Let’s Misbehave displays the excellence every novella should aspire to. The writing is clear, sharp, and precise with wonderful description. This includes the description and dialogue of the characters which were a delight to read about. Especially since the hero and the heroine are such complete opposite in lifestyles and personalities. Summers has a true talent of making two people who could not be more wrong for each other from outside appearances, appear absolutely perfect for each other underneath. This story will take you through a whirlwind of emotions and leave you very pleased that you read it.
The brevity was the only downfall of the novella, which really is an acceptable problem. The time period is amazing, and is not commonly used, so to see this developed into a full length novel would have been a great treat. It seems this novella was enough to give you a taste of an excellent story, but not quite enough to get you fully emotionally involved with these characters. Less than one hundred pages made it difficult to accurately describe these characters falling in love so it’s really somewhat forced upon you more than anything else. You have a brief glimpse into their time together, so it the character says he or she is in love after such a short period of time, you just accept it in order to be fully mesmerized with the beauty of the tale. Just the brief flash of Summer’s talent in this short story was enough to let you know with certainty that should this story have another 200 pages or so you could have felt like these characters were a part of your family.
The story may be short, but it’s sexy, fun and entertaining. If you are looking for a quick read that will sweep you away into a dramatic yet amazingly sweet love story, Let’s Misbehave is the story you need to read. The jazzy world Rae Summers creates will please you immensely and it is hard not to love this story about two complete opposites finding love.

This novella puts it all on the line with plenty of danger and gunslingers, but at it's heart is a western romance between two lost souls. One that, despite all the obstacles against it, could never die.
Austin never forgot the young girl who gave him wild flowers and stole his heart. Circumstances tore them apart and now Austin has come back to Missouri to ask Darcy for her help to contact the infamous Jesse James gang. Austin had a priceless horse stolen from him and he knows James gang can help return what is rightfully his. Neither Austin nor Darcy expected their attraction to still be so strong after all these years. Despite their passion and mutual feelings for one another, their pasts may be the biggest obstacle in their path to love and happiness.
This short story starts years after our two leads have seen each other. So of course they reflect a bit on the time they spent together and the memories. Their reflections on the past are endearing and tenderly sweet. The impact these two individuals had on each other is romantic and charming to say the least. But of course, now they are older, wiser and terrified of their past and their feelings for one another. Still, their dialogue was always straight forward and honest, which was truly refreshing. There were no coy moments or awkward silences between these characters...if they wanted to express their feelings, they simply said so.
For the history buffs out there, you will enjoy the connection Preston’s heroine has with well known outlaws Frank and Jesse James. This adds a dazzling historical spin to the backdrop of this lovely romance story. It was a creative addition to the story and added a few interesting characters.
I was truly surprised with what Preston lays out for the reader...the obstacles, a murder mystery, the character introductions, the romance. A lot takes place during this novella and none of it feels rushed or unresolved. It a very entertaining and complete read. You have a good dose of drama and romance that creates a great story. Preston creates a promising novella that fans of western historical romance will enjoy immensely.
Almost An Outlaw by Patricia Preston is a worthwhile read for an easy afternoon. A little spicy, a little sweet and overall delightful, this is a short story you won’t be sorry you picked up.

This tale is the perfect combination of drama, angst and passion that will entertain you throughout. If you are looking for that stunning, but all to brief read, Healing Hearts is the novel for you.
I was amazed by how deeply I was sucked into this short story. You barely have a hundred pages to understand the characters past, their passion and their pain but Kincaid does a amazing job of condensing their story. The heroine Emma, has a whirlwind of emotions she goes through within such a small amount of time, but you never feel rushed or cheated by the brevity of this story.
I love a tortured hero as much as the next girl and Adam was an amazing tortured hero. You could tell he was considered a somewhat arrogant lad before he went to war, but of course, he has come back a changed man. Regardless Emma has loved him for a very long time, but Adam took her twin brother with him to war and did not bring him back. Suffering the despair of her loss and the massive debt her family is in, she is torn whether or not to confront Adam and ask for his help. She believes that she hates him, but one kiss from this wounded soldier melts her heart. Adam has no doubt Emma belongs in his life as his wife, it’s just the small matter of convincing her they belong together.
Shorter stories are normally not my favorite since I sometimes feel you are cheated out of the emotional attachment you could have in a full length novel, but that was certainly not the case with Healing Hearts. Adam and Emma pulled me in with their desire for one another, hooked me with their inner torment and satisfied me with their happily ever after. Kincaid is certainly an author to watch out for. Healing Hearts looks to be her second published works and with her talent she has no where to go but up.

