Prepare yourself to be swept off your feet by a dominant alpha King who once he sets his sights on the beautiful Princess Alena nothing will stand in his way of making her his and branding her in the most primal of ways.
Alena, while being the picture of virtue has a sassy side that Roman brings out in her. Unsure of her feelings toward him and determined to remain with older her sister, Alena baits Roman into unleashing his passion. Although for someone so sweet and innocent she sure matches Roman in his ardor.
As luck would have it, Alena’s sister has caught the eye of Roman’s right-hand man, ensuring everyone gets a smexy filled happily ever after....more

Unfortunately, within the first few chapters it was obvious that I had very little connection to the main character. The story is centred around the sport showing the dedication and commitment required in order to succeed in such a competitive field. It also takes into consideration the other pressures young people are subjected to in today’s society; such as academic success and peer pressure in social situations. The series is realistic and relatable; although in my opinion the paranormal element may have been overkill. While the introduction of the supernatural does give the narrative a another dimension I did feel (from personal experience) it will put a lot of students off reading a story I am convinced they would enjoy. ...more

It would be easy to dismiss Lance as a rake based on his reputation, that is until you get to see below the surface, believe me when you do you just want to wrap him up in cotton wool and give him all the tender loving care he has missed out on in his life.
Lance is stuck in a toxic relationship; a vicious cycle of expectation and promises which result in acts of debauchery leading to increased self-loathing. Unfortunately, Lance believes he deserves the treatment he receives at the hands of his Ex, Tash, as a result of his very painful childhood. Due to his belief and indoctrinated nature concerning his capacity for love, Lance has become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Every action feeding his own negativity until he is stuck at the bottom of a pit struggling to climb out.
Lance has suffered so much physical and verbal abuse during his formative years at the hands of the person who should have protected him; it has shaped him as an adult, causing him to suppress memories, both good and bad in order to protect his mental health. Unfortunately, letting go of good memories leaves Lance with little reference with which to tell a good relationship from a bad one, ultimately leading to the toxic co-dependent relationship he has with Tash.
Poppy is a physical therapist newly recruited to the team. She is utterly adorable, caring and sweet in her nature. She has a brief history with Lance when they were in high school, although Lance doesn't remember it or much about that time altogether. Harboring a crush on Lance over the years, Poppy has it cruelly crushed on a night out with former friends, when she is confronted by Lance's licentiousness. Yet, Poppy instinctively senses there is something more to Lance, a depth that he doesn't show others. Being close to him provides much-needed insight into his issues.
Due to his upbringing, Lance doesn't like to be touched, even with his reputation and especially with the events that established said reputation, he still struggles with being touched. However, forced to attend a massage session with Poppy, Lance is stunned to find Poppy's touch brings him comfort, something he has never known. Poppy feels like home to him ♥
The journey isn't easy for Poppy and Lance, especially with Lance's notoriety. The hardest obstacle to overcome is always yourself, Lance has to battle his inner demons and embrace the positive aspects of his life when he has always been forced to feed the negative. I completely loved Lance's emotional journey supported by Poppy, who is so much stronger than initial impressions would have you believe. Relationships take a lot of work in Poppy's words 'Nothing good is easy: otherwise, we wouldn't appreciate the work it takes to make it work.' Together, Poppy and Lance make that work look good, from first kiss to forever....more

Right For Love by Aria Cole - a career driven doctor needs a date for a medical gala dinner but doesn't want to fight his way through the piranhas waiting to take a bite out of his wallet. With the help of a dating app and the interference of a well-meaning but flamboyant best friend ensures that the swipe right leads to Mr Right ;) Love on a Plane by Ilsa Madden-Mills – A short story featuring the wonderful Spider from the Briarwood Academy series. Just one thing I am hoping this was set before the events in Very Twisted Things or I may just have to kill Sebastian. While we are still awaiting the promised Spider book, Love on a Plane does fill the gap marginally. Keeping us up-to-date on the self-destructive behaviour that is classic Spider. Simultaneously giving a little more background detail to his life and insight into the cause of his self-fulfilling prophecy cycle. I need Spider’s book NOW. Taking My Shot by Jen Frederick – intense fast, paced short story with amazing characters you can’t help but want to know better. When a social worker and a cop specialising in domestic violence form a connection only to have it severed when Gabe rejects Sweeney when she is brave enough to ask him on a date. The circumstances leading to the rejection are understandable yet Gabe is left with almost instant regret especially as someone else quickly moves onto his territory. As soon as there is an opening Gabe takes his shot at Sweeney moving at whiplash speed to ensure he never loses her again. A Very Locklaine Valentine by Jessica Prince – an extended epilogue of sorts for Opposites Attract featuring two of my favourite characters. Richard and Delilah. Things never go to plan when you factor in a meddling PA/Best Friend, afternoon drinks and the infamous bald bouncer. A volatile mix leading to the last place you would ever expect a proposal but so very Locklaine. ...more

Bryn doesn’t fit in with her pretentious, rich family and tends to keep her distance unless it is compulsory. Speaking of compulsory, her sister’s wedding would be one of those occasions. Although Bryn can’t bear the thought of attending as the single career woman she is knowing it will cause her family to either pity or ridicule her. In an attempt to avoid the torture, Bryn happens across an ad for an upscale male escort service *waggles eyebrows*
Brodie is in a similar family situation to Bryn, he happens to be in his brother’s office at the escort agency at the time of Bryn’s appointment. As if struck by lightning, Brodie is compelled to play the part of male escort rather than the computer geek he really is, in order to ensure his chance with Bryn.
For a computer nerd, Brodie is a dominant alpha in all areas, taking control of the situation and Bryn in no uncertain terms. There are also a few juicy interludes thrown into the mix.
Bryn and Brodie are fantastic in Valentine for Hire and I really do think they would benefit from a longer story. Now where do I sign up for that escort service ;)...more
