sense into two VERY stubborn characters.
Final verdict I am hooked on the Alien Mate Index and cannot wait for more stories from this amazing new alien world that Evangeline has created!...more

With beautiful descriptions and exotic locations the author weaves a heart wrenching tale of love and revenge. The author does a wonderful job of setting the tone of the book and showing the growing love between the characters as well as the hurt and betrayal that is felt.
This story led me on an emotional roller coaster and I loved every minute of it. It was hard to put down as there was so much going on between all of the different characters I had to know what would happen next.
The romance was beautifully done and not over the top. The characters were real and had their own problems and failings that they had to deal with before they got their happy ending. I loved the build up to the romance and how the different feelings both good and bad were explored throughout the story.
Luz was a strong heroine who was used to taking care of herself, but she wasn't afraid of strong feelings. I loved her inquisitive nature and that she didn't let anyone stand in her way of finding out the truth. Her relationship with both Leandro and Andres was intense and full of twists and turns. It was easy to get involved with the mystery of these two men and see how Luz could be torn about the two.
This was an intense romance with a good dose of mystery that I would highly recommend....more

The se Vivid and enthralling writing that really brought the story to life. The story was full of intrigue and steamy romance. I couldn't put it down.
The setting for this story really put me in mind of a high society crime thriller, but with the added mix of paranormal elements. Non stop action and tons of twists and turns kept me on my toes until the very last page. The fast paced storyline made it hard to put down.
I really liked the bit of history that was out I to the story it was interesting and helped to add to this books mystique.
Addie has the gift of sight, but she wouldn't necessarily call it a gift. She was a strong character with a lot of depth. I liked her spirit and her ability to see the good in people even when they couldn't see it themselves.
Blake was a great match for Addie as he was confident, smart, an didn't let her get away with hiding her true self. He was mysterious and alluring, everything a hero should be.
The mystery was intriguing and had me guessing for much of the book. I can't wait for the next one to find out more.
This is a top notch crime thriller with an unforgettable romance!...more
This was a fast paced romance that I couldn't put down. We are thrown right into the thick of things frA historical romance full of nonstop adventure.
This was a fast paced romance that I couldn't put down. We are thrown right into the thick of things from page one. The characters are vibrant and the romance was sizzling. The spark between Dariana and William is instant and all encompassing, but this spunky beauty doesn't give in without a fight.
Dariana was a vibrant and firey young woman who didn't take things lying down. Most young ladies her age are all married and have children of their own, but Dariana has been given the gift of choice, until now. Dariana was brave and daring, especially for a woman of her time. I really liked seeing how she handled things. I respected her ability to make choices and deal with the consequences, for better or worse. She wasn't a wilting violet that would cry and bemoan her fate. Instead she took charge and did her best to make her own way.
Her stubborn will and defiant nature really gave William a run for his money. I liked the exchanges between these two, even when they were at each others throats. They really are a match made in heaven and they sure knew how to heat things up.
William was an alpha male through and through. He was at deaths door when he first met Dariana and was taken in at first sight. His determination to find and have her was unstoppable. he pursued Dariana relentlessly and once he had her made sure to protect and cherish her as the woman he loved. William has a stubborn side that matches Dariana, which didn't always work out for him. Luckily, his sister was able to help him when he was being especially pigheaded.
I adored this action packed romance and cannot wait to delve into more of Leslie Hachtel's works. ...more