Raeford Anthony Kenton, Earl of Leyland has isolated himself from the world after a recent accident left him blind. Determined to spend his time sulking and alone, Eleanor Upton will not allow it. She has loved Rafe for years and wishes to be the one person to help him adjust to his new handicap. A desperate man, a lovestruck woman and an undeniable passion between then makes for a very interesting experience. While Eleanor, a baron's daughter, is not the ideal match for a Duke's son...she can't help but wish for a life spent with the man she loves. Now all she has to do is help Rafe see he is not a lost cause and that he loves her just as much as she loves him.
An interesting and well developed novella, The Duke's Blind Temptation is a worthwhile read for historical romance fans looking for a bit more passion. The novel has plenty of spice, yet it's presented in a way that is touchingly romantic and sweet. It delivers a simple, yet powerful romance between two classic characters.
Rafe was a wonderful hero, since he starts this story as a tortured hero living in solitude and misery about his disability...and there's nothing better in romance than a tortured hero! His gruff attitude was understandable and meant to frighten Eleanor away. Yet Eleanor's refusal to be frightened away was humorous as she fought to make sure she remained a supportive figure for Rafe. Both characters were delightful and lovingly developed.
The beginning created a Beauty and the Beast fairytale that is always classic and timeless in historical romance. What made the novella intriguing was the fact that it didn't remain that way. There were some interesting changes that drastically altered the dynamic between the characters, and in a very good way. I enjoyed the drama it added to the story as it basically turned the tables on these characters and made for a very dramatic situation.
Overall, I liked this brief tale very, very much. Very spicy and charmingly romantic The Duke's Blind Temptation is pure enjoyment. Cameron shows a great talent for making characters with great depth and passion that you can easily care about very much. Reader's should not pass up this great tale.

One of the things I love best a‘Simply magical’ is an apt phrase to describe the beauty found within Karen Erickson’s novella Her Christmas Pleasure. One of the things I love best about this novella is how quickly you become immersed in the lives and feelings of these characters. You don’t get much time to become acquainted with these characters, but the beautiful thing about that is you don’t need to. Erickson magically takes the characters straight to your heart and quickly engages you in their romance. Celia and Damien are truly stunning characters that are completely enamored with one another yet reluctant to let their feelings be known. Their unrequited love is simply touching and exciting to read about.
Yet it only remains that way for so long…from the first kiss to the last, Celia and Damien share a captivating passion. Erickson has a great talent for not only creating a novella that is sexy, but eloquently expresses the emotional side of love as well. You care about these characters just as much as if you had read 200 plus pages of a novel, which is a rare treat indeed. It’s hard to express how much I enjoyed this short tale and wished for it to go on longer.
Her Christmas Pleasure while it is short, is filled with striking emotion and vivid passion. Reading it will give you a brief escape into a fascinating story and possibly introduce you to a talented author as it did for me. Marcus, Lord Russell, has the perfect arrangement. With a distant fiancée waiting in the wings, he avoids the perils of matrimony and the burden of warding off unattached ladies. It was perfect, until he receives a letter from his betrothed, Miss Lydia Trent, six years later, demanding she be released from their arrangement. Rather than be relieved, Marcus is outraged.
Unable to accept the fact that a woman is declining to marry him, Marcus sets out to reclaim his bride-to-be. Yet Marcus is unprepared for what he finds. He may have left an innocent young lady six years ago, but he has returned to find a headstrong, beautiful woman in her place. Unfortunately, she is a woman that is refusing all his usual methods of seduction...at least at first. As each encounter strengthens their passion, Marcus must do everything he can to bring Lydia back to him. Hoping that it isn't too late and he hasn't lost Lydia's love forever.
I loved the premise behind the story. What's not to love about a jilted rake that finally returns home to claim his stubborn fiancée? While this easily could have been expanded into a full novel, Ms Vane does a fantastic job of giving you a full story in a small number of pages. A BREACH OF PROMISE delivers the magic of romance, the passion of an erotica novel and the exquisite detail of a charming historical. It's all there and more as you are introduced to some surprisingly fascinating characters.
To say I was impressed with Lydia's development as a character would be an understatement. Being an erotic novella, I was truly worried she would wilt in the arms of her hero and that would be that. Yet, Ms Vane completely surprised me with a fierce and bold heroine that stood her ground against Marcus. Which in my opinion is exactly how it should be, because honestly, you can't love Marcus at first. He is a bit self-centered and unkind in the beginning, and in A BREACH OF PROMISE, he truly does redeem himself. What I loved experiencing is his perspective towards this mere girl he has no problem leaving behind only to encounter the woman he never thought she could be. Marcus was the classic bad boy turned good guy and I loved every moment of it.
A BREACH OF PROMISE is a stellar novella that features the right amount of spice and the perfect amount of classic romance. What is easy to love about this story are the fabulous characters who share a stunning attraction that smolders throughout the pages. Victoria Vane has a beautiful and distinguished prose that not only reveals the complexities of her characters, but also demonstrates the breathtaking charm of the time period. While this story may be brief, overall, A BREACH OF PROMISE has everything you could want and more.

