The purists believe that only pure blood Amoveo should mate with each other. Unfortunately, the leader of the purists has plans for Marianna, and Marianna's brother hires Pete Castro to be her driver and bodyguard. Pete is a human, who knows about the existence of the Amoveo. Marianna is close to a time, when she will lose her Amoveo powers unless she finds a mate. When Marianna realizes that Pete is her mate, she has mixed feelings, because it is not known how a human mate will affect her Amoveo powers. Meanwhile, the purists are plotting a nefarious scheme.
UNDONE is a great addition to the Amoveo Legends series, in fact it is my favorite book in the series, so far. The Amoveo world is unique and exciting, and the characters are multi-faceted. Pete is a wonderful hero, who is very protective, especially of Marianna. The fact that he is a human doesn't slow him down from helping those in trouble. Pete doesn't back down from more powerful beings, when defending others. This makes him a true hero in my eyes. Marianna has been hurt by the war, in that, her father was a purist and a casualty in the war, and now, her mother as his mate is declining. Marianna hopes to keep out of the conflict but is forced to pick a side and take a stand for love. Many of the characters from previous books make an appearance, and it is great connecting with them again.
All in all, UNDONE is a very entertaining book, which I highly recommend. The next book in this series can't come out soon enough for me. ...more
Nicholas Haddonfield, Viscount Reston and heir to earldom, has promised his dying father to marry as soon as possible. While fleeing two marriage mind Nicholas Haddonfield, Viscount Reston and heir to earldom, has promised his dying father to marry as soon as possible. While fleeing two marriage minded women, Nick enters a darkened room, only to find that he isn't alone. Lady Leah Lindsey, daughter of an earl, is hiding from a lecherous old man, whom her father is pushing as a groom for her. Nick and Leah talk and Nick becomes interested in Leah's plight.
After reading Darius, I couldn't wait to read Nicholas and Leah's story. Luckily, Ms. Burrowes doesn't disappoint. At first, I was a bit worried, that the reason keeping Nick and Leah apart would prove insubstantial, but I'm pleasantly surprised to find this wasn't the case. Nick is a great hero, who has a large and boisterous family, on which he dotes and protects. Nick is a very protective hero and he not only has the physical prowess but, also, the intellect to use in the aid of others. I loved the way Nick handles Leah's vicious father. Leah is an great heroine, who has known great pain and comes out of it all the stronger. With Nick's help, Leah comes into her own and establishes herself as an admirable heroine.
NICHOLAS makes a great addition to the Lonely Lords series, and I enjoyed this book just as much as DARIUS. Ms. Burrowes has earned a place on my must read list, and I can't wait for the next book in the series....more
Beckman Haddonfield, son to the Earl of Bellefonte, is sent by his ailing father to oversee the running of one of his grandmother's properties. Once tBeckman Haddonfield, son to the Earl of Bellefonte, is sent by his ailing father to oversee the running of one of his grandmother's properties. Once there, Beckman meets the very attractive housekeeper, Sara Hunt, Sara's daughter, and the cook, Sara's sister. It is apparent, that the Hunt's are keeping secrets, and, then, someone starts sabotaging Beckman's efforts to improve the property.
BECKMAN is the fourth book in the Lonely Lords series, but it can be read alone. While I enjoyed BECKMAN, it is my least favorite book in the series, so far. The truth of the matter is, that I found Sara a little annoying, because she wavered in telling Beckman her true situation a little to long. While I understand Sara's mistrust of men after her experiences, she just couldn't seem to overcome her fears in a decent amount of time. However, Sara has some very good qualities, in that, she is willing to sacrifice and work hard for her family. Beckman is an equally likable hero, although his guilt over his wife's death seemed a little excessive, at times. The secondary characters are great, and I can't wait for the next book.
Tiberius "Tye" Lamartine Flynn, the Earl of Spathfoy and heir to a marquessate, travels to Scotland on a mission from his father to retrieve his nieceTiberius "Tye" Lamartine Flynn, the Earl of Spathfoy and heir to a marquessate, travels to Scotland on a mission from his father to retrieve his niece, Fiona, from her Scottish relatives. Hester Daniels, Fiona's step-aunt has been left to care for Fiona, while Fiona's mother and step-father are on their honeymoon. Hester has been hurt by a smooth-talking Englishman and left to face the scandal alone. Therefore, Hester is reluctant to trust Tye but is very attracted to him.
ONCE UPON A TARTAN is a lovely Victorian romance with lovable characters and a satisfying ending. Tye is one of my favorite heroes, to date. At first, Tye seems all British reserve and stiff upper lip, but Hester and Fiona worm their way into his heart, and he must make a choice between honor and love. There are times that Tye reminds me of my all-time favorite hero, Mr. Darcy. I find myself falling a little bit for Tye. Who wouldn't love a man, who puts his family first and dotes on his horse? Hester is a great heroine, who has been shuffled off to Scotland in disgrace but is determined to do the best for Fiona, whom she loves. Hester finds herself falling for Tye but is hesitant to commit, because of her past situation. There are numerous scenes which made me smile, and Fiona and Tye's horse are great characters on their own.
All in all, ONCE UPON A TARTAN is a heart-warming romance, which I highly recommend. It saddened me to read the last page, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series....more

Because his sons' tutor has recently quit and Alice gets along well with his sons, Ethan offers Alice a trial position.
ETHAN is a great regency romance with two tortured characters and a poignant, emotional plot. Ethan has experienced great trauma in his life and must face his emotional demons, before he can be with Alice. Alice, also, has experienced great trauma and as a result, has panic attacks. It is great to see Ethan take care of Alice and wonderful to see their relationship grow. When secrets are revealed and fears are faced, Alice and Ethan emerge stronger for being together. ...more