As an avid fan of fairy tale retellings, I was extremely excited to read Golden and I was not disappointed. The story is set in our world with everyday people. However, there was magic at work, messing with people's lives. One of the things I really liked about this book was that it used the original tales instead of the watered down versions that were told over time. It helped to keep with the original lessons as well as introducing a few of its own. The thing I like most about fairy tales is how they are timeless and even retellings have a few words of wisdom within their pages.
The theme throughout this book was that everything wasn't always so black and white. There was no clear line dividing the villains and the heroes. It also gave a bit of mystery to the story. I love guessing who everyone was and figuring out right alongside Hanna, exactly who the real villains were.
Hanna is a down to earth girl who likes to read fairytales, but doesn't necessarily believe in them. I really liked her level headed nature and the way she always tried to take care of others. She didn't whine bout her misfortunes and instead spent her time trying to find solutions. She also has a bit of sass to her which she lived using in William.
William was an interesting character to et to know as well. He was complex and a little naughty at times, but he had a good heart. One of my favorite aspects about this character was that even hitch he worried about Hanna m, he never once tried to co trip her. He respected her decisions and saw her as the intelligent woman she was, instead of a little girl that needs o be protected from everything.
The idea for his story was really original and I liked how she weaves in all of the different fairytale chapters and gave them more complex personalities. I am really hoping this will continue in into a series, as there are still a lot of characters with stories I would like to get to hear more of. Owen, especially, I would love o ear how his story ends.
If your looking for happily ever after with a twist, check out Golden!...more
Evangeline really knows how to write paranormal romance. The first two books in the "Born to Darkness" seriesVampires, Werewolves, and Demons. Oh My!
Evangeline really knows how to write paranormal romance. The first two books in the "Born to Darkness" series gave us some insight into the different creatures occupying this world and now we get a look into a whole new world inside of it. Taking a trip to hell has never been so hot. One of my favorite things about this authors books are the way she does her world building. Hell, was no exception. I loved how she interwove a lot of different ideas and myths surrounding Hell and the underworld, but still added her own little twist and ideas to the mix. This book was a bit darker than the first two, but it fit perfectly with the theme of the book.
I was also really fond of the small jokes the author added in that served as both foreshadowing and to lighten the mood.
"Actually I live in the part of Hell the ancient Greeks termed Hades," Laish said blandly. "It's quite scenic-I even have a lovely pomegranate tree in my front yard"
Gwendolyn was a really strong heroine and I liked her spunk. She has a tough outer shell, but given her circumstances its understandable. I really liked that she kept her kind heart, even after all of the horrible things she goes through after going through Hell, literally. Gwendolyn doesn't let Laish push her around or manipulate her, but she does give him the benefit of the doubt. The exchanges between her and Laish are always amusing and often steamy.
There is a slow buildup in the romance department, making their relationship seem more realistic. However, there is plenty of passion and sexy moments from the first page to the last. This is one of the things that I love about Evangeline Anderson's books, the way she builds up the anticipation until the best moment possible.
Laish is protective, ruthless, and dominant. He is a true alpha male, but he was not an asshole. I loved Laish he had his faults and didn't always play fair, but he was honest and never tried to suppress or demean Gwendolyn. He did his best to support her and even when it was detrimental to himself, he allowed Gwendolyn to do things at her own pace and in her own way. He is an amazing hero and one of my absolute favorites of the entire series! He also knew just how to get his little witch to give in to temptation.
I cannot wait to see what else this author has in store. You do not want to miss "Ruby Shadows" it is one Hell of a story!...more

The setting for this story was very detailed and complemented the over all tone nicely. The detailed descriptions helped to set the mood and make Okiku seem more real to me. The setting was similar to the grudge and Okiku's agenda eerily similar, but the similarities ended there.
My favorite aspect of this book was that it was being told from the ghosts point of view. This made it all the more horrifying, but also gave us some more depth into the antagonist of the story. In ghost stories we rarely get to hear from the side of the monster. This was an intriguing new way to write a ghost story and give it real depth. I really enjoyed getting to see Okiku's point of view.
Tark brings even more drama to this vigilante ghost's dark world. It was interesting to see how this normally malevolent ghost dealt with Tark. Her whole undead life revolved around eradicating those with evil intentions and this boy had just such a monster living inside him. To see her try to help him and fight her normal instincts to just kill was intriguing.
The storyline was compelling and frightening! I loved getting inside Okiku's head and I'm sure anyone who loves a good chilling tale would not want to miss Okiku's story! ...more

In the continuation of Brooke and Jett's story we are once again thrown for a loop by the dangerous consequences of Jett's life. Has he gone too far this time though? I can't get enough of these two and finding out more about Jett's life and seeing where Brooke takes hers was one heck of a ride.
I didn't think things could get any better or worse with these two, but boy was I wrong. I was not happy that they were separated, but I did enjoy seeing them grow as a couple and learn to trust one another more. They both still have a long way to go when learning how to be in a relationship and to trust others, but their makeups were definitely worth it.

