With each new book in this series I find myself being drawed in more and more. This second book did not disappoint. I really enjoyed reading the first one in this series and was excited to start reading this one. It was just as good as the first one. But with this one we get to meet new characters and go to other realms.
Here we see Brooke out on a mission with Arantay. While Evan is back at Veneseron training for his next trial. Jed is being himself trying to flirt with all the girls. I just love his personality and he is one of my favorites in this book. He makes me laugh throughout the story.
Evan and his friends are also trying to figure out what is going on around there. Girls keep coming up missing and are they are being told that the girls are just runaways. They don’t believe this and start to investigate on their own. Evan at the same time is trying to keep his demon side quiet and not let others find out about it.
Brooke and Arantay are in London trying to find a rogue werewolf who has been terrorizing the city. While they both have feelings for each other, now is not the time to act on them. They want to try to heal or cure the rogue werewolf and find out what is causing his madness. It’s not long before they have their run ins with other creatures who don’t like and don’t want venators in their city.
Will they make it out alive? Will Evan and his friends pass their trial and move to the next level? You need to read this great story to find out. If that is not enough there are many other characters that we meet along the way that I’m wondering how and when they will fit into the story with Evan and Brooke. It’s a lot to take in with so much going on and so many characters stories. In the end we are left with some real cliffhangers. But that being said I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to see what happens next. This e-book was provided to me by the author for review. This did not affect my review in any way. ...more

Evan doesn't really have a good life, he never knew his parents and was raised by his "grandmother" who is actually no relation to him. He is bullied by the kid's at school and doesn't have any friends. That all changes when he is taken to another realm, Veneseron, which is a school for demon hunters. Here he is given a week to start training to become a demon hunter. He has the option to leave and go back to Earth after a week. Fortunantly for him he decides to stay. Evan has finally found somewhere he belongs and fits in. Things seem to be going well for him.
Brooke has a somewhat normal life. Her family although doesn't really like her and could care less if she was around or not. She too is taken and has the same option to stay or leave. Evan and Brooke become fast friends and continue to make friends with some of the other Venators.
The world that Collins created is dark, magical and entertaining all at the same time. There are so many characters that I could not keep track of them all. The statues move, talk and can do some things to people. The students train to become demon hunters and have to move up the ranks to be able to go out to other realms to fight the demons. But they never expected to have demons invade Veneseron.
I really liked Evan and Brooke but I loved Jed, he is so funny and such a likeable character. I also really liked reading and learning about Arantay. This book just has so much to offer, with all the characters, different types of monsters, all the cool magic and a bit of romance. What's not to like? The last part of the book is really good and fast paced. We learn some really crazy dark things about who Evan and Brooke's real parents are.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series! I recommend this if you like fantasy with a some darkness to it. This e-book was provided to me by the author for review. This did not affect my review in any way....more
