Wendy Pini pitched the idea to us at Comic-Con and I said to her, "This has to be both a book and a web comic." So I sat down to design a flash-based web comic displayer that would do it justice and allow Wendy to play around with little bits of animation here and there. The results were pretty amazing, and the story can be read for free at masque-of-the-red-death.com. We published the first, full-color volume of what is intended to be a two-volume series before passing the rights back to Wendy, who knows exactly what to do with them. ;-) This book was a hard sell in bookstores because it is sexually graphic (not for the kiddles!!!), but it has thrived online, where it finds more and more die-hard fans every day.(less)

Aimee's strengths as an artist are on full display in this book, and I sincerely hope she makes more books like this in the future. Our design team did a fantastic job putting the book together, right down to the idea to include foil on the cover to make the sunshine sparkle. The entire book was hand-written (not a single word typed) and you can imagine what it was like putting together all the bits and pieces in Photoshop to create the perfect design. Thanks to my entire team for putting their best efforts into this physical masterpiece! And thanks to Aimee for being both an amazing talent and one of the most professional, easy to work with artists I've ever known.(less)

Shortly after we started production, we found out it was going to be an anime series, which only made licensing it all the sweeter for us. We went all the way for this series, from a fifty-foot banner at Anime Expo to a fancy .com flash site to show off the beautiful color art. And then the economy tanked. It was the little engine that could even while bookstore chains returned books to publishers en masse and banks stopped giving out loans to small businesses and the whole publishing industry fell down the stairs. I kept working on it right up until it was time for me to say goodbye to my job at Go! Comi. It's a wonderful series, and I'll always love it, even if I never do get to see the end of it in English form. (less)

We had to spread out the release schedule because the series was still running in Japan, but it worked out pretty well. I am a sucker for boys with tattoos, hot guy harems, supernatural beasts bent on destroyed brave girls totally out of their league, and sensitive senseis who need a teenage girl to come along and teach them a lesson about love. Since this series has all of that, I was hooked from page one.(less)

I loved her from the moment I found out she was determined to take care of herself by living in a playground after her mother's death. Dragged away from her delusion that a slide was better than a shower by a slighty older, emotionally withdrawn megane, Yuzu found herself thrown into the shark-infested world of high society. Her grandmother is a filthy rich corporate mogul and wants to see her feisty, clutzy, mannerless grandchild become the same. The only thing that Yuzu has to help her survive this crazy turn of events is her mother's hilarious rules of survival, and the cold-hearted megane who dragged her into this situation in the first place.(less)

What if your dad was so rich he owned a country and set up a perfect town where you were raised with your every whim serviced? What if you got so sick of that you ran away from him to boarding school, where almost immediately, the suave prick who ran the school board decided he would marry you and gain your father's fortune, no matter how many times you hit him and ran away? But that's not really what the story's about. It's really about tying boys up, dressing them in wigs, watching them behave like cats, and praying that at some point, they will even take their shirt off. ;-)(less)