Magical settings and a unique cast of charact This is a beautiful tale about love and learning that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Magical settings and a unique cast of characters made this a truly unforgettable story. I only wish it was much longer than it was. The premise itself was very unique. There are not many stories with a jinni as a main character are hard to come by and the author really fleshed out this character and made her relatable and more human.
Najwa is a jinni and a spy so there isn't much that surprises her except for the wish that one human named Zaylee makes her grant. I loved Najwa she was brilliant and seeing her try to pretend to be human was so much fun. The best aspect was seeing how these two learned about each others culture and came to understand each other better in the process.
Zaylee is a sweet girl who got stuck in a terrible situation. She was desperate, but at times it was hard to tell whether or not she didn't jump out of the frying pan and into the fire when she decided to trade places with Najwa. Pretending to be a jinni with no real magical powers is one tough feat.
There was most definitely some romance going on in this story as well. My personal favorite was Najwa and Kamal as they were too sweet and perfect for each other. I liked that although there was a good dose of it the romance didn't take over the whole story.
This is a magical read that any fantasy fan will not want to miss!...more

The setting was exciting and mysterious starting out on the streets of a society filled with secrets, danger, and one cheeky girl who is navigating it all. This was a fast paced story filled with a whole lot of action and a good sprinkling of mystery to top it off.
Kyra is a no nonsense kind of girl. She grew up having to be tough and its taken its toll. She does what she has to in order to survive, but still helps those in need whenever possible. I liked her gutsy attitude and the her confidence in her abilities. Kyra was such a fun character to get to know and I didn't want her story to end.
Tristam was a mystery in the beginning, but the more we learned about him the more it was obvious that he and Kyra were very much alike. He was devious, but would do whatever it took to protect his friends. He was not very trustful, but getting to see these two learn to appreciate and trust one another was an adventure all in itself.

This story had all of the appeal of an old fairytale with a villain, a beautiful village girl, and of course a handsome hero. I loved the fast pace of this story it was a easy read that I enjoyed getting lost in. What I liked best, however, was the depth of the characters. While there was definitely an old fashioned feel to this tale, there was a bit of darkness to it as well. These characters weren't as sweet or as vicious as their exterior may seem. Also while admittedly there were parts that were predictable I was pleasantly pleased at the unique aspects too.
The romance was well paced and a nice change with all of the heated and fast moving love relationships in literature today. It had that old fashioned courtship appeal, but with a bit of spice added near the end as well. I really appreciated that you could see much of the development and how real it felt between them. There were plenty of obstacles, but their reactions and how they handled everything thrown at them suggested that this love was real and something they would work for.
Keira was a capable, brave, intelligent young woman. She loves her family dearly, but felt neglected by them most of the time. I liked that she used her head even when she was scared out of her mind. She was a rational and kind woman that knew how to live life for today. It was easy to see how she capture the heart of Aaron.
Aaron while charming and handsome was not without fault. He could have a temper and throw a tantrum sometimes, but it was nothing Keira couldn't handle. He was very protective and caring even to those who weren't as forgiving to him. I loved him and his intelligent understanding of others.
I think one of my favorite things about this story was how it handled the villains. They weren't treated with prejudice or seen as just an evil person. Instead their actions and motives were actually explored by the characters. Even when it was a detriment to them they tried to understand where that person was coming from.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good dragon tale and an old fashioned romance! ...more