Julianne MacLean has added an absolutely gem to her Pembroke Palace series.
The Duke of Pembroke needs all of his sons married before Christmas or a horrible curse will plague them and they will lose their inheritance forever. The latter being the most devastating to the sons, they strive to make sure this doesn't happen. Which is why they turn to the devastatingly beautiful Lady Anne Douglas with an intriguing proposition—marry their brother Lord Garrett Sinclair in name only and be rewarded handsomely.
Garrett has agreed to return home after a seven-year absence to endure such a scam and save his inheritance despite the fact that he hoped to never see Pembroke again. Meanwhile, faced with the possibility of gaining enough wealth to manage her own independence, Anne finds their offer impossible to refuse. Yet the more time she spends with her fiancé during their two-week engagement, the stranger their arrangement becomes. While she originally agreed to sacrifice a few weeks of her life for unlimited independence, she may end up sacrificing her heart.
A few little things I loved about this story—it was just the right length for a novella. It's not too short and was not too long; it was just enough to get to know the characters and experience their story while being just a bit shorter than a full-length novel. Also, it was an incredibly sweet story. The two protagonists were very hurt by experiences in their past and they quickly realize they can depend on each other. Even though the reasons they were brought together are far from ordinary, I thought their romance was developed very nicely and it was wonderful to read about their journey. After a certain point, I just couldn't put it down because I was desperate to learn about their happily ever after.
I adored Anne for a variety of reasons. One, because of her tendency to be completely understanding. It was interesting to see how she adapted to any situation and never overreacted. She was very sensible seeking out the logic of every situation. Garrett had a little bit of a dark side, which I loved. This tortured hero was haunted by demons of his past and it was heartbreakingly beautiful to watch his relationship with Anne banish his nightmares. I really enjoyed reading about a character that came from such a prestigious family, yet still feels like an outsider. Especially since this novel wasn't just about his finding love, but healing old family wounds as well. It made his character much more complex in such a brief story and much more interesting.
For historical fans that love a sweet and charming romance, this is a must read. Mainly because you wouldn't want to pass up a great story. Also because if you haven't been introduced to the various works of Julianne MacLean, like me, this would be a great start. With MARRIED BY MIDNIGHT being my first journey into the world of Pembroke Place, I have to say I want more! I loved the romance, I loved the characters and simply enjoyed reading the whole story. Julianne MacLean has a gripping prose that takes you into the characters' lives and makes it impossible for you to want to leave. MARRIED BY MIDNIGHT is a spectacular historical romance!
