This book took my brain, ripped it out and threw it around like a football. It was amazing! From start to finish this book had me hooked, I feel like I now know the in's and out's of Motley Crue and it's part shock/hilarity/love. The Dirt is a complete insight into a day to day life with the band and throughout I was shocked at most, but then again, not a lot surprised me with what they had to say. I really love how Nikki writes, he is a talented man and really has a way with words. Tommy has always been a favourite of mine and he is basically a giant 6 year old. Vince had a lot to say and when he said it I couldn't stop reading. Mick was one who didn't say a lot but again, when he said something I was hooked. To me he was kind of a dark horse, and not to mention one hell of a guitarist :) I waited 6 months to get my hands on this book (library problems) and I didn't put it down once when I had it. I took my time and soaked in all the Motley shit that has gone on in the past couple of decades. This really was an insightful book and at times had me feeling a strong vulgarity at the things they got up to, it made me cry when reading about Vince's daughter Skylar and it made me laugh too many times to count. I really wish I could have been around in the Crue hey day because that really would have been something. Amazing book, brilliant band and good guys. A perfect 5/5. Get reading ;)...more

I fin**spoiler alert** I actually give this book a 3 3/4. I think I might have enjoyed this a lot more if I had of been a huge fan of Marilyn Manson. I find him an interesting person, creepy and insane, but interesting. I think he is misunderstood by the majority of the human race who just assume he is a doting Satanist who praises Satan and sacrifices animals. On the contrary he is much more than that, he is intelligent, at times I think a little too intelligent, although the intelligence diminished a lot when in his drug phase. He has a smart way of thinking and of getting his point across, even if he did it in some of the most vulgar ways possible. What I didn't like in this book was reading the story he wrote about incest and necrophilia and also what happened in his grandfathers basement when he was young. Some things he talked about were just too out there for my taste and I would have prefered not to have read them. I do believe that everything that happened to him as a child shaped out the person who he has turned into, which apart from the disgusting and crude, is a well thought out human being. He is different, he is wise in many ways and he doesn't take no for an answer. That is what I like most about him. Not to mention after he talked about what Satanism is all about it made me think what a good religion it is,a much more thought out one than Christianity. Nevertheless, it won't make me become a part of it in the least. I also didn't like how this book flowed, compared to other autobiographies I have read it didn't seem to map out his life quite the same way, or maybe I was just expecting it to go the same way. All in all, this book is quite a read, filled with things to make your skin crawl and your mind go into overdrive. It is a good read and a definite for any Marilyn Manson fan or anyone who is interested in this fascinating human being....more

It's a good classic story of friendship's and hardship's. I liked the setting and the painful story to go with it. I don't think I would read it again, but I certainly wont forget it....more

It is true Lemony Snicket style and from start to finish it made me laugh and made me think and ponder things I wouldn't normally ponder. This book is basically full of quotes and little inspirations. Every one of them rings truth and really makes you think and associate them with the topic they are under. This is one of those books that I will constantly be going back to and pulling out random quotes for people and for myself. I think it may have to live on my bedside table cause I will forever want to look at it again and again. It is short and can be read in one sitting but it won't leave your mind for quite sometimes and it will make a lasting impression. True genius....more

This book was a great novella and I liked each story for what it brought to the book as a whole. 'Her Best Enemy' was high on the list for me. I liked the struggle and the sexual tension between Kiley and Jack. It was great to read about and it all flowed well together, I would love to read more about them if possible.
'Someone Else's Shadow' was probably last on the list for me in this novella but it was a good storyline and easy enough to follow. It could have been a little stronger but in the end you just have to take it for how it is. Not bad though.
'Dancer's in the Dark' was my favourite, not just because it was written by Charlaine Harris and the fact that she has a true gift for writing an amazing story. I liked this story for how easy it was to follow and for where it lead you around each corner and dark alley way. The characters fit perfectly together and I really craved more after it was finished. One of the best short stories I have ever read :)...more

It sat on my bedside table with the other 3 for a whole month before I even tried picking up where I left it at. But, after I picked it back up I could not put it back down and I devoured it and then was off into the next book. I was eager to see where Rose and Dimitri would go and I love reading about Lissa, although at times she could be a little boring, but when she is good she is real good. I hate comparisions, especially to the series I'm about to compare it too, but I have to say that this book already set the bar high and has won me over a lot quicker than the Twilight series did....more

It makes it all the better seeing how they came out of it in the end, which has been the case in the ones I have read so far. I loved Nikki Sixx's diary and all the mental shit he wrote in it, it made me feel happy when he came out of it, angry that he would do something like that to himself and sad when he spiralled so low that there was almost no chance of coming out of it. Books like these are a true insight to what can happen in life and to have read this book about someone who sunk so low, only to come out on top and sort his life out again, that gave me inspiration and hope that you can overcome practically anything. I'd love to meet Nikki and be able to thank him for this gift :) ...more

It was true to the fairytale and gave it the modernisation it needed.
I thought that Kyle/Adrian was portrayed perfectly and his beastly image was something truly, well, beastly. Lindy was a sweet girl and not deserving of the life she lead in the least. Will was a character I also liked quite a lot. He stood his own and was the voice of reason to Kyle/Adrian.
Everything Kyle/Adrian learnt through his terrible two year journey made him into a better person and someone worthy of leading a privelaged life. I love how in the end he was privelaged enough with the gift of Lindy and provided her with the life he knew she deserved.
I've seen the trailer for the movie of this book and I cannot wait to check it out. It looks exceptionally good and I hope it stays as true to the book as possible. A great read that I recommend to anyone who likes a good fairytale....more
